After the kiss Leslie says in an even weaker voice, “Favor returned, Angel thank you for making my last wish come true…” Then her wound gets worse and she ends up bleeding to death falling to the floor. Also Angel’s mind gets thrown back into reality.
“Leslie no… Leslie!” Angel screams out almost crying and kneels down in defeat.
An automated message sounds saying, “The self-destruct sequence has been activated! This sequence may not be aborted, all employees head for the emergency train on the bottom platform.
After getting up he says in a calm tone, “I will always remember you and I will tell Maria that you were a good sister. Goodbye Leslie, you will never be forgotten.”
After saying his heartfelt words to Leslie he finds a shiny item next to her, it’s a key of some sort. Taking another look at it he sees it is the master key for the laboratory.
“I’ve seen an emergency panel in the panel, looks like that’s the way to the exit. I still haven’t found the others, could it be I’m going to be the only survivor escaping this mayhem alive. At least I got rid of Mr. Z, but Anthony is still out there. Oh well, we’ll see what happens.” Angel says to himself as the self-destruction message is being announced in a loop.
When he exits the power room his radio beeps to his surprise, he quickly picks up the radio.
“Bill is that you?”
“Yes it’s me! I can see you on the monitor, but that’s not important now. Look I need you to pick up Maria your girlfriend. I left her in the security room.”
“The security room?”
“Please Angel I’m counting on you! I still have some loose ends to tie here. We’re probably going to be the only survivors her, I’m afraid Annette got killed by her husband. She did help me though, look just get Maria out of the room her life depends on it.”
Angel is relieved to hear Bill’s voice, but still concerned as he has to pick up his girlfriend in the security room. What could have caused her to end up there? Not to mention that despite his best attempts to protect Annette, she has joined the afterlife.
Taking the elevator down, he heads for the security room. Once he enters the security room he sees Maria lying down unconsciously on the bed. He wonders what could be wrong with her, but he doesn’t get an answer from her even after kissing her in the head. He exits the room carrying her to the elevator and puts her down in the elevator while he activates the elevator’s emergency path.
Once the elevator finishes traveling towards the emergency platform, Angel sees a train and heads inside. Dropping Maria off at a bench, he tries to figure out how he will get the train started. Time is of the essence.
Angel heads to the back of the train and finds some bullets for his weapons as well as a key to open the back area of the platform. He also finds an instruction manual on how to start the train.
The manual indicates that he the power must be delivered to the train in the back platform area by installing the 2 joint plugs to the power supply. After that the train should be powered after a 2 minute delay, once that’s done he will have to go back to the front platform area and open the tunnel gates. Finally after everything is done, all he has to do is start the train. Hopefully by then Bill will be able to catch up.
Once he exits the train, he heads for the back platform by opening the gate. After opening the gate an automated message indicates that there is only ten minutes left until the lab blows. Now that makes time management much more important, Angel is so close to escaping the mayhem along with Maria. What last minute surprises could be waiting for him? There’s no time to waste.
Chapter 12
After he hears that he has only ten minutes to escape, Angel runs as fast as he can up the stairs. The stairs lead him to a platform that takes him to the back side of the platform area. Upon reaching the back area he spots the two startup plugs in their proper storage area. He grabs them and spots a metal door to the power room. Upon entering through the door he spots the pot of lava that Mr. Z fell into. He’s in the power room for the train, all he has to do in install the plugs into their respective slots and that should start the power.
After inserting the plugs the generator begins to power up, but goes into the delay as noted by the manual. He attempts to exit the room, but the door is locked as well. He tries to bust the door open with no luck and keeps turning the knob hoping that the door is just busted with the same result.
“Shit! This wasn’t in the goddamn manual, son of a bitch. That lava is acting up! I hope I don’t get burned. Oh great day in the morning…” Angel is in shock when he sees what pops out of the lava.
To his disbelief, Mr. Z not only survived the lava bath, but also has become even more powerful. What Angel doesn’t realize is that the red trench coat look was only a shell of Mr. Z’s true form. The creature comes out with its head in a mutated form, as well as an ugly looking body surrounded by flames. However the biggest feature is its claw on the right hand.
Angel pulls out his magnum and begins to fire at Mr. Z. However Mr. Z exhibits another one of his surprises, its increased speed as it’s running towards him. He sidesteps to his right to avoid the running claw attack. He pumps in a few more bullets before Mr. Z grabs him with its left hand and throws him to the wall. The impact of the attack causes him to land on his bad back that is still recovering. The pain in his back returns and although not as bad, it still limits his speed.
He gets up as quickly as he can to avoid Mr. Z putting its claw through his downed body. He runs trying to get some distance from the creature in order to shoot him a few more times. However, the creature runs after him forcing him to dive to the left in order to avoid being hit by the claw.
“Shit this bastard is a persistent one. He’s probably supposed to represent my worse nightmare. Right now he’s doing a good job of being my nightmare, haunting me throughout my journey.” He says in his head barely surviving.
Angel shoots Mr. Z with more magnum rounds until he has to reload. Mr. Z actually kneels down for a quick second. That enables him to reload his gun. The creature gets up and begins to swing his claw relentlessly. Angel continues to backup and avoiding the claw attacks only to find himself running out of real estate until he hits a wall.
“Well I gotta keep shooting him, maybe he’ll go down.” He says as he prepares to shoot non-stop until he runs out of bullets.
He shoots his Desert Eagle non-stop aiming for the head. Despite the head shots, Mr. Z continues to be relentless in attack Angel. One of his claw attacks hit Angel on his body. While not a squared shot the claw does cut him and forces him to fall hard to the ground. Mr. Z prepares to finish off Angel and he claws him…
After the impact, Angel sees nothing but white ahead of him. In his view he has been killed by Mr. Z and is prepared to go to the afterlife.
“I died but I can still talk and feel myself. What is this all about, am I dead or not? I didn’t even feel the impact, but I swore I saw the claw go right through me. Is this what death feels like?” He takes a deep breath until he sees someone in his view.
“Maria? Hey baby it’s me Angel!” Maria doesn’t move, in fact she is as still as a statue. “No come on baby don’t tell me you don’t recognize me! It’s your love, the one you love so much!” Despite his best efforts he can’t garnish her attention, which convinces him that he might be dead.
After that he begins to see everyone in his family, could this be a signal of everyone that he’s losing or is it just a mind trick? He also begins to see his childhood memories and when he first got together with Maria. What he doesn’t see is Mr. Z.
A minute later a mysterious person comes into the power room where Angel is down and shoots Mr. Z with a zap-gun killing the creature instantly. The person heads to Angel and picks him up. The two of them head towards the train that is now powered and ready to take off.
After five minutes pass by Angel finds himself in the train with the mystery man and Maria who is still down. Another minute passes and Angel begins to wake up. When he opens his eyes he sees Bill and realizes that he’s still alive.
“Yes Angel you’re still alive. I opened the doors already. You just need to start the train. You gotta try to get up we don’t have much time!” Bill explains the situation.
Angel gets up and heads to the front of the train to start it. Once the train is started he returns to the sitting area as the train begins to pull away.
“How the hell did I survive that? I thought I was a dead man for a moment back there, actually I was dead and you…” Angel says in shock.
“No you weren’t dead, only unconscious. I came in just in the nick of time to take out that creature or should I say I fried him to a crisp. I patched you up so you wouldn’t bleed so much, you should be ok now.” Bill explains what had happen when Angel was down.
“Maria! Is she gonna be alright?” He asks Bill frantically realizing she is still down.
“I hope so. Anthony infected her with one of those ‘Broken Arrow’ virus embryos. This vaccine should work or at least I hope. I just gave her a shot, come on Maria get up, please wake up!” Bill screams.
Ten seconds later she begins to open her eyes and says, “Where am I?”
“Yes it worked, Maria you’re going to be safe!” Angel says happily.
“Oh thank God, you should be ok now sweetheart and yes your boyfriend is right here next to me.” Bill replies.
“Babe you were great, I love you so much. I’m happy to have a hero like you as my boyfriend.” She says while blushing.
“I love you too babe, glad we’re getting out of here alive. It’s over! However, you have Bill to thank as well.” Angel says.
“No it’s not, we still have to get out of here and expose those Hybrid freaks.” Bill answers.
“Bill you’re right, this is only the beginning!” Angel says as he begins to walk to the front of the train.
He walks towards the front of the train where the controls are located. While his body does hurt, he’s able to ignore the pain. There is one thing he can’t get off his head and that is he has to tell Maria that her sister Leslie is dead. While he could hide the kissing forever, Leslie’s death is something Maria must know about.
Before he heads back to his girlfriend he has one last thing to say to Leslie from his heart, “Goodbye Leslie…”
Angel’s Nightmare Two - Bill’s Story
Chapter 1
With the sun rising and shining through his waterfront home located in Freeport, New York, Bill wakes up ready for another day.
Bill is a man of German descent knocking on his fifties and will soon be retiring in a few years. However, he feels he still has a few years left in him and is not in a rush to quit his job just yet. He is a Lieutenant at the NYPD’s 75th precinct where he has served for close to 25 years serving the city.
He eats breakfast with his dear wife who is around the same age as he is. While he has kids, they are all grown and are living their own lives. At times he feels lonely now that he doesn’t have his kids with him, but at least he doesn’t have to be concerned about supporting his kids.
“Hey dear, that breakfast was good as always. Well it’s time for me to go.” Bill says complimenting his wife’s breakfast.
“Honey don’t you think you should think of retiring soon? I’m just worried about you and I like to see the kids more often.” His wife replies.
“I know you’re worried, but I’m well respected. Nothing is going to happen to me, trust me honey. Besides we’re going to see our son for Thanksgiving. I got an interesting week coming up. We’re getting a fresh batch of recruits.”
“Just be careful out there, ok?”
“I’ll be fine my dear, you can call me anytime you want.” Bill says bye to his wife while kissing her.
He’s particularly excited as the new recruits coming in might contain a diamond in the rough. Also it reminds him of the days when he was just a cadet. He’s rather proud of the process that he’s made since he started back in 1987, although things back in East New York were rather wild. After getting his uniform he heads into his gray 2012 Ford Explorer Limited Edition and pulls out from his house.
His normal trip consists of getting out of his quiet neighborhood and hopping onto NY route 27 west or also known as the Sunrise Highway. Normally the trip is smooth until he gets close to the Queens-Long Island border, but today the traffic is surprising light. Due to the light traffic, Bill is able to get to work about 45 minutes early.
Once he gets to work he realizes he’s rather early he decides to grab a cup of joe to give him an extra boost. After the time passes he reports for work and enters the precinct. He sees the recruits enter and he gets a quick look at them. None of them really stand out physically, but he knows you can’t judge a book by its cover. He’s in charge of the target practice training, but that isn’t until Wednesday.
Around ten in the morning he gets his orders for the day which is to patrol the City Line area. The area is mostly comprised of Muslims and a Hispanic/Italian minority. He likes the area since it’s mostly a peaceful area contrary to the areas further south closer to New Lots Ave, which have been drug infested areas for the longest.
Also helping him is the fact that it is a Monday and many people aren’t shopping or not during the early morning hours. Most of the day is uneventful until he spots a shoplifter trying to escape from a shoe store. He sees the man and chases him down the block.
The man runs across the street and Bill runs after him. The light turns green and traffic begins to roam in both directions, the man gets to the other side of the street. Bill on the other hand gets hit by a car. Luckily for him the car was only going 5 miles per hour.
As a result he is taken down to the ground, but he’s able to recover despite having a sharp pain on his legs. He continues to chase the suspect until he gets to the bench area of a small park. Calling for backup he continues to run after the bad guy, but the suspect trips and falls down.
Bill is able to catch up with the man and prepares to apprehend the man. However, the man pulls out a butcher knife and begins to attempt to slash Bill.
“I’m going to kill you officer! You die today!” The man says in an Arabic accent probably originating somewhere from Algeria or a part of the Middle East.
A closer look at the suspect shows that he is Middle Eastern although he is not wearing traditional Middle Eastern clothing.
Not taking any chances on the livelihoods of the citizens or his own well-being he pulls out a taser gun.
“Listen calm down or I will shoot! Get down on the ground now! I will not warn you again!” Bill yells at the suspect.
“I will kill you, Allah will be grateful…” The suspect screams like a madman ready to lunge at Bill, until he is tackled by other officers from behind. “You son of a bitch!” The man says again.
“Shut up, you’re under arrest for shoplifting and attempted murder against law enforcement. I will read your rights. You have the right to remain quiet and you have a right to a lawyer, if you can’t afford one we will help you get one. Anything you say can be and will be used against you in a court of law.” Bill reads the man the Miranda rights.
Despite tough words from the suspect the situation becomes defused once backup arrives and take the man to jail.
“Are you ok Bill?” An officer asks Bill.
“Yeah I’ll be fine, just took a small hit from a car. I’ll be alright though, I promise. I don’t want my wife to worry about me.” He responds.
“Please sir, go to the hospital just to make sure.”
“I said I will not, is that clear?” Bill answers in a nasty tone.
He gets a call from the chief that he picks up.
“Listen go to the hospital, it’s for your own good. If not, I will gladly suspend you from service, do I make myself clear?” The chief says.
“Ah… yes sir.” Bill replies in a defeated tone.
“Ok, get better soon my friend.” The chief says.
About five minutes later the paramedics come to pick Bill up to take him to the hospital. Bill thinks he’s ok, but what will the diagnosis say when he gets to the hospital? Also how will his wife react to hearing he is in the hospital? What Bill doesn’t know is that this near-death experience is nothing compared to what he will endure when the failed experiments of the Hybrid Corporation begin to leak into the public. The nightmare has yet to begin for poor old Bill.
Prepare to experience the continuation of the nightmare in the point of view of Bill.
Chapter 2
Bill is taken to the hospital where he’s checked out. Despite getting hit by a car he escapes the ordeal with only a sprained ankle. He calls his wife and reassures her that he is ok. The chief walks into the room where Bill is being checked out to see how he’s doing.
“Hey Bill… glad you’re… doing ok... You had me scared for a while.” The chief says while stuttering on and off.
“Yes I am, see I told you I was ok. You get nervous too quickly.” Bill replies.
“No… I just worry about you and I know your wife gets worried easily… Which is why… I decided… to give you the rest of the week off. So your leg can heal.”
“With all due respect sir, but I’ll just be doing target practice the rest of the week. I’m sure I won’t be that hurt.”
“Please just listen to me. I don’t want to chance anything. Actually I’m not asking, I’m ordering you to take the rest of the week. I trust you will follow these orders for your own sake. It’s for your own good. I’ll see you next week.”
As much Bill doesn’t want to follow the orders, he knows the chief will be more than glad to fire him. While he doesn’t mind spending time with his wife, one thing he does mind is that all of a sudden the chief wanted him to stay home so badly for such a trivial reason. In the past when he’s taken a small injury that he was able to work through the chief would let him work through it.
