“I can’t pretend to be engaged to you and messing around behind your back. All of this bullshit is my fault. I just can’t play this game anymore.”
“You don’t love me?”
“Logic you know better than that. You know how much I love you. That’s why I can’t accept your ring. You deserve better than what I’m capable of offering.”
“Queen please don’t do this. Let’s try to work it out.”
“Logic I can’t pretend to play nice anymore. God knows I tried.”
“Is this about that white boy out there? Are you sleeping with him?”
“His name is X and no we’re not intimate.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means we haven’t had sex, of any kind, but we have gone out a few times.”
“So who’s it about then? Teddy? You’re leaving me for Teddy?”
“No, come on Logic. Look it’s about me, not you, not Bear not X and certainly not Sam. It’s simply about me. I’m too young and stupid to be engaged. Ask me again when I’m more mature. Ask me again when I’m willing to sacrifice and make a true commitment.”
“So, I guess we’re breaking up again? F-U-C-K!”
“Look, we just need some time and distance until we’re healed enough that we can redefine the parameters of our relationship.”
“What the fuck does that even mean Queen?”
“I don’t really even know myself. I guess it means that if we were married we’d be filing for separation. Since we’re not I think what it means is that it is officially time that we start seeing other people.”
“Queen I don’t want to see anyone else.”
“Logic I know that you don’t. And honestly I take all the blame for Sam and her monkey shine. But unfortunately I’m not ready to be pinned down. I’m just too untamed to be engaged, let alone married. I’m sorry.”
“So are you going to walk away from me again? Queen what the fuck?”
“Logic, I’m not going anywhere I just need some space.”
“So, I’m supposed to give you some space so that you can fuck around with Teddy and X? Is that how this works? Huh Queen?”
“Actually, I broke it off with Teddy as well. He wants to same thing as you. And if I can’t make a commitment to you I’m certainly not going to fool myself into thinking that I can do it for him.”
“So what about this fool X?”
“X is different. He doesn’t want anything from me. I felt like I was in the center of a game of tug of war between you two. X just wanted to be with me- no holds, no bars and no strings attached.”
“Yeah for now… We’ll see how long that shit’s going to last.” Logic murmured. “So how long a break are we talking?”
“I don’t know. When the wounds are healed we’ll know it.”
“I didn’t mean to hurt you Queen. You know that right?”
“I didn’t mean to hurt you either. Look Logic, this is my issue, not yours. Okay?” Queen said as she kissed Logic’s lips.
Hurt he didn’t respond to her affection. He couldn’t even stand to look at her, so he turned away. Queen knew that his emotions were swelling up inside and she couldn’t bear to see him cry. So she said her goodbyes.
“I got go. I’ll call you later.”
Logic did not respond. He could not respond. Words could not express the pain that he felt as she walked away without a whisper. He continued to stare out over the vast estate that Queen’s Palace rested on and pondered when he’d hold his Queen in his embrace again. He knew she wouldn’t call, but he also knew that she couldn’t stop loving him. He was embedded in her DNA and she was in his. They were created for each other and somehow that affirmation was enough to comfort him until his Queen inevitably returned.

Queen felt like the air had just been sucked out of her lungs as she walked away from Logic. Her legs trembled and she was convinced that she was going to faint. “What the fuck did I just do? I walked away from not one but two of the finest, black men on the planet. What the fuck is wrong with me?” Her mind screamed.
X who had been trying desperately to stay out of it, grabbed her purse and quickly headed towards her. Sensing that she was looking for a quick exit he wanted to make sure that she didn’t leave without him and Jade was right on his heels.
“Where are you parked?” She asked as he drew near.
“I’m around the back along the side.” He responded as he gently wiped the steady trail of tears that trickled down her face. “Don’t cry. It’s going to be okay. What do you want me to do?”
“Just get me out of here.”
“I’m going too!” Jade added defiantly.
“Jade, I appreciate what you’re trying to do, but…”
“Good then you know that I’m coming with you!”
“Jade, I’ll be okay. X is a complete gentleman and nothing’s going to happen to me that I don’t want to happen.”
“Queen, that’s what I’m worried about!”
“Jade you can’t come with me, because I’m going to be ghost for a minute. I promise I’ll be in touch. But right now I have to get the fuck out of here!”
“I understand that, but understand this, I’m coming with you! I don’t want to hear none of this yah – dah yah- dah bullshit that you are spouting. You are not leaving here without me.”
X saw the anguish on Queen’s face and knew that she was seconds from exploding into a weeping and wailing hot ass mess. “Let’s just go. I don’t mind if Jade comes. She’ll be good company for you.” He reasoned.
Jade gave Queen a “Now what!” smirk.
“Okay! Just get me out of here before I spin around, pass out and die. I fuckin can’t breathe!”
X immediately took charge. He grabbed Queen by the hand and headed for the nearest exit. Jade followed closely behind as they navigated through the crowd of people dancing, mixing and mingling. Moments later they were out of the mansion and Queen immediately begin hyper ventilating from an acute panic attack.
As they set her down on the curb Jade persuaded X to go get the car and leave the panic stricken Queen with her.
“X just go and get the car. I got her.”
“Jade I’m a doctor I should stay with her and you get the car.”
“I realize you are a doctor, but right now she just needs the voice of her girlfriend.”
X knew that it was pointless to debate Jade on this issue, so he ran to get his car leaving the two young women alone. The second he left Queen let it all out.
“Jade they’re gone! They’re both gone! I broke up with both of them! I can’t function without either one of them and my stupid ass just dismissed both of them. What the fuck was I thinking?”
“Queen you’re going to be okay but you got to calm down. Look neither one of those niggas is going anywhere. They’ll both be at home waiting for your call.”
“I thought I could do this but I can’t. It feels like somebody just snatched my heart out of my chest. Oh my God! What am I going to do? Jade I love them both and I’m leaving them for a white boy I hardly know. What the fuck is wrong with me?”
“You’re not leaving them for X. You’re leaving them for you. One of them has to go. You can’t continue loving them both. It’s tearing all three of you apart. You have to choose one or the other. This is just God’s way to force your hand. After you’ve had some time to get your shit together, you’ll figure out who you truly want to be with and guess what?” Jade asked as she wiped the endless flow of tears from Queen’s eyes.
“What?” Queen managed to murmur.
“He’ll be right there waiting for you with open arms. So stop crying. God’s got this. You’ll end up with who you’re suppose to have and by some miracle the other one will still respect you and love you as a good friend. You won’t lose either one of them. I can guarantee that. They’re both ape shit in love with you. They’ll wait as long as it takes. So stop crying.” Jade declared as she wrapped her arms around Queen’s shoulders and hugged her best friend tight. “Besides, don’t think for a minute that I’m going to let your silly ass just walk away from fifty million dollars. Oh hell to the no, no!” She added.
“I didn’t think for a second that you would.” Queen smiled as she hugged Jade tighter.
Jade’s words were comforting and she knew that they were true. Her destiny was in fact attached to one of them, unfortunately destiny had to take a backseat to reality. As she watched X pull up and get out of the car to get her she realized that whatever happened before this moment was all in the past and her future stood before her. And one glimpse at the tall, handsome, blonde man with expressive blue eyes and pearly white teeth that stood before her assured her that her future looked pretty promising.
Chapter 5
The night was still young yet Queen found herself curled up in X’s bed with Jade of all damn people. True to her word Jade was determined to keep X’s dick out of Queen’s mouth, well at least for the night.
“I can’t believe I let you badger me into bringing you here with me.”
“Oh stop whining. I could be home cuddling with Dorian, instead of being a living breathing chastity belt for your ass.”
“Then go home. I’m fine. I’m a grown ass woman who doesn’t need a chastity belt or a chaperon”
“Come home with me and I’ll go.”
“Jade, you know that I can’t go home. Logic’s there.”
“Actually, no he’s not. I talked to Dorian a few minutes ago. After we left they all got really drunk. They’re spending the night at Queen’s Palace with Teddy.”
“Great! You want to take a bet on the topic of tonight’s discussion?”
“Now, you know they’re talking about your scandalous ass. Why would I even consider taking a bet like that?”
“How did this all go so bad so quickly?”
“It really wasn’t that quick. This shit has been unraveling like a badly crocheted bikini for a long time. You just never noticed.” Jade joked.
“You’re probably right.” Queen Laughed.
A gentle knock could be heard over their giggles. “Yeah.” Jade called out.
“Is it safe to enter?”
“Sure, come in. After all it is your house.” Wearing a couple of X’s T-shirts they quickly made themselves presentable by crawling beneath the covers.
X entered the bedroom carrying a tray with two cups of hot tea. “Is everybody comfortable?” He asked as he put down the tray and served them their tea. “I thought I’d bring you some tea.”
“Thanks for the hospitality X. I hate that we put you out of your bed.” Queen apologized as she shoved Jade.
“It’s a King size bed there’s room for one more.” X joked.
“Don’t even fuckin think about it.” Jade warned as she took a sip of her tea.
“I’m just kidding, although I must admit my fantasy of having two beautiful, half naked women in my bed didn’t really go quite like this.” X grinned. “So how do you feel?” He asked Queen as he set on the bed next to her.
“Broke! Extremely broke!” She joked.
“Yeah, that was a lot of money you walked away from.” X laughed. “Besides that. Are you okay?”
“I’m a little scared, but I’m okay.”
“What are you frightened of?”
“Probably of you… making a skin suit out of both of us.” Jade joked.
“Jade could you get me some honey from the kitchen for my tea? And please take your time.”
Jade got the hint that Queen wanted a few minutes alone with X. Reluctantly she climbed out of the bed, put on her heels and scrolled to the kitchen wearing a T-shirt and designer stilettos.
“I know that’s your girl, but that’s sexy!”
“Oh yeah, does that turn you on?” Queen teased as she moved in for a kiss.
“Not as much as this does…” X mumbled as he sucked Queen’s lips in his mouth.
In all the months that Queen had secretly dated X he never once attempted to kiss her. His lips were soft and sweet and just what Queen needed to make her problems magically disappear. She looked deep in his eyes and saw what she was looking for- a place in his heart and in his bed for her.
“I know this may sound selfish, but I’m glad your house of cards finally tumbled down.”
“Why would you say that?”
“Because it left me as the last man standing. Queen I’m crazy about you. And if you let me I can put the pieces of your heart back in place.”
“X you’ve been around me long enough to know that I have some serious commitment issues. Do you really want to be my rebound guy?”
“Queen, I just want to be your guy, plain and simple. And if that’s the only position available then I’ll take it.”
“Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.” Queen teased as she sampled his lips before engaging him in a smoldering wet kiss.
“Well he won’t get it tonight. Not as long as I’m here.” Jade said as she returned with the honey.
“I’d better let you two get some sleep. Goodnight Mye Queen.” X reluctantly replied as he kissed Queen on the forehead. “Goodnight Jade.”
“What no kiss?” She teased.
Jade and Queen watched as X left the room. Jade tried but she could not reserve her comment. “I’ll give you this… that is one sexy ass white boy. Professor X is fine as hell regardless of his flavor. Is that your first white boy?”
“No, but I think he’s going to be my last.” Queen mumbled as she considered his confession of love. “And for the record, you’re taking your ass home tomorrow. Hater! I don’t care if I have to drag you there kicking and screaming.”
“Whatever! You’ll thank me one day.” Jade laughed.
“Maybe, but this is not that day!” Queen retorted as she punched her pillow and shoved it between her thighs for comfort.
Jade laughed even harder as she cut off the light. “Goodnight Mye Queen. Sleep tight, I promise I won’t let Professor X bite!”
“Go to hell!” Queen snapped.

It was early and neither Queen nor X were really ready for sleep. X had camped out in his study on the futon. Lying in the room right next to his Queen he couldn’t keep his mind off of her. His body yearned for hers but he really would be satisfied to just hold her in his arms and comfort her through the night. There was just one small thing keeping them apart, Jade.
Queen tossed and turned in bed staring at the ceiling trying to figure out how her life spiraled down to this point. She contemplated how she walked away from two extremely sexy men to sleep in the bed of a third with a girl. She imagined that X was in the next room wishing that she was in his arms, loving him. There was just one tiny little thing keeping them apart, Jade.
“Fuck this!” Queen thought as she got up and sat on the side of the. She waited for Jade to stop her, but Jade who was in a deep sound sleep, simply rolled over and continued to snore.
Moments later, Queen found herself outside of X’s door. She closed her eyes, drew three deep breaths to center her before she knocked. But before she could knock X was standing in the door. He had decided to go get his Queen at any cost.
Upon seeing her at his door X loss all composure as he grabbed her in his arms and sought her lips with his hungry mouth. Pulling her into the study with him and slamming the door he kissed her hard pressing her body to the wall as he pulled her shirt over her head. He moaned as Queen’s perfect breasts were released. He quickly sucked one into his wet mouth savoring its sweetness.

“Are you on birth control?”
“Yeah the patch…”
“Queen, I haven’t been with anyone in a very long time. Can’t we just…”
