  “What did you just do?”

  “Took off my shirt.”

“Mm. Tell me more about this. What do you look like?” She laughs. “Is it weird that we’ve been gaming together for a year and I haven’t a clue what you look like?”

“Not weird, no. You and I have been on a low setting the way my housemate Jinxy makes dinner in a crockpot. And to be honest, I’ve enjoyed getting to know you like this.” I don’t want to tell her I’m tired of never having a personal connection with the girls I sleep with. “Let’s see, I’m six feet two, two hundred and ten pounds. I’ll spare you my football stats.” What else do women usually want to know? It’s been a while since I’ve had to talk myself up. “Um, blond hair that probably needs a trim and blue eyes. Have you ever seen that show Vikings? With that guy Travis Fimmel?”

  “Ragnar.”

“Yeah, that dude. My friends call me the Viking because they say I look like him.”

  “So you’re stupidly hot.”

I snort. “Before I started weightlifting, I was a beanpole nerd with braces, so that keeps me humble.”

“Aww, I have a thing for nerds. But you’re basically the opposite of me. I’m tiny, petite. Dark hair, dark eyes.”

My attention drifts to the Hawaiian mermaid on my wall, and my heart goes a little erratic. Could this be Kelani?

No, dumbass. Ninja said her name is Kelly. Don’t fuck this up by confusing what this is. And for the love of God, don’t call her by the wrong name.

Turning my head, I stare up at the ceiling. “So I’m going to tower over you?”

“Yes. You could crush me if you wanted.”

“I definitely want to do some crushing, but only the good kind. The kind you’ll like.”

Something rustles in the background. “There. I locked my door and took off my shirt too.”

Christ. “Tell me about this layout. Small tits? Big? Bouncy? Bite sized? I love them all, so spare no detail.”

She chuckles. “Are you a boob man?”

“I have a deep and abiding appreciation for breasts.”

“Well, my boobs are decent. High. Round. A full C-cup.”

  “Are they sensitive?”

“Not too much. Sometimes you have to give them a good squeeze or bite.”

I let out a breath. “I’m available for those activities.”

She laughs again. “What about you?”

“I do not have boobs.” In between her chuckles, I add, “But if I did, I’d be fondling them all day.” I know what she’s asking me, though. “Not gonna lie. My chest is probably my best feature.” I work my ass off in training and the benefit is a sculpted body.

  “Not your face?”

“I have a scar across my eyebrow, so lower your expectations.”

  “From football?”

“From my brother. He threw a trophy across the room when we were kids, and it landed on my skull.”

  “Ouch. Poor baby.”

“Yes, poor me. I think you should kiss it.”

  “Perhaps I should.”

I could listen to her sultry purr all night. “Are you in bed? I need you to set the stage.”

“I’m in bed, the lights are off except for a small lamp. I’m still wearing running shorts.”

I already know Kelly runs every day. I close my eyes and consider the legs on this woman. They’ve got to be sleek. “You said you’re petite. Think you could wrap your legs around me?”

  “I’d like to try.”

God, this woman turns me on. “Tug down your shorts. Leave on your underwear. But I need descriptions of everything.”

I hear the smile in her voice as she responds. “I’m leaving on my boy shorts. They’re a pale pink with lace on the edges.”

Why is everything about her so attractive? “Are they wet, baby?”

  She takes a breath. “Yeah.”

“Look down your body. What do you see?”

“My tan is fading, but it’s chilly in here, so my nipples are hard.”

“If I were there, I’d take one little bud between my teeth and nibble on it. Lick it. Suck. Take your nipple between your fingers and pinch it. Pretend it’s my mouth.” Her responding moan has me reaching into my shorts where I give my cock a tug. “Then run your hand down to your panties and rub yourself, but over the fabric.”

  “Wh-what are you doing?”

“I’m stroking my dick. I’ve been hard for you for the last three months, so I need relief.”

She laughs. “Want to know a secret? Sometimes, in the shower, I think about you.”

Thank god she can’t see me because I’m smiling like a lunatic. “How do you get yourself off in there? Fingers?”

  “Showerhead.”

I squeeze my cock hard because the visual she’s giving me is too hot. I don’t want to come yet. “So you run it against your clit?”

  “Yeah. And…”

“And what?” I’m literally holding my breath, wondering what naughty little things she does to herself when she’s all alone.

“I run it all over myself. My opening. My…”

  “Your asshole.”

“Yes. Everywhere. Until I can’t stand it any longer, and then I jam two fingers inside myself and hold the showerhead to my clit and come.”

“Jesus.” I stare down at my swollen cock. “That description alone makes me want to jizz myself.”

She pants. “I’m pretty close. I’m gonna slide my hand into my panties now.”

Yes. “Stick your fingers in yourself. Start with two, and then add a third.”

  “I usually just do two.”

I debate how to say this, but fuck it. We either mesh sexually or we don’t. “Baby, you should use three…”

  Chapter 2

  Kelly

Cam’s voice is a sexy grumble.

  I shiver. “Why three?”

He pauses. “I’m, uh, girthy, so…”

My core throbs as he grunts that in my ear. I swallow, my mouth dry. “Let me try.”

Everything about Cam turns me on. The sound of his voice. His sense of humor. His laidback personality. How hard he trains for football.

But I also know he’s one of the biggest players on campus, something he’s admitted to in a roundabout way. Which I only confirmed when his roommate basically shouted that he’s done threesomes.

I’ve wanted to meet Cam a hundred times over the last several months, but frankly, I don’t want to get hurt.

Except he’s here, talking to me after his big win instead of at the party raging in his own house.

In fact, the last few weeks, he’s played with me on Friday and Saturday nights. He has to be interested, right?

I kick off my panties and reach between my legs. “I’m dripping.” I’d usually be mortified to admit that out loud, but isn’t description key to good phone sex? Everything about this thing with Cam requires a leap of faith, and I’m tired of pretending to be unaffected.

  He affects me. A lot.

“Kelly, baby, put those fingers in your sweet little pussy.”

I can barely breathe, but I do as he says. “I’ll start with two. I like to close my legs and slide my fingers down my front. Kinda feels like…” Do I just say it?

  “Like a cock.”

“Yeah.” I groan on the first pass, shiver with the second. “I’m spreading my legs to try three. I need a second to get past my knuckles.” But I can’t do it at this angle. “I have to lift my knees, but I’m pushing in now. God, it’s tight.”

I can hear him breathing in my ear.

“Bet you feel fucking amazing. I’ve got a death grip on my dick right now.” He laughs, and it turns into a groan.

“Do you like getting head?” Jesus, Kel. That’s a stupid question. Doesn’t every man?

  “Are you offering?”

“Depends. Will you gag me on it?”

“God, no. I’m not one of those guys who will jam you down on my crotch.”

I probably shouldn’t have taken those hits off my sister’s joint earlier because now I have no filter. “Hmm. Too bad. I’m kinda into that.”

He makes a choking sound, and I laugh. “Christ, Kelly. I mean, I’m more than happy to accommodate you.”

“I want to come. If you were here, how would we do it?” I spread my legs and look down as he huffs in my ear.

“You mean after I lick you to oblivion?”

  “Yes, after that.”

“I’d probably kneel between your legs. Slowly work myself in. At that angle, I can watch myself impale you. Watch you stretch around me. Then I’d lift your gorgeous ass so my cock could rub along your g-spot as I rubbed soft circles on your clit.”

“Oh god.” My whole body tightens as my core pulses around my fingers.

He makes this sexy grunt, and I know he’s coming too.

Afterward, I flop on my bed, panting. “I don’t think you can top what just happened.”

His sexy laugh makes me smile, ear to ear. “I’d like to try.”

  Chapter 3

  Kelly

The next morning, I groan when I think about all the things I said to Cam last night.

“Why are you over there making weird noises,” my sister Lana asks as she pours her coffee.

“Trust me when I say you don’t want to know.”

She smirks. “Does this have anything to do with your sexy football player slash gamer boy?”

If Cam was being honest, there’s nothing boyish about him. “Possibly.”

Lana’s eyebrows lift as she waits for me to spill my guts. “And?”

I peer over my shoulder where my five-year-old niece Gia is watching cartoons in the living room and whisper. “We had phone sex. Except it was online.”

“While you were playing your little shoot ’em up game?”

“Warriors of the Vanguard is not some ‘shoot ’em up game.’ It requires skill. Teamwork. Strategy.”

She rolls her eyes. “My bad, gamer girl.” After taking a sip from her steaming mug of coffee, she asks, “Well? How was it?”

  “We won.”

“Not that, goofball. How was the sex?” she hisses. “Spare no detail. I need to live vicariously through you.”

“So, so hot.” I fan myself, remembering. “We’re supposed to meet today, but I’m scared.”

  “That he’s a psycho?”

“No, Lana. That we’ll mess this up. That meeting will destroy our vibe online. I finally have a great game partner, and this could ruin everything.”

Reaching for the bread box, she shrugs. “I still can’t believe you haven’t cyberstalked this dude yet.”

“I know, it’s crazy.” I press a hand to my stomach. “Let’s do it now. Let’s look him up.”

“You said you wouldn’t do that. You said you didn’t want to know anything personal about him.”

“That’s before I agreed to meet him.” I grab her hand and drag her back to my room while she yells about spilling her coffee. “This will only take a minute. He said his name was Cam, and he’s on the football team. How many Cams do you think there are?”

I don’t wait for her response before I pop open my laptop and search for the Lone Star State Bronco roster.

“Cam is short for Cameron, right?” I ask as I type it in. “Damn it.”

She peers over my shoulder and laughs. “It’s just your luck that there are three dudes named that.”

“But only two are blond.” I squint at the screen. “And one is a freshman, which leaves this guy, Cameron Fletcher.” And there’s that scar over his eyebrow.

Silence fills the room as Lana stares at the Adonis with shaggy blond hair and a roguish smile. “Holy hell, he’s hot.” But then she goes into mom-mode. “You said you were done dating athletes.”

  I sigh. “I know. It’s just… I think he might be different.”

“Kel, that’s exactly what I said to myself nine months before I spawned Gia.”

“But I’m approaching this differently. I’m going to straight-out tell him I’m only interested if he wants to date and be monogamous. None of this dine and dash bullshit. He can either take me on dates and spend real time with me, or he can bang the girls who go to his parties.”

  “That’s gonna scare him away.”

“It might.” I nibble my bottom lip. “But that’s a risk I’m willing to take. I want what Mom and Dad had, and I’m never going to get that if I don’t raise my expectations.”

My sister hugs me, and I lean my head on her shoulder. It’s been tough since our parents died in that car crash. Sometimes my heart hurts with how much I miss them. My mom would know what to do right now.

She always said when she was confused about life and big decisions, she’d ask the universe for a sign.

So I close my eyes and put that wish out there.

Mom, I need a sign. I want to know whether or not I should take a chance on Cam.

By the time I get to the coffee house, I’m a nervous wreck. I check my reflection in the rearview mirror one more time. I’m just wearing a little mascara and some tinted lip balm. I don’t usually wear much makeup, and I don’t want to bait and switch the man.

My ex gave me so much shit for not dressing up more. There’s probably some truth to starting the way you intend to go. I intend to wear jeans and t-shirts for the foreseeable future unless we’re spending a nice night out and I feel like dressing up. But because I want to and not because some man thinks I need to.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spot a tall guy in a letterman jacket head up the sidewalk to Rise ’N Grind. He’s wearing a black beanie, though, so I can’t tell if he’s blond or not.

Then I notice the bouquet of flowers in his hands.

My insides go sideways. Please let that be Cam.

Because I want a man who brings me flowers on a first date. I know I’m supposed to be all about girl power and doing shit for myself, but it’s nice to be treated like a princess once in a while, and I’m not too proud to admit that.

I slowly get out of my car and wrap my coat tighter around myself. Texas seems like it would always be hot, but it’s cloudy and cold in the hill country. There’s even talk of snow flurries this weekend.

When I reach the door, I take a deep breath and pull it open. Between the warm air from the coffee house and the cold air whipping behind me, my hair whirls around my face and I bat it away with a laugh. I should’ve tucked my hair under my hat, but I wasn’t expecting to get caught up in a mini-tornado.

After I step inside, I instantly connect with a brilliant pair of blue eyes.

  “Kelly?”

God, he’s even more gorgeous in person. “Cam?”

I pull off my hat and brush my hair out of my face again, and he does the same.

We stare at each other a long minute before we both start laughing. He pulls me into a hug and lifts me off my feet.

When I’m back down on the ground, he hands me a bouquet. “These are for you.”

I sniff the beautiful white flowers. “Gardenias are my favorite flower.”

He smiles. “I remember. You told me last summer when we did that round robin challenge online.”

My heart pounds like I’m in some kind of fairy tale.

Slow your roll, girl. Don’t get carried away. Have some coffee before you plan your honeymoon.

But in my head, I’m wondering if that’s the sign I’m looking for? How will I know?

I’m fidgety as we order our drinks. When I glance up at him, he’s already looking down at me.

“Cameron!” The barista yells, leaning over the counter to give him a fist jab. “Holy shit, man. That play in the fourth quarter was cray-cray!”

  He chuckles. “Thanks.”

A few guys come up to talk to him and slap him on the back, and I’m immediately reminded that his team just won a national championship. More people notice him and circle around us.

After a minute, though, he grabs my hand and starts to lead me away. “Sorry, y’all. I don’t want to leave my date hanging.”

He views this as a date too. Solid point in his favor.

Everyone’s respectful, but one guy screams, “Go Broncos!” and rips his shirt down the middle.

“Your fans are hard core,” I say with a chuckle as he leads me to a booth in the corner.

We sit across from each other, and I blow on my coffee to cool it down.

At first, we just look at each other.

Then he clears his throat. “This is gonna sound creepy,” he says slowly, “but for the sake of full disclosure, there’s something you should know.”

“Don’t scare me,” I say with a laugh.

His face flushes, and he smiles like he’s embarrassed. “Last winter, my brother went somewhere for vacation while I was stuck here for football. And the asshole brought me a touristy poster of this gorgeous girl to rub the whole thing in my face.”

I nod, not knowing where he’s going with this.

He rubs the back of his neck. “For the last year, I’ve had a poster of a stunning Miss Maui in a tiny bikini on my wall.”

  My eyes widen. “Oh.”

“Now, I’m not one to really believe in fate or kismet or anything like that, but, Kelani, don’t you think it’s a little weird I’ve had a poster of you on my wall since about the time we met online?”

My eyes sting as I think about the wish I made this morning, but I’m too choked up to say anything.

“I’m sorry,” he says quickly. “I didn’t mean to upset you. I swear I’m not a creep.”

I wipe my eyes as I smile. “This just reminds me of something my mother used to say. Maybe I’ll tell you about it someday.”

He nods, and the sweet look he gives me makes me want to crawl into his lap, except we’re not there yet.

But this all feels too heavy, and I want us to relax and really get to know each other. “So, Cam, if we’re going to be hanging out, maybe you should explain this football stuff to me.”

He gives me a huge smile and reaches for the sugar packets at the far edge of the table and spreads them out. “Let’s start with offense.”
