Jasmine looked up at him. “I hadn’t thought of all of that, thank you very much for a visual of security guards in the halls while my babies are in the classroom.”
“Oh.” He grinned, embarrassed. “I thought that’s what had you worried.”
“No. Never entered my mind until now. I was still on David not sharing his experiences with the Grandfather person or thing or whatever he is,” she said.
“Got it.”
Silas lapsed into silence and thought of the security measures he and Jarcee mapped out for the pups while they were in school. Initially, he planned to send their nurses with them but his pups were so independent, he didn’t see the need. Plus Jackie and Renee had been adamant that they were big girls and didn’t need their nurses any longer. So he and Jasmine referred to the women who watched their pups from birth, as Assistants. Women who assisted Jasmine in the care of the pups.
“You’re excited about them going off to school, aren’t you?” Jasmine asked in tone that lacked all signs of happiness.
“Yes. We had a scare this week and I couldn’t share or explain anything with my pups. I look forward to having conversations with them about how we celebrate the lives of our departed. And how we function as a Nation and what being in a pack means.”
“You’ve taught them some of that already.”
“Yeah but it’s different when you’re in a classroom with other kids and you see how your world was formed. How is it separate and yet a part.” He held her close and inhaled her scent, allowing it to spread through him.
“Silas you have every right to be proud of the school system, from everything I’ve seen and read, they are superior to any schools on the planet. They will excel and have those conversations you crave.”
“Yes, I look forward to that and watching their progress in self-defense training.”
Jasmine didn’t speak.
Silas sighed. “I am aware you don’t agree –”
“They should be trained but later, when they are older, is all I’m saying,” she said, her voice raising at the end.
“Pups are not like human children. Multiply their chronological age by two and you’ll be closer to a human age,” he said.
“Seems like the barometer keeps changing,” she muttered.
Silas laughed. “Part of their acceleration is because of my genes, no shame in that.”
“No, I suppose not.” She placed a kiss on his chest and snuggled close again. “Little Ryan is a trooper. He’s doing so much better, his eyes lit up when I held him earlier.”
“You sound like a proud grandma.”
“A proud Nana,” she corrected.
“Right, Nana. I saw the boys after the celebration and you’re right, they are strong and handsome.” He paused. “Perhaps we should consider adding to our den?”
“No. The time isn’t right. Mom and Jacques are having multiples, probably four or more. She’s going to need help, plus Rose’s two. We’ll be busy.”
“Good thing our pups will be in school for a few hours,” he said and then laughed when she rolled her eyes at him. “It’s true. With all the infants, you’ll be busy while our den is empty for a few hours.”
Jasmine sighed and then nodded. “It happened so fast. Maybe we can do a quick vacation before they go to school. To the island for a few days.”
“Sure, you would leave your mother and Rose?”
Jasmine bit her lip. “Maybe after mom has the baby, Renee’s coming to visit.”
“The KnightForce trainees will be here soon but only for three days. After that I’m free. Just do not mention it to the pups or anyone else until we are on the plane.”
“I agree.” She kissed him and laced her fingers in his. “I’m in love with a wolf.”
Silas chuckled and held her tight. Tomorrow was another day, filled with new challenges and opportunities. But right now, he had this. He had her. And she was all he needed. “Yes, you are.”

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read the second book in the La Patron’s KnightForce series. I love paranormal books and characters in general and shifter stories in particular. Throw in the romantic element, strong Alpha characters who bend beneath the power of love and I’m over the moon. Sighs…
KnightForce has become Silas’ fighting arm, enabled and authorized to mete out justice to enemies of the Wolf Nation and extend a hand to any of the Alphas in need. In each KnightForce book Silas deals with the challenges of running a nation of 33 million, and climbing, wolves. While most are content to follow the mandates set up by the Goddess, there are always rebels and those who want to rule such a strong and mighty nation.
You’re invited to journey with me through all the books in this series. If you like fast paced action, suspense and great love connections like me, you won’t be disappointed. Knight Chronicles is a newsletter for my Readers Group from the characters of the series to keep you informed of what’s going on in the Wolf Nation. Each issue has a personal message from Silas Knight, La Patron, or his mate, Jasmine. Character profiles with in-depth interviews and thoughts you won’t find anywhere else. Also works in progress, new releases and special give-aways in every issue.
