Only In the Dark, page 8
Ricardo hesitates as he doesn’t trust Dom. He lowers the gun but still has a hold on Anne.
Holding one hand up, Dom reaches one hand in his suit jacket, and before I can blink, he pulls out his gun and shoots Ricardo.
Ricardo falls to the ground with a bullet right between his eyes, and Dom sighs. “Mom, are you alright?”
She can’t speak through her sobs, but she manages to nod.
Dom scrubs his hands over his face with annoyance. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’ll be okay. I never liked that Ricardo anyway.” She kicks at his feet then turns her attention back to the bread sitting on the stove.
“Mom, you are coming home with us.”
“I don’t want to intrude on you both.” She waves us off. This woman is a saint.
Me and Dom repeat the same sentiment at the same time. “You won’t.”
I feel like it would be better for her to move in with us. He can still keep the house and have meetings here and not at our home. Our home.
“Well, let me get my bag.”
“I’ll get it,” I tell her.
“It’s on top of the stairs.”
“Back in a flash.”
After I come back, we load into the SUV that pulls up, and Dom texts someone. I’m assuming he is texting someone to clean the mess. At least he didn’t bleed on the carpet. Maybe tile is easier to clean.
Chapter Twenty
GENEVA
We arrive back to the house I now share with Dom. He carries his mother’s things inside while I put an arm around her to show her to a spare room.
“You can stay in here. If you need anything at all, just press the intercom, and someone can get what you need. If you are hungry, the fridge is packed with food.”
Her eyes are still watery, and she brings me into a big hug. “I am so sorry you had to witness those things. I know my son has the best heart, and he will protect his family at all costs.” With her hands, she smooths them over my hair while looking into my eyes.
“It’s okay. I love that about your son. I’m gonna marry him one day.” When I say this, her eyes avert to the doorway, where Dom is casually leaning on the doorframe, hands in his pants pocket. My cheeks heat.
I turn back to Anne and say, “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Geneva and Domincky.” She reaches up to hug him, and a smile spreads on his face.
I love that she calls him by a nickname. She looks back at me once again and tells me, “Remember what I said.”
“I will. Goodnight.”
Dom closes the door behind us and he starts undoing his dress shirt. “Shower?”
“Yes. Then I’m going to need a stiff drink.”
In his private bathroom we strip out of our clothes and let the double headed showerhead cascade over us. The blood that splattered on him runs down the drain. He washes himself, and when he grabs his cock to clean it, I get on knees, needing him. Maybe this is how I deal with the stress of it all.
His cock grows as soon as I grip it in my hand. “Fuck, Gen,” he calls out.
Then I take his cock in my mouth, slowly working from tip to base, and I start pumping my mouth faster. A moan escapes Dom’s lips.
After a couple of minutes, I feel his grip, and he’s pulling me up, slamming his lips on mine. Gripping my legs, he pulls me up and presses my back against the stall, my legs around his waist. His cock slams into me, and I gasp even with his tongue tangling with mine.
“Hands on the wall, Gen.”
I spin and put my palms flat on the wall, and he positions my ass so he can continue pumping inside me. At this point, him being mine, and me being his, I wouldn’t care if he knocked me up. I want everything he wants to offer.
“Fuck. God, Gen. I’m going to come already.”
I can no longer hold my own orgasm back, and I let myself release it at the same time he does. “Yes! Fuck!” I scream.
He gives a final thrust. “God! Fuck!”
I smile when he pulls back, and his breathing is so heavy. I myself am completely spent. We don’t speak while we look at each other, catching our breath.
“Have I told you how fucking sexy you are?”
Biting on my bottom lip, I shake my head.
“Well, you are. And you’re a woman I don’t deserve.”
“And you’re a man I don’t deserve.”
We finish up in the shower, and once we dry off, I pull on a pair of sweats, Dom pulls on black sweat pants, and remains shirtless, which is deadly for me because I simply can’t get enough.
Dom cracks his mom’s bedroom door and peeks in on her. “She’s fast asleep,” he whispers.
“I’m glad she’s staying here. Safer for all of us.”
“You hungry? We barely ate at my mom’s.”
“Yes.”
He reaches for my hand, holds it tight, and it makes me feel comfort. He feels like home.
“My stuff,” I say when we reach the landing. Dom didn’t think it was safe enough for me and Liv to move out our own things, so he hired movers and a couple of his men to clear out. Even insisted on paying the break our lease, which was not cheap. I miss the view, but Dom’s place has a great view in the back.
“I’ll have Belva put your things away in the morning.”
“Well, I can help.”
We stop, and with Dom’s hand still holding mine, he pulls it around his waist, so we are hugging. When I look up, he tucks a hair behind my ear. “I love you, Geneva Castle Fallone.
“I love you too, Dominick LaRocca.”
He pulls away, and the loss is immediate, but he walks over to the small desk and pulls something from the drawer. With a smile, he says, “This is for you.”
“For me? What is it?”
“Open it.”
He stands excitedly as he watches me, the smile not leaving his face. I unfold the paper and read it. My eyes grow wide. “Are you serious? Why are you giving me ownership of the club?”
“Why not, Gen. You deserve it. You can do anything you want with it.”
“What about Aldus?”
“Up to you. You can fire him and run it how you want, or you can keep everything as is and keep him on. Whatever you want to do with it.”
“Dom, I can’t accept this. It’s too much.”
“Yes, you can. It’s the least I can do for everything you have been through.”
“What about you? You had to kill your own step dad. That couldn’t have been easy.”
“It wasn’t. But it’s what needed to be done. Need a pen to sign that?” he asks about the document.
“Yes,” I smile. “But you seriously didn’t have to do this.”
“I know. I wanted to. I’ll be busy taking over my step dad’s duties, so I won’t be able to focus my attention on anything else, besides having you by my side, and keeping my mom safe.”
He hands me a pen, and I sign the document. It’s hard to wrap my head around now being the owner of Heaven’s Door.
We walk, and I look at Dom. “Sit.”
I look in the fridge and find some food. “Looks like Belva left some meatballs in here, and you sub rolls.”
“Sounds good to me,” he says taking a seat on a stool.
I get everything together and heat the meatballs in a pan. Dominick watches me and points out where everything is. And once the rolls are toasted, I place the meatballs in them.
I serve Dominick a plate and sit next to him at the kitchen island.
“I give it to Belva, she makes great meatballs.”
I nod, agreeing.
“Oh, you have some there.” Dom takes a finger and swipes the sauce from the corner of my mouth, then licks it.
We finish eating and put everything away, and Dom walks to his bar. “Drink?”
“Yes, please. The jail finally called me and told me I could come back to work.”
“That’s great, Gen.”
He passes me a drink.
“But they did inform me that once my contract ended, they would not be continuing it.”
“Fuck. I’m sorry about that.” He runs his hand over my back in a caring way.
“It’s okay. Probably for the best, anyway.”
“You never know, it could be a blessing in disguise.”
“You’re right. It could be. Plus, I still can’t believe you signed over Heaven’s Door to me.”
“It makes more sense for you to have it. Now you don’t have to do much of anything if you don’t want to.”
I smile. “I haven’t decided what I’m going to do. I would like to open some sort of speak easy club, where people get dressed up and have a fancy night out. Something classy. But I need to think about it more.”
“If you need anything from me, let me know. Are you sure you are okay with me taking over my step dad’s duties? I don’t want anything to interfere with what we have going.”
“Yeah, I know you’ll be busy for a while, until you get everything sorted out. But I’m here for the long haul.”
He smirks. “You are?” He closes the distant between us and wraps his arms around me.
“I am.”
He bends to kiss my forehead, and every time he does it, my heart melts.
“I know you heard what I told your mom.”
He gets that shit eating grin and nods. “I heard. Marriage is forever, you know.”
“I know. And I want forever with you.”
“I do, too.”
EPILOGUE
DOMINICK
Two months later
One month ago, I asked Geneva to marry me. Naturally she said yes and got to planning right away. Today, in a few short minutes, she will be Mrs. LaRocca. Even though she doesn’t have to take my last name, she insists, and it makes me smile every time I think about it.
Every day I get to come to her, and it makes me happy, and she is always a breath of fresh air when I have a bad day. Work has been so stressful, but I think everything is under control, and things will get back to normal.
With her family and mine in attendance, I stand nervously at the alter and adjust my tie. Mom is sitting in the front row smiling that she is gaining a daughter and the fact that I’m finally settling down.
The wedding march plays, and I know Geneva is on the other side of the alter, behind the door. When the doors open, my breath hitches. She is stunning in an all-white princess gown, and the veil has a long train. Livia bends down behind Gen to fix the train. God, this woman is everything to me. She links an arm with her dad’s as he walks her toward me.
I do everything in my power to try not to cry. And as she gets closer, my eyes well up, but it’s for happiness. She reaches me and smiles wide, causing me to smile back. I quickly swipe the tears from my eyes.
“You look so handsome,” she says as we join hands.
“And you look stunning. Making a grown man cry.”
We share a giggle before the vows are exchanged.

“Now you are mine forever. Just like in any mafia family. The only way to get out of it is by death.”
“Jesus, you went so dark. But no matter what, I am yours forever.”
After dinner, we make our way to the middle of the dance floor to slow dance At Last by Etta James.
“How does it feel to be Mrs. LaRocca?”
“Feels amazing. Did you ever think we would end up here? Being that the first time we met, you kidnapped me.”
I grin wide. “The minute I did that, I knew I wanted more. Needed more. And now I have you. So I don’t regret it.”
“I don’t either.” The song stops, but Geneva takes my hand, and she leads us to the balcony where the night air is a cool breeze. She stands looking out over the city, and I stand behind her, wrapping my arms around her as we share a quiet moment.
“I’m pregnant,” she whispers.
“Geneva!” I spin her around to face me. “That’s amazing. How long have you known?”
She smiles. “Since this morning. I was having some morning sickness, and I thought it was just wedding jitters, even though I was ready to marry you. Then Livia said maybe I should do a test just to see. And two lines appeared.”
“Today is the best of my life, I’m so happy.”
“It’s mother and groom dance. And bride and father dance time,” Livia calls from the door. Seeing the smile on her face, she must know Geneva told me about the pregnancy.
“Gives us a few minutes,” I tell her because I want us to enjoy this moment for as long as I can.
“I wasn’t sure if you would be happy about it or not. Your childhood hasn’t exactly been ideal.”
“I’m ecstatic and want to tell everyone, but I know we can’t yet.”
“Right. But we will when it’s the right time.”
I engulf her with an embrace, pulling her close. “God, I love you so much.”
She wraps her arms around my waist and leans her head on my chest. “I love you so much. And the thought of losing you,” her breath catches.
I unlocked my arms from her, and bend to look her in the eye. “You will never lose me. You have me for forever.”
“And you have me for forever.” I plant my lips on hers.
