[18] But the Lord was jealous of his land, and spared his people.
[19] καὶ ἀπεκρίθη κύριος καὶ εἶπεν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξαποστέλλω ὑμῖν τὸν σῖτον καὶ τὸν οἶνον καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον, καὶ ἐμπλησθήσεσθε αὐτῶν, καὶ οὐ δώσω ὑμᾶς οὐκέτι εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι·
[19] And the Lord answered and said to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied with them: and I will no longer make you a reproach among the Gentiles.
[20] καὶ τὸν ἀπὸ βορρᾶ ἐκδιώξω ἀφ’ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐξώσω αὐτὸν εἰς γῆν ἄνυδρον καὶ ἀφανιῶ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν τὴν πρώτην καὶ τὰ ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν τὴν ἐσχάτην, καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἡ σαπρία αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀναβήσεται ὁ βρόμος αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἐμεγάλυνεν τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ.
[20] And I will chase away from you the northern adversary, and will drive him away into a dry land, and I will sink his face in the former sea, and his back parts in the latter sea, and his ill savour shall come up, and his stink come up, because he has wrought great things.
[21] θάρσει, γῆ, χαῖρε καὶ εὐφραίνου, ὅτι ἐμεγάλυνεν κύριος τοῦ ποιῆσαι.
[21] Be of good courage, O land; rejoice and be glad: for the Lord has done great things.
[22] θαρσεῖτε, κτήνη τοῦ πεδίου, ὅτι βεβλάστηκεν πεδία τῆς ἐρήμου, ὅτι ξύλον ἤνεγκεν τὸν καρπὸν αὐτοῦ, ἄμπελος καὶ συκῆ ἔδωκαν τὴν ἰσχὺν αὐτῶν.
[22] Be of good courage, ye beasts of the plain, for the plains of the wilderness have budded, for the trees have borne their fruit, the fig tree and the vine have yielded their strength.
[23] καὶ τὰ τέκνα Σιων, χαίρετε καὶ εὐφραίνεσθε ἐπὶ τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ ὑμῶν, διότι ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν τὰ βρώματα εἰς δικαιοσύνην καὶ βρέξει ὑμῖν ὑετὸν πρόιμον καὶ ὄψιμον καθὼς ἔμπροσθεν,
[23] Rejoice then and be glad, ye children of Sion, in the Lord your God: for he has given you food fully, and he will rain on you the early and the latter rain, as before.
[24] καὶ πλησθήσονται αἱ ἅλωνες σίτου, καὶ ὑπερεκχυθήσονται αἱ ληνοὶ οἴνου καὶ ἐλαίου.
[24] And the floors shall be filled with corn, and the presses shall overflow with wine and oil.
[25] καὶ ἀνταποδώσω ὑμῖν ἀντὶ τῶν ἐτῶν, ὧν κατέφαγεν ἡ ἀκρὶς καὶ ὁ βροῦχος καὶ ἡ ἐρυσίβη καὶ ἡ κάμπη, ἡ δύναμίς μου ἡ μεγάλη, ἣν ἐξαπέστειλα εἰς ὑμᾶς·
[25] And I will recompense you for the years which the locust, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, and the cankerworm have eaten, even my great army, which I sent against you.
[26] καὶ φάγεσθε ἐσθίοντες καὶ ἐμπλησθήσεσθε καὶ αἰνέσετε τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν, ἃ ἐποίησεν μεθ’ ὑμῶν εἰς θαυμάσια, καὶ οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῇ ὁ λαός μου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα·
[26] And ye shall eat abundantly, and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the Lord your God for the things which he has wrought wonderfully with you: and my people shall not be ashamed for ever.
[27] καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐγώ εἰμι, καὶ ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἔτι πλὴν ἐμοῦ, καὶ οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῶσιν οὐκέτι πᾶς ὁ λαός μου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.
[27] And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and that there is none else beside me; and my people shall no more be ashamed for ever.
[28] Καὶ ἔσται μετὰ ταῦτα καὶ ἐκχεῶ ἀπὸ τοῦ πνεύματός μου ἐπὶ πᾶσαν σάρκα, καὶ προφητεύσουσιν οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες ὑμῶν, καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι ὑμῶν ἐνύπνια ἐνυπνιασθήσονται, καὶ οἱ νεανίσκοι ὑμῶν ὁράσεις ὄψονται·
[28] And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.
[29] καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς δούλους καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς δούλας ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἐκχεῶ ἀπὸ τοῦ πνεύματός μου.
[29] And on my servants and on my handmaids in those days will I pour out of my Spirit.
[30] καὶ δώσω τέρατα ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, αἷμα καὶ πῦρ καὶ ἀτμίδα καπνοῦ·
[30] And I will shew wonders in heaven, and upon the earth, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.
[31] ὁ ἥλιος μεταστραφήσεται εἰς σκότος καὶ ἡ σελήνη εἰς αἷμα πρὶν ἐλθεῖν ἡμέραν κυρίου τὴν μεγάλην καὶ ἐπιφανῆ.
[31] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord come.
[32] καὶ ἔσται πᾶς, ὃς ἂν ἐπικαλέσηται τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου, σωθήσεται· ὅτι ἐν τῷ ὄρει Σιων καὶ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ἔσται ἀνασῳζόμενος, καθότι εἶπεν κύριος, καὶ εὐαγγελιζόμενοι, οὓς κύριος προσκέκληται.
[32] And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved: for in mount Sion and in Jerusalem shall the saved one be as the Lord has said, and they that have glad tidings preached to them, whom the Lord has called.
CHAPTER 3
[1] Διότι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις καὶ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ὅταν ἐπιστρέψω τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν Ιουδα καὶ Ιερουσαλημ,
[1] For, behold, in those days and at that time, when I shall have turned the captivity of Juda and Jerusalem,
[2] καὶ συνάξω πάντα τὰ ἔθνη καὶ κατάξω αὐτὰ εἰς τὴν κοιλάδα Ιωσαφατ καὶ διακριθήσομαι πρὸς αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ ὑπὲρ τοῦ λαοῦ μου καὶ τῆς κληρονομίας μου Ισραηλ, οἳ διεσπάρησαν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν· καὶ τὴν γῆν μου καταδιείλαντο
[2] I will also gather all the Gentiles, and bring them down to the valley of Josaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and my heritage Israel, who have been dispersed among the Gentiles; and these Gentiles have divided my land,
[3] καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου ἔβαλον κλήρους καὶ ἔδωκαν τὰ παιδάρια πόρναις καὶ τὰ κοράσια ἐπώλουν ἀντὶ οἴνου καὶ ἔπινον.
[3] and cast lots over my people, and have given their boys to harlots, and sold their girls for wine, and have drunk.
[4] καὶ τί καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐμοί, Τύρος καὶ Σιδὼν καὶ πᾶσα Γαλιλαία ἀλλοφύλων; μὴ ἀνταπόδομα ὑμεῖς ἀνταποδίδοτέ μοι; ἢ μνησικακεῖτε ὑμεῖς ἐπ’ ἐμοὶ ὀξέως; καὶ ταχέως ἀνταποδώσω τὸ ἀνταπόδομα ὑμῶν εἰς κεφαλὰς ὑμῶν,
[4] And what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Sidon, and all Galilee of the Gentiles? do ye render me a recompense? or do ye bear malice against me? quickly and speedily will I return your recompense on your own heads:
[5] ἀνθ’ ὧν τὸ ἀργύριόν μου καὶ τὸ χρυσίον μου ἐλάβετε καὶ τὰ ἐπίλεκτά μου καὶ τὰ καλὰ εἰσηνέγκατε εἰς τοὺς ναοὺς ὑμῶν
[5] because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and ye have brought my choice ornaments into your temples;
[6] καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ιουδα καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ιερουσαλημ ἀπέδοσθε τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν Ἑλλήνων, ὅπως ἐξώσητε αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν.
[6] and ye have sold the children of Juda and the children of Jerusalem to the children of the Greeks, that ye might expel them from their coasts.
[7] ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξεγείρω αὐτοὺς ἐκ τοῦ τόπου, οὗ ἀπέδοσθε αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ, καὶ ἀνταποδώσω τὸ ἀνταπόδομα ὑμῶν εἰς κεφαλὰς ὑμῶν
[7] Therefore, behold, I will raise them up out of the place whither ye have sold them, and I will return your recompense on your own heads.
[8] καὶ ἀποδώσομαι τοὺς υἱοὺς ὑμῶν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν εἰς χεῖρας υἱῶν Ιουδα, καὶ ἀποδώσονται αὐτοὺς εἰς αἰχμαλωσίαν εἰς ἔθνος μακρὰν ἀπέχον, ὅτι κύριος ἐλάλησεν.
[8] And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the children of Juda, and they shall sell them into captivity to a far distant nation: for the Lord has spoken it.
[9] Κηρύξατε ταῦτα ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, ἁγιάσατε πόλεμον, ἐξεγείρατε τοὺς μαχητάς· προσαγάγετε καὶ ἀναβαίνετε, πάντες ἄνδρες πολεμισταί.
[9] Proclaim these things among the Gentiles; declare war, arouse the warriors, draw near and go up, all ye men of war.
[10] συγκόψατε τὰ ἄροτρα ὑμῶν εἰς ῥομφαίας καὶ τὰ δρέπανα ὑμῶν εἰς σειρομάστας· ὁ ἀδύνατος λεγέτω ὅτι Ἰσχύω ἐγώ.
[10] Beat your ploughshares into swords, and your sickles into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
[11] συναθροίζεσθε καὶ εἰσπορεύεσθε, πάντα τὰ ἔθνη κυκλόθεν, καὶ συνάχθητε ἐκεῖ· ὁ πραὺς ἔστω μαχητής.
[11] Gather yourselves together, and go in, all ye nations round about, and gather yourselves there; let the timid become a warrior.
[12] ἐξεγειρέσθωσαν καὶ ἀναβαινέτωσαν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη εἰς τὴν κοιλάδα Ιωσαφατ, διότι ἐκεῖ καθιῶ τοῦ διακρῖναι πάντα τὰ ἔθνη κυκλόθεν.
[12] Let them be aroused, let all the nations go up to the valley of Josaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the Gentiles round about.
[13] ἐξαποστείλατε δρέπανα, ὅτι παρέστηκεν τρύγητος· εἰσπορεύεσθε πατεῖτε, διότι πλήρης ἡ ληνός· ὑπερεκχεῖται τὰ ὑπολήνια, ὅτι πεπλήθυνται τὰ κακὰ αὐτῶν.
[13] Bring forth the sickles, for the vintage is come: go in, tread the grapes, for the press is full: cause the vats to overflow; for their wickedness is multiplied.
[14] ἦχοι ἐξήχησαν ἐν τῇ κοιλάδι τῆς δίκης, ὅτι ἐγγὺς ἡμέρα κυρίου ἐν τῇ κοιλάδι τῆς δίκης.
[14] Noises have resounded in the valley of judgment: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of judgment.
[15] ὁ ἥλιος καὶ ἡ σελήνη συσκοτάσουσιν, καὶ οἱ ἀστέρες δύσουσιν φέγγος αὐτῶν.
[15] The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light.
[16] ὁ δὲ κύριος ἐκ Σιων ἀνακεκράξεται καὶ ἐξ Ιερουσαλημ δώσει φωνὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ σεισθήσεται ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ· ὁ δὲ κύριος φείσεται τοῦ λαοῦ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐνισχύσει κύριος τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ.
[16] And the Lord shall cry out of Sion, and shall utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heaven and the earth shall be shaken, but the Lord shall spare his people, and shall strengthen the children of Israel.
[17] καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ὁ κατασκηνῶν ἐν Σιων ἐν ὄρει ἁγίῳ μου· καὶ ἔσται Ιερουσαλημ πόλις ἁγία, καὶ ἀλλογενεῖς οὐ διελεύσονται δι’ αὐτῆς οὐκέτι.
[17] And ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, who dwell in Sion my holy mountain: and Jerusalem shall be holy, and strangers shall not pass through her anymore.
[18] καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἀποσταλάξει τὰ ὄρη γλυκασμόν, καὶ οἱ βουνοὶ ῥυήσονται γάλα, καὶ πᾶσαι αἱ ἀφέσεις Ιουδα ῥυήσονται ὕδατα, καὶ πηγὴ ἐξ οἴκου κυρίου ἐξελεύσεται καὶ ποτιεῖ τὸν χειμάρρουν τῶν σχοίνων.
[18] And it shall come to pass in that day that the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the fountains of Juda shall flow with water, and a fountain shall go forth of the house of the Lord, and water the valley of flags.
[19] Αἴγυπτος εἰς ἀφανισμὸν ἔσται, καὶ ἡ Ιδουμαία εἰς πεδίον ἀφανισμοῦ ἔσται ἐξ ἀδικιῶν υἱῶν Ιουδα, ἀνθ’ ὧν ἐξέχεαν αἷμα δίκαιον ἐν τῇ γῇ αὐτῶν.
[19] Egypt shall be a desolation, and Idumea shall be a desolate plain, because of the wrongs of the children of Juda, because they have shed righteous blood in their land.
[20] ἡ δὲ Ιουδαία εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα κατοικηθήσεται καὶ Ιερουσαλημ εἰς γενεὰς γενεῶν.
[20] But Judea shall be inhabited for ever, and Jerusalem to all generations.
[21] καὶ ἐκδικήσω τὸ αἷμα αὐτῶν καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀθῳώσω. καὶ κύριος κατασκηνώσει ἐν Σιων.
[21] And I will make inquisition for their blood, and will by no means leave it unavenged: and the Lord shall dwell in Sion.

CHAPTER 1
[1] Λόγοι Αμως, οἳ ἐγένοντο ἐν νακκαριμ ἐκ Θεκουε, οὓς εἶδεν ὑπὲρ Ιερουσαλημ ἐν ἡμέραις Οζιου βασιλέως Ιουδα καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Ιεροβοαμ τοῦ Ιωας βασιλέως Ισραηλ πρὸ δύο ἐτῶν τοῦ σεισμοῦ.
[1] The words of Amos which came to him in Accarim out of Thecue, which he saw concerning Jerusalem, in the days of Ozias king of Juda, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joas king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
[2] Καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος ἐκ Σιων ἐφθέγξατο καὶ ἐξ Ιερουσαλημ ἔδωκεν φωνὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπένθησαν αἱ νομαὶ τῶν ποιμένων, καὶ ἐξηράνθη ἡ κορυφὴ τοῦ Καρμήλου.
[2] And he said, The Lord has spoken out of Sion, and has uttered his voice out of Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds have mourned, and the top of Carmel is dried up.
[3] Καὶ εἶπεν κύριος Ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις Δαμασκοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτόν, ἀνθ’ ὧν ἔπριζον πρίοσιν σιδηροῖς τὰς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσας τῶν ἐν Γαλααδ·
[3] And the Lord said, For three sins of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away from it; because they sawed with iron saws the women with child of the Galaadites.
[4] καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ εἰς τὸν οἶκον Αζαηλ, καὶ καταφάγεται θεμέλια υἱοῦ Αδερ·
[4] And I will send a fire on the house of Azael, and it shall devour the foundations of the son of Ader.
[5] καὶ συντρίψω μοχλοὺς Δαμασκοῦ καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσω κατοικοῦντας ἐκ πεδίου Ων καὶ κατακόψω φυλὴν ἐξ ἀνδρῶν Χαρραν, καὶ αἰχμαλωτευθήσεται λαὸς Συρίας ἐπίκλητος, λέγει κύριος.
[5] And I will break to pieces the bars of Damascus, and will destroy the inhabitants out of the plain of On, and will cut in pieces a tribe out of the men of Charrhan: and the famous people of Syria shall be led captive, saith the Lord.
[6] Τάδε λέγει κύριος Ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις Γάζης καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτούς, ἕνεκεν τοῦ αἰχμαλωτεῦσαι αὐτοὺς αἰχμαλωσίαν τοῦ Σαλωμων τοῦ συγκλεῖσαι εἰς τὴν Ιδουμαίαν·
[6] Thus saith the Lord; For three sins of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away from them; because they took prisoners the captivity of Solomon, to shut them up into Idumea.
[7] καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη Γάζης, καὶ καταφάγεται θεμέλια αὐτῆς·
[7] And I will send forth a fire on the walls of Gaza, and it shall devour its foundations.
