There was a slight ping, and she pulled on his ear. “Was that necessary?”

“For you, no, for them, yes. They didn’t believe that an omega could be anything other than completely subservient to them, so that is what they have been seeking.”

“Fine, but if they ever visit, I am going to be elsewhere.”

He chuckled. “Fair enough.” He continued licking. “Did you really get peacekeeper training?”

“Yeah, but I went into heat the final week, and that was the end of that.”

He blinked and paused an inch below her navel. “Did someone attack you?”

“No. The way I was trained, if I can’t find a proper partner, I am to defend myself with everything I have. As my brother pointed out, I am a brawler. I took out six other students.”

“Why did you go into heat?”

“They had us on manoeuvres, and one of the other students thought it was funny to tamper with my birth control. I broke her nose first.”

“How many were in the class?”

  “Nine of us.”

  He winced. “When was it?”

“Fourteen years ago. Yes, you can look it up.”

He draped her thighs over his shoulder. “Later, for now, I have to make up for my awkwardness with the conference call.”

She gasped as his tongue slid around her sensitive skin. “Do you think they will actually apply to become escorts?”

“Yeah. I think some will be disappointed when it actually involves escorting.”

She chuckled and moaned, grabbing his ears for a grip. “They will learn.”

He laughed and finished what the slow strokes of his tongue had started.

She sobbed and twisted and shivered in his grip. He held her close and carried her to their room for a change of clothes. Dinner was in a few hours.

Sunath reactivated the camera remotely and watched his friend and his mate. The application for the BDC was already sent. He had been told to do it by a seer a few days ago.

Etgar’s mate trusted him completely, gave herself up body and soul, and the growing bump of their child was very visible while Etgar’s canine-blended head was between her thighs.

The soft sounds of his tongue and her moans were arousing as hell, but all Sunath could think of as he watched the mates tangle was that he wanted his own, and his asinine government had made it nearly impossible.

Breeding for alphas was fine, but without proper partners, they could only create a vague shadow of the relationship that they needed to unlock their full potential. Even Etgar was showing signs of calming and gaining more mental capacity, and he had been a genius to start with. It was why he had found his escort the same time that she went live. When she had taken his knot, he had begun bragging, and when he had ridden her through a heat cycle, his smugness had known no bounds. His businesses had gone from flickering to flourishing, and in the time they went from meeting to now, he had multiplied his family holdings a hundred-fold. He had proven his worth and made her a secure nest, even if she couldn’t see it. Or, Sunath imagined, he had made her a den in his case.

He had found his mate and proven his providing capabilities. Now, in modern parlance, he just had to win her family over. It seemed that he had won over the niece. The brother might be more difficult.

He chuckled and watched the feed until his friend had brought his mate to climax and was holding her close.

Etgar was lucky. His mate wasn’t afraid of sex to start with. Convincing a woman to sleep with an alpha, to begin with, involved initial attraction and a lot of cajoling. Sunath didn’t blame them. If a guy eighteen inches taller and broader than he was started heavily flirting and hinting at sex, he would be nervous.

On the screen, Etgar flipped off the camera and then carried his mate out of the room. Sunath chuckled. If there was anyone who knew his fascination with surveillance, it was Etgar. This was not the first time he had watched them together, but those masks had a blurring effect on the recordings. Sunath played back the way her neck arched, her hair spilled back, the marks around her neck gleamed darkly under her skin. He had been thorough. No one was going to double-tag her. She was thoroughly and one hundred percent Etgar’s.

Sunath saved a few choice shots of the two together and grinned. He looked forward to meeting the little lady in person. If she really did have combat skills, he wanted to see them.

  * * * *

A power nap should not have left her so tired, but she hadn’t counted on Etgar sliding into her again.

  “Why the change of venue?”

He slowly rocked into her. “Sunath is a cybersecurity expert, meaning that there isn’t any when he is around. I am pretty sure that he hacked my office camera and got an eyeful.”

She grimaced and then smiled as she moved back in the same rhythm. No hurry, no rush. No need to cum and leave, just slow and delightful friction.

“So, precious psycho, when do you want to get married?”

“How big does it have to be? I don’t have many people to fill out my side.”

“Why not the next full moon?”

She blinked. “That’s our first date anniversary.”

  He chuckled. “You don’t say.”

He licked at her marks, and she moaned low as her body throbbed around him. “I have been wanting to do that for over five years.”

She shuddered as she rapidly went from enjoying a lazy lovemaking session to wanting a hard, fast fuck. “Mean. I was having fun. It was like being screwed by a hot bubble bath.”

He licked the marks again, and her senses ratcheted higher.

“I am having a dress made for the wedding.”

She snorted. “I will marry you, even if you are wearing the dress.”

He smacked her thigh. “Sassy. The dress is for you, but I don’t want you to see it until the big day.”

  “What? Why?”

“I couldn’t see you for most of our relationship. I think it is nicely symbolic. You are going to have all your fittings wearing a BDC mask.”

  She moaned. “That’s weird.”

He laughed. “I know. Zera is having one specially made for you. It will match your dress.”

She shuddered. “You have given this some thought.”

“I have thought of nothing else since you removed yourself from my life. I planned our wedding, children, where they will go to their active schools if they need special training, which schools offer that.” As he spoke, he moved inside her faster. Harder.

His lips were against her neck when he whispered, “But mostly, I planned to be inside you and waking in your arms.”

She groaned and flexed her back, so his hand cupped her breasts. “And I wondered if you liked to catch a Frisbee in your teeth.”

He growled, bit, thrust, and locked into her. It was hard to cum while laughing, but she gave it her best shot.

Lady Daycross felt the rhythmic vibrations cease, and she nodded to the chef. “Dinner will be served on time. They will either go again now or need a break later. Either way, Vallu has to eat.”

The chef nodded and continued meal prep. There was a smile on his lips.

Lady Daycross sighed. “Is everyone amused by my son suddenly abandoning his focus to dive into her?”

The chef paused. “It is good to see him happy, Lady. Something in him is settling, and he is planning for a future with a family, not just with the business. It is making a few waves, but his staff are delighted for him. It increases our life expectancy as well.”

She twisted her lips. “I do want a grandchild.”

“Miss Vallu is a good woman. A strong woman. She had to be to keep Mr. Etgar’s attention. She is focused on being a strong mother as well. Her requests are simple, and there is no subterfuge. She will probably be much more difficult to deal with after the child is born, so if I were you, Lady, I would get on her good side.”

“How am I supposed to do that?” Lady Daycross growled.

“Put the nursery to one side of the master suite. Invite her preferred artist to paint a matching mural here. Make it the way she wants it and do it soon because if she starts nesting and things are wrong, we are all going to hear about it.”

  “Fine. What else?”

“Set rooms aside for her family. The niece and her brother. And one or two for a visiting friend during evening parties.” He smiled as he chopped fresh herbs. “If she has someone here, it will give her backup so that she doesn’t need to stay near Etgar.”

Lady Daycross blinked. “How did you get so smart?”

“I have sisters, Lady. One just had a baby. I am applying all knowledge.”

“When I see her next, I will ask her to start preparing a guest list for the wedding.”

“So, hours or days. No, her niece is coming tomorrow. Definitely by breakfast tomorrow.” He chuckled.

“She’s already inviting people. Making herself at home.”

Etgar and a strangely luminous Vallu walked in. “I invited Lii. It is to keep Vallu closer to home. The same reason that I will take up horseback riding more regularly. Lii likes it. Vallu isn’t supposed to get that high up, and my psycho squirrel wants to keep contact with her niece.”

Lady Daycross looked at her son’s clear eyes, bright expression, and protective hand on Vallu’s back. They were both wearing robes.

The chef asked, “What can I get for you?”

  “Sports drink. The blue one.”

One of the other staff went to the fridge and got two. One for Vallu and one for Etgar.

Vallu looked at her and said, “Don’t worry. The constant frolicking will wear off, but since he was done work for the day, it seemed like a good time to lance some of the tension.”

Etgar wrapped his arms around the woman and nodded seriously while she drank. “We have lanced it several times. Well, I have.”

Vallu spluttered delicately. “Really, dude? Your mom? You talk like that in front of your mom? If this is a boy, I am going to teach him manners, or at least that his references to sex are always to be phrased in the form of a question.”

“You would actually answer them?” Lady Daycross was surprised.

“Sure. Ignorance just breeds assumptions, and then, next thing you know, your male is trying to do something that a friend mentioned one time.”

  Etgar choked on his drink.

The chef grinned. “Did it work?”

“It did not. Vallu has skills and extra activations that make it difficult to predict how she will respond.”

“I always know how I will respond. Just ask me.” She turned in his arms and booped his nose with a finger. “That is how you will predict it.”

As Lady Daycross watched, the woman who had enraptured her son grabbed his ear and pulled him down, whispering rapidly.

Etgar looked down at her. Licked his lips and picked her up. “We will be on time for dinner... but only just.”

Vallu laughed over his shoulder as they left. “Thanks for the electrolytes and hydration.”

There was silence in the kitchen.

Lady Daycross blinked. “So, what do you think she said to him?”

Chef started to slice some celery. “I think that she mentioned a specific spot that was sensitive, and he is going to check the accuracy of her statement.”

“Am I going to get my boy back?”

Chef chuckled. “I doubt it, but there will be a man you can be proud of. For over five years, he has been planning for her to be here, and now, she is.”

“Wait, so all of the new businesses. The profit...”

“All for her, Lady. All for her.”

The hum of motion started in the walls, and she blushed and walked out to make sure that the plates and cutlery were properly arranged for dinner. If this was the daughter-in-law he had chosen for her, she could make sure that the house was perfect. She might slip up a bit now and then with surrendering to Vallu’s presence, but she was going to try. She was pretty sure that access to her grandchild was at stake.

  Chapter Sixteen

The cocktail dress was soft on the back of her neck, but it also caressed her softly and irritated her marks a little. Dinner had been excellent, and Lady Daycross had been surprised by her table manners.

“So, what did you do before you stopped being an escort?”

“Um, I was an escort, and before that, I worked security, but basically a long line of short jobs that go back to my teen years.”

Lady Daycross smiled gently. “Short attention span?”

“Six-month heats. Every few months, I go into heat for a week, and it means I had to call out sick, eat chocolate, and box until I passed out. I am always still in some kind of probationary period, and no businesses wanted to deal with that kind of an active. Then, my sister-in-law got really sick and needed a caretaker, so I got the job with the BDC and took care of her during treatments. I used the funds I got from... uh... my night job to pay for the bits of care that insurance didn’t cover. Eventually, it was quite a bit, so I had to let myself out during my heats.” She blushed. “It went over surprisingly well. It got me what I needed, and then, my sister-in-law died just over two years ago. I took the rest of my money and saved it up for Lii’s college fund, paid off my house, and then started saving for my retirement.”

  “Retirement? At your age?”

“Retirement from the BDC. It was emotionally difficult and physically demanding.”

“How demanding could sex be?” Lady Daycross snorted.

“Uhh...” she looked at Etgar, but he grinned and shook his head.

“I can’t answer that, Vallu. That’s all you there.”

“Um, Lady Daycross, was your husband a physical active?”

“No, of course not. He had an energy transmission. That is what got him arrested.”

“That and killing two people in a public venue. And attacking peacekeepers until a team arrived,” Etgar murmured and sipped at his iced tea.

Lady Daycross waved that away. “But, he looks human.”

“Right. So when you have a physical activation, you are dealing with a non-human hormone and biological system. So, it takes a bit more effort to... uh... satisfy that system.”

Some of the staff snickered, and Vallu sighed, surrendering to cruder terms. “Basically, Etgar can fuck for hours; he also likes to chase and catch me, so that is an added exertion. Muscles burn, skin has light abrasions, and sensitive tissues are stretched and aching. And if he’s tied me up at any point, there are added aches and pains.”

Lady Daycross blushed and held up her hand. “I get it.”

Vallu smiled. “Oh, but now I want to tell you. The other patrons all have their personal preferences, but it was Etgar whose booking I accepted before any others. I could give him what he needed, and he could give me what I needed.”

  Lady Daycross grimaced. “Money?”

“That was definitely part of it. The other part was that we fit, and that is not an easy thing to manage.”

Etgar kissed her knuckles. “I like the fit, too.”

Vallu blushed. “I had no idea. You hide it so well.”

  His tail wagged.

His mother snorted. “Fine, you two are well-matched. Etgar, you don’t have an issue with her former occupation?”

He shook his head. “It kept her with her family, so I could never resent that. And it is how we met. There are no other paths that would have had us interacting. This was the only path that could have brought us together, so I am very, very glad it did.” He kissed her hand again, this time licking her palm. He looked at her with dilated pupils. “It is so much fun to try and shock her, and even more fun when it doesn’t work.”

She looked to Lady Daycross. “Anything on the agenda this evening? Care to go for a walk? A run? A desperate sprint across the yard?”

He chuckled and kept pressing kisses down her arm.

She paused and looked at him. “You said there is a place that Lii and I can box? Did Denner agree to let her come?”

He paused and sighed. She exhaled in relief. He went from zero to her over his shoulder really quick.

He gave her a knowing look. “You are delaying the inevitable.”

“I have almost healed the aches and pains. Seriously. Where can we work out?”

He got to his feet and kept possession of her hand. “Yes, Denner agreed to let Lii come. The guys will head to the ferry landing and bring her over. They will be men from the other night that she recognizes. She also has instructions to call you to verify the guys picking her up. Denner is thorough.”

“And I will call Denner when she arrives.” She chuckled.

  “Correct.”

They walked out a back door and headed for a long, low building. “Barracks for your guys?”

  “Correct.”

“So, we are going to be using their gym?”

  “Correct.”

“How many are being kicked out when we are there?”

“Only the ones who aren’t sleeping. Anyone awake that isn’t your protection detail has to go find somewhere else to be.”

“It will only be a couple of hours with some loud music. They can resume their normal sweating and watching porn in a few hours.”

“How often do you do it?”

“The boxing? Every two weeks. Normally horse riding in between.”

“What if you can do both in a day?”

“I will have a very tired little girl. A happy one but still tired.” She chuckled. “She does have school tomorrow, but summer holidays are coming up.”

He pulled her against him. “I was hoping for a few weeks with you, me, and someplace isolated where no one could hear you scream.”

  “Isn’t that called a honeymoon?”

He chuckled. “This would be for the babymoon. The last chance for isolation before we are parents.”

“I am already an incubator, so I am never alone.”

Etgar sighed. “And a very lovely one. All soft and smell good.”
