The Rebellion of The Angels, page 4
—Youth, we have to get out of here, something is coming fast.
—What…! —Her friend exclaimed, walking towards the exit.
—I could not tell you what it is but I do not have a good feeling, because it disturbs the soil —Experience explained out loud, trying to leave the cane field desperately. Suddenly, as if it were an avalanche that was coming from West to East in the direction of the end of the cane field, crunchy noises of canes that were crushed, were heard continuously. It was not known yet what was causing this natural disaster, but in any case, once Experience was far from the cane fields, she ran towards the forest shouting:
—Run Youth, run to the forest. I think those hairy creatures have returned — And when she looked back to see if her friend was following her, she discovered that she was still running in the cane field, going down to the South, as if trying to distract her pursuers that, without being seen, continued tearing canes down...
Experience crossed the open field that bordered on the cane field, and she quickly went into the forest, where she continued running at full speed, alternating her gaze between the road to travel and the road she left behind, as she tried to verify if indeed the murderous capybaras were following them. Without distinguishing for sure if they were or not those creatures, because at times the trees hid every pursuer that was there, she confirmed, by discovering one of the many rolling bulges that advanced in the distance that such figure could not be interpreted as nothing but the murderous capybaras.
Later, Youth was the one who, farther South, managed to leave the cane field behind, and without stopping running like Experience, she crossed the open field and went into the forest, followed by another group of capybaras.
Even without seeing each other, Experience and Youth ran in parallel through different areas of the dark forest, sometimes eluding eucalyptus trees, sometimes lowering their speed due to the mattresses of leaves, and others they stumbled by alternating their gaze between the road and their pursuers that, due to the continuous hillocks, disappeared at times as if they were absorbed by the soil. Thus, followed by the tireless capybaras, they crossed another section of the dark forest, until they found each other in the intersection of the respective roads that each of them took, and which had a hillock downhill beyond, much deeper than those they left behind; with the exception that a part of a big construction could also be seen in the distance, that because of being located in that low area of the forest and surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees whose top hid it, it was not seen from anywhere outside the forest, hence neither Experience nor Youth discovered it, even having inhabited the highest mountain in the region.
It was a castle with solid rocky walls that perhaps, because it was apparently abandoned, looked old but it was precisely that appearance what gave it a certain charm on the outside. On its front there were a few windows, all closed and covered with cobwebs that imprisoned its natural victims. At the ends, worn towers could be seen, with a window each, as if the time accused its great age.
They ran for several minutes with their guardian angels behind them, although with the paradox that also the murderous capybaras were behind them. Experience and Youth looked at each other and as they read each other's thoughts, they agreed that the castle was their salvation.
And while the soles of their boots produced sparks, rising dry leaves of the wooded floor as if a strong wind lifted them and shook them from one side to another, while Youth accelerated her pace even more, as if venturing to open that oak door with a head butt… It was precisely something like that what she tried to do, revealing one of her many angel gifts, although perhaps one more of those she could not use on Earth, to cross walls... For this reason, Youth hit the castle door falling noisily backwards, and she fainted; Meanwhile, Experience, with great discomfort, took the bow that crossed her chest and then an arrow of her quiver, and she threw it. With great fortune, she introduced the arrow into the keyhole of the door, which unlocked automatically. Then, Experience took advantage of the fact that it was already unlocked, and the door opened immediately. She took Youth by her clothes as she could, and she dragged her inside the castle, totally fainted by the blow... When she realised, two capybaras, ready to threw their needles, ran towards her; Experience, who risked her own life to save her friend's, in just a millisecond was able to get two arrows from her quiver that she used as a knife to stab her first two opponents to death.
But the capybaras were not just two... Then, Experience had just a few seconds to enter the castle and closed the door behind her, locking it with a thick wooden stick; that action coincided with the manoeuvre of one of the many murderous capybaras, which threw itself against the door with its hairy ball shape, uselessly, bouncing as if someone had hit him with a solid stick. Many of them did the same as they arrived, crashing against the door with their hairy ball shape, also uselessly.
Once they were apparently safe inside the castle, Experience breathed repeatedly and deeply, because the run and worry suffered when she saved her friend´s life and the fight itself, had tired her out; her angelic face turned pale and while the door continued stopping the blows of the tireless murderous capybaras from outside, the young woman, after making sure her friend was still breathing, took her wineskin from the rucksack and she splashed her friend´s face with water to revive her, and then she drank anxiously and untidily to recover.
Chapter III
The saviour passage
A little more recovered, Experience put her wineskin in the rucksack, took a breath and tried to make Youth react. She shook her at times, giving her light slaps on the face and making mouth—to—mouth resuscitation without results: the blow had been very hard and Youth did not wake up, but the fact that she was still breathing gave Experience a certain relief.
—Come on, wake up, wake up, we cannot stay here! —Experience was so worried because her friend did not wake up that she had not even had time to take a look at the place. When she did it, she found a rest room with relatively high walls, formed by three large doors that led to many sectors of the castle, decorated by two very old armchairs, a striking coat stand and some pictures hanging on both sides of the doors.
—Come on Youth, come on. Wake up!— Experience insisted, alternating her gaze between her friend and the three doors, like thinking which one to open, because they could not stay in that place so unprotected, with the insistent capybaras hitting behind trying to enter the castle. Concentrated only on what she was doing, Experience carried Youth again, without even looking at the guardian angels that in any way continued with their normal colour, that is to say transparent, with which it was not possible to notice if the castle was or not inhabited by natural humans. Regarding the capybaras or other animals, the guardian angels did not express any description with those creatures, precisely because they did not show the presence of members of the animal kingdom, even though they were as wild as those capybaras.
Then Experience opened the door on the right side and fortunately she found a long uninhabited corridor, which in the distance turned to the left, where a marble staircase led to the upper floor. She passed from one area to another and, as she could, holding Youth, she closed the door behind them. The capybaras quietened down, apparently, since they did not smell the aroma of the young girls throw the door any more. And interpreting that they were not on the other side, the capybaras left the main door of the castle going back to the forest again, little by little...
Meanwhile, in the occupied corridor inside the castle, Experience stopped walking for a moment with Youth on her back, dragging her feet along the red carpet that extended along, and she inspected the place a little better, although at least on that wing she did not find anything too significant; three windows with an outward view riddled with cobwebs as in the entire roof and probably in the whole castle given its abandonment, three doors that were a mystery, and not many candelabra, those that illuminated them, placed on the side walls, giving off a weak light that diffused tenuously in the place. Once again, Experience walked dragging Youth to the nearest door and when she opened it, she found a momentary safe place, at least until her friend woke up. It was a huge, brightly dressing room, with a narrow but long corridor, which, surrounded by the most varied possibilities of clothing for the four seasons perhaps, extended to the other end, where a thick and worn curtain supposedly hid the dressing room.
Without hesitation and with their respective guardian angels behind them, Experience went into the left side of the corridor, dragging Youth along the first row of clothes, discovering many others until they finally found an empty space that bordered on the wall. There, Experience put Youth on the floor and repeating the manoeuvres already made in the lobby of the castle, she tried to revive her. First she shook her, then she gave her light slaps on the face, and then she tried mouth—to—mouth resuscitation, but she did not get any results either; her friend did not wake up, until after a few seconds she took out her wineskin again and she poured the remaining water over Youth´s face, who awoke energetically as if she had woken up from a nightmare, although when she straightened her torso up she was still panting, until she gradually recovered.
—I knew you would not leave me! —Experience happy exclaimed and hugged her tightly, up to the point that Youth breathed deeply, opening both eyes, green as the centre of the stars, so much that she seemed to lose them at any moment. Suffocated by the hug, Youth tried to separate from the joy of Experience, who in a few seconds almost did what that strong blow could not: killed her friend... and when they separated, breathing deeply, Youth exclaimed:
—Your words do not agree with your actions!
—I was very worried about you —Experience exclaimed smiling, taking her friend by the face and kissing her head; opportunity in which Youth looked at the guardian angels and realized what they indicated...
—Experience, in this place or very close there are demons. Where are we? —Youth asked in reference to the angels who took the angel Lucifer´s side, later called Satan by God as punishment, and only then paying attention to the small place that sheltered them and to all the clothes on the side.
—We're inside the castle —Experience said, now looking at the guardian angels—. I was so worried about you that I did not even look at them. This is a kind of closet, I do not know if it will be a safe place...
Suddenly, Experience was interrupted by several glasses shattering in some other room of that isolated castle in the middle of the forest—. Sure, I do not think this is any room in this castle —Experience completed, after hearing that sound.
—What will we do? —Youth worried asked—. Listen… —She continued when she realised that the castle had new occupants, since they simultaneously heard the creak produced by several boots when trying to cling to the floor, after landing abruptly inside the castle.
As the guardian angels indicated according to the red colour, it was nothing but demons, that is to say, on behalf of those angels who once took Lucifer or Satan´s side in the Celestial country, in order to oppose to the creation of the man and stole the Holy Grail when they descended to Earth, and perhaps somehow keeping in touch with Satan, they had the striking and amazing ability to transform their external appearance of men into red—skinned demons as if a magician covered them for a moment with his cloak and after removing it, he achieved that effect; as spectacular as when a chameleon changes its colour. The demons made that change when fighting; for this reason only Experience and Youth, thanks to the help of their respective guardian angels, could discover among the natural humans the demons, even in their appearance of men.
Seconds later, everything was suddenly quiet, as if nothing had been heard before. Experience and Youth looked at the ceiling of that dark place where the brittle light entered under the door, and they leant their ears close to the wall as if trying to hear beyond. Only their refined auditory senses allowed them to do that, thanks to their divine condition of angels.
Later both were frightened after listening to many isolated footsteps, which seemed to cover the entire room that housed and hid them at the same time, to the point of listening those footsteps moving away and approaching continuously, action that was repeated with intense runs and breaths that were deeper and deeper, as their developed auditory sense perceived, which worried the young girls even more. Later they realised that the stairs were being used, since several and continuous footsteps slid bothering the sleepy marble treads, and the runs in the room occupied by Experience and Youth were reborn.
—Experience, we must leave here or they will find us and... —The door of the room opened and closed suddenly. Shortly after, someone breathed deeply next to it, as if recovering from the runs inside that place.
—They found us —Experience said in a low voice, indicating that she had to bend down, both hidden by the clothes hanging in that dressing room. They discovered, sticking their heads out those clothes, that someone was walking down the corridor that separated both sides, and although they did not know if it was a man or a woman, or how old that person was, despite the fact that the size of her feet did not indicate adulthood, they did know thanks to the guardian angels who were transparent, that who had entered the place was a natural human and not a demon.
Then Experience took the initiative, and taking advantage of the little clarity of the room, she approached the corridor, always walking among the clothes, followed by Youth, who was wielding her knife just in case, because the clothes that hung on many hangers determined the perfect use of their other weapons: the sword or the bow and arrow. And when that mysterious visitor was about to reach the other side of the corridor, near the young angels, and seconds before the entrance door opened unexpectedly for the second time, Experience put her arms out the clothes and she took that visitor from hers, and covering her mouth so that she could not scream, she attracted her to herself, hiding her also among the clothes... And Experience would get a big surprise when she discovered that her prisoner was… a woman, young, a few years younger than her but maybe, similar to Youth. And although in the shadows you could see her frightened face for having fallen into the hands of young people she did not know, what concerned her the most was her pursuer, who was entering the room… it was one of the many demons that broke into the castle entering through the windows, causing so many shattering. Slowly and with a pitchfork in hand, the demon began to move down the corridor that was surrounded by clothes on both sides, looking for the young woman he was chasing, while outside and in the distance, the characteristic noise of different weapons was heard, as if a fight of few combatants was taking place in other sectors of the castle.
The demon continued walking with his pitchfork in his hand, and when he was about to reach the other end of the room, where supposedly a thick and worn curtain hid the dressing room, after apparently hearing the deep breathing of the young woman he was chasing, he turned violently to his left and in the same abrupt way, he opened a furrow among the clothes with his pitchfork...
—Surprise! ... —Youth exclaimed, who had abandoned her knife and taken her bow and one of her arrows, and placing it horizontally above the clothes, she threw it before the astonishment of the demon that fell backwards among the clothes on the other side of the corridor, with the arrow as decoration of his forehead.
—Do not shout or do anything strange, we will not hurt you, do you understand me? —Experience told her prisoner, still hidden among the clothes and still covering her mouth.
—Do you live here? —Experience asked the young woman, who was already free.
—No, no, we are just passing through!
—We are…? Who are you with and how many of these demons are out there? —Youth asked, christening their enemies for what they were.
—Two of my father´s friends were taking care of me until he came back from the fruit market, but four of these things came in and... —The girl was telling them, still among the clothes.
—Come, we will get out of here; Then you will complete your story —Experienced interrupted, and she went to the corridor followed by the girl, who had not been asked what her name was, and apparently, who knew the place better than her new companions. She told them:
—In the dressing room there is a revolving mirror that leads to a library.
—Well, let's go —Experience said, while Youth put the clothes aside where the demon had fallen, simply to make sure he was dead.
Then they went to the dressing room, and while the young woman that had appeared, opened the secret passage that the mirror was hiding, Youth, thanks to the gap between the curtain that hid the dressing room and the frame of the wall, discovered a second demon that entered the room. And after noticing that the dressing room curtain was moving in a striking way, he went to verify what was happening or what was on the other side; and as he moved a little farther down the corridor surrounded by clothes, he noticed the figure of a person, so he walked faster, but as he moved the curtain he became very disappointed because that figure was no longer there... He was sure he had not confused, even in darkness, that figure with a hallucination, as a result of his anxiety to catch the girl who was previously chased by one of his companions. He imagined she was still alone, then he entered the dressing room without finding more than the mirror; He inspected the ceiling and touched the side walls with his hands, discovering that the mirror hid something behind...; then the demon rose his weapon and with its extremity he checked what he already suspected: that it was a revolving mirror and a secret passage too, and when he passed to the other side, that is to say to a library, he found Youth that was waiting for him with another arrow, saying:
