  Celestial Mage

  * * *

  This class uses divine power in spells. They can be defensive, offensive, and support spells.

  * * *

  The following spells have been awarded. Please note that additional spells can be learned.

  * * *

  All Heal – The caster has the power to heal all living creatures she comes in contact with. Such divine power should be used generously for all those in need.

  * * *

  Divine Shield – The caster will conjure a sphere of pure divine energy that will surround the caster and her party to protect them from all damage from enemies for a short time. Offensive spells cannot be cast while Divine Shield is activated.

  * * *

  Divine Sword – The caster can conjure a sword made of pure divine energy to use as a melee weapon.

  * * *

  Divine Celestial Purification – The caster will use this spell to purify the land of Florida one section at a time. The purification will expunge the land of any residual radiation. Healthy green grass and vegetation will grow once more. Bodies of water will be purified and healthy for all the people in Florida.

  * * *

  Divine Light – The caster will use this to find her way in the darkness.

  * * *

  Divine Spears– The caster can emit spears of divine energy from her celestial staff to damage enemies that wish her harm.

  * * *

  Divine Hail Storm – The caster will conjure a divine cloud over an area of her choosing that will shower the area with divine hail.

  Mind Warp – The caster will control the simple-minded temporarily to accomplish her goals. Intelligence beings are not so easily controlled.

  Blanket of the Celestial – The caster will blanket her party with divine energy to warm them in cold climates.

  * * *

  Divine Fists – The Caster will be able to turn her fists into divine light orbs and be used as a melee weapon. The caster will have no fingers when the Divine Fits spell is in effect. Fists will be used to deliver blunt force.

  “Holy fucking shit!” Lola shouted in disbelief.

  “I have tailored this class to you perfectly. I’ve given you skills to help the people of Florida and ease decades of suffering. You will have the abilities to heal them from their afflictions and return the land and water to their former glory. Use these abilities well. I’ve let the suffering go on long enough.”

  “I’m truly humbled by this gift. I promise I’ll use it to help the people here and back on Lelara. This is so wonderful! Thank you so much!” Lola cried and looked over at me, “Isn’t this amazing? I can’t even!”

  I smiled and nodded at the beautiful cat girl. “I can’t think of a better person to have this responsibility.”

  “I agree,” Scarlett added, with a lone tear streaming down her face.

  The deity moved in front of me. “Now, your turn.”

  “I will not be a fire mage anymore?”

  The Celestial Architect chuckled. “Of course you are. You’ll just be a more powerful one. It may not sound like it, but I don’t want you to fail. Do I want to be entertained? Of course, however, I want to make the wrong things right through you and your friends,” he motioned toward the screen once more.

  Fire Mage Class Upgrade

  * * *

  You are now a Celestial Fire Mage. You have all the prior skills and abilities that you had when you were a Fire Mage. The upgraded form, Celestial Fire Mage, will offer you even more power. You will hold a small portion of power of the Celestial Architect himself. Your previous spells will now use celestial energy to make them exponentially more powerful.

  * * *

  Ability to Create Offensive Spells – You will be able to use fire magic offensively in any way you wish on the fly.

  * * *

  Ability to Create Defensive Spells – You will be able to use fire magic defensively in any way you wish on the fly.

  “This is… um,” I was speechless, which didn’t happen very often.

  “You are worthy of a portion of my power. You are the first person I’ve used for my entertainment that has truly impressed me. Your generosity and longing to do good is rare in the universe. While my choice to uproot you from Lelara to do my bidding seems selfish and my strategy to motivate you seems harsh, I have good intentions.”

  All of this was totally unexpected. The deity still miffed me ripping Boz and my son from our life to use them as a bargaining chip, however I’m excited to fix all of this shit that he let happen to earth. “Thank you. I’m honored to do this for you and the people of Florida. I’ll use this new power to do good and make America great again… um Florida great again.”

  We remained in this celestial bubble thing, but the deity was lowering us slowly toward our destination. We were leaving space and descending into Earth’s atmosphere. Hopefully, this bubble would prevent us from burning alive from re-entry. This part of the space travel process was a pretty big deal–according to TV and movies, at least.

  The deity broke his silence, causing each of us to jolt out of our stupor. “On Earth, you cannot use the store from your interface like in Lelara. Things will be a little less convenient here on Earth, but you three are resourceful enough. Your interface will work like it did on Lelara. Call up your interface now as we descend. You will notice that you have 1 quest available at this time. Upon completing that quest, another will appear. All the quests that I give you on Earth are mandatory. You cannot disregard them. Don’t worry, I won’t give you meaningless quests. They will all serve a purpose.”

  I chose the Quests menu immediately. I was chomping at the bit to get started. I wanted to see Lola and Scarlett’s new powers in action. It was going to be epic.

  Quest

  * * *

  Find transport to the city of Tallahassee. Note that because of the nuclear devastation and EMP detonations, electronics no longer work on the island of Florida. Life is like it was centuries ago before the invention of electricity.

  Lola shrugged. “This seems simple enough? Right?”

  “That’s a good quest to ease us into the world. Let’s get started,” I demanded.

  “I like your eagerness. You’ll start soon enough,” the deity replied.

  We soared one thousand feet above the ground, seeing the horror of what Florida had become. Buildings and homes were rubble covered by years of erosion and deterioration. The ocean covered eastern Florida dozens of miles inland. We were visible to the people below in our freaky bubble thing. People stopped in their tracks and looked at us soaring overhead. No doubt wondering what in the heck we were. Legends of an alien UFO flying over would be told for centuries. Lola waved and smiled as we descended closer. It felt like we were on some sort of motion ride at an amusement park soaring over a post apocalyptic fantasy world. We saw strange animals, no doubt mutated by the radiation from the nuclear attack two centuries ago. A horse-drawn carriage rode down a small dirt path. Our presence clearly spooked the riders and horses. Suddenly, some kind of large creature burst from the gray and brown forest and attacked them as they watched us. The creature flipped over the carriage and bit the heads off of the two riders before throwing their lifeless bodies on the ground and turning its attention toward the two horses. We moved further away before the creature ripped them apart and feasted on their fresh corpses.

  “Radiation has mutated many life-forms. What you saw used to be an alligator. Now it moves on two legs and has grown five times its normal size.”

  “Well, that’s not terrifying at all,” I replied sarcastically as I scanned the land for more monstrosities.

  “We are nearing the spot where we will part ways until you have completed the quests I place before you. On your journey down the Crimson Bone Road, you will meet the death general named Florida Man. After he is defeated, you will travel the road to Gainesville to kill the sadistic death general named Cuntface. We will find the third death general in Murkywater – he goes by the name – The Biologist. Lastly, after you have received those three keys, you will travel to the Magic Kingdom to end Pandora’s reign. At that point, you will receive the fourth key and your quest will be over. You will be returned to my celestial home and allowed to unlock Boz and Rez from their stasis. Do you have any questions for me?”

  “Do you have any more information on these death generals that you can tell us?” Scarlett asked.

  “You’ll learn soon enough. The people still alive will be happy to tell you all about the savage men. You’ll be seen as the saviors of the world when you get started. Your powers will blow their minds. The only magic they’ve ever seen is the magic of Pandora once or twice. Most people that see her in person don’t live to tell about it. Especially in this day and age, if you see her the chances of you being led to the slaughter at Slash Mountain are great,” replied the Celestial Architect as the bubble descending to the ground.

  I peered off into the distance from the shore. “Is that Georgia across the water? Is that a wall?”

  “The United States cut off Florida completely when they were bombed and the earthquake turned Florida into an island. Floridians are not allowed off this island. If anyone tries to cross the water and land on the shore of Georgia, they will be killed on site with no questions asked.”

  “That’s cold dude,” Lola added with a headshake.

  “It’s up to you to return Florida to a beautiful land where its inhabitants can thrive. You must destroy the evil that lives here, and Lola must purify the land with her divine magic. These people will be so happy to see what you are going to do for them.”

  I felt a sense of pride returning here and returning with power to make a difference. Florida has suffered long enough, and it was time to take out these death generals and the evil bitch Pandora. “Are we going to see you any more or just when we are done?”

  “Possibly, if I see no other recourse. I’ve given you the tools to save this land. It is up to you to use these tools. I’m going to give you some new clothing that is more becoming of mages sent from the Celestial Architect.”

  He snapped his fingers and our clothing changed completely. Scarlett wore a black dress that draped to her knees with huge splits up the sides of her thighs. The top half of the dress was more like a corset that pushed her boobs upward beautifully. She seemed pleased with the attire. Lola wore a perfectly white dress of the same length with blue accents. It looked like something a priestess would wear in a temple, but sexier. I wouldn’t have it any other way, and neither would she. I wore a black hooded robe that fell to my ankles. There were beautiful red accents and designs similar to what I saw in the Celestial Architect’s home.

  “There, you look wonderful. Don’t you think?” the deity asked with a smile on his radiant energy face.

  “I fucking love this man. It’s awesome,” Lola replied excitedly. She couldn’t keep her eyes off of her new threads.

  “You both look amazing. Everyone on this island will remember you.”

  We watched the Celestial Architect ascend into the sky and out of our vision in seconds. We were actually here, and we were on our own.

  You’ve entered Havana

  * * *

  Population 550

  * * *

  Territory: Under the rule of Florida Man

  * * *

  Local Governing Body: None

  * * *

  Relatively Peaceful

  * * *

  Residents: 75% Humans and 25% Mutated Humans

  Diseases and Afflictions: Malnutrition and dehydration

  This was the beginning of the Crimson Bone Road. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before. This was some sick and depraved version of the Yellow Brick Road from the Wizard of Oz. We would travel this road all the way to the Magic Kingdom or Emerald City. We even flew into Oz in a bubble like Glenda, the Witch of the North. The road looked like a steam roller just flattened a pile of skeletons. It was terrifying and sad that these were real bones. The material used to make this road wasn’t artificial and just for looks like some kind of Halloween decoration. They made this road of dead people. Some bones made sick crunching sounds as our feet walked across the vile pavement. Lola and Scarlett wrinkled their noses at the sight and sound of the wicked road.

  “Fuck, we really have to walk down this nasty ass road to finish the mission?” Lola asked, followed by a gagging noise.

  “Yep. Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it,” I replied calmly.

  “Are you sure about it? This not only looks nasty, but it smells nasty,” Lola added.

  “What do you expect? These are the bones of dead people. We aren’t walked in a flowery meadow. Mason’s right, you’ll get used to it. I also have a feeling we will see things that are much worse on this bizarre journey.

  Suddenly we were jumped by three of the bipedal alligator creatures we saw on our trip down here.

  Gatormen

  * * *

  Attacks – Hand to Hand Melee and Biting

  * * *

  Weaknesses – The belly is the softest part of the body

  * * *

  Strengths – Fast, Strong, and Fearless. Their bite is powerful enough to bite a full grown man in half.

  “Hmm, that’s new and useful. Did you get the same notification that I got when these things showed up?” I asked as I swiped the window out of my vision.

  “Yeah, I have it as well,” Lola responded.

  “Me too,” Scarlett added.

  Scarlett raised a dirt wall out of the ground immediately to stop the Gatormen’s approach. After a few punches from the monsters, they were able to break through. Scarlett then threw razor rocks toward the colossal beasts. They roared as the projectiles buried into their tough skin, but they kept approaching. Spears of light shot from the staff Lola was given. Each spear left white glowing craters in their flesh.

  Scarlett leaped toward them with her rock sword spell and began slashing at their bellies. Lola followed suit with a divine energy sword. Steaming entrails fell to the dirt and limbs flew everywhere as the two ladies massacred the huge, terrifying beasts.

  “Holy shit, I didn’t even have to lift a finger. You girls are outstanding. I mean… damn.”

  “We were pretty bad ass. These classes are incredible,” Lola cheered.

  “That energy sword spell you have Lola was incredible. You sliced through their huge limbs like butter,” Scarlett said as she walked over to me, “So, mister celestial fire mage, are you going to lay back and let us do all the work?”

  “I just might. It’s like watching a Marvel movie and those outfits are sexy as fuck.”

  “You can come out. We will hurt no one,” Lola announced to people hiding beside the road, “We’re here to help.”

  A young child darted out in front of us and fell to our feet. He was shirtless and shoeless, only wearing a pair of tattered brown pants. “We saw you come down from the sky. You are from God and you are here to save us. We have prayed for so long!”

  I had no plans to tell anyone that the God they have prayed to and worshiped didn’t exist. However, they weren’t wrong completely. The Celestial Architect is a deity, and he sent us to help.

  “My son is being disrespectful. I’m sorry. He shouldn’t have stopped you in this manner. You’re way too busy to speak to people like us,” said the man’s father, who was extremely skinny with nothing more than some shorts on. The man also had a noticeable limp. He’d injured his right leg at some point.

  “It’s fine. We aren’t bothered,” I replied with a smile.

  “Thank you for killing those Gatormen. They’ve been terrorizing this community for weeks. We could not scavenge for food and our water was almost out. Thanks to you, we can use their meat and fill our bellies.”

  Scarlett twirled her hand over the grass on the side of the road and water rose and spurted in the air like a fountain. I’d forgotten that she was given a spell that could create water springs.

  “Look daddy, water!” shouted the boy as he dove into the puddle the spring had made. He drank and drank until he almost threw up.

  “Thank you so much. We’ve not had water of this clarity in years. We don’t have to boil it before we drink. Thanks be to God for sending you to us.”

  Lola waved the father over to us. “May I see your leg? It’s so swollen. What happened to it?”

  I was trying to find something to eat last week, and I was chased by the Gatormen. I fell and hurt my knee. I heard something pop. It’s painful, but I’ll manage. We have much work to do now that the monsters are gone. We need to stock up on food before more monsters come or Florida Man sends his cronies to rob us blind.

  “Stay still…” Lola commanded the man.

  He nodded and his eyes widened when he saw Lola’s hands glow. She held her hands on both sides of the man’s knee. The swelling and redness subsided, and we heard what sounded like bones or tendons mending themselves back together.
