“Holy shit, let me guess you must have been the one to behead Dennis Clark. I guess there’s no reasoning with you, well I’ll just have to kill you the hard way.” Luis tries to keep his confidence up despite seeing the intimidating zombie.

The zombie wastes no time and goes after Luis trying to behead him just like Clark. He’s able to swiftly get out of the way of the slash attack from the zombie. He shoots the leg of the zombie trying to slow him down, but the zombie doesn’t slow down at all and the room where he’s located is rather small. So there isn’t much room to run for him, then the zombie corners him preparing to finish him off. The zombie with the scythe is shot down and killed, but by who? It’s Barry who comes to save the day. Luis is relieved to see that Barry was still alive. The only question where is Joe was and is he still alive?

“Barry, boy do I owe you a big one there. A second later I would’ve been like Dennis Clark on the floor. Hey Barry, weren’t you with Joe, what happened?” Luis asked Barry.

“Well… we got separated by these creatures, listen Luis I think I know how we can get out of here. We need to get to the roof, there is a helicopter located up there that we can use to break out of this hell hole. Anyway we need to focus on getting our escape route first and hopefully we’ll find Joe afterwards.” Barry tells Luis in a bit of an arrogant tone.

“Barry what have you discovered so far?” Luis asks.

“Not much I’m afraid. Listen there are many more rooms left in this mansion yet to be explored. This is a bigger mansion than I previously thought or experienced…”

“What do you mean experienced? Luis asks Barry.

“Well I got a tour of the place when I was much younger. We’re talking about when I was 9 or 10. My father and Dennis were buddies so to say. My father had an interest in Hybrid, but Dennis wasn’t ready for that kind of commitment. By the time my father was ready, he died of a heart attack. Anyway I know a few things and what I do know is that we have to get to the courtyard if we are to have any chance of surviving. The zombies have completely taken over the streets and are beginning to find their way inside the mansion. We should split up so we can find the exit faster, here’s my phone number you can call it to let me know where you are. Anyway let’s get moving!” Barry lectured Luis for a few minutes.

While Luis doesn’t know much about the relationship between the Clark’s and Alexander’s which was Barry’s last name, he can’t help but feel like Barry knows a little more than he’s saying. Perhaps he may shed some light on what the Hybrid Corporation was working on before these events took place. Anyway Barry’s right, standing around isn’t going to help matters. Luis needs to find his way out and if possible find Joe alive.

  Chapter 4

Luis heads through the door way where the zombie had popped out and explores inside. He finds a rusty looking hallway full of spider webs and lots of dust. There’s a medieval style door up a small ramp which is locked and a door at the end of the hall. He heads inside the room, which is a small dining room. It’s probably used to house servants. However by the look of the room, it looks like it hasn’t been used in a long time. Dust is on everything that he touches including the floor and the dust even got into his lungs causing him to cough for a few seconds.

When he investigates the room he sees some more clips for his handgun and shells for his shotgun. He pushes a cabinet filled with low-quality plates and after pushing it all the way, a secret room is revealed. The smell from the room was extremely horrible. It’s coming from a dead body that is inside.

“Oh my lord, that smell is horrendous! How long has that body been in there, looks like forever or at least more than 5 years!” He says while trying to hold his breath avoiding the smell of the decomposed body.

Despite the smell, he wants to see if there is anything of use inside the room. He finds a key with an R on it. He has no idea what the R means, but he takes the key anyway. He runs of out the room, back onto the hallway where he catches his breath in relief.

The first door he tries is the medieval door, but the key doesn’t fit. He backtracks just like Barry said to see if there were anymore unexplored rooms in the mansion. He arrives at the hallway with the stairs heading down, but instead of taking the stairs he continues down the hall. He finds a door which reads researchers dorm, he uses the key, and the door opens.

When the door is opened he is ambushed by a zombie who grabs him by his left leg. The zombie takes a bite on his leg, he shoots the zombies head killing it. He takes a look at the wound and is relieved that it’s nothing more than a minuscule bite that would heal itself. He sees a door to the right and enters where he finds the dorm rooms of a researcher for the Hybrid Corporation. The dorm room is filled with a couple of twin sized beds suggesting that the researcher probably had an assistant.

It’s a dull brown wooden room and the lighting is rather dim as well. Luis looks under one of the beds for any evidence and comes up empty. Then he looks under the other bed he sees the dead body of a researcher or his assistant. He is scared to touch the body because it may be a zombie. He heads to the cabinet where he finds a broken letter ripped in half, the letter reads:

“I’m so sorry dear Linda, the love of my life. You were right about taking the job of taking the job at the Hybrid Corporation. I should’ve never taken that job! Dennis was rather nice to me, but Herman was a complete douchebag. I hated that man with a passion, balking orders like he was some big shot. I got along with assistant Moe rather fine. In fact, he was the only person I really talked to, being that we were stuck in this mansion most of the time. The only break we had was dinner and whenever there was a holiday. I looked forward to the holidays, since I was able to leave this hell hole! I really wanted to see you, but I never got the opportunity to see you. That’s because I never really had enough time to go back home and back. We were always being watched and micromanaged by Herman.

To make the long story short we were put in charge of making some substance to cure cancer or at least that’s what they wanted the public to think. The Hybrid Corporation told us that we were the foundation of an empire. From that point on I was worried that we were just being used.

On May 31 (the year is unreadable) strange behaviors were beginning to occur in humans. The behaviors were also exhibited on spiders, frogs, and iguanas. One day I saw a spider the size of a pool table. Luckily for me it was locked in the cage so it couldn’t come after me. Moe and I came up with a plan to escape this mansion, so I could go to you my dear. However the virus has spread too fast and it’s only a matter of time before I go…” The rest of the letter is missing.

After reading the letter, Luis is concerned that this zombie outbreak isn’t natural and it is an experiment gone wrong or maybe it is Hybrid’s intention to “clean the world” to build their empire. However, he has no time to think of a NWO scenario, as he needs to find his way out of the mansion.

He heads to the research room where he sees a bookshelf, fish tank, and a study table. Basically everything you would find in a research room, the room is filled with blue wallpaper and the lighting is much better than the dorm room. He looks for anymore evidence or anything of interest.

He finds a switch below a microscope on the table. Pressing the button causes the fish tank to empty. He begins to look inside the tank expecting to find something, but finds nothing. However he notices the tank can be moved, so he begins to move the tank. After pushing the tank to the wall, he sees a plug that is not plugged onto the electrical receptacle. He plugs in the wire having no idea what it would power. All of a sudden the bookshelf turns around and a keybox is revealed. He opens the keybox and a key with a picture of a painter palette is inside.

Upon grabbing the key, a zombie in a lab outfit pops through the door. The zombie goes after him and he doesn’t have enough time to get a good shot on the zombie. So he has to run back, but the zombie continues to give chase. He runs around the room until the zombie impales itself with the coat hanger that falls over. He breathes a sigh of relief knowing the zombie is dead.

The only question that remains in his head is, was that zombie the researcher on the letter or Moe his assistant? He could care less, he continues down the hall where he sees the door to the library.

He enters the library where he sees several bookshelves and some hungry zombies ready to pounce on him. He is prepared though as he is able to kill all of the zombies and then the scene turned quiet. That is until a loud crash of a window is heard and a new creature is seen. The creature was an iguana on steroids you can say, it had enhanced movement, claws that could kill and it stood on two feet.

“Who the hell are you? Oh boy I’ll never see iguanas the same ever again. I’ll be having nightmares about these guys!” Luis says in shock when he sees the creature.

The creature code named “Lizarda” jumps up onto the bookcase trying to jump onto Luis. He’s able to get out of the way of the attacking creature. Lizarda attacks with its claws, but he is able to keep up and dodge every swipe. It jumps back and bull runs towards him trying to behead him, but he is able to dodge the creature. It proves to be hard to shoot down as seen in its agility. It jumps on Luis and tries to claw him until its shot by Barry.

“Barry that’s the second time you save my butt. Are you sure you aren’t my guardian Angel?” Luis asks Barry in relief.

“No, I just happen to hear the commotion and I thought to check it out. Anyway, glad I could help you out. Now we gotta get going, there has to be a secret entrance somewhere in this place. You continue in here and I’ll continue looking for Joe.” Barry replies to Luis.

Luis was grateful for Barry saving him, but something just doesn’t seem right. He can’t put his finger on the exact problem though. Luis decides to stop overthinking and sees what the library has to offer up when it comes to evidence.

Besides some bookshelves that were knocked down there isn’t much to be found. He spots a strange tile on the floor that is unlike the other tiles in the library. The floor is mostly made of green tiles, but he spots a red tile. So he steps on it and then all of a sudden the fireplace opens up. A secret passage can be seen with a ladder leading down, he has no idea what’s below. However, he has nothing that could get him through the courtyard gate, so he has no choice. He treks down the ladder into the abyss of the unknown.

  Chapter 5

Luis goes down the ladder very slowly because of the lack of light. However as he gets closer to the bottom light starts to peek through and once he hits the surface. He finds himself in a basement hallway which has a creepy blue tone to it, ominous to say the least.

A door lies ahead, a Lizarda drops from the ceiling. This time though he has no backup. Nevertheless Luis is able to keep up with the creature and able to shoot it down. That is until another Lizarda tries to ambush him. The creature scrapes him, but he is able to kill off the creature.

Luis sees that the slash is pretty deep and he begins to bleed quite a bit. He finds a cloth to put over the wound to stop the bleeding. He proceeds through the door only to be greeted by another hallway and a couple of giant tarantulas.

“I thought I seen it all. I guess the lab worker wasn’t losing his mind after all, there are indeed giant spiders in this mansion.” Luis says in his mind.

Unlike Angel, Luis doesn’t have a fear of spiders, but nevertheless he is still intimidated by the creatures. The spiders try to shoot acid towards him, they miss him, but the toxicity level is high that the door behind him burns down. He is able to shoot one of the spiders down, but the other grabs him with its legs. The spider begins to tighten his grip on him, he has one more shotgun shell left, and he has to make it count.

Luis shoots the spider in its mouth which is its weak spot, the spider falls and dies. He catches his breath after another close encounter with death. He continues down the hall to a metal door which leads him to a kitchen, where he finds some shotgun shells and also the key for the courtyard gate.

“Well what do you know? Chef Boyardee had the key all along. Who would’ve guessed? Now I can go open that damn gate!” Luis said humorously in his head.

He just needs to get to the courtyard, so he decides to leave the kitchen using the door. However to his surprise a zombie is waiting for him on the other side. The zombie grabs him trying to eat his brains out and he throws it into the kitchen. He kicks the zombies towards the stove, turns on the stove, and presses the zombies head on the stove until it burned.

The smell may be foul, but it’s better than being mince meat for the zombie. He heads towards the courtyard, but before he could get to the hallway he has to deal with some more Lizardas along the way. By now he has recognized the creature’s moves, so dealing with them becomes slightly easier. At least he doesn’t get hurt along the way. He keeps on going until he reaches the courtyard where he used the key to open the courtyard gate.

After opening the courtyard gate, he goes through into the courtyard of the mansion. Luis has to take care of several zombies and rabid dogs. Nothing he can’t handle, but his ammunition is beginning to run low. After killing the creatures he walks along the courtyard until he sees what Barry was saying about the chopper on the roof.

Now it’s just the matter of getting up there, he continues until he reaches a tool shed, a rather rusty one. Upon arriving inside he finds a map of the mansion showing him where the roof is located. It’s where the medieval door is, but there is a room below as well. Another issue is, Joe still hasn’t been found, and Barry is on his own. That leaves him to assume that Joe is either dead, lost, or trapped in the mansion. A key with a helmet emblem is also obtained, now Luis was heading up towards the roof.

“Well looks like it’s just going to be me and Barry. Damn it Joe, where can you be? You gotta be here somewhere.” Luis says in his mind.

He heads back inside the mansion. As he heads inside, the sky darkens even more like a thunderstorm is about to hit. However, no rain falls or no thunder is heard either. He heads to the hall with the medieval style door, but he notices the doorknob is broken on the door that would lead him to the direct route to the roof.

Luis begins starting to get suspicious. After all, why would the doorknob be broken unless somebody didn’t want him up there? He decides he needs to find Barry and get the low down on what is really going on.

He has to go all the way around the mansion where he nearly gets killed by the many creatures along the way. Despite that, Luis remains strong. He finds some ammo along the way and is closing in to the door he needs to open. Eventually he is able to reach the door and he uses the key to open the door. He opens the door carefully and finds himself in a wooden room which is beyond repair.

A sound is heard. He goes to investigate and finds that Joe is tied up. As he begins to untie Joe, Barry approaches with his gun raised.

“Freeze right there! Hmm… what do we have here, Luis and Joe reunited. If only you knew exactly what was going on!” Barry says in a deceitful voice.

“What the hell Barry? What is this all about? Don’t tell me you’re a traitor. You son of a bitch, you’re in this Hybrid plot aren’t you? How much are they paying you, huh?” Luis is shocked.

“So you’re working with Hybrid, I can’t believe it!” Joe says in shock.

“You guys are smart I have to admit. You see I was a scientist with Hybrid and this was supposed to be a secret project. However, as you can see it’s gotten out of control. You two aren’t making it out of here alive!” Barry threatens the duo.

“So you’re a puppet of Hybrid, I guess. That’s pretty pathetic!” Luis says angrily.

“There you go again Luis, assuming you know everything. I’m just using the Clark family for my own benefit.” Barry says bashfully.

“So you’re planning something else?” Joe asks Barry

“If you had the ultimate substance, if you were able to make everyone mindless zombies, and rule the world easily, what would you do? What if you were in charge? You fools actually thought I was working with Hybrid? I’m taking over Hybrid and Herman won’t even know about it!” Barry says arrogantly.

“You fool, you will be the ruler of nothing because no one will be here on Earth or you just like the thought of Armageddon hitting us?” Luis says to Barry with a fire in his eye.

“Well, I was planning to move everyone to Mars because just look at Earth, it’s falling apart! Now if you guys want to keep this a secret and join me to Mars we can make it happen.” Barry attempts to entice the duo to his offer.

“I rather die in this room than work with a snake like you Barry!” Joe shouts.

“Well Joe if that’s the case, you and Luis can both go to hell!”

Before Barry is able to shoot the duo a giant snake pops from the ceiling, to the shock of the trio. The snake comes into the room.

“Hahaha, well it looks like the snake will do the dirty work for me.” The snake comes towards Barry’s direction. “No! What the hell! Attack them not me! No!” Barry screams in agony as the snake bites and tears him apart.

The snake comes after the duo and then the snake comes for Luis, but Joe is able to push him out of the way. The snake heads to the wall while Luis and Joe begin to empty bullets onto the snake.

The snake remains alive and tries to wrap itself around the duo. The two of them see a wooden plank above them, they jump on the plank, and the snake curls itself to a ball. The two of them keep on shooting the snake until the plank loosens and cracks. Joe almost falls into the mouth of the snake, but Luis holds him for dear life. Luis continues to shoot bullets into the giant snake’s mouth until it screams in pain and falls.
