  Introduction

Mary just wants a normal life as a college student but fate has something else in store for her.

One night after going home late at night, a group of guys accost her, and she is almost assaulted. But a strange man saves her, and while he seems nice at first, she learns shortly after that he is Caleb, a notorious leader of a biker gang, and a rich bad boy to boot.

She wants nothing to do with him, but he wants her.

Mary ignites a desire in Caleb that he never knew existed. However, he is torn between his need to pursue this innocent beauty or keeping her safe from his darker side as the head of an infamous motorcycle gang. He knows that any association with Mary would put her in danger––his principle rivals the Skulls have something planned and he does not want her involved.

But Mary has captured his heart and he cannot stay away.

Mary knows the danger too, but as she gets to know Caleb, she realizes that he is not just some bad boy trying to get the girl. He wants her, and all of her. She is torn between her normal life controlled by will of her parents and Caleb who has roused something inside of her.

Find out if this good girl will finally give in. Will she succumb to the bad boy who keeps reeling her in? Or will her upbringing and sense of duty keep her need for love at bay?

  Mary

I walked through the campus as I headed to my apartment, trying my best not to make eye contact with anyone. It was better this way, to keep myself in place and not get into trouble with anyone. I looked around, making sure nobody was in the area that could bother me. As I continued to walk through the place, I noticed nobody was around. I was happy about that.

I keep to myself, for the sole reason that people are usually not as good as they seem. But as I continued on, I felt a strange presence following me. As I turned one of the corners, I felt sweat trickling down my neck, my heart beat faster, and I grew worried.

  Someone was following me.

I thought about diving into one of the back corners of the building, or maybe into one of the labs that were currently abandoned. But I couldn’t decide if that was the right thing to do. As I continued forward, I looked left and right.

  Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I couldn’t avoid this it seemed.

I turned around, to see who was following me. It was a group of guys, probably college students, and the three of them looked at me with a smile on their faces.

“There she is,” one of them said.

“Perfect, you’re right where we want you,” another one said.

Shit. I was going to get jumped. A hand extended out, and I shimmied backward, avoiding the grasp of the assailant.

  “What’s the matter? Scared?”

  “Yeah,” I said.

“Aww, such a good little girl. It’s a shame it had to be this way. Look around, it’s not like anyone will come to save you right now,” the third guy said.

That’s right. Nobody was here to save me. I was on my own.

“N-not that I need it or anything,” I said.

“You do. We can see it. You're scared shitless. I can’t wait to see what you look like when we’re done with you,” one of them said.

I looked around, hoping that there was someone, anyone, that could save me. They tried to grab my waist, and when I slapped their hands away, I felt the cold sting of a hand against my cheek.

“What do you think you’re doing? You don’t have any say in this. You're just a meek little girl, and we're going to have so much fun with you,” one said with a snicker.

Crap, this wasn’t good. Not good at all. I wanted someone to come save my ass from all this.

“Hey, what are you doing with her,” a voice said.

I looked, and that’s when I heard it. The thrumming sound of a motorcycle.

I noticed a man come forward, with black hair that was shaggy, a nose ring that barely decorated his face, and big, bulging muscles. I also noticed his tattoos, some of them looking threatening, others looking like they had meaning. A jackal here, a snake there. The tattoos obviously were meant to make a statement, but I also knew they had another intent as well.

To get people to stay the fuck away.

Then I saw him come forward, looking at me for a moment and then looking at the others.

“Alright, who is the one threatening this poor girl?” he said.

“Hey, who the hell are you?” one of the guys said.

“None of your business. Leave the girl alone. Or do I need to get the Golden Clovers involved in this?” motorcycle dude asked.

I listened to him, thinking this was just a joke or something but that name sounded familiar. However, I stood there, watching the scene unfold, and I immediately felt regret .

“What do you know? You probably don’t even know the Golden Clovers,” one of the college guys said.

“I do. In fact, I’m the head, and if you don’t leave this pretty girl alone, I’ll make sure we personally take care of everything,” he said to them.

This guy was serious. I watched as the others started to move away, quickly scattering to a different place. When it was all over, I looked over at the guy, feeling scared.

  “What just--”

“Sorry about that. I didn’t like the way those guys were treating you,” he said.

I stood there, scared out of my wits. I felt a sudden urge to run away again.

“Hey, are you okay?” the guy asked.

  “N-no. Please...leave me alone,” I said.

  “But I’m just--”

As I heard those words, I felt the urge to run. Who knows, maybe the guy was really not so bad, but I got a really bad vibe from the way things were going. I rushed on out of there. But then I started to wonder if I should go back. When I got to my apartment, I finally began to relax, calming down after the sudden terror of the moment.

I was almost attacked. And then I was saved by another scary guy who also worried me. What did this mean? What was going to happen now? I feared for my life, that’s for sure. But when I thought about my mysterious savior, the guy who stepped in to save my backside after all of this, there was something about him that made me realize something.

He was attractive. I wondered if what he said was true, was he the leader of the Golden Clovers? I went over to the computer, typing in the gang’s name, hoping good old Google could help me out here.

But that’s when I noticed all the headlines popping up in my feed. They all screamed about how the Golden Clovers were trouble, how the Golden Clovers would only make your life a living hell, how the Golden Clovers were nothing but a mess, and everyone should avoid the gang.

The sudden realization that maybe my search results were accurate made my head spin, and a part of me wondered if there was any way to avoid this. But, maybe just staying back, not getting involved with that strange man, and staying out of the gang’s way was the best option.

Getting involved with Caleb seemed like a terrible idea. He was a rough bad boy, he was a part of a motorcycle gang and I felt his morals were questionable, to say the least. Not to mention, if my dad caught wind of this, I’d be in deep shit.

The best thing to do was to ignore the problem at hand and leave it at that. Not like my dad would find out, or I’d ever see Caleb again.

At least, that’s what I thought.

  Caleb

What the hell was her problem? I wasn’t going to hurt her.

“Jesus. Women are bizarre,” I muttered to myself. I wanted to at least get her name, and make sure she was okay. But maybe telling her nothing was the better option.

She seemed scared though, not because of my association with the motorcycle gang, but mostly just shock from the whole ordea l.

“Whatever. As long as she’s safe. Those guys were definitely from a rival gang,” I muttered. I was happy to not have to worry about that sort of trouble.

After I looked around to make sure they were gone, I drove over to the clubhouse. It looked like the same old, same old was happening. As I walked inside, my second-in-command, John, came over.

  “Hey, Caleb. Everything okay?”

“Eh, could be better. I had to stop a bunch of randos from jumping a girl just now,” I explained.

  “Shit, dude. Rival gang?”

“I think so. Looked like the guys from the Skulls.”

“Son of a bitch. I guess that settles it. There’s going to be trouble,” he said.

“You’re telling me. I hate that it had to come down to this,” I said.

“Yeah, well, you’re the boss. You’re our leader, so you need to make sure everything is okay for all of us. We rely on you, Caleb. And if you ever find a girl that’s worth it, then great, but you should always make sure she’s cool with the club and all,” he said.

“Yeah, I know that John. I’m just worried about her. She seemed like a sweetie, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, you know?” I said.

“You're better off not obsessing over the little stuff my friend. You're better off just letting her come to you. Besides, you know how women can be. They get scared at the sight of someone who is big and strong and bad, too. Do you really want to try to reconcile with that?”

“True. She did look like one of those goodie-goodie types anyways. That type isn’t easy to deal with, you know,” I muttered.

“Exactly, Caleb. You may be the boss, but getting involved with a girl like that, who probably has super strict parents, would only make things worse,” John pointed out.

He was right. As much as I would love to see that pretty little brunette once again, with that curvy body and that ass that made me stare for a good minute, I knew how those types were. She was probably complaining to mommy and daddy right now.

“Yeah, plus my parents are already pretty mad about how I’m handling the Clovers, so I’m definitely not inclined to get on anyone’s bad side,” I said.

“You're right. It’s better this way my friend,” he said.

“I think so too. Plus, you know how my dad can be. He put me in charge of the Clovers to make sure that the gods and lines were properly maintained. If I get a girl involved and she’s with the cops, we're all in deep shit,” I pointed out.

Yeah, as cute as she was, it was better to not worry about her. Still, even after uttering those words to myself, I couldn’t help but think of her. If I at least had a name, it would make me a happy man.

After I finished up my report with John, I sat down in my office, checking the status of the routes. It seemed like everything was being transported correctly. I smiled to myself, realizing how lucky I was to have this setup and to have everything in place.

Still, I wondered if I’d be seeing her on campus anytime soon. She was a cutie, and I mean, as much as I hated it, I did need to take a few classes to appease my dad and all. Oh well, no use in obsessing over her when there was so much else going on. I had so much happening that it was better if I just stayed in my lane. After tallying up the last of the reports, I headed over to the apartment my father gave to me, and I settled down in bed.

I had to go to class the next day. As much as I hated going, I could already tell my father’s anger if I skipped yet another class. I walked into the classroom, expecting not to know anyone. After all, it was the first week of the new semester. But then, as I walked in, I saw a familiar figure, and for a moment, my jaw dropped.

It was her, the woman from the other night. She immediately stood up, looking at me with fear in her eyes.

“S-sorry, I have to go,” she said.

“Hey, don’t leave because of me,” I said, looking at her for a moment.

“I need to leave. Talk to your advisor, change classes,” she said.

“I’m not here to bother you. I’m in this class too. If you think I’m some stalker or some shit, you’ve got the wrong idea,” I said.

“Is there a problem, you two?” a voice asked.

I turned, looking over to see the professor looking at both of us with an annoyed tone.

“No ma’am, I’m just making sure she’s okay,” I said.

“I see. Well, if you two are done, sit down, I’d like to start my lecture at the proper time. If you have any issues with one another, take care of them outside of my class,” she said with a biting tone.

I did as I was told, sitting down at one of the tables, but I could feel the brunette’s eyes boring into my back. What was her name anyway? I wondered if I would find out here, and get to know her a little better.

Or at the very least, apologize for the issues I caused her, and the distress that she seemed to be in. However, as I looked at this girl, I felt a connection, something stronger than concern. Even though I knew damn better than to get involved with some innocent townie girl, my heart wrenched. I could also feel a spark between us already, that damn connection I was trying to avoid.

Shit, I needed to stop this before it was too late.

  Mary

  I couldn’t believe this.

I didn’t want to see him here. It was too complicated. But when I saw Caleb sit next to me, although innocent, it sent a shiver through my body. I did find him attractive, that’s for sure, but I feared getting close. He was part of a motorcycle gang, and I was a simple girl. Things could get awkward.

Or at least, that’s what I thought in my head.

But the closeness of our bodies, even with a desk separating us, made my breath hitch a little bit. I kept myself calm, trying my hardest to figure out what to do about any of this. After all, I knew who Caleb was.

But, the smile on his face, the look of reassurance that bad boy had, made me shudder with pleasure and desire. It made me wonder if I should approach him.

The professor talked about the class, about the syllabus, and the class in general. It was a pretty boring class. When class was over, I got up to leave and Caleb also stood.

  “Hey so—”

“What do you want?” I quickly said.

“Nothing, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Sorry if I offended you or anything,” he said.

I stopped, looking at him for a moment.

“I…I don’t know what to think of you,” she said.

“I’m not a monster. Come on, let’s get something and chat for a bit. I’ll buy,” he said.

My brain, the one logical part of me, was telling me hell no, that if I got involved with him, I would end up getting hurt. But my heart was telling me yes, to go with him.

“Sure, I guess. I’m Mary by the way.” I said.

“Caleb. But you probably figured that out quite easily,” he said with a laugh.

“I did. You were pretty easy to find information on, you know,” I told him.

“Anyway, let’s get out of here before the instructor gets mad that we’re hanging around,” he said.

I nodded, following Caleb over to one of the coffee shops near the campus. When we got there, he turned to me, that damn smile making my heart skip a beat.

“By the way, you can get whatever you want. I’ll buy,” he said.

“You sure? You don’t have to—”

  “I insist,” he said.

I nodded, taking my time to figure out what to think about this.

“Ok, thanks,” I replied, looking at the counter, and the lady running it. I had to choose something, so I ordered a small latte, and he got the same thing. After paying, he motioned for me to go to the seats nearby.
