She said that shit like we had been laughing, watching movies and cuddled up all night. All she did was suck my dick.

She leaned in and tried to kiss me and I politely moved my head to the side, allowing her to kiss me on the neck instead. I was also busy look straight ahead admiring my view.

“Earth to fucking Jaxsyn.” Londyn snapped her finger in my face. She then began to wave her hand from side to side in order to get my attention.

“Did you hear anything that I just said?” she asked, squinting her eyes at me. She then put two and two together, looked over her shoulder and mugged once she saw what had captured my attention.

Here she go, I thought as I watched her eyes narrow, her lip twitch and her face turn into a frown. I knew she was about to cut the fuck up.

“So, you’re just going to stare at another bitch while I’m standing right here? You’re so fuckin’ triflin’ Jaxsyn!”

Chuckling in her face, I ran my hand down my face then I just looked at her stupid. I was trying to remain calm because if I clicked, that wasn’t the person she wanted to see.

“Look Londyn, chill the fuck out. Matter fact, get in your car and get gone.”

“Fuck you Jax. You’re a fucking lame ass nigga anyway. I don’t even know why I fuck with your ass,” she screamed. Her statement caused me to burst out laughing because she had to be talking about the other niggas that she was fucking with.

“I told you to chill the fuck out.” I grabbed her by her shoulders and began to shake her ass.

I was shaking her ass so hard that her eyes were rolling to the back of her head.

“Now take your ass home,” I roared as I stepped back and waited to see what she was going to do.

Londyn looked up at me with fright, but I didn’t care. I was tired of letting her ass make it.

Tilting my head to the side, I waited for her to say anything. Even a whisper this time, but she didn’t. Instead, she curled her lip up at me, pushed past me and got in her car and left!

Frustrated, I blew out and looked around to see if the neighbors were out looking like always but to my surprise, the only person that was staring dead at me was Kaizlyn.

“The fuck you looking at?” I mugged her as I went back in the house, pissed off.

What the fuck, I thought as I watched the rude ass next door neighbor go back inside of his home. It wasn’t my fucking fault that he was outside putting on a show for the world to see. Hell, he was checking the wrong person.

“You ready my love?” My grandma came outside as I leaned up against the side of her car.

  “Yeah, I’m ready,” I responded.

She then walked over to the driver’s side and stuck her key in the door so she could get in. Once she sat down, she adjusted herself as I stood waiting for her to unlock my door so I could get in out of the cold weather.

“Oh, I’m sorry sweetie.” She carelessly laughed as she finally unlocked the door and I got in.

My grandma Daisey then stuck the keys in her ignition but to our surprise, it wouldn’t start. All we could hear was humming as she continued to try.

“What the hell.” She kept on trying until she finally had enough and stopped. She then got out of the car and went around to the hood.

“Push that button over there for me baby.” She pointed and I reached over and pressed the button to pop the hood. I then got out so that I could help her lift the hood up because I knew at her age it would have been difficult.

We both stood there staring down at all of the foreign parts, trying to figure out the problem. But truthfully, I knew I didn’t have a clue as to what I was looking at and by the way my grandma rubbed the side of her forehead and squinted her eyes, neither did she.

Sighing, my grandma turned around right as Mr. Asshole walked outside still wearing a mug on his face.

“Hey baby, can you help me?” My grandma waved his way and the mug that he had was turned into a faint smile.

“Yes ma’am. What’s up?” he asked, having manners but still showing his hood side as he walked across the grass and over to the car.

As I watched him, I thought about the first time I met him. He wasn’t such a damn rude ass, but I could see now that maybe that was just a front he put on when he was in front of my grandma because right now, he was sweet as pie as he effortlessly helped my grandma.

He was currently looking underneath her hood, tapping and touching on a few things.

“It looks like you need a new battery. I can give you a jump but you’ll need to go straight to AutoZone and buy a new battery,” he explained.

“Ugh,” my grandma sighed as she ran her hands through her long, pretty grey hair. She wobbled her short self around to the driver’s side of the door, dug in her little pink purse and pulled out her phone.

“You’ll be late if I do that Kaizlyn,” she said more to herself as she looked down at the time, pondering on what she wanted to do.

“She can ride with us,” Keisha beamed as she walked up.

  “Huh?” I paused. “I think I’m good.”

“Why, girl we are going to the same place. My brother doesn’t bite.” She chuckled then looked at her brother.

“Can she ride?” she asked him.

He stood there with a blank expression as I tried to read him. He stood there quiet for a moment and then he finally spoke, “Yeah, ion care.”

“See, girl I told you. Come on.” She wrapped her arm around my shoulder and we began to walk towards her brother’s silver Buick.

Looking back over my shoulder, my grandma looked at me, gave me the thumbs up while having the biggest smile on her face. Knowing her, she was probably just happy to see that I had a friend or should I say, someone that was willing to be my friend.

I shot her a smile right back as her and Jaxsyn continued talking and meddling with something under her car.

While they chatted with each other, me and Keisha entered the car, and she instantly began to talk.

“We should so hang sometime. Like for real, for real,” she suggested as she texted on her phone.

Her fingers were going a hundred miles per minute and it made me miss having a phone. After a month of being in the group home, I lost my phone. There wasn’t a way for me to pay the bill so there was no reason for me to have one. Also, the frustration of everything caused me to throw it against the wall and shatter the screen.

Sighing, I looked up at her and replied, “Ok, that’s cool.” I shrugged my shoulders.

I didn’t really see any harm in us hanging out. It might be a good thing and plus, she stayed right next door and secretly, her brother was fine.

Damn, did I really just think that shit? Shaking my head at myself, I focused back on Keisha.

  “Yay,” she clapped and cheered.

“You wanna go to a party with me tomorrow? If not, I understand.” She finally took her eyes off her cell phone and was now turned around in her seat looking back at me.

“Uhmm, I guess. Whose party is it?” I asked, concerned. I knew who she dated and I didn’t want to have no parts when it came to hanging around them.

“It’s uhmm…” We will talk about it when we get to school; my brother is coming.

Keisha stopped her conversation right as Jaxsyn walked to the car.

“What’s your number, so we can text?” she asked me, but I was kind of embarrassed to admit that I didn’t have a phone, especially at the age that I was.

Like, what teenager didn’t have a phone? This shit was so not me and I hated that my mother got taken from me. I hated having to go without shit and it only made me miss her even more because nobody was going to take care of me how she did.

“Are you ok? Did I say something wrong?” Keisha looked at me in confusion, right as her brother got in the car.

“Everything good in here?” he looked at her then back at me.

Feeling a tear fall, I closed my eyes tightly then opened them back up to see that Jaxsyn was still staring at me. “You sure you good shorty?

I quickly wiped away the tears that had escaped and shook my head yes. I didn’t want to speak because I felt like my voice might crack.

Jaxsyn didn’t buy my lie. He continued to stare at me from side to side as if he was trying to read me. It was like he was trying to search into my soul to see if he could pull out what was bothering me. No words were spoken and neither one of us broke eye contact.

“Ugh. Ok,” Keisha chimed which caused us to finally break the stare down that me and him had on going on.

“You sure?” Jaxsyn’s right eyebrow rose as he asked again.

“Yeah.” I smiled and he gave me one last glare before he turned around and started the car, causing the car to fall awkwardly silent.

As Jaxsyn cruised smoothly through early morning traffic, I looked out the window as the music that played through his speakers caused my body to vibrate to the beat of the music involuntarily. The thoughts of how easily I became weak when the memories of my mother invaded my mind caused me to feel sad. My eyes even watered as I continued to weep over her, except unlike moments ago when all eyes were on me, this time I could cry in secret because no one was paying attention to me.

Finally pulling up to the school, I quickly wiped my face before we came to a complete stop.

“Thank you brother, see you this afternoon.” Keisha got out of the car cheerfully.

“No problem.” He bowed his head.

“Thank you,” I mumbled lowly before I got out the car.

“It’s cool.” He winked and that shit melted my fucking soul.

“Girl, come on.” Keisha flung the door open and I got out the car, feeling a little embarrassed.

“Aye yo Keisha, don’t forget your punishment starts next week,” her brother Jaxsyn reminded her and she huffed, rolled her eyes and waved him off.

I didn’t want to admit it, but I thought I was crushing on Jaxsyn which meant I needed to stay far away from his ass. I knew love caused you to become attached and I didn’t want to be attached to anyone at this moment. I was too scared that I would lose them or something.

As I walked down the hallway with Keisha, she stopped, looked at me, and had the biggest smile on her face.

Stopping, I turned to look at her. “What?”

“Girl, I think my brother likes you.” She paused and placed her finger to her chin as if she was thinking. “And I think you like him too.”

“Wait… wait. Me?” I laughed her off.

“Yeah you bitch, but I got you. I’m going to hook y’all up.” She popped her lips then walked off.

I laughed out loud at her but on the inside, I was nervous as fuck.

“No. Don’t do that. I do not like your brother.” I ran up behind her but she wasn’t worried about what I was talking about.

“Yeah, whatever.” She waved me off.

She was now walking with her head down as she texted away on her phone.

“There he go.” She stopped, ran her hands through her hair and licked her lips.

Following her gaze, I saw that she was talking about her boyfriend and there right beside him was his homeboy Sims. They both looked like they had lost their best friend.

“Well, I’m going to go this way,” I told her as I pointed over my shoulder. I was on my way in the opposite direction because the last thing I wanted to do was walk by Sims.

“Girl come on. Sims is not gon’ mess with you, especially when I tell him you off limits.” She smirked, grabbed my hand and forcefully pulled me into the direction where the boys stood.

“Hey babe.” Keisha walked over to Whoodie, tried to wrap her arms around him and he pushed her back.

“What the fuck is your issue?” She stumbled back.

“I’m not in the mood for that type of shit right now.” He frowned at her.

Oh, hell nah, I thought as I walked over to Keisha, placed my hand on her shoulder and checked on her. “You good?”

“Yeah, I’m good. Fuck that nigga,” she angrily said before she turned to walk off with me right be her side.

“Nah, fuck you hoe,” he yelled out so loud that kids around us even heard.

He now had all eyes on Keisha as we walked off, ignoring his disrespectful ass.

Once we were fully out of his view, I pulled her to the side. “Keisha you need to leave his ass the fuck alone. He don’t love you. Especially if he is treating you like that.”

“I know.” She looked up to the ceiling as her eyes began to swell up with tears that were going to release the moment she blinked.

“Well, find you somebody better than him and then have your brother stomp a mudhole in his ass.” I chuckled as I wrapped my arms around her and gave her a well-deserved hug.

“See, yeah we are going to be really good friends.” She sniffled, wiped her tears away then laughed.

“Yeah we are. Now let’s go fix your makeup.” I smiled back, pulling her into the girl’s bathroom so that she could clean her face and hold her head up high in his fuck ass face.

Even though I put on a brave face in front of Kaizlyn, I was really fucked up on the inside. Whoodie was acting like a bitch and I didn’t have the slightest clue as to why. As far as I knew, I hadn’t done nothing to him. So, for him to treat me how he was, was wrong as fuck on his end.

Sighing, I looked down at me and his text message thread and debated on if I should text him. A big part of me told me to just leave him alone, but there was a part of me that found a thrill out of playing with fire. I knew that I was steady sticking my hand inside of a hot ass oven with the chances that one day I would get burned.

Don’t do it, I convinced myself. I locked my phone and put it away. I looked forwarded and focused on the lesson that my teacher was giving.

“Ugh, where is my brother?” I wrapped my arms around myself as I stood outside looking for his car.

“Yes, where is he?” Kaizlyn agreed as we moved back and forth, trying to stay warm.

“He should be pulling up or maybe I’m just out here early.” I looked out at the long line of cars.

“Well let’s just go sit over there while we wait.” Kaizlyn pointed to a bench that was a few steps away.

We both agreed then took off running to the bench, sat down and snuggled up next to each other in order to stay warm.

“So, about this party?” Kaizlyn looked at me.

Sighing, I looked down at the ground. “Fuck that party. It was Whoodie’s cousin’s party.” I frowned.

Kaizlyn didn’t say nothing at first, instead she looked at me in shock. I knew that she didn’t too much care for Whoodie and his crowd, so I wasn’t going to tell her whose party it was for until we were there, but now there was no point in me going.

Whoodie wasn’t talking to me and I just didn’t want to pop up there and have him embarrass me like he had done earlier today.

“Maybe you should go. Ya know, just to rub your good looks in that nigga’s face and hopefully you can snag you a new boo,” she joked as she nudged me and playfully flipped my hair.

“I don’t know. See Whoodie is crazy, and I don’t have time for that shit. And it’s best that I stay away from him,” I confessed. It was numerous reasons why I wanted to stay away from him, one being that he had a crazy side. Another reason being was that in front of him, I might crumple. I might not be able to stand strong and not easily fall right back into his arms if he asked me to.

“Girl please, fuck him. I’ll be with you and plus, look at who your brother is?” Kaizlyn added.

“Alright. I first have to get something really cute to wear.”

“I’ll just wear what I have already,” Kaizlyn spoke lowly as if she was shamed of having to say that.

“Kaizlyn…” I tapped her. “You ok?”

I listened as she took a deep breath then turned back towards me. “Keisha my life right now is…is just not the life I’m used to. Before I moved here I was in a group home because my mother was killed. I don’t even know my grandma like that and I know that she doesn’t have the money to buy me new outfits just because.” Her voice trembled as she told me about her past.

“It’s ok. I got you. Well, my brother got us,” I chimed in, giving her a big hug.

I remembered her telling me that her mother was killed, but she hadn’t gone into such detail about it. I hated to hear that and my heart broke for her because even though my mother wasn’t dead, she might as well should have been. She hadn’t tried to stop by, call or even write a letter. She just said fuck us all because of a man that couldn’t stop putting his hands on all of us.

“There your brother go,” Kaizlyn announced.

With a fake smile on my face, I hid the fact that I was headed down a road full of bad memories.

We both stood to our feet and because my brother’s friend Ace was in the front seat, me and Kaizlyn got in the back.

“What’s up y’all?” Ace looked over his shoulder and flashed us his all-white smile.

Never had I ever took the time to admire how fine he really was. Ace had always been my brother’s friend which meant off limits and plus, most of the time he would joke with me as being his lil’ sister because he had been around my brother since they were younger.

  “Hey,” Kaizlyn waved shyly.

“What’s good Acey.” I mushed the back of his head playfully.

“Aye yo, watch yoself.” Ace leaned forward and ran both of his hands over the top of his head to smooth out his deep waves.

“Damn, it’s like that?” I smirked.

“Yeah, especially when you touching a nigga hair.” He glared back at me.

“Whatever. What up bro.” I nudged my brother who was acting like he was too cool. Especially when he answered me with a simple head nod.

  “I’m cool.”

“Say hey to my brother, Kaizlyn.” I pinched her on the leg.

Laughing at her panic expression, she slanted her eyes towards me.

  “Say hey,” I mouthed.

Rolling her eyes, she looked forward then mumbled, “Hey Jaxsyn.”
