Also the chief has been getting some strange deliveries shipped to him of art pieces. Another mystery is the 2nd floor of the building where no one is allowed to enter. He always wondered what the reason was for this. About 5 years ago he sneaked into the second floor and entered into a room full of art goods. He even sneaked into the chief’s office and took a peek of some of the transactions of the money he has been receiving secretly. The only thing he couldn’t see was the source of the money.

Since then he’s continued to investigate the chief possibly committing racketeering and he eavesdropped into a call that he was making. He found out it was Anthony Clark of the Hybrid Corporation and he’s wondered what involvement does the chief have to do with a checkered company such as Hybrid. He was caught by the chief and was threatened to be fired. However the chief was convinced that Bill didn’t know too much and decided to spare his job.

Ever since the incident though, Bill is convinced that the chief is trying to hide something. Also the chief might had kept him home for fear that his plans might be exposed by him. He decides to stop overthinking as he doesn’t want to stress out his wife.

After spending the rest of the week at home catching up on some quality time with his wife, Bill sees the news the night before he returns to work. He finds out that the suspect he caught shoplifting that fateful morning was a wanted criminal for multiple shoplifting incidents and is an illegal immigrant.

After a good night sleep he gets up on another sunny looking morning ready to head back to work after a short hiatus. Giving his wife a goodbye kiss he heads to his SUV and drives to the 75th precinct. Arriving at the he gives his greetings to the sergeant and receives his orders. He is partnered up with a young man named Angel and is ordered to patrol the Cypress Hills area of East New York.

Cypress Hills is the quietest place relatively speaking in the crime-infested East New York area. The two meet each other and Bill is relieved to see Angel acting professionally.

After Angel gets his uniform ready the two of them hop into the police cruiser and head to the Cleveland Street train station to begin their patrol duties. Upon arrival the two get a sandwich at the local deli for lunch and eat in their cruiser. After lunch the two begin to patrol the area.

“Hey Angel you take that side of the street and I’ll take this side of the street.” Bill says to Angel.

“No problem sir, this is my old neighborhood so I know this area in the back of my head.” Angel replies and goes along his way.

Bill bumps into a couple of regulars in the neighborhood.

“Yo Bill what’s up?” A man says in a West Indian accent.

“Hey Mack what’s new, hope you guys are staying in trouble.” Bill replies.

“No worries sir, we’re doing well just getting back to the store now.” Another man with a Jamaican accent says.

  “Ok guys you be easy.”

“Hey Bill wait up my boy Neo wants to say something to you.”

“Sir have you heard the Hybrid Corporation is trying out the ‘Broken Arrow’ vaccine? I for one don’t trust those guys to be honest.”

“Yeah bro, what my boy is saying is that we can’t trust those guys. They’re not cool!”

“Hmm… well I’m sure I’ll hear about it when I get home. Now I don’t want to hold you up, take it easy boys.”

“Alright Bill.” Mack and Neo say in unison.

All of a sudden a thought comes into Bill’s head, perhaps Neo isn’t kidding after all the chief of his precinct has had dealings with the Hybrid Corporation. Nevertheless he tries to ignore the concern and moves on with his patrol duties. The rest of the day turns uneventful and late afternoon arrives. It’s close to 6:30 and the party for the recruits is at 7.

Angel meets up with Bill and prepares to head for his welcome party.

“Hey Bill I think you’re cool and you should come with me to the party. How about it, you aren’t too old.” Angel asks Bill.

“Ok I guess I can tag along, alright let’s get going.” Bill says yes to Angel’s question.

The sun sets as the two head for the patrol car. However, things become abnormal when they notice that the streets are deserted. They don’t think much of it, but they become more concerned when no trains are heard for a good half-hour. When they get to the cruiser they find a dead body by the car. Bill tries to call for backup.

“Hey anyone there… shit no answer! This isn’t good at all.” Bill becomes concerned when he gets no answer from anybody in the precinct.

Angel sees a man ready to bite Bill and orders him down while shooting the hostile man.

“Thanks Angel, what the hell… It can’t be… Zombies are invading! We got to get out of here, quickly get in the car!” Bill orders Angel into the car.

The two drive off away from the area until a zombie pops from the back seat if the car. The zombie tries to bite Bill and Angel, but Bill who’s driving the car begins to drift the car in an attempt to get the zombie away. Eventually he crashes the car back into a dead end and the zombie flies out of the back window. However, before the two can get comfortable though, an out of control gas tanker heads right for the two.

Angel and Bill are forced to jump in opposite direction as the truck is ready to crash. The tanker crashes and explodes with the duo barely getting out of the way. However the tanker prevents the two from contacting each other, it becomes clear that it will be every man for himself.

  “Angel!” He screams.

“Head to the police station! I’ll meet you there.” Angel replies.

  “Ok!” Bill answers back.

Bill finds himself by Essex and Pitkin Avenues and further away from the police station than Angel. He quickly tries to call his wife and gets an answer, but not the one he wanted.

“Honey, are you ok?” Bill asks his wife.

“Argghhh!!!” Her screams as she’s being eaten by zombies is all he would hear. A tear comes out of his eyes and he says, “Dammit Hybrid!”

All of a sudden in only a period of one hour what was a normal peaceful September day has turned into one of Armageddon and destruction. All because a greedy corporation tried to hide their failed experiments and had no way of containing the creatures. However, it could very well be that New York authorities were suspicious of Hybrid and that the company decided that New York needed to be wiped off the map. Whatever the case might be, Bill knows that the only way to survive is to escape town without his wife.

Bill heads for the police station, but is cut off by the tanker so he has to go around the long way. He is met by a horde of zombies and shoots a few of the zombies with his pistol or at least the ones he could kill off. Being surrounded by burning cars and burning storefronts he sees the street on Pitkin Ave is blocked off by more wrecked cars. The only place he has to go to is a deli.

Bill heads inside the deli and he meets the store owner who pulls out a crossbow in his direction.

“Halt! Who are you, what are you doing here?” The owner yells out.

“Hold your fire, I’m a human!” Bill yells out.

“Whoa… sorry about that officer. I thought you were one of them, with that uniform.”

“You have any idea what the hell is going on here?”

“I don’t have a clue. When I least expected it the town was infested with zombies.”

After the short conversation, Bill sees a back exit out of the deli. As he looks for other survivors the windows break in the store and zombies begin to overwhelm the deli owner who is only able to get one shot off. The bolt pierces the attacking zombie’s head killing it. However, the other three gang up and begin to bite him.

Bill grabs a meat cleaver and begins to chop the heads off the zombies killing them all. While the zombies might be dead, but so is the deli owner. Bill sees that he is bleeding too much and doesn’t feel a pulse. He decides to take the bow gun figuring it’s not a bad idea to carry more firepower. There’s nothing more to do in the store, so he heads out the back exit which leads him to an alleyway. He runs through the alley where more zombies await him.

Instead of shooting them, Bill decides to run around them in order to conserve bullets. After all, bullets will probably be at a premium and finding another survivor will probably be a miracle. He sees a gate and heads through it which leads him up a fire escape. He runs through the fire escape that leads him to another alleyway, this one is by a bank.

More zombies are found in the alleyway. Once again he tries to run around them. However, one of them gets a hold of him and attempts to bite him, but he punches the zombie in the face. While the punch doesn’t kill the zombie, it does cause the zombie to lose its grip on Bill.

Seeing another gate, he rushes through it and finds himself on the same block of the police station. However the path to the station is blocked by an unbreakable police barricade and a crashed bus. With no way around he figures that he would enter the bus and exit out the back entrance which would lead him to the entrance of the station.

Entering the bus he only sees a dead body on the floor and he walks carefully until he hears his foot being grabbed by the female body. Then he realizes that it is a zombie ready to bite him. He steps on the zombies head as hard as he can and crushes the head of the zombie. If there is one thing he needs to learn is that zombies might be powerful, but their heads are made out of glass.

He exits the bus and rushes around more zombies until he gets to the gate to enter the courtyard of the 75th precinct. Once he’s in the courtyard he rushes into the police station and sees the hall is clear, at least for now. However, what other surprises await him in the police station and what new creatures will he have to endure? Little does he know that he will endure an adventure, one similar to what his partner Angel had to endure. The terror of Bill’s story starts here!

  Chapter 3

Bill explores the hallway of the 75th precinct only to find most of the doors are locked except for the door leading to the western office. He enters the western office to find the sarge who is injured on the floor.

“Agghhh!!!” The sarge screams in pain.

“Oh man.” Bill says as he heads to the sarge to see how he’s doing.

“Oh Bill, I afraid that the party has been canceled…”

  “What happened?”

“About an hour ago we were attacked by zombie like creatures... our men did the best they could… but they… were no match…” The sarge says weakly as he has the look of a dying man.

“Damn it sure looks like it. Wait is that, a bite on your arm?”

“Yes it is, one of those bastards got me good… it’s that damn Hybrid Corporation and their… their sick experiments…”

“Yeah I know…” The sarge interrupts Bill.

“You see about 5 years ago, a group of brave officers of the elite force went to investigate a mansion in Upstate, New York. Little… did they know… that Mansion was a cover for… a Hybrid laboratory where experiments were taking place for years… When they returned though, no one… believed them... at the risk of their lives. No one knows where those brave officers are now… for all I know they could be dead… in this cover up. Argghhh!” The sarge screams in pain again after he finishes his sentence.

  “Hang in there!”

“Bill, don’t worry about me. Just rescue any survivors you find here… Here, take this keycard you should be able to unlock the doors. Now go…”

  “But…”

“Just go!!!!” The sarge screams while pulling his service pistol to Bill.

“Fine, but I’ll be back for you just hold on!” Bill reassures the sarge that he will return.

When Bill exits the room, the sarge locks the door trying to prevent any zombies from entering the room. He sees a computer in the lobby and he operates it. Upon operating the computer, it asks for a keycard. He inserts the keycard and the double doors are unlocked. Bill sees a couple of clips for his handgun that he picks up. Entering the double doors he finds himself in the 1st floor waiting room and begins to check the room for any evidence. He sees a locker that is unlocked and finds some bolts for his crossbow. Looks like the locker belonged to a hunter.

After finding nothing else he heads for the back where he sees a door leading to a hallway. Looking out the small window he catches a glimpse of a pink object walking, his nerves begin to go up as he has no idea what could that thing be.

Entering the hallway he sees a trail of blood leading to a beheaded police officer and before he could analyze the body the pink thing shows up. The hallway is dark and bloody with much of the items being ransacked. It turns out that the pink thing isn’t a thing, it’s a creature.

The creature screeches and opens its mouth while sticking out his tongue. After that it jumps down to the surface.

“Oh God what is that thing?” Bill asks to himself while the creature screeches an intimidating growl.

It turns out to be a flesher just like Angel had to deal with in his adventure through the hellish station. Bill shoots bolts into the flesher which injures it, but doesn’t kill it. The flesher sticks out his tongue and its sharp tongue breaks through a window with Bill dodging just in the nick of time. The tongue is sharp enough to kill a human instantly.

He tries to get another shot at the creature, but the flesher jumps towards him with its claws attempting to cut him open. He sidesteps to the left, but trips down to the floor. Despite that the flesher misses him and Bill tries to get his footing back. He shoots his crossbow with the flesher having its back turned and kills it.

He takes a deep breath of relief seeing death with his own eyes and knowing there will probably be more near-death experiences to survive. For now he’s grateful to be alive.

Continuing down the hallway he opens another door to be led into an ominous green hallway with wooden panels being installed to hold back the zombies progress. He maneuvers his way through the barricades and continues on his way. Then he sees a door where he can enter and he sees he can continue down the hallway.

Entering through the door he finds himself in the operations room where full-scale operations are planned. To his relief no zombies or creatures are found in the room, however he does find a document handwritten with blood on it. Taking a look at it he reads that it is an operations report. Reading it as much as he could, it reads:

“This report is to serve as a progress report of how well we are surviving this massacre. We have massive amounts of the undead roaming around. While we had many men, we’ve lost 10 men in one random ambush by the undead. Me and my friends decided to split up figuring that our chances of survival would be greater if the zombies couldn’t get us at the same time.

However, I kind of regretting that move now. Many of the others have reported and been killed by pink creatures that we’ve nicked named “fleshers”. These bastards are powerful enough to cut a human up with their claws or their tongues.

If we could just get to the weapon storage room we could buy some time with the ammo there and possibly get out. However the keycard reader isn’t powered and the keycard could be anywhere. Not to mention the path of the basement is within the more dangerous eastern part of the precinct where the creatures have control of. Oh man, I really hope we gotta of here. As I sit here now I can only imagine my friends being butchered now…” A long line follows the last word indicating that the author might had been attacked or worse, killed.

Bill sees a dead body that has been decapitated not too far from the report suggesting that the writer of the report was probably killed before he could finish his words.

“Damn Bobby, you were one of my favorite men to be with. I’ll miss you, damn! Hybrid you son of a bitch, you’ve gone too far!” Bill screams when he finds out the dead body was one of his good friends.

He heads to the back where he sees a fireplace that he never saw and a knight armor that was never there. All of a sudden, he gets the idea that the chief was bringing in strange items and hiding them. While he doesn’t mind the artwork, its how the chief got the money to get the artwork is what still bothers him. Looking in the fireplace he spots a red jewel and picks it up, then puts it in his side pack. Thinking the station might be more than meets the eye, he thinks he should keep it.

He exits the operations room and continues through the hallway. Bill spots a wooden door and heads through only to be surrounded by zombies upon entering. One of the zombies tries to grab him from behind and bite his arm. However, Bill is able to fight it off and runs towards the end of the hall. Upon reaching the end he begins to empty bullets to the horde of zombies killing them one by one. However he gets caught reloading when two zombies get uncomfortably close to him.

Bill spots a small opening between them. He runs and then slides through the space going under the zombies. When he gets more room he reloads his weapon and finishes off the zombies. He takes another deep breath and continues to the dark room.

He enters the dark room and finds some ammo lying around for his handgun, but that is the only useful thing he finds in the room. So he heads up the stairs where he enters a hall of more zombies, but less than the horde he had to deal with downstairs. He kills the zombies rather easily and heads to the NYPD Special Forces room. Checking the room out he finds another clip for his handgun and then checks a locker where he finds a grenade launcher with some rounds already in it.

“Hmm… now this is some firepower!” Bill says cheerfully.

Looking in one of the desks he finds a key lying around, but doesn’t know where it leads to. He takes it anyway and exits the room. After exiting the room he sees a young woman wearing a baby blue shirt and blue pants in the hall who runs away when she spots Bill fearing that he is another zombie.

He follows her to a door only to find it is locked and a vent on the left side that is too small to enter for him. Trying to use the key the door doesn’t open. Bill realizes that he has to go back downstairs, where he probably missed a door along the way.

So far Bill has managed to survive the terror inside the precinct, but little does he know that there will much more to the survival horror and as he goes along there will be many more near death experiences.
