Ultimate Nightmare Set, page 44
part #1 of Angel's Nightmare Adventure Series
When he enters through the hatch, he sees a couple of Hybrid grunts trying to shoot their way out of a zombie horde. While they kill some of the zombies, the last three end up eating them alive. Hondo pulls out his pistol and kills two of the zombies before he has to reload his weapon. The third zombie without Hondo suspecting is a crimson face zombie and the zombie rushes towards him. It slashes him on his right side, but he’s still surviving.
Pistol Ammo: 19
Condition: Danger
The zombie tries to grab him, but he punches the zombie in the face. Grabbing the zombie, he slams the head of the zombie into the metal hatch door until its head cracks open. Once he sees blood, he continues until he’s certain that its dead. After killing the zombie, he checks the two dead grunts that were killed.
“Might not be ethical, but they won’t be needing their ammo.” He says as he looks through the bodies. On the first body he finds some ammo.
Picked up Two Pistol Clips. Pistol Ammo: 49
Once he picks up the ammo, he checks the other dead body and finds something useful.
Picked up a First Aid Spray.
Hondo uses the First Aid Spray.
Condition: Fine
He feels some relief after using the first aid spray and tries to go through the hatch. However, it’s locked to his frustration.
“Another locked door!” He says angrily.
Seeing a ladder leading down, he falls down into a small pool of water that is rather shallow. A couple of froggers are down in the area and they jump towards him. He simply runs from them knowing they really have no way to attack him. Running from them, he turns the corner in a small tunnel until he sees the other side of the room where a ladder is located.
A couple more froggers are in that part of the room. One of them is close to him and actually attacks him with its claws dealing a small amount of damage. The other grabs him with its tongue and tries to eat him whole. Hondo holds on to his pistol and shoots five shots into the frog’s mouth. The pain is not enough to kill the frogger, but it’s enough for Hondo to get free.
Getting free, he doesn’t even bother with the frogs and goes up the ladder. Going up the ladder knowing the froggers can’t get to him downstairs, he gets to the upper level easily. Opening the hatch that is there, he finds himself out of the smelly sewers and in the northern maintenance area.
In the northern maintenance area, he sees more zombies wearing hard hats divided into two groups. There is one in the back where he is and another by the ladder that supposedly lets him out of the sewers. He shoots the hard hat zombies easily as he doesn’t let any get too close to him.
Pistol Ammo: 37
When Hondo walks in further, he is grabbed by two zombies on his feet. The combined bites are enough to cause a good amount of damage.
Condition: Caution (Level 1)
He takes his right foot and kicks the head of the zombie that was biting his leg. As for the other zombie, he performs a double-axe handle on its head. Once he gets his left leg free, he steps on the head of the zombie to kill it. As for the other zombie on the floor, it’s wearing a hard hat. Hondo uses his pistol to finish it off.
Pistol Ammo: 35
When he gets to the front part of the room, he sees another horde of zombies walk towards him. Looking for anyway to conserve ammo, he shoots a flammable canister nearby that explodes next to them. Most of them are blown up with the exception of one that he kills off easily with his pistol in three shots.
Pistol Ammo: 32
The maintenance area is cleared, but Hondo sees no boxes around. What he does see is a ladder that he climbs until he reaches a hatch that he pops open. Seeing the darkening skies, he climbs out until he is out of the sewers.
After getting out of the sewers, he begins to see the sky begin to darken like a really bad thunderstorm is coming. Also a strong rather cool northerly wind begins to blow at him. Although it’s a cold wind, it’s also an intimidating wind as it symbolizes the ever so darkening situation that has been presented to him.
“Man it’s must be only 9 in the morning, but it sure doesn’t look like it. The dam should be ahead. Dawn where could you be? I hope she’s not dead…” He says to himself as he hears the sound of thunder.
***
Elza heads outside to the sewer entrance to see if she has a chance to enter the sewers to assist Hondo and Dawn. However, what she finds indicates the worst possible scenario. The area where the entrance is begins to flood and the hole begins to fill with water. While the water never gets too high, but it’s enough for Elza to become concerned that the two have drowned.
“Oh no… Hondo… Dawn… those two are down there. I hope the water is not rushing down there.” She says to herself.
George comes out of the communication station along with Anne and sees Elza standing there by herself.
“Hey Elza, what are you doing?” He asks.
“The sewers are flooding! Hondo and Dawn are in serious danger! Is there anything we can do from here?”
“I’m afraid not… I got no communication with them at this time. We don’t have anything either to blow that tunnel either and even if we did it might collapse even more.”
“So we just sit here and do nothing?”
“I’m afraid so… for now at least. The chopper won’t be here for another 45 minutes and that’s the fastest he can get here.”
George and Elza know there is very little they can do besides pray that Hondo and Dawn are still ok in the sewers. If they die, the water supply could be in serious jeopardy with air support being close to an hour away.
Chapter 3
Meanwhile Dawn has fallen into the whirlpool and is defenseless against the strong sucking power of the whirlpool. After 5 minutes of going through the wild ride, she finally falls into a pool of water.
“...” Nothing is heard or nothing is seen moving.
Five minutes pass and by some miracle, Dawn opens her eyes and begins to ride the current until she ends up on a platform. Using her last bit of energy to go up the platform, she catches her breath once she gets up to the platform.
“Damn… what the hell… just happened… to me…” She stays silent for a few seconds to catch her breath and says, “I was drawn… to a whirlpool and… all I could see was water… water and darkness…”
She gets next to the wall and tries to regain her equilibrium. After a few minutes she begins to talk to herself again, “Damn, I really thought I was dead for a moment. At least, I was supposed to be dead… All I can remember is being with Hondo and missing my jump…” She thinks and realizes that she’s lost Hondo.
“Hondo! Where did he go? Or rather, where am I? Shit, I might have been sucked to a lower part of the sewers. Anyway, staying here isn’t gonna to solve anything, I better get moving.” She says as she gets up.
Dawn’s Playthrough
Items:
Assault Rifle Ammo: 50%
First Aid Spray
Hookshot
Condition: Fine
Once she gets up she finds herself on a lower platform seeing an upper area. The ladder is up and she is unable to reach it despite jumping. She looks around for anything and spots a small piece of wood she can use her hookshot on.
Before she pulls out her hookshot though, a couple of froggers pop out of the water and threaten to make Dawn their next meal. Pulling out her hookshot quickly, she aims at the wood.
“See you suckers!” She says as she shoots the hookshot at the wood.
The grappling hook hits the wood and she rides up to the upper platform leaving the 2 huge frogs on the lower levels. Heading to the upper level, she spots a small group of zombies that she kills easily with her assault rifle.
Assault Rifle Ammo: 49%
After killing the zombies, she spots a couple of dead Hybrid grunts. Looking through the body of one of them, she finds a clip of ammo.
Picked up a Rifle Magazine. Assault Rifle Ammo: 79%
Dawn then takes a look at the other dead body and finds something rather interesting.
Picked up a Heavy Grappling Hook. This upgrades the Hookshot, now you can use the Hookshot to grab soft metal spots in addition to wood.
Dawn attaches the new hook and literally upgrades her hookshot to be more useful. Seeing a hatch up ahead, she heads inside to find a dark hallway with another hatch up ahead. She walks towards the hatch until she sees a huge gush of water come from above. The water pressure is so great that the floor breaks and getting to the hatch is impossible.
“Man I gotta another way before I get flooded in here!” She says.
Dawn sees a broken pipe next to her that is big enough to fit a human. Seeing there is no choice and heading back leads to a dead end, she jumps into the pipe.
She goes down for a wild ride and just hopes there is water down below. After a 30 second ride down where she screams her lungs out, she ends up hitting water and falls under. Fighting to get back above water, she swims up fighting for her life.
After a bit of a struggle, she finally gets above water and sees that she is surrounded by the concrete wall of the pipe.
“Aghhh… Nothing like almost drowning to help wake you up quick, huh Dawn!” She says as she nearly drowns.
“Now let’s see… how can I get out of this pipe.” She says looking for anything.
She looks around the pipe to see if she can escape, but she finds nothing that she can hook her hookshot to or any cracks on the walls. Beginning to panic, she bangs on the wall to see if anything happens. That panic turns to hope when he hears a timer along with a click indicating a mine of some sort.
Getting underwater, a part of the wall blows up and her path to escape is revealed.
“Ahe… It looks someone solved that problem for me.” She says hopeful for escape.
Getting back above water, she climbs out of the pipe and sees the Hybrid grunt who placed the mine be eaten by a couple of hard hat zombies before he could open the hatch.
“No… No! Argghhhh!” The grunt screams as the zombies eat his brains out.
Seeing the two hard hat zombies eat the grunt, she doesn’t take any chances and shoots them easily. After killing the zombies, she tries to open the hatch in front of her. However, despite turning the handle on the door, the hatch refuses to open.
“Damn this hatch is locked!” She says as she looks for a way to release the lock.
She finds herself in a small area that is surrounded by different colored pipes leading to the different areas including the dam and sewers.
At first, she looks around the room only to find nothing that will unlock the door. When she looks up, she sees a small piece of aluminum on the ceiling that her hookshot should be able to hook onto.
Dawn USES her Hookshot.
Shooting her hookshot onto the soft metal, she’s able to get onto a platform. On the platform there is a red button on the floor that has to be depressed. Stepping on it, she hears the lock release. However, as soon as she gets off from it the lock re-engages.
“I’ll have to find something to keep on that switch. Hmm… that should help.” She says as she spots a wooden box to her left.
Pulling the box, she pulls it until she gets it on top of the button. Once she gets it on top of the button, the box sticks on top of the button releasing the lock on the hatch. Jumping down from the upper platform, she rolls when she gets on the floor to absorb the impact of the fall. When she opens the hatch, she hears a couple of grunts talking.
“Hurry up with that damn mine!” One of the Hybrid grunts say.
“Damn! That thing is armed! Ughhh!” The other grunt screams before the mine blows up in his face killing him.
The other grunt gets surrounded by Lizardas who overwhelm him and cut him up like butter to Dawn’s horror. Entering the room, she sees the three Lizardas that cut up the grunt. Two of the Lizardas come towards him and begin to slash her. She takes decent damage after taking two slashes from the creatures before running from them.
Condition: Caution (Level 1)
She backflips from the Lizardas and upon landing, she begins to shoot them with her assault rifle. She’s able to kill one of the Lizarda’s and concentrates her attention to the other Lizarda. The other Lizarda comes towards him and tries to cut her up like a can.
Press “A” and “B” to dodge… Great!
She is able to dodge from the Lizarda and dives to the floor. The creature growls and walks towards her. Dawn tries to get up, but sees the creature on top of her. The creature prepares to slash her and she uses her assault rifle to hit the creature in the head. When she hits it once, the Lizarda become a bit fazed giving Dawn enough time to get up.
The Lizarda growls again and she strikes it again with the rifle. Seeing a box of mines next to the creature, she shoots them and they explode next to it blasting it. What she forgets is the third Lizarda is still alive and it hits her from behind with its claw dealing a good amount of damage.
Condition: Caution (Level 2)
She falls to the ground and rolls on her back. She backs up as the lizard walks trying to corner her. Using her assault rifle, she shoots the creature with her rifle desperately trying to survive. Dawn runs out of room as she hits the corner, but keeps shooting the creature. Although the Lizarda gets close, she’s able to kill it as it falls to the ground.
Assault Rifle Ammo: 71%
She gets up relieved that she survived the ordeal and walks to the hatch. She tries to go through, but sees that the handle is blown off.
“Great! That idiot blew off the handle!” She says angrily.
She sees a map of what seems to be the aqueduct that provides water to New York City. All of a sudden she realizes that she’s in the aqueduct and getting out is going to be a tough task. Looking at the map though, the hatch that has the missing handle would have led her straight out of the aqueduct and back to the sewer system. Now she’ll have to find another way out. She sees a part on the map that appears to have been drawn out in pencil. According to the drawn out, there is a secret passage so to say that leads to the lower portion of the aqueduct.
The secret passage is within the water regulator machine. However, there are four buttons that have to be pressed on a certain order. Looking at the paper, she has to hit the left button on the lower level first. The second has to be right button on the upper platform. The third one has to be on the lower right side and the final one has to the upper left button.
Following the instructions, she goes to the left button and presses it. She hears a ticking sound, but doesn’t think much about it. Walking to the upper right button, she sees she can’t climb up there as there is no ladder. Looking up, she sees a soft piece of metal that she can hook to. Using her hookshot she hooks to the platform to press the button.
Jumping back down, she goes to the button on the right side and presses it. Heading to the left side, she uses the hookshot to go up the platform where the button is located. The ticking becomes faster and she can hear it. When she gets to the platform to press the button, she presses it but notices nothing happens. In fact, after she presses the button it comes back out.
“That ticking was probably indicating that these buttons have to be pressed in a certain amount of time.” She begins to think.
Jumping down, she heads back to the left button and presses it. Quickly she heads to the right side and hooks her way to the upper right platform to press the right button. Not wasting time, she goes down to the floor to press the lower right button. Finally, she goes to the upper left platform and uses her hookshot to go up. Pressing the button while the ticking can still be heard, she sees a hole open up on the water regulator machine.
Before she heads into the secret passage though, she decides to heal herself.
Dawn uses a First Aid Spray.
Condition: Fine
She looks at the grunt that was killed and she realizes that it’s someone she recognizes.
“No! It’s Justin, I had no idea he was with Hybrid… Why did he have to go like this?” She begins to shed a tear after seeing her friend becoming another casualty.
Looking in his pockets, she sees a health pickup inside.
Picked up a Green Herbal Mix.
When she has the pickup in her possession, she heads to the secret passage that opened. Crawling inside, she sees a hole that leads down to the lower levels of the aqueduct. Still having no contact with George or Hondo, she’s forced to take her chances going into the water. Going into the hole, she drops into the water with the current carrying her. She gets to the edge and falls further down while riding the current.
“Oh man and I forgot my water wings!” She screams as she’s in for a wild ride.
As the current continues to carry her, she is at the mercy of the current as she can’t really move anywhere. She sees a platform above her and when she passes it the current suddenly stops. A barrier begins to drop blocking the progress of the water.
Dawn sees the yellow ladder behind her and climbs up. As soon as she gets up, she sees a hatch that is locked. To make matters worse, the water begins to rise below her. The main controls for the water are in the room, but it’s protected by a bulletproof window.
“Oh man, I better find a way to get that barrier open or I’ll have to turn into a mermaid and boy do I suck swimming.” She says as she looks at a sign.
“Emergency switches are on the upper platforms. Do not come to this area without a hookshot to hook to the upper areas.”
After reading the sign, she sees one of the switches to her close to the ceiling. Using her hookshot, she goes up the platform and hits the switch. The water quickly gets up to her level when she sees another platform in front of her. Using her hookshot, she shoots it on the soft metal spot in front of her to get to the other switch.
The water arrives towards her knees as she hits the second switch. After hitting the second switch, Dawn is relieved to see the barriers opening and the water beginning to flow again away from her.
“That was close! It looks like I better continue through if I expect to get out this crazy place.” She says as she prepares to jump down.
