The Rebellion of The Angels, page 19
—I am fine but they kidnapped my daughter, they kidnapped my daughter Rahab —He said with tears in his eyes—. They kidnapped me to take them to the portal that leads to the hidden path that leads to the treasure from the East. We arrived at the treasure hiding place. Him —Abed said, pointing at the friend next to him—. and the rest of our companions tracked us down and they could rescue me in the middle of a huge battle, which took the lives of our other comrades and many other people —He concluded—.
In a couple of hours I will leave with them... —He said now pointing at the group of Youth, Hope, Light, Peace, Love and Compassion who, with Eyes of Heaven, Temperance and Offer as representatives, greeted each other with the rest of their brothers, those who were also angels with the skin of men and women, followers of God and led by Eyes of Heaven—. ...in search of Rahab...
—We will go with you —Another of his friends added.
—No, you will be more useful here. The war has begun and the arrival of the enemy to this town will not wait too much —Not very happy, his friends accepted what Abed somehow suggested—. Now, if you excuse me, I will go to rest for a while —He said, although he would not do it without going through a table where Hope, Eyes of Heaven, Light, Peace, Love, Compassion, Offer, Temperance and Youth, who did not have enough hands to serve tasty chicken, were having dinner.
Then, most of those angels with the skin of men and women led by Eyes of Heaven went to rest taking different doors that started from the sides of that room. They were warned, shortly before by their leader about what would be the steps to follow from now on.
Shortly after, the general approached the last table of dinner guests, announcing for all those who were very focused on their dishes:
—My king has just sent an intelligence patrol to make sure that you, when you leave at dawn, have free roads at least until you leave the edges of our lands. Now, if you excuse me, I will go and rest —He said, and left the room as soon as the group of dinner guests did the same in search of their beds.
Hours later that room was totally revolutionised. Some of those who were angels with the skin of men and women followers of God, led by Eyes of Heaven —once they already finished their breakfast as the only meal of the day maybe, given that they did not know at what moment they would be able to rest, among other things, to feed themselves again— marched towards the stables in search of the horses while others, a little more behind, finalised details of the preparation of their weapons.
For this reason Offer ordered:
—Take only what is essential. We must be light to travel fast —While Offer and now Temperance did the same as Youth, Hope, Eyes of Heaven, Light, Peace, Love and Compassion did, and in another not too distant area, Abed surrounded by his four friends.
At that moment, far from that room, a patrol was at the foot of the access to the town entering a few minutes later —They were the soldiers that King Lagash sent to ensure that the group that will travel had the roads free, at least until leaving the edges of those lands—.
Minutes later, the king himself accompanied by the general and their respective custodies entered the room and after approaching Youth´s group the king greeted:
—Good morning my dear travellers. I wanted to tell you personally that the patrol I sent yesterday night to inspect the frontier routes, informed me that they did not found traces of the enemy. I estimate that at least during the first day you will have a quiet trip. However, I want you to arrive at your destination without surprises. And I want God to enlighten you at the end of the road, when you have no alternative but to face the enemy —Some of them smiled in response to the words of the king and others, very focused on observing the hilt their swords or the thick feather of their arrows, did not even have time for that. But nevertheless...
—Thank you, Lord —Said an exception among so many concentrated beings, Hope; while aside, Abed said goodbye to his friends hugging them one by one.
Accompanied by the king and the general with their respective guards, the group, without separating and Abed joining them after saying goodbye to his friends who looked at him from the door of the room, went to the stables where the horses rested; while the group of the king was went in the direction of the sophisticated doors of access to the town, where Temperance and Offer were waiting for all they companions —those angels with the skin of men and women, followers of God led by Eyes of Heaven—.
And it was precisely Eyes of Heaven who, riding his horse as well as his companions, asked Temperance and Offer:
—Are you sure you remember how to get to the cloudy forest region? —As they galloped towards the entrance of the town where everyone else was waiting for them.
—Yes, so do not worry —Temperance said, galloping along.
—Then, that God our Father enlightens you. Go with God —Eyes of Heaven greeted them at the seriousness and melancholy of the others for not knowing if they would see them again, at least in that life.
—Through our prayers we will be communicated with you —Offer said, leaving the row along with Temperance, and when they arrived at full gallop at the gates to the town where the rest of the horsemen were waiting, the guards opened the entrance and after the greeting of the king:
—Good luck, my horsemen of God —Temperance and Offer pulled the reins of their respective horses and after a shout as order of departure, they led all that thick group of horsemen with those who were angels with the skin of men and women followers of God, who were heading to the farthest Northeast of the northern continent, starting in the central region of the southern continent.
The doors of the town were open and soon the small group of Youth, Hope, Eyes of Heaven, Light, Peace, Love, Compassion and Abed approached. After aligning in a single row, they made a reverence before the king with a gesture with their heads as a greeting, and in the same way the king said goodbye to them, who immediately went off like an arrow in the direction of the West but with the same objective as the first group that left: to reach the farthest Northeast of the northern continent where, according to what Abed said, in a correct way, for having listening to the dialogue of two demons in his time as their hostage, the enemy had its base, although this was the alternative one, information unknown by Abed and others.
But this last group marched with an additional overload represented in Abed, thanks to whom the enemy could know their movements because the demons still had the wizard, Suleiman, as a hostage. As he knew Abed in person, he could know where he exactly was. Hence they decided to separate so that Temperance and Offer reached the enemy base with as many fighters as possible, for once there; they would deploy their power fighting the battle to rescue Rahab and seeking to exterminate their demon enemies.
Although it was not those two groups —although one was ten times more numerous than the other— the only ones that began such a long and dangerous journey; since from the farthest eastern region, that closest to the oceanic coast, even without agreeing, another very large group coincided in time and purpose with the first mentioned... It was the group of neutral angels with the skin of men and women who, led by Kindness in the company of Experience, in large and long cavalry were leaving by a large mouth cavern, thus abandoning the underground roads and reaching the oceanic coast, being received by a strong wind that pushed them coming from the East, from the sea, but that still did not intimidate them as if to stop advancing at full gallop through that region bordering on the sea.
The minutes ran and many hours passed, and days and maybe even weeks for those three groups of travelling horsemen, who were going to the southern continent climbing northward at full gallop and through different regions, all differentiated by their landscapes, roads, weather, vegetation and fauna.
The group led by Temperance and Offer, that of those who were angels with the skin of men and women, followers of God, all of them Eyes of Heaven´s companions, made the hoofs of their horses resound while they were going through the central region, in which there were many alternatives when choosing a certain path, perhaps because it is the backbone of the continent and it facilitate the access to the bordering regions of the East and West.
This region had the most varied but prolonged landscapes, as it advanced through fields, meadows, mountains, and forests, which given the season —in this case autumn— were very loose in some cases, and almost naked in others, under days of warm suns.
On the other hand, the group led by Kindness in the company of Experience, made up of neutral angels with the skin of men and women, galloped firmly along the wide beaches whose sand colour looked like shiny gold, sometimes interrupted by the grottoes carved in the bosom of the soil thanks to the deformation caused by the days of rain, and fundamentally when the tide grew abruptly. At such a point that at certain moments those grottoes appeared by surprise as walls, without giving way to the horsemen, forcing them to branch off towards the West, beyond the beaches where high dunes soaked with abundant vegetation grew, represented by conifers that forced the horsemen to double their efforts.
The weather was cold and rainy. In the afternoon there used to be great gusts of wind that at moments became unbearable, to the point of drying the long hair of the horsemen and splitting their lips until they dried and salted their mouths.
Perhaps this was the most observed group, as the birds played races against the horses, as maybe the marine fauna did from the sea.
Fortunately none of the two groups of horsemen mentioned had news of their enemies, although the most exposed to this appearance was Youth´s group, made by Abed, whom the demons could track and control through the spells that the wizard Suleiman made with his cards.
Precisely, Youth´s group, made up of fewer members, eight in total, left traces through the western region where the landscapes were delimited by mountains, which from time to time allowed a valley to lie down at their feet; and every certain amount of hours some extensive and wide field appeared, extending for hundreds of miles, making its way through the hills.
At that moment the group recovered and even gained the time that was lost to travel the gravel roads, sometimes uphill, sometimes downhill, which were around the mountains of high peaks and stony valleys.
It was mid autumn, so the weather was somewhat damp, although from time to time there was a dry day or directly a rainy day.
It was precisely the quick end of that season that hurried that group of horsemen, to the point of just resting a few hours per day or night, because the winter was falling and with it the snow that would delay the trip until it became exhausting.
Perhaps for this reason the members of that group practically did not speak, given the urgency of their commitment.
Once a night of cool breeze arrived, in which the moon and the stars played cheerful intimidating the clouds, the group led by Youth —although they shared decisions among all— was forced to slow down after taking a path that had meadows like sleeves.
Aligned in the first row, Youth, Light and Peace galloped meekly; Love, Compassion and Abed were behind them, and Hope was closing the group, followed by Eyes of Heaven, whom she had known for a long time, to visit that the library of the town of Chacra. The library was then administered precisely by Hope and her people, but no one —neither Hope nor Eyes of Heaven— knew at that time who was who; for if it had not been for their celestial brothers and sisters, they would never have been recognised, given their new physiognomies adopted since their arrival on Earth. Since then, knowing who they were, they had been searching for intimate dialogue for days, separating themselves from the rest as necessary, but without getting lost.
It was on one of those occasions that Eyes of Heaven, taking advantage of being the last of the group, when passing near the foot of a hill of grass, took from that place, even without getting off his horse, one of the many beautiful flowers that grew there fighting the autumn, and slowly, almost tiredly, he placed himself beside Hope, while he extended his arm so that the young woman inhaled the perfume of the flower, and after doing so, Hope smiled, taking it and saying:
—Only an angel with the skin of a man could surprise a lady of his class like that.
—I suppose that I had been more a man than an angel since a few years...
—Why did you say that? Have you already fallen into carnal desires? — Hope asked, laughing with complicity and moving her horse a couple of meters away from Eyes of Heaven.
—I was only hurt by a woman, by a supposed librarian who consumes me just by thinking about her.
—If you abandoned your heart as an adventurer, maybe that supposed librarian could heal your wound... —Hope answered, getting closer to the rest of the group than to Eyes of Heaven, who thoughtfully rode watching maybe how the moon and the stars played, or maybe asking to all of them what to do, if that answer really hid a possibility as he believed, of being appropriated for Hope.
Nights later, the same group took a longer break than usual, tired of so much travel, to such point of their eyes to close.
It was at the end of the day where the night was cold, but the stars were still answering, along with a full moon that illuminated with its closest face the road of those horsemen, who slowly climbed a gravel road surrounding a narrow valley.
It was precisely at its peak where they decided to camp taking advantage of a series of cliffs.
Peace, Love and Compassion threw some blankets on the plain of the cliffs, and using their rucksacks as a pillow they immediately lay down.
Youth, however, sat against a wall of the cliff, and from her rucksack she took out a sandwich that she finished in less than a minute, so she did not hesitate to eat another, while observing Peace, Love and Compassion that were sleeping peacefully, she said as if they could answer her:
—How can you go to sleep without eating! —At the time she took her wineskin from her rucksack, from which she drank watching the sky finally, perhaps after a long time.
Abed made a bunch of branches but was interrupted when she was about to light the fire.
—Do not do that. You would call the attention of the enemy —Light said from behind, standing at the edge of the cliff from where she watched the sleep of a distant village, as their lights were observed far below and at the distance from the valley, using her developed auditory sense to replace her eyes.
—Rest a little, friend, it will be good for you. Winter is coming and it will be long —Eyes of Heaven said who, passing behind Abed, clapped his shoulder and then continued walking towards where the path twisted. There, sitting on a rock, almost on the edge of the valley as if it were a balcony, Hope was looking at the stars, although it was not known if the stars were those that crowned the sky and the moon, or if her own eyes illuminated everything as stars.
Eyes of Heaven approached a little more and still with her back towards him, Hope said:
—You should be resting.
—How did you know it was me? —Eyes of Heaven asked, sitting on another rock in front of her.
—Even in the distance I could recognise an angel with the skin of a man — She said smiling, staring at each other...
God, what would I have said
they were sitting there face to face
the casual witness moon
Eyes of Heaven took her hands
Hope laughed shy
hidden language that only two lovers understood.
He was lost in the burning centre of the stars
which were her green eyes
She walked once more through the sky
Which were his blue eyes
Urgent, they searched for their lips
those of Hope retreated
as if playing, maybe as two cats
Hope turned off her stars
Eyes of Heaven approached his face to hers
her lips satiated their thirst
for under autumn stars they kissed.
Their souls filled
two united hearts
waiting for the cold.
As close to that scene of love, Youth fell into the deepest of dreams so much that it took her to the heavens and there, in the Celestial Kingdom, her home, more precisely in the hall where all her people gathered to listen to God her father, her dream developed...
Youth dreamed that she had came to that place covered with her angelic aureole as a guardian angel on Earth, and that she stood in front of the altar of that room without any another company than God her father who, represented by the bright light that came from above the altar, told her:
—Hello my beloved and mischievous daughter —Youth, in her dream was surprised. She knew that God followed all their steps and acts with attention—. You must pay me a lot of attention —Youth expressed seriousness in her face:—. Soon there will be new dangers, but even so you will reach the cloudy forests that border on the Ghost Port. There you will have to approach the coast, and in the water, in the sea, you will find light ... Now go back to your brothers and sisters, my adorable creature and do not fear, that I, your Father, will be close to all of you... —Youth only limited herself to affirm these words of God smiling, and covered once again with her angelic aureole, as her dream developed, she returned to Earth.
Then the girl woke up suddenly and found that everyone had already got up early and were preparing to continue their journey, including Hope and Eyes of Heaven, who, while looking at each other anxiously, tried to hide their romance from the rest of the group, who soon continued their journey, as soon as the light of dawn.
Chapter X
Fearful demons
For days, those horsemen who were neutral angels led by Kindness in the company of Experience, had stopped travelling the roads that bordered on the coasts of the East region, turning towards the West, to arrive at a place that only Experience apparently knew...
