“Hey, can I just talk to her for a second. I need to tell her something.”

“Sure, hold on. I’ll get her.” La Shawn offers the phone back to Queen. “Dr. Queen your husband wants to speak to you.”

The distraught Queen takes the phone. “Baby I’m so sorry are you okay?”

“Yeah, as well as can be expected. Look I didn’t think. I should have waited for your parents to tell you. I just wanted to make sure that you were the first person I saw when I got off that plane. I didn’t mean to lay all of this on you at work.”

  “It’s okay. Logic what happened?”

“He had a heart attack at his store. They took him to University Hospital. He passed there. Look I can’t go into it right now without getting emotional again. I’m going to send a car for you. Meet me at the airport.”

“Sure.” Queen’s phone clicked to indicate that she had another call. The caller ID indicated that it was her dad. “Logic my dad’s clicking in, hold on.”

“Look, go ahead and talk to your dad. I’ll see you when I get there.”

“No, hold on. He’s probably calling to break the news. Don’t hang up, okay?”

“Queen I’d better go. I’ll see you when I land. Try not to get too upset about this. Okay?”

“It’s not going to be easy but I’ll try.”

  “I love you Mye Queen.”

“I love you too my King.”

Naturally the heifers in that place went absolutely crazy when they heard that Queen had a husband. And not only was she married, but she was married to Logic Hart of the Nevada Kings. This was show stopping, late breaking news of catastrophic proportion and every tongue in the hospital immediately started wagging.

You see, every koochie, young and old, in that hospital clapped every time Dr. Christian Love walked by and they all knew that Queen was his reigning queen. Queen’s engagement ring was as big as a nickel, as bright as the morning sun and commanded the envy of every woman who laid eyes on it. Everyone knew that she was engaged to marry Christian. Luckily Christian was not around to hear all of the insane gossip and speculation that was spreading across the hospital faster than the Swine Flu plague.

But none of that mattered. Queen really didn’t give a damn at this point. She didn’t care what they thought or what they said. She was devastated. Mr. Hart, for all practical purposes, was her father in-law and Logic was going to need her companionship and support. So, Queen immediately took a two week leave of absence to mourn his death and to be there for Logic.

  ~*~*~

Queen waited all but patiently at the Baltimore Washington International Airport arrivals terminal for Logic’s plane to disembark. An emotional ball of nerves she paced the floor in anticipation. Logic appeared and it seemed as though all of the air was instantly sucked out of her lungs. Queen couldn’t breathe.

Vowing to be strong and a shoulder for Logic to lean on Queen quickly lost her composure. Tears flowed from everywhere as she ran to him and jumped in his arms. Logic dropped his bags and caught her mid leap. He held her so tight she thought he was going to break her in half. Their eyes met and he kissed her full in the mouth. Queen reciprocated without thought or reservation.

As Queen gazed deep into Logic’s eyes she could feel the pain that resonated from the core of his spirit. Logic was deeply hurt and struggling to keep it together. Taught to always be a man he choked back his tears and fears and comforted his Queen.

“Hey, it’s okay. We’re going to get through this. Stop crying. You’re going to make me cry.” He whispered in her ear as he rubbed her back. “He’s in a better place. It’s okay.”

Sensing what he was trying to do Queen instantly wiped her face and then wiped his. She kissed his lips gently and said, “I know. Let’s get you to your mom. She needs you more than I do.”

The mere mention of his mom quickly strangled Logic with emotions. Unable to speak he simply nodded and sighed, “Okay.”

Queen’s parents were camped out with Logic’s mom at her home. The Harts had been Queen’s parents’ closes friends since they met. Queen knew that this was a difficult time for them as well, but they had each other to lean on. Her focus and only assignment was to be there to console Logic.

Towards that end Queen felt it prudent to remove her blazing symbol of Christian’s love, her shiny new engagement ring. This was absolutely not the time to open that can of slimy worms. Brilliant and stunning enough to command attention from space, Queen’s North Star diamond was replaced with a simple birthstone ring that Logic gave her when they were in college.

Logic instantly recognized the ring and laughed when he saw it. “Wow, I haven’t seen that piece of shit in years. What do you have that on for?”

Queen, embarrassed and caught completely off guard without an explanation, simply flashed him the finger and continued to stare blankly out of the Limo window.

Logic knew for a fact that over the years Teddy had given Queen a small jewelry store full of fine jewelry, which included at least a dozen or so beautiful diamond rings. He realized she was only wearing it so that she wouldn’t offend him with her latest and greatest token of love. Gently taking her hand and closely examining the ring he immediately understood why she had elected to wear that particular ring. It was a promise ring that he had given her when they started their freshman year at the University of Maryland.

Kissing her ring he said, “I didn’t realize you still had this. It looks good on your finger. I was just kidding. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. In fact, I'm glad you have it on.”

Queen simply offered a wry smile to indicate that it was okay.

“Look... Queen I need to ask you a big favor.” Logic’s sultry voice suddenly becomes serious.

  “Sure, anything.”

Logic reaches in his pocket and pulls out a small ring box. A ring box very similar to the one he presented to her when he proposed to her at his parents’ dinner party.

“Will you wear this for me?”

Queen’s head begins to shake, no, as she stared at her original engagement ring with a sea of mixed emotions. “Logic, I can’t do this right now. We need to talk…”

“No, it’s not what you think. I’m not proposing… again… It’s just that I never told my parents that we called off the engagement. It’ll break my mom’s heart if she finds out now.”

“Logic… are you serious? Oh my God, it’s been years. Oh come on.” She complained.

“Yeah, I know. But they knew that we were still seeing each other. How was I supposed to explain that bullshit to them? Huh Queen?”

Queen sighed as she reluctantly took the ring box. “You owe me big time for this.”

Logic smiled and nodded in agreement. “I’m sure I’ll find a few ways to repay you Mye Queen.”

“Don’t even think about it.” Queen warned as Logic lovingly sampled her lips. “And for the record, you’re not getting this back.”

“I never asked for it back in the first place.” Logic mumbled beneath his breath.

Queen playfully shoved him. “I heard that.”

Logic laughed and hugged her tighter. “I’m glad you did. I meant for you to hear it.” He teased.

Queen pondered the ramifications of her decision to withhold the truth about her engagement to Christian. In retrospect she should have told him months ago when she got engaged. And naturally, her off the cuff decision to leave her real engagement ring at home was just adding fuel to the raging fire. She realized there would be consequences for her actions. Nonetheless, she wasn’t ready or willing to have that conversation with Logic, especially now.

Finding comfort in each other’s embrace they rode in silence as the Limo headed to Logic’s parents’ home in the suburbs of Baltimore.

  CHAPTER 46

Naturally, Logic lost it the second he laid eyes on his mom. From there he quickly started to drift into depression and withdrawal as the reality that his dad was dead quickly sank in. Grateful that his Queen was on his side Logic clung to her and the two became inseparable.

Queen’s quick change of rings did not slip pass her mother for one second. It was one thing to be there to support Logic but it was a whole other thing to switch fiancés overnight. Queen knew that it was just a matter of time before her mom cold snatched her ass up.

“Queen, help me get the kitchen together.”

Queen recognized an ambush when she saw one, but what could she do except get it over with?

“Sure I’ll be right in.” Queen replied reluctant to leave Logic.

  “Now Queen.” Her mom insisted.

Queen followed her mom into the kitchen and prepared to get a lecture or an ass whipping. She wasn’t quite sure which one but she was well aware that she probably deserved both.

“What do you need me to do?”

“What I need you to do is to tell me why you are wearing Logic’s ring? Queen what the hell is going on?”

  “Look Ma I can explain.”

“Oh really? Can you explain to Christian why you took off his ring and put on Logic’s? Girl what the hell are you doing?”

“Logic never told his parents that we called off the engagement. He asked me to wear it so that his mom didn’t get suspicious.”

“What? Queen are you serious? Gloria knows that you two are on again and off again. Why would you agree to do that?”

“Because he asked me to Ma. What can I say? He’s hurting. He asked me to do this one little thing, so I said yes. Christian will never know.”

“Queen this doesn’t make any sense. Why would he even consider asking you to take off that man’s ring?”

Queen hesitates, “Logic doesn’t exactly know about Christian.”

“Okay… You know what?” Queen’s mom hesitates and searches for the right words. “Look Queen, you know that both of those men are crazy, in love with you. Hell, and don't get me started on Teddy and the shit you pulled on him when Jade got married. How many times do I have to tell you, that you can’t keep playing with peoples’ emotions? Logic’s going to be so disappointed in you. And how do you think Chris would feel if he knew that you took off his ring and agreed to this little game of charades?”

“Ma I’m not playing with anybodies emotions. I just haven’t been able to find a way to tell Logic. I’ll tell him, but this is just not the time.”

“Alright, but mark my words this bullshit is going to come back and bite you in that big ass of yours and when it does, don’t even think about bringing that shit to me.”

Queen hugged her mom and laid her head on her shoulder. “Don’t worry, it’s my mess. I promise I’ll clean it up.”

Queen knew that the situation had the potential of getting a little shitty, but she thought that she had everything under control, boy was she wrong.

  ~*~*~

Queen’s parents convinced Logic’s mom to pack a bag and spend the night at their home. Mrs. Hart was exhausted and overwhelmed with grief. She welcomed the opportunity to escape the memories that haunted her in that house.

Now, the question was where was Logic spending the night? Although Queen knew the answer she thought luck might intervene on her behalf just once.

“Are you spending the night here?” Queen cautiously asked as Logic put his mom’s bags in the trunk of her dad’s car.

“Oh you’re funny as hell?” He chuckled.

“No, I’m serious. Where are you spending the night?”

“Where do you want to spend the night?” He asked as he pulled her in his arms and sampled her lips.

With mixed emotions Queen allowed it. “I’m going home. The question is where are you going?”

“I’m going where ever this goes.” Logic smiled as his hand slipped from the small of Queen’s back to caress her round ass.

Hearing their parents coming Queen nonchalantly broke their embrace. Unfortunately not before Queen’s mom spotted them. Naturally she shot Queen an evil look that said, “I wish you would.”

If only Queen had just had the good sense to heed that simple warning. Unfortunately minutes later she found herself at her mansion alone with Logic. Horny, emotionally devastated and confused she watched one of the sexiest men on the planet undress in her master bedroom.

“I’m worn the fuck out. I’m getting in the shower.” Logic announced as he stripped down.

Mesmerized and held spellbound by the splendor of his magnificent nude body Queen was speechless. “Damn he looks scrumptiously delicious and I’m fucking starving to death.” She thought. “Get a grip Queen you’re engaged and this kielbasa is no longer on the menu.”

Queen's pussy purred as it started to betray her. Her panties instantly became wet as she pondered her options. Realizing that she had only one she tried to walk away, but her legs wouldn’t move.

Noticing that Queen had suddenly become star struck by the sight of his body Logic laughed. “What’s wrong with you? You act like you’ve never seen me naked before.”

The truth was that Queen had never seen Logic naked and not been able to sample his sweet nectar. Torn between what her body screamed to do and what her heart begged her not to do Queen was perplexed and paralyzed.

  “Queen are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine, I just loss my train of thought for a second. It’s been a long day. Okay, so get in the shower and make yourself at home. I have to check my voicemail and return a couple of emails. I’ll be in my study.”

“Alright, well come to bed as soon as you’re done. I’m going to try to get some sleep.” Logic responded a little confused.

  “Sure.”

Now Queen stayed in her study until early morning praying that Logic would eventually fall asleep. Thinking that he was finally asleep she slipped into the shower and then into bed next to him. Unfortunately sleep never came to Logic that night. He lay in bed restless waiting for his Queen. The moment she entered the bed he rolled over and held her tight in his arms.

As they lay in the dark room spooning Queen could hear Logic softly sobbing. Hurt as well and unable to comfort him she silently wept with him. Unexpectedly, Logic’s hand slipped between her thighs and located the wet spot that had craved his touch every since they were fifteen years old. His mouth sought and found hers and Queen surrendered.

Just as she closed her eyes and gave in to the intoxicating, familiar caress of his precise, slow hand a flash of Christian’s charismatic smile flashed through Queen’s mind. She tried to block it out but the image of him would not go away. Unable or unwilling to stop Logic’s intimate advances Queen rolled on her back and gave in to her desires. Without hesitation she relinquished her body to the man who would always rule her heart.

Upon kissing her hard in the mouth the still distraught Logic continues to massage Queen’s love as he plants a trail of warm, wet kisses along her body that led southbound. His eyes momentarily meets Queen’s and begs for permission to proceed on his journey. The sobbing Queen nods a definitive hell yes as the smile on Christian face that haunted her quickly fades and his image disappears into obscurity.

Logic’s hungry mouth immediately locates Queen’s erotic zone and all regret and reservation quickly storms out the door as he devours her sweetness. Famished as hell and totally turned out for this incredible man Queen flips to the top and spins to find his goodness that strained to be released from his shorts. Starving and emotionally overwhelmed she stuffs it into her mouth savoring its flavor. Logic grabs her by the ass and returns to her deliciousness. In total ecstasy the two lovers enjoy their bountiful feast as they took a pleasure trip down Route 69.

All the hurt, all the pain, all the confusion and all the emotions of the day boiled up and quickly threatened to explode all over their faces. But neither of them gave a damn. It no longer mattered what or who stood between them at that very moment. They needed each other and equally they needed what was about to come.

As ravenous as two wild dogs stranded in the wilderness they continued to devour each other’s love uninhibited and unrestrained as a legendary orgasm swell in both of their loins. Screaming, hollering and quivering as it's greatness overcame them their bodies seized and convulsed from its magnitude. Logic came first but Queen followed a split second later as they shamelessly released all that threatened their happiness, their sanity and their love.

Suddenly it became crystal clear to Logic what all the forbidden moments Queen shared with Teddy after Paul’s murder were really all about. He finally realized that it didn’t matter whether she wanted it or even enjoyed it. Queen needed sex. She forged that unbreakable physical bond with Teddy to overcome her grief and to preserve her sanity. It now made perfect sense to him that it had absolutely nothing to do with her love for him, their relationship or their engagement. It was just sex. She tried to make that same connection with him but he was just too confused to understand. Sex was simply a pressure release mechanism that allowed Queen to handle unbearable pain and stress.

Realizing that her affection for Teddy or X for that matter, never once took from her love for him, Logic gathered her in his arms and whispered; “Now I understand.”

Knowing exactly what he was talking about the teary eyed Queen asked, “Can you ever forgive me?”

Logic simply nodded yes as he kissed the engagement ring on her trembling hand. “I forgave you a long time ago. It wasn’t your fault. I'm certain of that now. ”

Semi satisfied they briefly lay quietly in each other arms. Basking in the sweet afterglow of the preliminary round they prepared themselves for what was undoubtedly going to be a very long night.

  CHAPTER 47

The next few days blurred together as the family made funeral arrangements. Logic and Queen leaned on each other for support during this trying and difficult time. Understandably the line Queen had drawn in the sand had blurred as well.

She talked to Christian everyday and sexed Logic every single night. And though she felt as guilty as hell about it she couldn’t stop. She loved Logic and she realized that in spite of everything that they’d been through she was still in love with him. Still in the deepest crevice of her heart she realized that she may have destroyed her chance at happy ever after with this incredible man.
