“I didn’t get near her. She got near me, brother.”

“Either way,” Skip told him, then stomped ahead and left the compound.

Brady followed. Nolan got close to me, Scott, Bronto, and Deacon and asked, “Could she have given me the STD with her mouth?”

“Not an expert on VD, prospect,” Deacon stated.

“She didn’t have it when she was with you, Nolan,” I stated. “You got any strange symptoms?”

He blew out a relieved breath. “No. Just checkin’. I’ll be keepin’ my distance though. That bitch gave me the best blowjob of my life, but she’s a little scary.”

“She told me she’s leavin’ his ass,” I said. ”Probably won’t be hard to steer clear.”

I clapped Scott on the back. “Sorry brother. I’m here for ya.”

  “Thanks, Jess,” Scott mumbled.

I went up to my room to lose myself in a book and count down the hours until my girl was back.

  ***

I did a double take when my girl walked toward me in the airport.

  She was blonde again.

She ran for me and jumped into my arms.

My fingers tangled in her hair as I kissed her.

“Love it,” I said, examining the strands. “Love you.”

I took in cotton candy. Citrus. And the taste of the woman I loved.

“I love you, too. God, I’ve missed you.”

She went to get to her feet but my grip on her ass tightened.

“Stay right where you are, hostage” I ordered, grabbing the handle of her rolling suitcase. We left, her wrapped around me like a baby koala bear.

I put her into my passenger seat and then drove her to the compound.

  ***

She was taking in the look of the new hall, which was lodge-like. And it was bustling with people. She saw it briefly the day she came back for her bag to pack for heading to Halifax, but now everything was done.

Right now there were bikers and their women parked on couches and at the bar that ran along one wall. She waved and returned the greetings she got.

“Welcome home. Love your hair,” came from Jojo, who was on Fork’s lap on a couch.

  “Thanks!” Gigi said.

“How’s your aunt doing?” Jojo asked.

“Not bad. She’s up there too. She’s taking it day by day.”

“We need to do a catch-up,” Jojo added.

  “Definitely.”

“Later,” I put in, eyes on Jojo. “Much later.”

Fork threw his head back and laughed.

“Never seen him laugh so much,” I heard from behind me. Ella. She was with Jenna by the bar.

“That’s the love of a good woman, kitten,” Deacon said coming in, looping his arms around her waist. She leaned back into him, her face melting with a look of bliss.

“Oh hey, can I talk to you a minute?” Rob Forker, Ella’s father asked, coming toward us from the back hallway. “Been waiting here for ya.”

“Brother,” I greeted. “Hey. Before you talk to me, know I haven’t seen my girl in nearly a month so I’m hoping what you’ve got to say isn’t gonna take me away from a reunion I’ve been waiting for.”

Rob laughed. “I’ll make it quick then. And I actually need to talk to your girl, not you.”

  “Me?” Gigi asked.

“Yeah. You know the big party we have planned tonight?”

  Gigi nodded.

“My band The Dubes is the openin’ act. But Bertie woke up with laryngitis this morning and I need a female voice on three or four songs. Spencer says you’ve got a great voice. What do you think about stepping in tonight?”

  Gigi looked stunned. “I…”

“It’d help us out in a big way,” Rob added, folding his hands in prayer position. “Bein’ Blow’s celebration of life and all. You know?”

A lot of sets of eyes were on her.

“She’s shy,” I said. “She’s got a voice that says Melissa Etheridge and Amy Winehouse’s love child, but she doesn’t like getting on stage. You don’t have to do this, G. Nobody’s gonna be upset if you can’t do it. Right, Rob?” I gave him a pointed look.

Rob’s mouth opened but before he spoke, my girl spoke up.

“It’s okay. I…” Gigi swallowed. “I am shy. Painfully shy. But this club has done so much for me. The least I can do is step outside my comfort zone a little. I’ll… I’ll be happy to get up there and do it. For all of you. For Blow. I might just need to get shitfaced first.” She shrugged.

“You’re gonna be among friends. You can just picture us all naked,” Ella offered.

“She’s seen most of y’all naked anyway, hasn’t she?” Skip said with a sneer from behind the bar.

I hadn’t clocked him before he spoke. And now I wanted to fuckin’ clock him in the mouth.

I scowled at him as I noticed he looked wrecked. Absolutely wrecked.

“Oi! You wanna swallow your fuckin’ teeth?’ I demanded.

He waved. “Just teasing. Can’t anyone hack a little teasing around this joint?” He wandered off, staggering down the hall toward the main floor bathrooms.

“Skip’s wife kicked him out,” Ella said under her breath.

  “Oh?” Gigi asked.

“If he wasn’t three sheets to the wind, he’d get taught a lesson for his fuckin’ mouth,” I stated.

“Like I said, lots to catch you up on, girlfriend,” Jojo said with big eyes.

  “Can’t wait,” Gigi said nervously.

  “So… you’ll try?” Rob checked.

“I… yes. I’ll do it. Just this once. It’s really not my thing though so…”

“Come to the Roadhouse around three and we’ll run through the set list and have a quick rehearsal. Nothin’ like trial by fire, right?” He laughed. “And that’ll give you two a couple hours for your reunion. Our set starts at eight thirty. The headliner goes on at nine thirty.”

  “Okay,” my girl agreed.

“Thanks a million, Gia,” Rob said and then he left.

“You guys are opening for AbstractED,” Jojo told her. “They’re on tour with Gorge right now, but they’re in town this weekend and Chase told Dad they wanted to come and play in The Roadhouse while they’re here; that they liked the acoustics. Good timing.”

Gigi’s eyes widened and she laughed nervously. I squeezed her hand.

“You’re gonna be great, Gia,” Spencer called from the couch he was sitting on. “Wait till you guys hear her voice.”

“He’s right,” Pippa chimed in. “You’re gonna be awesome, Gia. Maybe AbstractED will help you get discovered, too!”

“Uh, thanks, Spencer, Pippa,” G said, “But I’m not lookin’ for that. I’m just happy to help out for the club.”

“See you folks later,” I said and squeezed her hand before leading her to the stairs.

“It’ll be all right,” I said as we climbed, knowing she’d been nervous about running into the lead singer of that band the last time they were here because of his history with Kailey.

“Yeah, hopefully I don’t crap my pants on stage. I peed myself the first time Daddy made me stand up and sing in a smoky country bar. I was so nervous.”

“I meant about AbstractED’s singer. Though… fucking Grant.”

“Oh. That.” She shrugged. “I’m not so worried about that anymore. If he recognizes me, I’ll just have to tell him she’s gone.”

“So, you gonna be okay up on that stage?” I asked.

“Instead of picturing everyone naked, I’ll just sing to you,” she said.

I stuck the key into the keyhole on my door and turned the knob then bent and hefted her over my shoulder before kicking the door wide.

  She giggled.

“Oh, fancy!” she said after she bounced on the bed.

This room still had my shitty furniture in it. But there was a lot of extra room, so I had added a bookshelf to the corner to organize my whack of books. I’d also bought a guitar stand and put it on her side of the bed.

“I’ll buy us some new furniture when we get our own place,” I said. “There’s an apartment above the Chinese place I like. It’s only a few blocks from here. Maybe wanna see it next week?”

“Yeah, I’d love to,” she said, smiling. And then she got up and corralled me until I fell onto my back on the bed. She kicked off her boots, then climbed me.

“I’ve missed you so much,” she told me, putting her mouth to mine.

“Missed you, hostage,” I said. “Really like that you brought the blonde back with you, too.”

She smiled. And then her smile wobbled.

  “You all right?”

“I just agreed to get up in front of the whole club tonight and sing for a band opening for Chase O’Keefe’s band. What have I done?”

I rolled her to her back and went for her fly. “Let me relax you. Then we’ll talk it out. Okay?”

She nodded, but she bit her lip.

I undid her jeans and pulled them off, then pulled tiny black lace panties down and buried my tongue inside my girl.

“Oh my God, I’ve missed your tongue.”

I laughed against her while I plunged two fingers inside. She squeaked and grabbed my hair with both hands.

I pulled my fingers out and backed up two inches.

  “Who’s my girl?” I asked.

  “I am,” she whispered.

“You’re gonna be great up there tonight. You’ve got nothing to be afraid of,” I said and swiped my tongue across her clit, pulling a shudder from her.

  “I hope so.”

  I backed up.

  “You are. Say it.”

“Can we talk about this later?” she requested, looking like she was getting sexually frustrated.

“No. We’ll talk about it now. You don’t get to come until you show me you know you’ve got this.”

  She sat up, mouth dropping.

  “Go with it,” I whispered.

It took a second for her to process and then she smiled. “I’ve got this.”

I sucked her clit while palming one of her tits.

  She arched for me.

  “You’re gonna do great.”

  “Mm hm.”

“Say it.” I let go of her clit.

  “I’m gonna do great.”

I sucked again and resumed fingering her. And she clung to me so hard I think she was afraid I’d stop again. I didn’t get a chance to because it took all of thirty seconds before she was crying out in that beautiful throaty voice.

“Yeah, sing for me, Gigi,” I said as she was crying out. My boots were kicked off and my jeans were snapped undone. I kicked them and my boxers off while pitching my shirt across the room, then falling down onto her again.

She was loose, arms thrown over her head, cartoon hearts practically beaming from her eyes when I lined up and drove inside her hot, tight pussy.

“Mine,” I growled, then ripped her shirt over her head.

“Yeah, baby,” she whimpered, grabbing my shoulders.

“All fucking mine,” I repeated, ripping her bra cups down so I could get my mouth on her tits.

Her hands tightened in my hair.

“Eyes on me, Gianna,” I demanded.

She looked into my eyes and straight into my soul.

“Love you so fucking much. Proud that you’ll get up there tonight and overcome your fear for the club. You’ve got this. You’ll have ‘em eating out of the palm of your hand. All you gotta do is catch my eyes if you feel scared. Yeah? Look at me and you’ll know you’re good. Just sing to me, yeah?”

She nodded fast. “M’Kay. Move faster, please, baby.”

  I granted her wish.

I moved faster, harder, and in no time I exploded inside my girl.

Snuggled up afterwards, she started laughing.

  “What’s funny?” I asked.

“You’re naked.” She giggled. “Naked except for your socks.”

“Did I lose some sex appeal there, hostage?”

She held her finger and thumb aloft an inch apart.

I leaned forward, pulled them off, then tossed them.

“Couldn’t get inside you fast enough. Gimme a few minutes. I’ll ratchet my appeal up again.”

“I don’t doubt it,” she said, smiling. “It’s funny. You’re always so cool. So chill. But you, my beautiful man, fucking in just a pair of socks? That was flippin’ funny.”

Twenty minutes later, she was no longer laughing. She was whimpering my name into the sheets as I fucked her from behind.

  ***

Deke’s Roadhouse was packed. After Gigi had rehearsal with The Dubes, which she asked me not to attend as she wanted to try it on her own, she got on the back of my bike. Rob gave me a beaming smile, saying, “She’s amazing, brother. Really amazing.”

  “Yeah, she is,” I agreed.

We rode with the club for Blow, whose urn was strapped to the front of Rudy’s bike. Not only were we having the party at Deke’s Roadhouse for the mother and our chapters, but there were also members from all Brotherhood chapters present as well as bikers from the Black Reapers, The Reivers Clansmen, and Freebooters. We’d joined the formation when they arrived and drove through most of the streets of Aberdeen.

Now, a few hours later after a big spread of food was put on in the compound, it was time for The Dubes to hit the stage inside Deke’s Roadhouse.

The first song played was Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Gigi was not on stage for that one. One of the band members sang the woman parts in a high soprano, which was something The Dubes always did as it was a crowd pleaser.

Their second song, she got on stage for, and she got a lot of cheers.

My girl looked gorgeous in a strapless bustier and patchwork leather pants, smoky eyes, and her gorgeous blonde hair now a few inches longer. It was straightened and fell over one eye sexily as the spotlight hit her and she sang along to Rob playing alone, acoustically.

It took me a minute to realize he was playing Ike and Tina Turner’s River Deep, Mountain High.

And every single person in the space was riveted by her voice, by the words she sang to me. By the emotion on her face as she sang it. And I knew she wasn’t just singing it to me because of nerves. She was singing that song to me. I felt every word. Rob didn’t even sing along, and I’d find out later that she asked to sing that one. For me.

When the song ended, the rest of the band joined as they got into The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. Rob and Gigi singing together sounded as good as Lindsey and Stevie.

The next song was Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart, which got everyone singing. Then everyone was laughing their asses off because the band member that’d sang in the high voice in the Meatloaf song was chiming in for the ooh hoo parts in a high falsetto.

Gigi then sang a duet with Rob to the old song, I’ll have to say I Love You in a Song, then Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around by Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks.

And then Rob called out, “Special thanks to our guest singer Gianna Jones” which brought the house down with cheers and clapping before he launched into another Dubes cover I’d also heard many times. Deke got on stage with the band to play harmonica to a Blues Traveler song.

My girl joined me at the bar, getting kudos from everyone she passed.

She fell into me, and she was shaking.

  “Good shaking? Adrenalin?” I asked.

She signaled Coco, who passed her a vodka and orange juice that she’d already poured. “Great voice, girlfriend,” Coco exclaimed, “You did awesome! That drink’s on me.”

“Thank you,” Gigi exclaimed and then didn’t stop gulping until the entire large glass of vodka and orange juice was gone.

  I waited.

“No. Not the good kind of shaking, baby,” she finally said and then signaled to Coco for another drink as she put the empty glass down. “Not at all.”

I put my arms around her. “You did great. I’m so fuckin’ proud of you.”

“I didn’t pee my pants, but I am never flippin’ ever doin’ that again,” she vowed, still trembling, and then took a sip of my beer while waiting for Coco to bring her a new drink.

  “Don’t drink that, baby. Gluten.”

“Shit. Shit,” she muttered. “I need more alcohol.”

  “Excuse me. Gianna?”

We turned and the lead singer of AbstractED was approaching.

The rest of the color drained from my girl’s face.

“You remember me?” he asked. “I’m Chase from-”

“I remember you,” she said. “Hey.”

He cocked his head. “Not sure where to start here, so… um… I’ve been lookin’ for you.”

“Looking for me?” She bit her lip.

I looked him over, ready to get between them if he was about to give her shit for something her stepsister did.

“Yeah. Kailey… uh… sorry to hear about your loss. I read about that in the paper.”

“Thanks,” she said softly, then cleared her throat before hugging herself. I wrapped my arms around her.

Chase’s eyes briefly bounced to me before he gave her a look of sympathy and kept talking. “Back when she and I had our brief thing, she left your demo tape at my place. She asked me to listen and honestly, I tossed it in a drawer. Didn’t take her seriously.”

  Gigi frowned. “She did?”

“It kicked around for a while and then I moved, and it wound up in a box with a bunch of other music. Few months ago, coincidentally the day I read about Kailey in the paper, I was going through shit and organizing my tapes. I listened to the unmarked ones so I could label them. I heard it. And… gotta say, wanted to run into you to talk to you about your tape. I listened to it. Looked for you.”

  She stared blankly.

“Remembered your first name from when we met at that party. Didn’t know your last name. Asked around and nobody’d seen you in a while.”

“Yeah,” she said softly. “I left Sioux Falls just before she was murdered, otherwise I might be gone too.”

“Ouch. So, not to be disrespectful glazing over what happened to her, but that’s not what I wanted to talk about. Looked for you because of those songs.”

  “What do you mean?”

“I played a couple of your songs for my band and gotta tell you, we loved ‘em. Kept practicing while I tried to track you down. We’ve played two of those songs you wrote a bunch of times. Though we never sing it out at gigs or anything. Just when we’re jammin’. I’m not about to steal your song. We’ve been calling them Mystery Girl one and two because the tape was unmarked.”
