“I’m so proud of you, Heather. Please tell me, are you considering dating someone now that you have time,” Mom says, grinning.

Oh no, she’s going to start in on this again, and I can’t talk tonight. I can’t date another man, because I can’t trust men, nor can I waste my time on love.

Men just are not built the same way as we are; that’s a fact. I can’t live in a dream world, like some sort of fairytale where my prince charming is committed to giving me a happily ever after.

Yeah, right. I thought I had my prince, then he disappeared. That’s what hurts the most that he didn’t say a word.

“Mom, I’m extremely busy at the firm: therefore, I don’t have time to date. You know that I get home late, so for now, it’s not going to happen,” I say, eating another grape.

“Honey, I am a firm believer that you need to allow time for fun, for love around your busy schedule. I wouldn’t want you to someday wake up in the morning, sad and alone. Maybe you should contact that sweet boy that you loved so much,” Mom says, glancing at me with the same golden eyes as mine, then she walks to get the tea kettle.

“No worries, I’m good,” I say, closing my eyes as the memories of what might have been wash over me like a tsunami.

Mom fills the tea kettle with water and then looks at me shaking her head.

“Sometimes, it’s a good idea to talk to the person that you feel did you wrong, to learn their side of the story. It could be a simple misunderstanding,” Mom says, setting the kettle on the stove and flicking the burner on.

I look at the flame, thinking about what she said.

Is there something that I’m missing?

  Maybe it’s not him?

Could I have done something to push him away?

  I don’t think so.

I take down my messy bun pushing my hair out of my face; I redo it sighing. I reach up to grab the silver heart hanging from my neck on a silver chain. I love this heart because he gave it to me. The image of that day passes through my mind.

“Baby, I love you, happy birthday,” Creed says, gazing at me with his beautiful heated green eyes. He smiles, pulling out a small gift from the inside pocket of his black leather jacket.

I look up at him, moving my hand away from his arm to take the small box. I gasp, my sparkling eyes widen, smiling as I pull away to open the gift. My heart is pounding with excitement.

“Oh my god Creed,” I say, tearing up the silver mauve paper that has a darker mauve ribbon. I open the small box, inside on the black velvet cushion is a silver puffed heart with a silver chain. I touch the beautiful silver heart charm engraved with decorative scrolls.

“Baby, I’m giving you my heart, my soul, and my love for you to hold near your heart,” Creed says softly in his baritone voice. His hands rest on my hips; he pulls me closer, kissing me.

I pull away, gazing up at him, I blink quickly to stop the tears from falling, inhaling quickly I shudder, my throat full of emotion. I smile up at him, whispering softly.

“Oh god, this is so beautiful, and know that I’ll cherish it always, knowing that I have your heart, your soul, and love close to my heart,” I say, holding the box.

Creed grins and takes the box from me. He pulls out the heart and holds it out, opening the clasp.

“Baby, let me put this on you,” Creed says, looking at me. He winks and nods for me to get closer.

“Yes, please put it on me, thank you,” I say breathlessly.

Creed moves his hands to drape the chain around my neck. He leans down, taking my mouth in a soft kiss that turns into a heated, demanding kiss.

I don’t know if I should look him up. I need to think about it. I look at my mom, grabbing some cups from the cabinet.

“Honey, would you like some tea?” Mom asks, peering over her eyeglasses.

I turn to look at her, nodding I take a seat at the table.

“Yes, Mom, that would be lovely,” I say, smiling at her.

  Three

  Creed

Fuck! I don’t even have a clue who this is. I don’t recall her name; I don’t know her, but obviously, she knows me. Right, I mean, why would she do this if she doesn’t know me?

I glare at Seth as he walks away, frowning and shaking my head, throwing it back in frustration. My head is pounding, and I rub my neck, closing my eyes.

Church, means the club’s meeting that only the Hades Knights brothers can attend. No, this is no fucking religious affair, this is our coming together of minds, unity, and plotting, so we attend church, rain, or shine.

I walk over to the chapel holding onto the envelope; I glare at Nicolas, our enforcer. He’s always so damn cheerful.

“Hey Creed,” Nicolas says, taking my cell. He collects all the cells from the Knights before church.

“Nicolas, your fucking grin is giving me a headache,” I grumble, walking over to take my seat.

Nicolas chuckles, shaking his head as he takes the cell from Hunter, who follows me in. Hunter takes his seat at the end of the table. I fall into my chair, next to Seth. I cross my arms, crack my neck closing my eyes.

My head is pounding with all of the images of the girls that I fucked. Damn it! I don’t know their names. I don’t even know Sherbet’s name, and I fucked her last night. This is surreal!

The Knights start coming into the chapel, to attend church.

I’m the VP, which is pretty awesome. I’m proud to be the Hades Knights MC VP because it’s in my blood. You see, my grandpa founded Hades Knights MC, the original mother chapter, and now we have chapters throughout the entire state. That means a lot because California is enormous.

My Father, Joseph Ward, was the Prez until two years ago. The run went bad, the new associate shot him, taking the money and drugs. We still haven’t found that motherfucker who shot him. Now my Father is in a wheelchair at home.

Nicolas closes the door, places the basket full of cells on the table.

“Hades Knights are in the house,” Nicolas yells, smirking. He then walks over to take his seat.

“Church has started; we have several matters to discuss,” Seth says, slamming the gravel on the table, looking around.

“I would like to bring up the matter of the debt owed by the prominent Mayor Ryan Baker of Sacramento. He’s into us for one million in gambling and other services,” Hunter says, smirking.

“What the fuck! How did we allow his tab to get this high? I know that we’re going after him,” Heath says, our treasurer, taking notes.

“Damn right, we are. Let’s vote on it. Nay or yay,” Seth says, slapping the table with his hand. He looks around the room.

“Yay,” the brothers, Seth, Nicolas, Dante, Rocco, Hunter, Heath, Ryker, Carter, Chad, Wyatt, Brice, Axle, and Colton shout in agreement.

“Great, I’ll go pay a visit to our esteemed Mayor. Dante and Nicolas will do the run with me,” Seth says, looking at Nicolas and Dante.

“Right,” Dante says, nodding his head.

“Ready,” Nicolas says, leaning back into his chair.

“Heath, give us an update on our profitable investments,” Seth says, looking at Heath intently. Seth then looks at the reports on the tablet.

“Yeah, the new business ventures are a success. The Hades After Dark cage fighting is popular, Eros Hotel, the Knights repair shop, and salvage yard are lucrative investments. The Styx club and Hade's dry-cleaning are doing great. The weed is extremely lucrative since it became legal, the ecstasy and ammo are also good. We have a huge return on our investments at the end of this quarter,” Heath says, looking around the table.

“Your share on the returns of investments will be deposited into your respective accounts. Soon we will be working exclusively with legit business,” Seth says, grinning.

“I need the brothers to approve the Hades Knights’ attorneys to assist Creed with the upcoming Paternity case.

“What the fuck! When did this happen?” Ryker asks, scratching his head. He’s the MC’s Lieutenant.

“Yeah, Creed was served with a Paternity case this morning,” Wyatt says, stroking his beard.

“I saw it on the monitors as it went down, that nerdy process server almost pissed himself,” Rocco says, grinning. He’s our IT guru, the best, he’s in his own fucking world taking care of the security and all the IT needs for the MC.

“Bros, I’m sorry to use the MC’s attorneys on this,” I say, clenching my fists.

“I don’t see a problem because we’re all in helping the brothers. We’re family,” Axle says, looking around at the brothers.

“Let’s vote,” Seth says, looking at the Knights.

“Yay,” the brothers shout in unison.

“Creed, Brice, and Axle update on the gun run. Do you have the new inventory updated on the arsenal of weapons in storage? I have another order for the potent artillery,” Seth says, looking at me.

“Yeah, we have the inventory done. We can do the run this week, just give us the coordinates,” I say, crossing my arms over my broad chest.

“Ok, will do,” Brice says, tapping his fingers on the table. My bro Brice appears a little anxious, and I wonder why?

“Yeah, all good,” Axle says, scrubbing his face.

“Fantastic! Do we have any intel on the San Francisco Capo, Torres?” Seth asks, looking around the room.

“No, my spy at Beck’s Nyx club haven’t seen him or heard anything on Torres. It appears that Torres is not in a hurry in associating with Beck since the collateral, the investment, is not there,” Nicolas says, nodding. He cracks his neck, scolding at the thought of Beck.

My brother Nicolas has Beck’s investment, yup, his daughter is now Nicolas’ old lady.

“Ok, Preston the Prez from our Hades Knights charter down south is monitoring the Dark Fallen Angels MC and Torres. It’s been all quiet on that front, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not a threat. They want our territory; therefore, we’re at war. We can’t tolerate their blatant disrespect,” Seth says, pulling his beard looking around at the brothers seated around the table.

“What about the bike gang, is Scooby-Doo working for Torres? We could get intel from them; I’m sure we can make them sing,” I say, tapping my fingers on the table.

I focus on the big Hades Knights carved wooden logo on the wall, thinking about the Paternity case. I can’t get it out of my mind.

This Paternity case is fanfuckingtastic! I’m going to go crazy not knowing who this bitch is.

  My kid?

  Really?

  Why didn’t she tell me?

No, this has to be a ruse.

  I’m always careful.

  Damn it!

“I like that idea,” Nicolas says, grinning.

“Right, let’s get us some Scooby-Doo,” I say, cracking my knuckles.

“Axle, Ryker, Hunter, and Chad make the run to grab the Scoobies,” Seth says, laughing throws his head back.

The brothers chuckle at the nickname that Seth bestowed upon the Scooby-Doo gang.

“Let’s do it,” Axle says, laughing.

“Sounds good,” Hunter says, leaning back into his chair.

“Yeah, I’m ready,” Ryker says, leaning forward, propping his elbows on the table.

“Right,” Chad says, compressing his lips tightly, nodding. Chad is the club’s Tail Gunner.

“Wyatt, Brice, Colton, and Heath take care of Styx this week. Keep an eye on the strippers doing the patrons,” Seth says, looking at the brothers.

“On it,” Heath says, rocking back in his chair.

“Will do,” Brice says, crossing his arms.

“Yeah, on it,” Wyatt says, rubbing his neck.

“Ok,” Colton says, drumming his fingers on the table.

“Carter, I would like you to go with Creed to see the attorneys,” Seth says, stone-faced.

“No problem,” Carter says, looking at me. I nod, glad to have my brother along. Carter is the Knight’s Road Captain.

“Any other pressing matters to review?” Seth asks, looking at the brothers.

  “No, nah,” my brothers say.

“Fantastic, we’ll have church tomorrow at nine in the morning,” Seth says, pounding the gavel.

Yeah, the brothers and I go a little crazy after church. We do our ritual, our dogma, before we leave the chapel. We start to pound our hands on the table, yelling.

“Hades Knights brotherhood! Honor, duty, respect, and fidelity! One for all and all for one!”

I walk over to grab my cell and then stride out of the chapel, walking over to the bar.

“Creed, give me a couple of minutes to make the appointment at the attorney’s office, and I need to get something from my room,” Carter says, behind me.

“Ok, I’m having a beer,” I say, turning I nod at Carter. Then I take a few steps to the bar, and I slide onto the barstool, looking at Son

“Son, get me a beer,” I ask him, crossing my arms.

Son walks away, and in a couple of seconds, sets the beer on the bar countertop.

“Creed, here’s your beer. Would you like some tequila or something a little stronger?” Son asks, wiping down the counter.

“No, thanks,” I say, taking a long pull. I set the beer on the countertop. I run my hands through my short hair, closing my eyes. I start thinking of all of the bitches that I fucked.

Damn it. I know that it can’t be one of those bitches. Then the image of a dark-haired girl from years ago passes through my mind. The girl from my past, the only one that owned my soul, stole my heart and made me weak. Her huge golden eyes stare at me; her image causes a tightness in my chest.

Fuck that! I can’t allow her in; I can’t let her a second in my mind. I open my eyes, and I stare out the open door.

I know it’s not her because she would have told me. Damn, it’s taken me a long time to forget her. Yeah, it’s not her.

I was going to Sac State when I met her in my third year in school. She stole my heart.

She was beautiful, smart, and so sweet. She was focused, and she worked hard to get into UC Davis.

She’s way out of my league now, fuck, she was out of my league back when she was mine.

We spent every day together, and I thought that I knew her, that she felt the same, but apparently, I didn’t know a damn thing. She’s a fucking skank!

She broke my heart when I saw her with that rich motherfucker. She could have told me to fuck off, to break it off, but no, I found her in his arms.

That’s when I stopped seeing her, I stopped going to college, and I didn’t answer her calls. That’s when I decided to prospect for the club. Yeah, I disappeared like a ghost.

I kept busy with the Knights doing runs and taking care of business. It was only a year of prospecting because I managed to pull off the particular run that allowed the Hades Knights MC’s to rule the NorCal territory.

It wasn’t easy, but I did it, I positioned the Knights into being the primary weed and ecstasy supplier.

Carter walks up to the bar, slaps his hand on my back.

“We have an appointment at the law firm. Ready? Let’s go, ” Carter says, taking the rest of my beer.

“Yeah, let’s do this,” I say, sliding off the stool.

  Four

  Heather

I pull into the parking spot in my white Honda Accord, moving the shift knob to put the car in park.

I hold onto the steering wheel with both hands, leaning into it, looking up at the dark clouds through the windshield. My wipers race across the windshield, going at full speed, clearing the rain. I grip the steering wheel hard, gazing at the shower, descending into a trance.

The rain triggers a memory that always surfaces when the rain pours down powerfully. I close my eyes, moaning, the memory replay in my mind.

“Are you cold,” Creed asks, whispering as he moves his lips down my throat, leaving a burning trail. He pushes my skirt up and tears off my panties.

“Oh, god, No. Everywhere that you touch and kiss blazes, it becomes the sweetest burn,” I whisper, running my hands up Creed’s smooth back under his shirt. I shift against him on the seat of his bike.

Creed takes out the condom from his pocket, tears up the foil, and quickly rolls down the condom.

The night is cold, and the dark clouds pass over the moon, enveloping us in dark obscurity, but being in his arms sets me on fire.

The rain starts pouring down on us, and Creed holds me tighter, taking my mouth in a deep hungry kiss. His hands grab my ass, pulling me over his engorged flesh. His lips move across my jaw, sucking and kissing his way to my neck.

“Baby, all I want to do is love you,” Creed says, lifting my hips, impaling his hard flesh inside me.

I gasp, closing my eyes, enjoying the fullness that’s all Creed, stretching my core.

“Yes, that’s so good,” I grab his broad shoulders to shift up and down, riding him.

“That’s it, ride me, baby,” Creed says into my ear, sucking my earlobe. He licks the raindrops, moving slowly down my chest. He pushes my blouse to the side with his teeth. He works his hot lips down to my breast, taking my hard nipple in his mouth, holding my hips gliding me up and down his length.

“Oh yes,” I say, gasping, wrapping my arms around his neck. I move at a deliciously slow pace, enjoying every moment.

“Baby, you’re killing me,” Creed growls, moving his hand down in between us to softly rub my swollen flesh, pushing me over the edge.

I love the feeling when we explode together, merging as one soul, melting together in the rain.

The cell on the passenger seat starts beeping. I blink rapidly, gasping for air.

“Fuck, I’m never going to get rid of his memory! That bastard disappeared; I wish the memory of him did the same.” I growl, clenching my hand. Then I reach for the cell I slide the screen to look at my messages.

Secretary: Ms. Wright, do you need me to reschedule your appointments?

Heather: No, I’m in the parking lot, and I’ll be there in a few.
