David frowned and then shrugged. “A big Black Wolf.”

Silas wished Angus was there. He’d spoken of a wolf visiting full-bloods in their dreams, Maheegan had as well. This was the first he remembered of the wolf talking to a half-breed.

“Do you remember the first time you talked to him?” Jasmine asked.

Frowning, David rubbed the side of his face. “When I couldn’t do anything. He talked to me and told me things.”

“Like what?” Jackie asked moving closer to him and touching his hand.

  “About being a wolf.”

“Did he fix you?” Adam asked. “Is that how you started walking?”

“No. Maybe. I don’t know. But he said I would get better and be strong.”

“Good. I’m glad you are better. You’re more fun now,” Renee said, touching David’s arm.

He smiled and looked at Sarita.

“Sarita, have you talked to Grandfather?” Jasmine asked.

David and Sarita stared at each other for a long moment and Silas wondered if they were talking through a link.

  “Answer Mistress,” Asia said.

“Yes.” Sarita said in a soft voice while looking at the floor.

“You never told me that,” Jackie said as if Sarita committed treason.

“It’s okay, honey,” Silas said to calm Jackie.

“When did you talk to Grandfather?” Jasmine asked in a calm tone.

Sarita’s gaze met Jasmine’s and then she slumped against Asia. “Before I came here.” She looked at Jackie.

Jasmine looked at Asia and then back to Sarita. “When you were in the… other place?”

Sarita nodded and looked at the floor but held onto Asia’s hand so tight it would leave marks.

“Did he come to you?” Jasmine asked, clearly trying to learn how this person, or being, contacted the children.

  “I was crying.”

  “Why?” David asked.

Sarita looked up at him. “I was hungry and they wouldn’t let me eat or leave the room.”

Silas saw the pain flash across Hawke’s face and empathized with him. Asia held Sarita close and kissed the top of her head.

“He talked to you while you were crying?” Asia asked.

Sarita nodded. “He told me someone would bring me food and that night somebody slipped meat and biscuits inside the door.”

“Do you still talk to him?” Asia asked.

Sarita nodded. “Sometimes he comes to talk to me and tell me things.” She paused. “Like he talks to David.”

  David and Sarita’s gazes locked.

“I want a Grandfather,” Adam said moving closer to David and looking in his eyes. “Take me to him.”

“When I need him I just call his name and he comes. Try it. Say Grandfather…” David watched Adam call out.

“Nothing happened,” Adam complained, crossed his arms and poked out his lips.

“Why did you touch Asia the other day?” Silas said drawing David’s attention from his brother. Adam’s tantrums were brief but draining.

“Grandfather said she needed help and for me to touch her. She needed to get to Hawke.” He looked at Sarita who hid her face in Asia’s chest.

“So you went to help,” Silas said, still unclear on this Grandfather character.

  “Yes, Sir.”

Silas looked at Jasmine. “What now?”

“I don’t know what to think.” She looked at the children again. “Why did you run to your sisters and Adam when the bad men were here?” Jasmine asked David.

David frowned as he looked at her. “What do you mean, Mommy?”

“You knew there were bad people near but you didn’t tell me or anyone else. You went to your sisters and Adam. Why?” Jasmine asked again.

David looked at her a few moments longer and shrugged. “I don’t know.”

  Chapter 26

Angus strode into Silas’ office with a troubled frown. His gaze roamed over Silas and then settled on his face. For a few moments neither spoke. Silas sensed his litter-mate’s concern for him and everyone in the compound through their link.

“Glad you’re back,” Silas said motioning to an overstuffed leather chair near his desk. “I heard from Chase, he’s pleased with the job you completed and has been singing your praises to other Alphas about KnightForce.”

Angus nodded as he sat down. “Rebel activity is increasing, the sooner we get our people in place and open offices the better.”

“There are other problems that need to be addressed. I’ve seen what this new drug does to humans and it’s not pretty. Whatever short-term benefits they receive is not worth the pain and suffering on the back end. It’s just a matter of time before the Justice Department knocks on our door about this,” Silas said.

“So when they took my blood, that wasn’t the beginning?”

“No. Rese, Hawke and Asia, shut down a lab yesterday and removed valuable information that gives great insight on numbers and distribution of the drug. Get this, the normal formula uses canine blood, typically a Rottweiler or Doberman. Using wolf blood was new; Lancaster probably told them about it.”

“I heard he was dead and Asia stole his memories,” Angus said smiling.

Silas smiled. Asia was a mystery, her physiology wasn’t 100 percent wolf. But she served the Goddess and Jasmine faithfully. “Yes she did. Lots of information. I sent Brix and Leon to clear out the remaining labs in the States. And sent another team to raid a supply container and another group to a place where he had been living.”

Angus nodded. “Congratulations, you rid the States of the Liege.”

“Yeah, we did. There are three more. I sent Barticus their names, he’ll handle them.”

“Three? Do you know their names?” Angus asked.

Silas looked through the pages on his desk and then handed a paper to Angus.

  Angus whistled. “Koolong and Crysman.”

“Koolong is well-known in financial circles. Barticus was surprised as well. He plans to grab that one and is sending others after Crysman. Which leaves Roderick,” Silas said.

“I’d love to catch that bastard,” Angus said in a conversational tone. “We have unfinished business.”

  “The chameleon?” Silas asked.

“Not really. He ordered his surgeons to experiment on me, I took exception, tore up his lab. I always wanted to gut him for that and his role in stealing full-bloods.”

Silas sat forward with his hands clasped between his knees. “Well, you’ll need to put your quest for vengeance on hold. First we celebrate our deceased pack members.” His voice dropped an octave as he thought of Froggy and the others.

  “When?”

“Tonight.” Silas paused. “I waited for you.”

“Thank you. I’ll miss the old bastard. He was a good friend,” Angus said.

“Yes he was. In the next few days we need to prepare for the arrival of the trainees.”

  Angus met Silas’ gaze. “KnightForce?”

“Yes. I pushed it back two days, the trainees have been informed and all have replied. That doesn’t give you much time to rest after being away but I want KnightForce activated and in the field as soon as possible,” Silas said. “The information we retrieved from that lab leads me to believe the base portion of the drug that blinds us to scents came from somewhere else.”

  “Stolen?”

Silas nodded. “Like the poison used in the water here. Hawke picked up on it first. The language and one ingredient is unavailable to the public. They’ve been experimenting on ways to shut us down –”

“Or to become as strong as us,” Angus said.

“Yes. If we cannot scent them as they approach, they gain an advantage. But when you mess with nature like that, the price is heavy.”

  “Damage to our wolf?”

“Yes, big-time. If a full-blood uses the dampener drug, he’s killing his beast,” Silas said.

“Have you informed the Alphas about the drugs?” Angus asked.

“Yes and I warned all wolves about the dangers of the scent-eliminating drugs and what to expect from humans who are amped up on the other stuff,” Silas said. “Those warnings will play on the new system Hawke created, all day for the next month, no one will have an excuse for ignorance.”

  “Good. How’s Jasmine?”

“Great. I am a fortunate wolf.”

“Yes you are. How’s Rone’s son?” Angus asked.

Silas pursed his lips. “From what I’ve been told, he’s getting better each hour.”

  “You haven’t seen him?”

“No. I lifted the quarantine two hours ago and have been busy. I’ll pay him a visit later.” Silas paused and stared at Angus. “What do you know of a Black Wolf who visits in dreams and goes by the name Grandfather?”

Angus sat back in his chair, steepled his fingers beneath his chin and met Silas’ gaze. “I have seen him in dreams. In the past he has provided me with warnings, information and comfort. I’ve never sensed anything bad or demonic about him. Who calls him Grandfather?” He paused and then smiled. “David? Has the Black Wolf made himself known to David and not the others?”

“Why are you smiling? The Black Wolf contacted you and my pup but not me.” Silas told Angus about the incident with David touching Asia.

“And it calmed her beast?” Angus asked.

Silas nodded and wondered at the puzzled look on his litter-mate’s face. “What are you thinking?”

Angus licked his lips. “Just… I was an adult when he came to me. Old enough not to need parental permission. How long have he and David been talking?”

“Before he was healed.” That admission disturbed Silas.

Angus released a breath and shook his head. “Don’t know why that happened, sounds like he liked your boy and introduced himself early.”

“Sarita too.” Silas looked at the comical surprised expression on Angus face.

  “Sarita? Hawke’s pup?”

  Silas nodded.

“Those are the only two he’s talked with?” Angus asked.

“So far. Tell me, is this normal? Do I have anything to be concerned about?” Silas asked, unsure what he could do about it in any case. But he trusted Angus would warn him if there was any danger.

“Normal?” Angus chuckled and rubbed his nose. “We’re more animal than human, living in the shadows while celebrating our superiority. Nothing’s been normal about us in centuries. As far as being concerned, I can only reflect on my positive experiences with the Black Wolf. He’s been great.”

Silas released a breath as he nodded. “Good to know. If your assessment changes, please let me know.”

  “Will do.”

The door opened and Jasmine walked in. Her scent slammed into Silas and his dick hardened.

Her face lit when she saw Angus who stood and took her outstretched hand before placing a small kiss on her cheek.

“I heard you were back, it’s good to see you,” she said releasing him and making her way to Silas.

“Good to see you as well. I’m on my way to the nursery to see the pups,” Angus said backing up a few steps. “I will see you both at the life celebration for Frogs later.” He waved and left the room.

Silas snaked his arm around Jasmine’s waist pulling her closer. The flat of her palms rested on his chest. He placed a finger beneath her chin and bent forward, brushing his lips across hers. Her natural scent filled his nostrils, calming his beast.

She leaned back slightly, exposing the long column of her neck.

He followed with a trail of kisses and stopped at the base of her throat. His beast rumbled, the sound vibrated against her skin.

“I’ve wanted and needed you for days but we keep getting interrupted. Not this time, Sweet Bitch. You’re mine until we’re done. Which won’t happen anytime soon.”

  Her breath caught. “Silas.”

Nothing sounded as good as his name on her lips. He shuddered and held her tighter.

“Silas,” she said on a breathy moan as her arm reached up and wrapped around his neck.

He bent, picked her up and pushed the button locking the door to his office. Her head lay on his chest as he moved toward the wide sofa in the back of the room.

“I came to tell you something,” she said softly as he lay her down.

He removed one shoe and then the other while holding her gaze. “Tell me later.”

Jasmine pulled her blouse over her head and tossed it aside and then unsnapped her bra. She smiled at him and then leaned back.

Mouth dry, he toed off his shoes, while pulling off his shirt.

“Nice,” Jasmine murmured. The scent of her arousal beat against him. His beast demanded they take their mate. He shoved down his pants and stepped out of them, while holding his leaking cock. Pride at the lust in his woman’s eyes, as she stared at him, filled him. “I want you,” Jasmine whispered and lay flat on the sofa, opening her legs wide.

“Take that off,” he said, his voice a needy, low growl. He pointed to her thong. When she shimmied out of it and tossed it aside, his cock hardened. “Bless the Goddess, you’re beautiful.” He ran his finger between her legs and sucked her juices off his finger. “And you taste so good.” Kneeling on the bed between her legs, he pushed her legs open, leaned forward and licked her folds.

Jasmine moaned. “Next time, Silas. Right now, I need you to fill me.”

Her words struck a chord in him. His beast howled and pushed to be inside her. Silas had waited, what he considered a long time to be with his mate and refused to rush. Tasting her was his appetizer of choice and they were just getting started.

  She yanked on his hair.

Silas laughed against her sweet lips and then sucked her clit.

“Now Silas,” she growled squeezing him between her legs. She trembled beneath his sensual assault.

“I’ve missed this,” he murmured, placing kisses up her mound, her belly and then latching onto a nipple.

A shudder wracked her body as her arms tightened around him. “Silas, please,” she said on a long moan.

His beast howled, demanding they take her now. Sweat dripped from his forehead onto her chest as he rolled her tight nipples across his tongue. Eager to join with her, he kissed the other nipple briefly, rose up and slid inside her tight sheath.

Jasmine’s back arched. Her mouth opened wide and then her body shook. The muscles in her core spasmed around him. Gritting his teeth, Silas remained still until the shudders lessened. He pulled out and then thrust forward, reveling in her hot, tight canal.

Silas slammed into her, excited by her moans of pleasure and demands for it faster, harder and deeper. Grunts, moans and slapping flesh created background music as they spiraled higher and higher. Tension coiled in his back as the need for release increased. His heart raced. Thought fled as he flew over the crest of sublime ecstasy, filling her with his essence.

Jasmine’s shouted her release in a husky voice filled with contentment. Now that they pleased their mate, his beast relaxed. Silas’ forehead dropped against Jasmine’s.

“You’re sweaty,” she said with a chuckle in her voice.

He tried to move but she wrapped her arms and legs around him, holding him in place. “I like it.”

  “Hmm?”

Her hand ran up and down his back, soothing and stimulating at the same time. “I like that you give me everything when we make love. You give me your total focus and that’s sexy.”

Her words went straight to his dick, causing it to jump.

She laughed and slapped his ass. “No, I really came to tell you something.”

Silas rolled to his side, bringing her with him. Lying face to face, he traced the outline of her face with his fingertip. “I love you,” he whispered, meeting her gaze.

Her eyes became shiny and she blinked a few times before smiling at him. “I love you so much, Wolfie.”

Smiling, he brushed a kiss across her brow. “Sweet Bitch, what did you come to tell me?”

“Oh… someone named Melch wants to talk to you. Jacques said it’s important. The call came as I was leaving his office to come here and he asked me to tell you.” She frowned. “You’re linked with him, right?”

  Silas nodded.

“Wonder why he didn’t tell you that way?”

Basking in her scent and warmth, he kissed her forehead. “Because he’s my friend and once you said you were on your way to me, he knew I would do what we just did. Nothing is more important than taking care of you.”

“So, he gave me this message because he assumed we would have sex?” Her brow rose.

“No assumption, he was certain, just as Angus was certain. When you walked in earlier I smelled your need. Plus you had this look in your eyes, like full-blood bitches do when they need to mate.”

She thumped his chest with her fist. “I did not.”

“Oh, well I misread the signs because I needed you,” he said palming her ass.

Jasmine sighed and looked up at him. “One more round and then I’ll let you get back to work.”

Silas smiled as he captured her lips for a deep kiss. “Sweet Bitch.”

  Chapter 27

Silas and Jasmine walked hand in hand to the nursery. He kissed her, hard. Letting her know he would take her again and again if she wanted. Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer, deepening their kiss and commitment to each other. She forgave him for his lack of judgment during the quarantine. He thanked the Goddess for a strong, smart mate. She saw things differently and helped him to understand changes were necessary for their Nation to thrive.

When they broke for air, she wiped her thumb across his lips and smiled up at him. “I need to check on the kids. No telling what they’ve been into.”

He loosened his hold, his hands slid down her back and cupped her ass. “They’re good pups. No harm in a few pranks.”

Smiling, she pushed against his chest.

His arms dropped and then he returned one arm around her waist. “Can’t let you go. My arms are empty without you.”

She winked and removed his hand. “Later, Wolfie. I’ll fill your arms and you’ll fill me.”
