Violet's Shadow, page 6
A raven black coat, lean legs and a grey muzzle befitting her station in the pack cleared out any of his reserve of bringing her into the compound. Beautiful didn’t come close to describing how majestic she looked as she faced him from the shadows.
What mesmerized him were her eyes. They didn’t just shimmer from the light in the room, they were damn near luminescent. As if they were lit from the inside.
Her strength maybe?
Her power.
And how did he feel with having to be there to watch her turn? Something he could normally give two shits about? A thing he normally passed off to somebody or anybody else?
Humbled.
It was as if he’d always been connected to her. As if a piece of himself had been missing until the last few weeks. When he’d had eyes on her the first time outside the cabin, he’d known then something tied them together.
With her, he was sure of it.
Being there as he shaded her for the first time, with his cum deep inside her, rocked him to the core. Thankfully she’d been out cold by the time they’d materialized in the compound or she’d have seen the emotion in his eyes.
The fear.
Of failing her.
Of failing the pack.
He’d fought his fate for so long the idea he really couldn’t escape it should have freaked him out. He should be running for the hills.
He inhaled as she roared, catching the mating scent coming off him in waves. Everyone within their section of quarters would smell him on her. Especially now as she shifted amongst the scent. They’d know it was him and she was his. Trying to lie to himself that he didn’t secretly love it would have been pointless.
She yelped as she tried to step out of the shadows. Yanking her paw back she blinked at it and then up at him again. “What happened?”
“It’s all right. You can only shift in the shadows, and for the next day or so you have to stay in them while you’re a wolf. Your body needs time to adjust.”
“Oh.” She looked around, taking in her surroundings. “It’s strange.”
“What is?”
“Feeling like me. But different.”
“Different is an understatement. You’re stronger. Faster. Can heal quicker. Not to mention the link to the rest of the pack. Can you feel them?”
Tilting her head to the side, she closed her eyes in concentration.
“It’s faint. Something’s there, but it sounds like only a murmur.” She faced him again. “Is that normal? Because I can hear you just fine and you’re not even a wolf right now.”
“I’m a bit different for you.” Understatement of the damn year.
“Why?”
Because I’m the luckiest Shadow ever. He kept the last part to himself. “Because I shaded you here. Because we’re already…connected.”
Mated was what he wanted to say. But he shut the thought off so she couldn’t hear it. Feel it. Felt uncomfortable to deny any part of it, but if he didn’t understand it yet, he sure as hell wasn’t going to throw it off on her to deal with. She had enough on her plate.
Her hind end went down first and then her front half.
“What’s happening?” Panic leapt into him and he stepped into the shadows and went down on his knees in front of her.
“It’s fine. I promise. I keep forgetting you don’t know what to expect.” He supported her head as it went limp and placed it on his lap.
She surprised him by licking his arm and nuzzling into his leg.
Concentrating on not getting hard took all his focus and then he saw her shaking and he got worried for the first time. The corners of her lips pulled up, exposing her sharp canines. “Are you laughing at me?”
She continued the wolf equivalent of a smile and nodded even as her eyes closed. “What? Don’t like wolfy sex?”
“Never have before, but I believe you’re a bit different for me. But this is also your first time shifting and your body can’t handle it for long.” He petted her muzzle and her throat and head. The equivalent to a wolfy purr echoed inside the shadows. “And what I have planned for you will definitely take a while.”
Her eyelids flickered open for a few seconds and her need radiated into him.
It should have freaked him out because he’d never felt it before, but it was so hot he couldn’t do anything but revel in it. “Shade back, my fading Violet, and I’ll put you to bed.”
“Promise?” she asked as she began to shimmer.
“Always.”
He blinked and just as fast his hands were on her soft skin and her long, dark hair was draped over his thigh.
“That was…intense.” She twisted a little bit. Testing her muscles and limbs as if to see if everything still moved as she expected it, he guessed.
“How do you feel? Hurt anywhere? Anything feel out of place or off?”
Tentatively she moved, placing her hands on the floor beneath her chest to press herself onto her knees. Looking week as a kitten, she ran her hands along her thighs, stomach, breasts and then down her arms on both sides. “I feel…”
In a flash she pounced, catching him by the shoulders and shoved him onto his back. She landed on top of him, straddling his stomach and pinned him to the floor. “Fucking. Awesome.”
Only reason it happened was because he underestimated her. He grabbed her thigh and twisted her beneath him, filling her in the next few seconds with his cock. Hard because she bested him. Hard since she looked like a goddess with her hair surrounding him and then spread out beneath her. Hard because he wanted her, and by the scent of her pussy, she wanted him just as much.
“Rule number five. Do not underestimate, Violet.”
She grabbed his ass and yanked him forward even faster as he fucked himself into her. “I like that rule.”
“So do I, pretty Shadow. So. Do. I.” He punctuated each word with a thrust and felt her pussy flutter against his cock.
“I just…” Moving inside her, he could feel every inch of her wet sex, as if she were licking each side of his cock simultaneously. “…can’t get close…enough.”
Her eyes flashed up to his and she licked the corner of her mouth. “Sex has never been like this. Not ever. I always thought maybe I was broken.”
She closed her eyes and tilted her head away, still swiveling her hips to find her pleasure.
Not good enough.
Mostly connected didn’t count.
He leaned forward, covering her body with his and licked the bite mark he’d made. The one proclaiming her as his.
She gasped and her entire body shivered.
“You were never broken. Never. Repeat it to me.” He licked her again, making her shake.
“Umm…”
“Nope. That wasn’t how it started.” He palmed her breast, which filled his hand perfectly. Round, perky, soft and tipped with mauve nipples begging for his attention. He licked one of them and pinched it between his thumb and pointer finger until she gasped.
Her nails dug into his ass, and his cock jerked in response. Clenching his teeth down good and tight to keep his cum where he wanted it took more concentration than he’d ever had to give it before.
“Repeat. After. Me.” When he released her nipple, her abdomen contracted and she panted beneath him. “I am not damaged.”
Sucking in a shallow breath she huffed out a breath, then echoed his words. “I am not damaged.”
“Good.” He fucked her slow and then quick until she was on the verge of orgasm and then he backed off again and pinched her other nipple.
She moaned. Sounded half pleasurable and half frustrated.
Hell yeah.
“Again.” He let her nipple go and rubbed it with the rough pad of his thumb.
Her eyelids fluttered and they closed, but this time it was for the right reasons. He whispered into her ear. “I am not damaged. I am a Shadow.” He licked the mating mark and his cock had a mind of its own.
Huffing out a breath, she licked his neck unable to keep her legs and feet still any longer. They rubbed up and down his calves and thighs and she moved her hips in ways they make XXX movies about.
“Not damaged. ‘Cause I’m a Shadow.” She paused. And stilled. And looked up at him. Some emotion twisted her features until he saw tears roll down her cheeks. “I am a Shadow.”
“Good girl.”
Her face transformed when she smiled and then she giggled as she scrambled out from underneath him. He kept his head out of the way to make sure he didn’t get kneed in the face and then collapsed onto his stomach, unsure of what was going on.
“So…” She got to her feet, mischief clear in her smile. “I think I’ve been making this clearly too easy for you.”
Rule number five was very much still in his head so he stood, facing off with her. “And what do you have in mind?”
With her hands on her hips he stared at the expanse of naked flesh he wanted to lick. To bite. To protect. To worship.
The last two really got him so he was caught off guard when she took off yelling, “Catch me if you can!” She bolted around the couch and headed toward the door to the bathroom.
Her fingers slid off the handle as he snatched her up. Squealing and thrashing in his arms, his legs ate up the distance to the bed. He tossed her down onto her back and then flipped her over, yanking her up onto her knees.
He was inside her before she could get away again. “Is this what you wanted, pretty Shadow? To be taken? Controlled?” Grabbing her hips, he shoved inside, fucking her harder than he had up to that point. He’d held back, not knowing how much she wanted rough.
“I want it all, Rayden. All of you. All of—”
His hand coming down on her upturned ass cut off anything else she was going to say.
“Oh, my God.”
“Never been spanked before, oh leader of mine.”
She shook her head. In answer to his question or in response to the orgasm just out of her reach he didn’t know. He spanked her again. And again. Several times on each cheek until it was hot and pink. He grabbed her ass and yanked her onto him as he took her.
“You have the hottest body I’ve ever fucked. I need you to come for me, Violet. Put your fingers on your pretty clit and make yourself come on my cock.”
Her body shifted as she balanced on one hand and slid her fingers through her saturated slit. But she didn’t stop there. Oh no. She couldn’t do what he told her to and leave him some kind of control.
She cut the last thread he possessed when she reached beneath her pussy to fondle his balls. They were sucked up tight to his body. His impending orgasm raced down his spine.
Pulling her up, his cock still buried in her pussy, he hugged her to him and bit the mark on her shoulder as he came.
She cried out as he filled her, her orgasm tightening every muscle in her body. “Rayden.” His name on her lips as her pussy locked down on him stole every thought from his head. Every thought. Save one.
Nubr. Mine.
Her nails dug half-moons into his forearm as she shook against him.
Their bodies secured together made him groan against her shoulder as he licked the mark. Again. And Again. She whimpered and shook as her pussy milked the cum from his balls. Shot after creamy shot filled her body and the mating scent rose between them again.
“I’m going to fall,” she whispered as her body gave the last of everything it had to give.
“Never.” He laid her down on her side and cuddled up behind her, his cock still deep inside her, pulsing every few seconds.
She wrapped his arm around her, kissing his knuckles as she hummed and her entire body relaxed against him. The ring of stronger muscles in her pussy eased, and he was able to pull out of her.
He didn’t really know what to do at that point. Cuddling wasn’t exactly his thing, though the idea of lying with her didn’t really hurt his feelings. Uncertainty pulled at him, but ultimately he didn’t have to make the decision because a knock came at the door.
He was more annoyed than happy, which really surprised him.
“Don’t go,” Violet mumbled, nearly asleep.
“I won’t be far. Just right outside. Holler if you need me.”
“Need you,” she murmured as she rolled onto her stomach.
He pulled the sheet up to cover her naked flesh and caught sight of her still rosy backside. Desire rose, sharp and hard, and he couldn’t resist palming her ass. Still warm.
Her arching closer to his hand nearly undid him. A rumble in his chest turned into a growl as another knock broke the silence.
Violet took a deep breath and snuggled into his pillow.
He got up before he got good and comfortable inside her again. Snagging a pair of his jeans over the end of the couch, he pulled them on and zipped them up, but left the top button undone.
Opening the door, with a fist raised in front of it as if the knocker was about to knock again, he warned, “This had better be good.”
Morrison put his hand back down as Rayden stepped out, leaving the door open a crack. With narrowed eyes, he stared at Morrison for a few heated seconds. Would have gone on a lot longer if Morrison hadn’t bowed his head slightly in a show of respect. Collins and Sofia along with Morrison all moved a couple feet away, which probably had something to do with the amount of mating scent he was emitting.
Talk about a neon sign shining, Fuck Off.
“We’ll make it quick. We know you’re busy. But this couldn’t wait.” Collins unrolled a map he had beneath his arm.
“Mathias?”
“Has to be.” Sofia pointed to a large section of dense forest, which was to their east. “We think he’s going to come in somewhere along here in the next few nights, from what our person inside tells us. Since they can’t shade inside the compound it would make sense them coming where there will be the most shadows and he can move as many people in as quickly as possible.”
Staring at the map, Collins spoke up. “We can’t afford another loss like we faced last time.” He didn’t say any more, but his stare said more than enough. They were severely low on numbers of enforcers after nearly a dozen of them had been taken out during the last attack. They were able to push them back far enough away they weren’t able to ascertain the location of the compound, but it wasn’t looking good.
Morrison nodded. “I can keep it raining for several nights to make it harder on them, but if they get through, that will make it harder on us as well. Doesn’t sound like a great advantage to me, and I can only keep it up for so long.”
“No. We’ll need you at top form in case the worst case scenario happens and we need immediate offensive maneuvering to save the pack.”
Rayden looked at the map again and circled a section with his finger. “Here is one of the densest sections and one of the hardest for us to penetrate unfortunately. If we station enforcers here and here we could—”
“Rayden!”
He shoved the door open and it crashed into the wall. Violet sat straight up in bed, staring into the distance, a pillow clutched to her chest, and her eyes glowing. Shadow eyes didn’t glow unless they were completely in the dark or if the Shadow they belonged to was unique.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, he wanted nothing more than to gather her into his arms to reassure himself she was okay. But he knew he wasn’t supposed to touch her. No one was. Not when some kind of vision had pulled her in.
“A map,” she whispered. “I need a map.”
Rayden looked up at Collins, who handed over the scrolled paper immediately. Spreading the map out in front of her, he waited.
“There are mountains to the north.” She pointed to the map exactly where the mountains were, without even looking. “Several days hence, Mathias and his men will converge there. And then they will make their way here to the compound.”
“How many of the pack will be there?”
Cocking her head to the side, she waited, as if listening, and her shoulders fell. “All of them.” Quiet for another couple seconds. “Every available Shadow, male and female, of fighting age will be there.” She swallowed. “Be here. In the courtyard.”
She sucked in a harsh breath and shook her head rapidly. Blinking away the vision, her eyes dimmed and shifted to their normal violet color. “Dying. So many people dying.”
Rayden gathered her close and wrapped another blanket around her. “Do you see anything else? Any other details which might help us pinpoint the exact location?”
She was freaked out, shaking, but she closed her eyes hopefully to see if she could remember anything else about the impending attack.
Good and pissed was the state of his enforcers behind him. In the compound. Worse case scenario. But they weren’t defenseless. And they had home court advantage on their side. “Anything else?”
Exhaustion pulled at her, and he laid her down. “There’s a huge fork in the path in a section of woods where the mountains meet the forest. They’re going to show up there. That’s where they’re coming from.” Her eyelids closed, her body finally calling it a night after all she’d been through.
Morrison spoke softly. “We’re gonna go inform the others of what’s going to happen and make some changes.” The other three turned to leave, making their way to the door opened wide. “When do you want us to tell everyone you’ll be there?”
He looked down at Violet, shaken, frightened. “Gimme at least a couple hours, and send someone up to watch her while I’m gone. Send Hannah.”
“Uhh…are you sure about her?” Sophia asked.
His raised eyebrow did the trick.
“Yes, sir.” The door closed behind them, and Violet looked up at him. Sleep called to her if her heavy lids was any indication, but apparently she had something to say and she wasn’t going to be deterred.
“What’s happening to me? Nothing like that’s ever happened before. It was like I was dreaming, but I knew I wasn’t. I knew I was awake, but I wasn’t…” She motioned in a circle around them. “…here. I was there. At the pass at the mountain’s edge. Watching all those people get killed and not being able to do anything about it. It was horrible”
“The leader of our pack has almost always been a seer. Shows up early as an adolescent, normally in dreams and then the gift will fully flesh out after they shift for the first time. You’re our seer, Violet. Our Alpha.”
