All Mye Queen's Men, Chronicles of Love - Volume II, page 36
This became painfully obvious at the funeral when two unexpected quests showed up from Las Vegas to show their respects. Throughout the service Queen could feel two sets of piercing eyes burning a hole in her back at the funeral. Unable to isolate the source in the crowded church and too distraught to really care Queen ignored it. Unfortunately after the service she would no longer have that luxury.
Now Queen was well aware that Logic had a girlfriend in Las Vegas. That pretty much was a given since her relationship with Logic, although consistent, remained undefined for all these years. What she wasn’t aware of and never even considered was that Logic’s girl was bold enough, rude enough and crazy enough to show up uninvited to Logic’s father’s funeral.
Queen and Logic were leaving the church when Queen spotted the source of the four laser beams. In the back of the church the two fake ass Vegas beauties pointed and whispered as they got their first full on look at Queen. Their contempt for her was obvious, but Queen did not know why. After further examination of the anguish and hurt on the one woman’s face Queen knew the whole story. This woman was obviously Logic’s girl.
Girlfriend or not, Logic never noticed either one of them. The funeral had taken its toll on him and he was oblivious to everything and everyone around him except Queen. Naturally this just fueled their fire and it soon became painfully obvious that their little game of stare down was about to turn into a show down.
After the repast service Queen and Logic were talking with members of the Nevada Kings who had flown out to Baltimore to support Logic in his time of bereavement. Queen noticed that Logic became oddly alarmed as one of his teammates whispered something in his ear. Logic quickly looked around and spotted the two young women who had been eyeballing Queen all damn day.
“Queen, I’ll be back in a second.” Logic excused himself before heading over to speak to them.
Queen simply nodded okay. She watched across the congested lawn outside of the restaurant as Logic greeted the two women with reservation. After a big hug from both, Queen noticed one pull him off to the side for a private conversation.
Now under normal circumstances Queen was not fazed in the least by bitches from the Hater Nation hating on her. In fact she was quite use to it by now. Unfortunately this was not a normal situation and this was not just any old man. This was Logic and Queen was curious to say the least to see who was trying to take her place in his heart. Still out of respect for Logic she kept her distance and simply tried to ignore them.
Even still it quickly became apparent that they were having a heated debate and she was obviously the source of the problem. Noticing that Ms. Vegas was becoming a little too loud and ignorant for a funeral Queen decided to diffuse the situation by giving Logic some friendly advice by phone.
Queen pulls out her cell and calls Logic. He answers on the first ring.
“Yeah, what’s up? Are you ready to go?”
“I’m ready when you are. Is everything okay?” She asked.
“Um yeah, everything's fine. I’ll be ready to leave in a second.”
“The reason I asked is because you two are making a scene. Why don’t you take her for a walk and calm her down, before she upsets your mom?”
“That’s not necessary. I’m done talking. I’ll be over in a second.” Logic hangs up the phone, says something to the angry young woman and simply turns and walks away.
Queen shakes her head in disbelief as Logic heads towards her with the angry little Pit Bull nipping at his heels. “Ah shit… Logic, please don’t lead her silly ass over here.” Queen moaned.
Expecting an even bigger scene Queen moves to a more secluded location in a cove between two buildings. If there was going to be an altercation she wanted as few witnesses as possible. She placed her purse down, sighed and prepared for Drama Central.
“So you think that you can just say what the fuck you want and then walk the fuck away from me like I don’t exist, huh Logic? You know I’m just going to follow your ass. We need to settle this.” The Pit Bull could be heard screaming as they neared.
“Nakeisha, we don’t have a damn thing left to talk about, so go on back to Vegas. We’ll deal with this when I get back.”
“We didn’t talk about shit! What are you talking about? And I’m not going back to Vegas until you go back. You must be crazy if you think I’m leaving you here with that bitch.” Nakeisha snorted.
“Then you may never go back, because I’m not leaving no damn time soon. I told you that my mom needs me and I’m going to stay here with her until she makes up her mind to come home with me. So, go home Nakeisha.” Logic casually responded as they approached the cool, calm and pissed Queen.
Nakeisha’s eyes meet Queen's and fumes could be seen rising from her head, she was so mad. “Introduce me to your fiancé Logic! Never mind I’ll do it…” She said as she attempts to run past Logic to approach Queen.
Logic quickly pulls her back. “Hey, slow your roll. You fuckin don't want to run up on Queen like that. Not unless you want to get knocked the fuck out!”
“Fuck that bitch! I wish she would swing on me.” She snarled as she eyed Queen looking for a reaction.
Queen maintained her composure as Logic joined her at her side. “Is everything okay?” She asked him.
Before Logic could even begin to answer Nakeisha snapped. “No bitch everything ain’t okay. What are you stupid or something? Can’t you see what the fuck is going on?”
“I’m sorry about this shit Queen. This is my friend Nakeisha, from Vegas. I asked her not to come but…”
Queen quickly interrupted Logic. “Baby you don’t owe anybody an explanation, not me and certainly not her. I’ll handle this.”
“You’ll handle what? Bitch don’t fuck around out here and get handled! And I'm not his fuckin friend. I'm his girlfriend. ” Nakeisha continued to mouth off, although she stayed at a safe enough distance to avoid getting her mouth knocked off.
Queen’s eerie serene disposition alarmed Logic as he watched Nakeisha’s friend Brianca rush around the corner for backup.
“What? What you going to do bitch? Except get your ass beat, with your trick ass, gold digging self!” Brianca screamed as she ran up and took her position at Nakeisha's side.
“Ah shit… Here we go.” Logic murmured as he stepped in front of Queen. “Nakeisha, why are you bringing all this fuckin drama to my dad’s funeral? I told you when we got started that I was engaged. Why the fuck are you acting like this is new news? You’ve known about Queen for three years now. You and Brianca need to pack all this nonsense and silly bullshit up and take it back to Vegas with you cause I ain’t fuckin with you like that anymore. I've tried to be nice about it, but fuck that and fuck you!”
“You’s a silly ass bitch!” Brianca observed as she confronted Queen. “My girl been fuckin your man in your fuckin house and spending your fuckin money for years and you ain’t said or did a fuckin thing about it.”
“Maybe her ass is just too fuckin stupid to have a clue what the fuck is up. I bet you thought you could hide my ass for ever didn’t you Logic!” Nakeisha chimed in.
At this point Queen had heard and seen enough. “Look ladies, and I’m using the term very liberally in your case… This is not the time or the place for all of this unnecessary drama and silly assness. Nakeisha, you’re in love with Logic. I get that. He hurt you by coming here without you. I get that too. Brianca, you’re just here to back your girl. I can appreciate that also. But this is Logic’s dad’s funeral service. Please just respect Logic and his family enough to leave or stay quietly without any more loud ass, unnecessary stupid shit. Because at the end of the day, Logic is going to go home with me and nothing you two Vegas hookers say or do is going to change that fact. So you can walk out of here quietly with your remaining thread of dignity in tack or you can leave with my stiletto up the crack of your ass. It really doesn’t matter to me.” Queen casually declared as she stood beside Logic.
“I hate you! Do you know that Logic! You weak ass fuckin nigga!” Nakeisha screamed. “All I ever did was love you and you treat me like this for a bitch who only fucks you four times a year. Fuck you!” Nakeisha lashed out at Logic as she swung her fist at his face.
As quick as lightning Queen planted her foot in Nakeisha’s chest and kicked her as hard as she could seconds before her fist connected with Logic’s nose. “Don’t fuckin hit him! What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Momentarily stunned Brianca looked at Nakeisha on the ground, screamed and charged at Queen. Queen met her mid flight with a hard straight right hand punch to her face which almost completely knocked her ass out. By now the angry Nakeisha had sprung to her feet and had the audacity to throw a sucker punch to Queen’s jaw. Queen instinctively blocked it and countered with a one, two, head and gut combo that knocked Nakeisha to her knees.
Storming in for the kill Queen prepared to finish her, but Logic held her back. “That’s enough Queen. Leave her alone, she’s done.”
“Oh yeah? Maybe so, but I’m not!” Queen wrestles her way free from Logic and quickly snatches the lace front wig off Nakeisha’s head.
Nakeisha screamed in pain and humiliation as the clued on wig was ripped from her scalp. “Damn it! What did you do that for! Give me back my damn hair!”
“Fuck you!” Queen snorted.
By this time Queen had made her way over to Brianca and ripped her wig off as well. Unlike Nakeisha, the semi conscious Brianca felt absolutely no pain or shame as she was still semi comatose in La La Land.
“You two talk a whole lot of shit for bald headed bitches who can’t fight. Now both of you get your ass up and get the fuck out of here, before I take off my heels and give you an East Baltimore ass whipping!” Queen snapped as she placed the two wigs in her designer purse. “You’ll get your damn hair when you’re in a cab on your way back to the airport. Now have a nice day ladies and get the fuck out of Baltimore!”
Logic was a little concerned for Nakeisha and Brianca, yet he had to snicker when he saw their hair hanging out of Queen’s purse. Sensing that he needed some help with his Vegas funeral crashers he called Dorian to bring some guys to help him get them in a car.
~*~*~
Naturally, with Dorian came Jade. Jade, who was good and pregnant, was not happy to leave her comfortable cushy chair in the restaurant to come outside to deal with this bullshit. She watched curbside with Queen as the men helped the two bald eagles into a limo bound for the airport.
“You ought to be ashamed of your damn self.”
“For what?” Queen calmly responded as she eyed Nakeisha as Logic comforted her as he closed the car door.
“For what? For starters give them bald head bitches back their hair!”
Queen nonchalantly removes the hair, which was still hanging out of her purse like a ponytail, and gave it to Jade. “Here give this to Logic to give to them. Because if either one of those hoes mouths off even one word to me they’re going back to Vegas without teeth.”
“So, which one is Logic’s girl?” Jade asked although she knew the answer. She just wanted to rub Queen’s nose in it.
“Neither.” Queen rolled her eyes at Jade and responded as she watched Logic affectionately kiss Nakeisha on her forehead.
“Mye Queen don’t even start that bullshit.”
“What bullshit, Jade?”
“Logic’s that girl’s man not yours. You’re fighting the girl over a man that doesn’t even belong to you like you’re in high school and shit.”
“That bitch tried to punch him in his face. They attacked me. I wasn’t going to let that shit fly. She came here to start some shit with me. It wasn’t the other way around. So, I don’t know what bullshit you’re talking about. Fuck her!”
“Okay so answer one question for me, Queen. Where the fuck is your engagement ring?” Jade snarled as she held the wigs out without a word for Logic who came to retrieve them.
“Thanks Jade.” Logic could tell that Queen was pissed. He just prayed that she wasn’t pissed at him. “I’ll be right back Mye Queen. Okay?”
“I’ll be right here.” Queen smiled and casually responded as she deviously waved bye-bye to her Vegas visitors. Logic merely ignored it and returned the wigs to the ladies.
But Jade wasn’t going to let it fly. “You really need to take a good look at what you are doing. Queen you have absolutely no cause to be jealous over Logic. For God’s sake Queen, you’re engaged to be married to Chris. Does Logic even know that?”
Queen reserves comment.
“Stop playing with that man’s heart and let him find love.”
“He doesn’t love her!” Queen snapped.
“Queen how do you know that?”
“Because he’s still in love with me.”
“Queen, that may well be true, but are you still in love with him?”
Queen’s silence told Jade everything she needed to know.
“Queen, no… why do you keep doing this shit to yourself? Don’t you want to ever be happy?” Jade groaned.
Queen didn’t answer that question. Hell, she couldn’t answer. By this time Logic was quickly approaching and for all practical purposes the conversation was officially over.
“Okay Jade, we’re going to head home. I’ll call you tomorrow.” Queen sighed as she hugged Jade tight. “We’ll talk.”
Jade knew in her heart how Queen felt about Logic. Queen always was and always would be chocolate covered bananas over that fine, sexy black man. And Jade knew in her heart’s heart that that would never change. So Jade knew exactly what Queen was struggling against. Still she was afraid for her friend. She intuitively knew that the consequences for Queen’s actions this time were going to be swift and extremely painful.
CHAPTER 48
Queen was silent as Logic drove them back to her home. Logic kept waiting for her to say something, anything about the events of the day, but Queen reserved comment. Unable to stand it any longer he decided to launch a preempted strike.
“Mye Queen I’m sorry about Nakeisha and Brianca. I didn’t know that they were coming, or I would have warned you. Is your hand okay? You hit Brianca pretty hard. You might want to get that checked.”
Queen looked at her hand, naturally it was fine. “My hand’s fine, I know how to throw a punch without getting injured. Your girls face on the other hand is going to swell up like a pumpkin by tomorrow morning so save your concern for her.”
“Queen don’t be upset with me. I had no idea any of this shit was going to happen.” Logic pleaded. “I never wanted the two of you to meet.”
“Logic I’m not mad at you.”
“Then who are you mad at, because right now you look as mad as hell?”
Queen sighed, “I guess I’m mad at myself. I should have never…” Queen stopped mid sentence and stared blankly out the car window. She couldn’t even bare to hear the words come from her own mouth.
“Go ahead and finish. You should have never done what?”
“I should have never fought that girl over her man,” Queen conceded.
“I’m not Nakeisha’s man. Nakeisha and I are just friends and I’ve never gave her any reason to think that we were anything else.”
“Yeah, other than dating her exclusively for three years.” Queen sarcastically mumbled.
“Who said that we were exclusive? Queen I've dated other women since we separated. Nakeisha’s not my only friend.”
In an effort to comfort her Logic mistakenly said the last thing in the world that Queen wanted to hear. She knew Logic had been with other women over the past years, but it didn’t really matter because she was too strung out on Teddy to demand fidelity. Now, that Teddy was no longer in the picture all the lines suddenly became blurred.
Queen could no longer place her feelings for Logic in the neat little box she kept them in for all these years. She wanted more from him and more of him, but she was in no position to ask. Queen quickly came to the realization that she was engaged to be married to Christian and Logic was a free agent. Free to date as many beautiful or ugly women for that matter as his heart desired.
This hurt and it hurt badly, much like the blow that she delivered to Nakeisha’s gut. This was Queen’s gut check and she didn’t take it too well. The blow instantly rendered her dazed, bewildered and speechless. She was silent the remainder of the short distance to her house.
Logic knew he had somehow struck a soft spot and he knew exactly why. He knew exactly how Queen felt about him. He knew that she was still in love with him, but a series of unfortunate circumstances and fate had kept them apart for far too long.
It was clear to Logic that Queen finally realized what she forfeited when she walked away that infamous night at Queen’s Palace. It was even clearer to him what role she wanted to really play in his life. Even more crystal clear was the role that he wanted her to play. Logic was still coo- coo for Coco Puffs in love with his Queen in spite of everything that they had been through.
Unbeknown to Queen Logic knew all about her engagement to Christian. Everyone knows that Dorian has absolutely no filter over his mouth. So of course he filled Logic in on all the crazy ass shenanigans that ensued at the wedding. Not to mention Teddy cried on his shoulders over their breakup as he blew through Vegas hookers for weeks afterward.
Still Logic wanted to hear it from Queen’s mouth and he didn’t want to have to pry it out of her. From the moment he saw that Queen had removed her expensive engagement ring he knew that she didn’t know how to tell him. Logic realized that it was time that they finally had that talk, the talk that they both had been carefully avoiding since he arrived in Baltimore.
~*~*~
Logic looked like a tall steaming hot cup of double chocolate, caramel, mocha latte in his custom, tailor made, black Italian suit. He quickly loosened his tie, removed his jacket and reclined on the large tufted chaise in the grand foyer of Queen’s baby mansion.
“Come sit with me Mye Queen.” He beckoned.
Queen removed her heels and climbed in his lap and snuggled. Logic gingerly kissed her forehead and rubbed the small of her back to comfort her. Queen closed her eyes and enjoyed his comforting touch as she prepared for what was to come.
