JOLIE: Want to see my pussy?

That was not the Jolie I knew and had finally admitted I loved, not in a million years. Another text alert flashed up and I read the subject thread, almost choking on the cold beer I was drinking and afraid to open the actual picture text.

“All right there, Yan?” Sandir asked, patting my back.

“Ah, yeah.” No way in hell was he getting even the slightest glimpse of my screen.

  “Someone sending dirty messages?”

My eyes went wide as I stared at him. How the hell… Oh, cheeky fuckers. It was these bastards - they were having a laugh at my expense.

“Fucking A, Yannick. Who’s the lucky woman?” Greg grinned, then frowned when I slapped the back of his head.

Ignoring the lot of them, I glanced back down at the screen seriously debating whether I should open whatever the dirty gits had sent me. Why the fuck not? I resigned myself to the fact I was the butt of the jokes and seeing anatomical parts I had no intention of giving a passing glance to was just the order of the day. They were good blokes really, just trying to cheer my mopey arse up.

“If you’ve sent me something horrific, I swear you guys are buying for the rest of the month.”

“Didn’t send you fuck all, what you on about?”

I opened the picture message and burst out laughing the second I saw the image. Jolie, and she was showing me her pussy all right. A gorgeous peach coloured thing with moon eyes I fell for straight away, much like I had Jolie. Fuck, I missed her so damned much.

The picture was entirely perfect. Turning my phone around, I held it up so the rest of them could see, still grinning like a love-sick idiot.

“Hell, yes! Bunny came through. Told you,” Greg cried out.

“Well, fuckers. That’s why we didn’t place bets, duh. There was never any question.”

“You guys were putting bets on?” I asked, aghast.

  “I just said we didn’t.”

Who the hell cared? The texts were an invitation, an invitation to the rest of my life and not to see Jolie’s pussy, per se. Though I hoped there’d be a lot of that going on soon.

“At least you can stop bloody moping around now. Goddamn nightmare living with you,” Andrey muttered.

  “Do you like cats?”

I stared at Greg, his question so random and almost absurd. Pets I could take or leave. “Never had one,” I shrugged.

“Well, I guess you got one now.” Sandir pointed to the phone I still held in my hand. “If that isn’t a text telling you what she wants, then I don’t know what is.”

  “You think?”

“God, Yan. You’re bloody clueless about romance, aren’t you?”

“I was married to the ice queen for fifteen years, what do you think? What the hell was I meant to learn about romance through that time? All you guys do is fuck, wasn’t exactly going to take tips from you sluts either.”

“You don’t read them raunchy novels with the guys abs on the front?”

All eyes turned to Greg. “You read mummy porn?” Andrey asked, slightly amused.

“Fuck, no. And stop being insulting. Gay romance, and shit, it’s way hotter than an hour on Pornhub, believe me.”

  “Aren’t those books for women?”

“Well, I guess that answers the question of who’s on top in your relationships,” Sandir smirked.

“You lot are bastards. I don’t know why I put up with all your abuse. And no, books are for everyone.”

“Oh, well.” Andrey leaned back in his chair and eyed Greg. “Might have a try. Got any recommendations?” he asked with such seriousness even I couldn’t tell if he was yanking Greg’s chain or not.

Greg gave him both middle fingers. “You best reply to Bunny.” He nodded down at the phone.

“Oh, shit.” The screen lit up with the picture of Jolie and the cat again and I melted.

  ME: Cute! What’s his/her name?

Keep it casual, I could ask the heavier stuff another time, I just wanted us back to at least communicating and working in the right direction together.

JOLIE: Tinky. She’s gorgeous. I get to pick her up next week.

ME: She is beautiful. I’ve never had a pet before.

The reply wasn’t instant, and I debated sending another just to make sure she was still on the thread. Then I reminded myself not to push, this was on her terms, I’d walk as slow as she wanted, or run just as fast. Six minutes later, her reply came through and fucking hell was I the cat that got the cream or what?

  JOLIE: Want to share Tinky?

I wanted to share everything with Jolie, absolutely everything, including her cat. “She’s mine,” I mumbled, forgetting my surroundings.

  “You got the girl?”

My head snapped up to see the three of them observing me, waiting for an answer. “Yeah,” I blew out. “I really think I did. I got the girl.” Tears stung my eyes as I looked around the table. This was my future and Jolie had just made every single one of my delayed dreams come true. The weight of fifteen years tumbled from my shoulders and I tipped my head back and laughed while the tears streamed down my face. She was more than I deserved but I was going to make sure she never regretted allowing me into her life.

  “Lucky bastard.”

I really was. I had my club, my girl and now I had a cat. What more could a man want?
