Foreward
Dear Reader,
* * *
My parents first official move when my dad joined the Air Force was to Hawaii. They were in their early twenties, got to spent six weeks on Waikiki Beach, and three years in an apartment on the beach in Oahu. My oldest sister was born in Honolulu. When we were sent to Australia, more military orders, of course, we spent a day in Hawaii there and coming back. I have pictures of myself in a grass skirt at a Luau as a baby.
* * *
Last summer, my parents took us all back to make more memories where our little family had started. We went to the Big Island and spent a day driving around Oahu, my parents reminiscing what the island looked like nearly forty years early.
* * *
It was magical. Hawaii is magical.
* * *
So it was with a heavy heart that I watched this beautiful island full of rich culture, stunning vistas, and incredible people burn to the ground.
* * *
As you saw on the news, the island of Maui, specifically the town of Lahaina had devastating fires that caused widespread damage, obliterating the village, killing more than a hundred people and leaving hundreds more missing.
* * *
I couldn’t sit back and do nothing. So, I reached out to as many of my author friends as possible to see if they would be interested in putting something together to raise money for those impacted by the fires. I hoped a few would say yes. I’m pleased to bring you more then fifty original stories from some of the best in the industry.
* * *
Thanks to you purchasing this anthology we will be able to help ease the suffering of those impacted.
* * *
Sit back. Turn the page. Dive in deep.
* * *
Enjoy ALOHA!

Chapter 1
“Sorry, folks, this weather system means we’re going to be here for a while,” the pilot announced over the speaker. “Hope you don’t mind an overnight in Hawaii.”
The rest of the plane groaned.
In consternation, I looked up from the sketches on my iPad. I’d been reviewing the sketches of the runway outfits Harmony had designed and sent over. “What did he just say?”
The man across from me in business class winked at me. “He said we’re spending a night in Hawaii.”
I pursed my lips. This couldn’t be happening. This didn’t happen to me.
Normally, I would be flying private. However, that plane had been occupied, and so I was stuck on a commercial flight, coming back from a modeling gig in Australia. I’d popped a Xanax on the way over and only woken up a half hour ago. I was supposed to be back in New York City by the morning to relieve the nanny and see the kids. Instead … this.
“Great,” I grumbled.
While we taxied into the terminal, I made arrangements with the nanny for her to stay an extra night with the kids. My mother obviously couldn’t be trusted to watch them. She shouldn’t have been trusted to watch me.
Then I slung my Birkin onto my arm and strode off the plane. The thunderstorm that had grounded us raged as I stepped into the airport. Arrangements would need to be made for the night. A car service, hotel, dinner. I’d texted my travel agent on the way, but I hadn’t heard from her yet. Usually, she was on top of things, but it would be the middle of the night back home.
“God, I need a drink.”
My heels clicked against the tiled floor as I navigated the airport past hundreds of other disgruntled travelers. An extra night in Hawaii would be a dream … had it been planned. Instead, all of us were stuck in a torrential downpour without hotel accommodations or any information about when exactly we’d be able to get out of here.
I found the first-class airport lounge. Glass doors slid open to reveal a crisp modern interior, a business center, and best of all … a fully stocked bar. Already, several dozen businessmen in stark black suits were seated around the room. Only a handful of other women were present, dressed in their own dark suits, on calls or buried in their computers.
