There is a gate leading to the cabin, but it is guarded by a few zombies as well. He runs to his right to find more zombies who are burning, but seem to still be moving. No better to his left with even more zombies approaching him. Angel is literally seeing white in front of him as he prepares to be attacked by the zombies.

“Oh shit this is it, I can’t believe this is the way I’m gonna go. Well babe, it was fun while it lasted. I hope you’re doing better than me.” Angel says what he thinks are his final words.

He kneels down while covering his face with his arms bracing for impact. That is until he hears a helicopter and an officer begins to unload bullets from a Gatling gun towards the zombies making quick work of them. Angel is shocked to see every single zombie go down, as if God had heard his cry for help. Then he hears the pilot with a megaphone saying commands.

“Hey you, young man open that gate and head for the roof. We’re gonna pick you up, but we need you to be on the roof. It’s too dangerous to go get you down there.”

Angel follows the orders and enters a parking lot for the cop cars. At the same time he’s thinking about Maria and the fact he can’t leave her alone. He has to decide whether to save his own skin or to risk his life going into the police station to save his girlfriend. Along the way, he sees a few zombies and at the guard post he sees something shining. As he approaches the guard post, he finds a set of keys to enter the cabin.

He grabs the keys while avoiding the clutches of the zombie and he enters the cabin quickly. Once he’s inside the cabin he catches his breath only to be interrupted by the noise of the metal door banging. The cabin is blue in color and is built out of brick. It’s also one of the weapon storage areas for the precinct. He puts a metal pipe to hold the door from being opened. Exploring the cabin he finds some clips of ammo for his pistol, body armor and some fresh peanuts that he gladly eats.

However, he can’t get too comfortable as the door begins to be busted open by the zombies outside. He heads out the other side while the zombies begin to overtake the cabin by storm. The moon continues to shine brightly as if nothing was taking place at ground level. Angel sees more zombies that he happily avoids to conserve ammo. He finds the stairs that leads to the roof. It looks like he will have to make the decision now.

He spots the helicopter in the sky still, but also spots another officer on the roof waving his hand.

“Hey down here!” The officer screams.

“It’s too dangerous to land there. I’m dropping a rope to you, grab onto it!” The pilot yells from the megaphone.

“Come on… Come on just a little closer.” The officer says to himself.

Angel begins to move forward until he sees a couple of zombies begin to chase the officer.

“Stay back… I’m warning you!” The officer says as he begins to use his machine gun against the zombies.

Despite trying to defend himself the zombies overwhelm him and begin to attack him. He keeps his finger on the trigger and the machine gun bullets hit the pilot. The pilot loses control of the helicopter and ends up crashing the chopper by the water tank, not quite taking it out. The helicopter explodes taking the lives of the zombies along with the officer and pilot of the chopper. The only thing Angel can do is watch the mayhem unfold and he realizes that he will have to find a way out himself.

On the other hand though his decision is a whole lot easier when it comes to whether he should go search for his girlfriend. Now there is no chopper, he has to go inside the police station like it or not. He sees a metal door leading to the 2nd floor of the police station. He has yet to explore the 2nd floor of the precinct. In fact, that part of the police station has always been a secret that has been well kept. Only the chief would go up as his office was located by the waiting room that hasn’t been used in years.

Angel gets a funny feeling that this police station has many dirty secrets ready to be revealed. He opens the metal door and heads inside.

  Chapter 4

After opening the door, Angel heads into a dark hallway with eerie dark green wallpaper. He hears a strange noise, so he pulls out his gun and walks slowly through the hallway. All of a sudden he sees a large group of crows on top of a dead officer’s body who has been pecked to death. He tries to walk slowly, but he sees the crows begin to fly and try to attack him. Using his pistol he shoots a few crows while the others fly out of the window scared for their lives.

Angel catches his breath and continues to trek through the hallway. He sees two doors one leading downstairs and one to his right leading to the rest of the 2nd floor. He figures that exploring floor by floor is the best approach rather than going up and down the precinct. So he continues through the second floor and enters another hallway that is on fire. The chief’s office is ahead, but the flames prevent him from moving forward. There is another door to his left, which leads to the waiting room.

Entering the waiting room, Angel catches his breath and decides to call Maria to see where she is. However, the call heads straight to voicemail instead to his concern.

“Damn her phone must be dead or at least I hope that’s what it is. Maria, where can you be?” Angel says worrisome.

Despite not getting an answer, Angel decides to remain positive and move on investigating the station. He exits the waiting room and finds himself in the main hallway of the precinct where he entered the first time, only that he’s on the second floor. He sees more zombies chasing his fellow cop mates. The cops try to take out the zombies, but they are outnumbered and eventually eaten alive. Angel comes to the aid of his fellow officers and kills the zombies, but it’s too little too late. By the time he kills the zombies, the cops are dead.

He checks the condition of the cops only to see the fatal bite marks on the bodies. A Remington tactical shotgun can be seen next to one of the corpses. As bad as Angel feels about taking advantage of his dead teammate, he knows that shotgun will be of better use if he takes it.

“Matt, I’ll avenge you. You were one of the funnier ones.” Angel tears up as he promises to avenge his dead friend that he met last week.

He sees another door leading to the library, but it’s locked. He decides to backtrack to the door that he passed back in the eerie hallway, realizing that he has to shutoff the fire on the roof. The chief of the precinct might just be the person that Angel needs to team up with. After opening the metal door, he heads down the stairs through the side hallway and enters the detective’s room. This is the detective division where undercover detectives used to work. Now it’s a cesspool of dead bodies of former detectives.

The area is also full of hungry zombies. He finds a pistol clip next to a dead detective. Angel uses it to reload and begins to shoot the zombies inside the room. One of the zombies leaps toward him, but he backs away just in time and shoots the zombie in the head. He moves forward by the computers until one of the zombies grabs him by his arm. He’s able to fight off the zombie. Afterwards he grabs a computer monitor and slams it on its head.

The final zombie comes out of the Lieutenant’s room. Using a knife he finds, Angel slashes the head of the zombie. As a result, the zombie is beheaded. Once the room is cleared, he begins to search the room as he tries to find anything he can use to shut off the fire by the helicopter crash. He searches every nook and cranny, until he bumps into a safe. It is locked, but there is a memo with a code that reads 4367.

He types in the code on the keypad to open the safe and he finds a few goodies inside. They include a map of the precinct, shotgun shells, and a valve handle.

“Hmm… a valve handle?” Angel says to himself. “Wait a minute… the water tank by the helicopter. I can shut off the fire using the water tank and hopefully that will get me closer to finding the others.

Angel heads back out to the roof and heads to where the valve handle can be used for the water tank. He sees where the handle can be inserted, after inserting he turns the handle until the water comes out of tank. The water falls right on the fire and shuts it off. Before heading inside he checks the helicopter, as he suspected nobody survived the crash, but he finds some shotgun shells that are still good. He finds nothing else in the chopper, so he heads inside.

Putting his hands on the handle on the door ready to go inside, Angel looks up in the sky and sees another chopper. However this one isn’t a police helicopter. In fact, by what Angel could tell it’s a Hybrid Corp. chopper. It’s lets down a red container that opens up and something drops into the 2nd floor hallway.

“Crap I don’t like the look of this, looks like Hybrid is trying to cover their tracks. I better be careful. I get a feeling I seen this creature before.” Angel says in his head as he nervously opens the door.

When he enters the hallway he sees the hallway is in bad shape, in fact after walking into the hallway the ceiling by the door collapses. The debris covers the door to the point where the roof is out of the question as an escape. Not that it was a good escape route anyway.

He hears heavy footsteps. Grabbing his shotgun, Angel walks slowly and turning the corner he spots his worse nightmare.

“NO! It can’t be, it’s Mr. Z! I thought I killed you? Wait a minute that was a dream. Son of a bitch, you’re uglier in real life!” Angel says in shock when he spots Mr. Z, a foe all too familiar to Angel.

Mr. Z is a foe that Angel met in his nightmare over five years ago. Mr. Z wears a red trench jacket and is a creature with an intimidating built. It’s able to suck up a lot of bullets before going down and has a powerful punch that kills humans in one or two punches. It’s ugly enough to give people nightmares for days, even months if not years. Its only weakness if you can call it a weakness is the lack of speed, but it makes up for that for its endurance. It’s twice Angel’s size in height and weight.

He pumps a few shotgun rounds to Mr. Z, but the red-jacket creature refuses to go down. The creature does a haymaker that Angel easily dodges. Angel backs up trying to gain some space from Mr. Z until he reaches the end of the hall. Then Mr. Z approaches him prepared to do a double-axe handle punch. Angel sees space between Mr. Z’s legs and just when the creature is ready to attack, he crawls through its legs. When Mr. Z turns around, Angel has the barrel of the shotgun in its face.

“See ya!” Angel says as he shoots Mr. Z in the head. “I know we’ll meet again.” Angel knows he’ll meet the creature again, only question is when.

Angel heads for the hallway that contained the fire. As he opens the door, Mr. Z gets right back up ready to strike again. He has no idea that Mr. Z has gotten up, but he has a strong feeling he will be meeting the creature again. As he enters, the hallway a couple of new creatures that are pink in color and have the look of human flesh without the skin.

These creatures are code-named “fleshers”, the name comes from mutated humans who give up their skin and show off their flesh. These mutated humans show off their brains raw, have long deadly claws, a deadly sharp tongue, and they give up their lack of vision in exchange for much better hearing. Their hearing is ten times better than radar sonar and twenty times better than of a bat.

Its weakness is the inability to see, so Angel must walk carefully around them. The fleshers are surprising docile when one does not make too much noise or get too close. Finally with the “Broken Arrow” virus they lose their ability to stand on two feet, they have to rely on all four feet. With that being said they’re able to climb up walls and ceilings.

Angel walks carefully through the fleshers while trying to keep his confidence high and prevent himself from getting nervous. He manages to walk through the fleshers without disturbing them at all. The only problem is the hallway leading to the chief’s office is covered in too much debris, that it covers it hindering forward progress. However, there is another door at the end of the hallway heading straight.

He heads inside of the door and finds himself in a room that leaves him in shock. It’s a storage room, but it’s full of art pieces such as statues, paintings and tapestries.

“What’s an art room doing in the middle of the 75th precinct? Never knew the chief had a liking for Roman/Greek art, but I have to say this is just plain creepy. Hmm… what’s this? A diary.” Angel says to himself entering the room.

He skims through the diary that belonged to the chief’s secretary. It mostly says that the chief was a great man to work with, but he became senile as the years went by. Also he became obsessed with art and began to bring art into the police station. In fact that was perhaps the reason behind the mystery of the 2nd floor being a mystery to the public. As Angel reads on, it becomes clear that the chief did not want to go public as he threatened the secretary to fire her if she said anything to anyone.

After reading the diary, Angel begins to have second thoughts about trying to become allies with the chief. Another question that came into his mind was how did the chief get the money to purchase all of the artwork? Nevertheless he couldn’t be bothered with that, so he puts the diary down and continues to investigate the room. Eventually, he sees something shining at the end of the room on top of a cherry wood cabinet.

When he arrives at the cabinet he finds the shining item was a keycard to the 1st floor hallway computer. However, as he tries to leave the room a flesher crashes down the glass ceiling. Not only does the broken glass give Angel a jump scare, the flesher lands on the floor and begins to attack with its tongue.

Angel is able to duck under the tongue, the tongue cuts through the cabinet. He shoots off a shotgun shell hitting the flesher, but it remains alive. The flesher gets right back up and jumps towards Angel ready to slice him in half. He gathers himself and times his shot at the flesher. He shoots the flesher in mid-air and the flesher screams in pain. After that it begins to bleed to his relief.

“That was a cheap scare. Who am I kidding? I’m just lucky to have this shotgun and my life. What other surprises await me here?” Angel says trying to brush off the scare he just experienced.

What he doesn’t realize is that the fleshers are also avid ambushers and are adept in hiding to look for their prey. So they make up their lack of sight with the element of surprise against unsuspecting prey.

As he heads back to the hallway the fleshers he had sneaked by are no longer there. He walks carefully as they could be on the high ceiling ready to ambush him, but as he arrives at the door to the waiting room nothing is around. Not taking any chances he enters the waiting room and heads for the hallway. He takes the emergency ladder down to the 1st floor hallway and finds the computer in the hallway. Not sure what it does he approaches the computer.

The computer indicates that a keycard is needed to open the locked doors. Angel inserts the keycard he obtained into the card reader and the computer reads it. After a minute the locks for the locked doors are released.

One door leads to library on the 2nd floor and the other leads to the training/officer break areas. There is another door on the 1st floor where the party was supposed to take place, but it’s locked from the other side. He decides that he will head upstairs, sticking to his plan of searching one floor at a time. Will Angel find the chief, Maria and Bill? What other survivors will he bump into?

  Chapter 5

Angel heads up the ladder and heads for the library. It’s another weird room for him as he’s heard of libraries in precincts, but not like this one. This library has books about the devil, religion, science experiments, and basically everything you wouldn’t associate with law enforcement. The books and the room itself are dusty like it hasn’t been used in ages.

He sees several movable bookcases with buttons, he presses on one of them and the case moves to the right. All of a sudden he sees a picture of a knight with the same four bookcases and sees a pattern.

“Hmm… could it be I have to arrange the book cases in a certain way?” He says to himself.

He fiddles around with the other bookcases until he matches the pattern. The plate that showed the pattern drops down and reveals an object. It turns out to be a king chess piece with a point under it, probably for a chess board.

However, what chess board uses an insert for a sharp point piece? So he puts the piece in his side pack for safekeeping. Then he sees a set of stairs heading to the attic, but finds no point of going up there. Instead he goes through the door to his straight.

Upon entering the resource room where people could read books, he spots a young woman wearing a baby blue shirt and blue jeans. However, once she senses his presence she runs away and runs into a hole within a boarded up door. Angel gives chase, but the hole she walks in far too small for an adult to fit inside. All of a sudden from the other door, he sees someone.

It’s Bill, his partner that he was separated from back outside of the police station. Bill asks Angel if he’s seen the girl running around.

“Angel! I’m glad you’re ok. Have you seen a little girl around here?”

“Yeah you just missed her, who is she?” Angel asks Bill hoping for any answers.

“I don’t know, but she’s not safe here. Look I’ll find her and you find a way out of here, ok?”

“Of course Bill, but before I forget here’s a radio. That way we can keep in touch if anything happens.” Angel says handing Bill a spare radio. Bill nods his head and the two go their separate ways.

Angel heads down a gray dull looking hallway with a door to the left. After killing some police officers turned zombies, he enters the room.

It’s the NYPD Special Forces room. He explores the room where he finds a pistol clip and some shotgun shells.

Searching through the ransacked room he finds a key to the interrogation room and the locker room. After that he finds nothing more, so he leaves. He goes back through the hallway into a room that has the feeling of a museum and sees several statues that he simply ignores. The floor is made up of green and white marble tiles and the wall has beautiful beige wallpaper. What bugs him is that why is there such a room in the 75th precinct.
