  Synopsis

In part 3 of this dramatic love story, it seems like the ghost from the past wants to pay each person a visit.

With Merci and Greyson not being able to get enough of each other, the one thing that they can't get a grip on is their past relationships. When people and secrets they thought they'd put behind them come back around to create drama, it creates more of a problem than anyone would have expected.

With each couple still holding on to the happy ending they desire, all that's left to do is wonder whether bitter and malicious exes tear them apart or will they be able to get through it remaining as one?

Dive into this sequel where connections are made, patience is tested, and love is possibly lost.

This book is dedicated to everyone who is continuously supporting me through this amazing journey. I still can’t believe that I’m a published author.

Also, to my friends (Hydiea, Vee, and Kaa), thank you for the extra push. Every last one of y’all are bomb and it’s only up from here.

And last but not least, my mother, Regina, who is book crazy. She has supported every one of my releases and I am forever grateful. She goes above and beyond to push my books to others. Thank you, Mommy. I love you.

-Thank you, God, for it all. Without you I would be nothing.

“Grey, come on baby.” I giggled as I tried to break from his embrace.

He had been sitting on the bed the whole time but the moment I stripped out of my nightgown, here he came trying to start something I didn’t have time for.

Rubbing his hands in between my thighs, he caressed up and down as he laid his head on my shoulder.

With his tall frame standing behind me, I swear I never wanted to move, but right now I was on a time schedule.

I had somewhere very important to be at noon. Which meant I only had an hour to get ready and drive twenty minutes out. So yes, I was cutting it really close to say this was important to me.

“Where you think you’re goin’? Especially without loving on a nigga,” he said close to my ear.

Smiling, I looked back at him, causing my cheek to meet his lips.

“Babe, you know I have a meeting with that guy about buying that building,” I explained to him.

I had finally had enough money to buy my own place. Well, ninety percent of it was because of Greyson, but I still had it.

“Oh yeah, my bad. You need me to go with you?” He backed up a little then spun me around so that I was now facing him.

“No, I don’t need you to go. I got this.” I beamed up at him as his hands now rested alongside my hips.

He stood there boring into my eyes as his hair spewed out wildly on top of his head.

Last night I had taken down his hair that was once braided up into some zig zag pattern.

“Alright, well you know you can call me if you need me. I gotta go meet up with Saw anyway,” he let me know, as I cut my eyes to the alarm clock.

“Ok. Well look, even though I would love to stand here and chit chat with your fine ass, I can’t. I gotta get ready.”

I stood on my tip toes, planted a kiss on his pink lips then finished getting ready.

Greyson and I had been doing really good lately which I was happy about. I was glad that I only had to check him once about his ex. I hadn’t had any problems from her since, and I was so grateful for that.

Greyson also hadn’t given me a reason to believe that he was dealing with her in any kind of way; however, the moment I felt like he was on some foul shit, on his ass I would be.

Doing my last finishing touches, I looked down at my watch to see that I had gotten dressed, put on a little bit of make-up and was able to run the straightener through my hair and still had five minutes to spare.

“Alright babe, I will call you and let you know how it goes.” I walked over to the bed where Grey laid on his back with his hands positioned under his head as he looked at the TV.

“Cool.” He cut his eyes at me as I lusted over his bare chest.

Granted, I would have loved to stay laid up in the bed with him, but business was always first. Love didn’t pay the bills so I couldn’t put this off, and I knew he wouldn’t want me to miss out on the opportunity.

“Cool? That’s all you’re going to say to me before I leave out of the door?” I looked at him confused.

“Remember, you didn’t have time to chit chat with my fine ass.” He smirked at me and I rolled my eyes.

“Whatever Grey.” I grabbed the pink, furry pillow that decorated my bed and threw it at him.

He quickly jumped to his feet and rounded the bed and was now standing in front of me.

“Now if you want me to bend you over and make love to you before you go then I’m with it. So, what you want?” He bit down on his bottom lip as his hands rested on top of my ass.

As he looked into my eyes, I could feel my body becoming hot.

“I gotta go,” I told him, which caused a wide smile to appear on his face.

“That’s what I thought. But good luck baby. You got this. Trust me, everything is going to go your way.” He pulled me close to him before kissing me on the lips.

“Thank you, babe.” I then pulled away and headed out the door.

I was now pulling into the parking lot of a big building. I was never able to get in direct contact with the owner, but his assistant had set everything up and told me when to come and meet him.

Now looking down at my phone, I was about ten minutes early. Grabbing the vanilla folder that I had put together with all the questions I wanted to ask and also all the important documents I thought I would need, I cut my car off and got out.

As I walked up to the glass building, that was in the middle of downtown Houston, I was able to do a once over of myself before I walked inside.

I had decided on a pair of red jeans, a sheer white shirt that was decorated with black polka dots, and I had some black peep toe heels on my feet. I was looking amazing and I even felt that way.

The front doors automatically open and as I entered, the sounds of low symphonic music played as people in suits walked throughout the building.

Spotting the front desk as a beautiful red head sat behind it, I made my way over to her. I made sure to walk with my head held high and show nothing but confidence just in case the owner was somewhere watching me.

“Hello, how are you?” I walked over to the desk and spoke.

“Hello, how may I assist you?” she asked as she looked up from the stack of papers.

“Hi, my name is Merci and I was meeting with the owner of the building that’s located on the 1960 and 45,” I expressed as she nodded and listened to me.

She then began to flip through her sticky notes.

“Oh yes, Merci, I do have you down. If you head down the hallway, the last door on your

left. He should be in there waiting for you.” She smiled at me and I smiled back.

“Thank you so much,” I beamed as I clutched my folder to my chest and headed down the hallway.

Once I reached the matte black door, I stood there trying to steady my beating heart. Taking in deep breaths, I closed my eyes and said a quick prayer. Raising my hand, I knocked on the door.

I stood there and waited patiently for someone to say come in, but they never did. I began to look over my shoulder to see if I was maybe at the wrong door, but this was the last door down the hallway.

Finally, the door opened and a pretty blonde haired, blue eyed, white chick opened the door. The look on her now bright red face and the way her red lipstick was smeared let me know she was in there doing something she had no business.

“Sorry about that.” She smiled as her perky breasts sat up in the skin-tight, beige, knee-length pencil dress.

“It’s all good. My name is Merci and—”

“Oh yes, I know who you are, come on in.” She moved to the side and let me in.

As I entered the office, the chick eased her way out and closed the door behind her. The fresh scent of a cologne that I remembered all too well caused my stomach to turn, reminding me of someone I wanted no dealings with.

While looking around the plain office space, that had a couple paintings hanging randomly on the wall, I made my way to a black chair that sat in front of the black oak desk.

Whomever the owner was, was facing the opposite direction of the desk so I had yet to see who it was. Granted, I wished I would have gotten a name but when I got in contact with his assistant, I didn’t care about none of that shit. I was just happy to be making the right moves to secure my future.

Pulling the chair back, I sat down with my legs crossed and the envelope in my lap.

Finally, the black leather chair turned around and I found myself speechless. The lump that had formed in my throat was causing me to swallow hard.

My eyes bulged out of my head and I found myself gripping the arm of the chair.

“What’s good Merci.” Nix smirked at me as he adjusted his tie and then placed his hands on the desk.

As I stared at the man that I had formed a disgust for, I found myself not being able to move out the chair that I was in.

The flashbacks of that day in the club began to invade my mind causing my palms to become sweaty.

Nix was the last person on earth that I expected to see today. Even though he and I had dated, I never knew of him to own any other buildings besides the club, that I swore I would never enter again.

“What are you doing here?” I questioned, finally finding the words to say.

Chuckling loudly, he rose to his feet and walked around the desk, allowing his fingertips to slowly glide across the wooded desk.

I quickly rose to my feet and backed away from him. The same thing that had happened in the office of his club was not about to happen now.

“What do you mean what am I doing here? You want to buy my building, don’t you?” He wore this innocent look on his face that I knew was only a facade.

I knew Nix was really on some bullshit and not to mention, he did get beat up by Greyson. I felt this was some revenge type of shit.

“Nix, had I known you were the owner I would have never come here.” My voice cracked as I tried to back as far away from him as I could.

“Surprise!” He threw his hands in the air as his brows raised.

“It’s quite funny to me that we are back in one room together. The only difference now is, who in the fuck will be able to save you this time?” He rubbed his hand across his chin as he began to make his way towards me.

The only thing that I could think to do was run. Dropping the envelope that hosted all of my important documents, I sprinted towards the door.

With my hand now on the door handle, I twisted it, right as Nix grabbed a handful of my hair and jerked me back.

Screaming, I fell to the floor as Nix towered over me.

“You don’t have your little friend this time to save you. You’re going to quit playing me like I’m some type of peon ass nigga Merci. How you just gon’ fuck me but then act like it’s nothing. You fucking that other nigga?” Nix was now yelling.

I couldn’t understand why in the hell he was in such a rage. We had fucked and that was it. There was no way that he thought that we were going to be back together.

Especially because Nix would always be on the same bullshit that he had always been on, hence the white chick that had walked out of here when I entered.

“What I have going on is not your business Nix. Just let me leave,” I cried as I looked up at him.

A smirked crept onto his face and he took it upon himself to lean down. His hot breath was now tickling the side of my ear.

“Merci, whatever I want to be my business will be and right now, I have my eyes set on you. They been on you, but you’ve been too blind to see that,” he expressed.

I cringed at each word he let leave his mouth. Nix was someone I no longer found interest in and I never would go back to him. He had shown his true colors and I would never overlook them. He had fucked up with me in a major way. I hated him.

“Nix, it’s not like that between us anymore. You ruined your chances,” I stated with my head still turned away from him.

Tears were streaming down my face and I just wanted to get up out of there.

Nix rose to his feet and just stared down at me while I scooted back, still on the floor.

I had no clue what his intentions were. All I knew was that I didn’t want him to try to hurt me or fucking rape me. That alone sent fear throughout my whole body.

As Nix began to make his way towards me, there were a few knocks on the door.

Whew, I breathed as I watched Nix look at me with his brows raised, basically telling me not to move as he went over to the door.

“Hey, I need you to sign these papers.” The same girl that had left out of the office before me peeked inside.

The moment she saw me on the floor, she looked from me to Nix then began to slowly back out of the office, like she had seen this type of shit happen before.

“No, help me. Help me,” I screamed, as I rose to my feet and darted towards the door.

Nix quickly pushed the girl out and closed the door, but I wasn’t having that. Finding the nearest thing that I could get my hands on, which was a picture hanging on the wall, I pulled it down, and slammed it right across his head.

“Fuck.” He began to rub the back of his head and when he brought his hand back down in front of him, there was blood smeared all over his fingers.

My heart began to beat and it felt like I was having trouble breathing as I backed up.

Nix now wore an angry expression as he charged towards me, causing me to take off running.

“You’ve fucked up now,” he roared as we basically played cat and mouse around the desk.

“No, you’ve fucked up and when my nigga finds out, he is going to kill you,” I spat.

Picking up the desktop computer screen that was on his desk, I hauled it at his head causing it to miss his head. Nix ducked and crashed to the ground, which I took advantage off and ran straight to the door, escaping.

You could hear the sounds of my heels clicking, as I ran as fast as I could down the hallway, too scared to look back to see if he was behind me.

“Merci. Merci.” I could hear him yelling my name, but I wasn’t stopping until I was out of this fucking building and back in my car.

As I continued to run, there were people staring at me but none of them bothered to ask questions; instead, they continued to mind their business.
