About Last Night, page 8
“Lucia.” Matteo looked at his Rolex. “We’re leaving in fifteen minutes.” His voice was sharp. Behind him, the two other men exchanged a look.
“Looks like the boss has spoken,” I said with a little laugh, though I was anything but happy inside. Lucia’s eyes narrowed at me and she ran her hands down the front of her dress, cupping her breasts for slightly longer than was polite. I blushed and looked away from her. I could tell she was trying to intimidate me and make me feel small. That bitch didn’t know who she was messing with.
“You like a man who’s in control?” Matteo’s expression changed then and he gave me a little wink. I blushed at his words and looked over to see if Lucia had clocked on.
“My boss is a woman, so I don’t really know what it’s like to have a man in control.”
“I wasn’t talking about your boss,” Matteo replied. Lucia looked at him sharply.
“Are we going to go to the store when we leave?” She was speaking to Matteo, but had now turned to my father. “I think they’ve had a delivery of new stock today. I’ve had a very disappointing day.” She sighed and ran her hands down Matteo’s crisp white shirt. “Mama needs some extra treats today.” She ran her hands down to his belt and then stopped. She looked towards me and smiled evilly and then I watched as her hands fell to the front of his pants and rubbed lightly. “I’m in need of a big treat.”
“Aren’t we all?”
My words seemed to shock her. She froze and looked at me again. This time I could tell she was giving me a proper once over. She had dismissed me when I’d first approached them, but now she was taking notice.
“I doubt your day has been as disappointing as mine.” She spoke the words slowly and deliberately.
“I wouldn’t place any bets if I were you,” I answered, just as coldly.
“Emily, would you mind showing me where the restroom is?” Matteo took a step away from Lucia and gave me a look. “If you don’t mind.”
“I don’t mind.” I took a deep breath then led him through the living room towards the restroom.
As soon as we turned into the corridor, he grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“What do I think I’m doing?” I blinked at him. “I have no idea what you’re talking about, whore.”
“Are you calling me a whore?” His lips twisted up and he laughed. “Really?”
“This is the restroom,” I said as we stopped outside the door.
“Get in here.” He pulled me into the bathroom with him and shut the door, making sure to lock it before he pulled me towards him. “Fuck,” he muttered, then kissed me hard, his fingers wandering through my hair and pulling. His tongue tasted like cherries and I kissed him back hard, sucking on his tongue and running my hands along his back. His hands found my breasts and squeezed my nipples through my top. I moaned against him as I reached my hand down and felt his hardness through his jeans. He groaned against my lips and pushed me back slightly. He grabbed me around the waist and lifted me on top of the vanity.
“What are you doing?” I whispered as I stared at the front of his pants. I was turned on and horny and even though I was pissed off, I wanted to make that bitch, Lucia, pay.
“Shh.” He placed a finger against my lips then lifted my skirt up. Kneeling on the floor, he bowed his head between my legs and pressed his mouth up against my panties, nibbling on the fabric and blowing gently against them.
I leaned back against the mirror as my legs began to shake at his intimate touch. He pulled my panties halfway down my thighs with his teeth before grabbing them impatiently with his hands and pulling them all the way off. He slipped them into his pocket and winked at me. I moaned as his mouth fell back to my pussy and he started licking me and sucking on my clit. My hands found his hair and I closed my eyes, crying out as his tongue entered me. I bit down on my lower lip to stop myself from getting louder as he fucked me with his tongue. I squeezed my thighs tighter around his head, loving the way his stubble tickled me as he gave me so much pleasure. A part of me couldn’t believe that I was letting him do this to me after what I’d just found out, but I couldn’t stop myself. The animal magnetism I felt towards him was just too strong to resist. I gripped the counter as I felt myself close to coming and I cried out in despair as he slipped his tongue out of me.
“Shh,” he said again with a little wink. He pulled his zipper down and released his beautiful large cock. Before I could even blink, he’d pulled a condom out of his pocket and slipped it on. Then he grabbed my hips and pulled me forward slightly.
I gasped as his mouth found mine again, and before I knew what was happening, his cock was slamming into me. I cried out against his mouth as his cock started working its magic. He seemed to be going deeper and deeper with every thrust, and I gripped his shoulders tightly, feeling like I was about to fall off of the counter and into a world where time stood still. It only took about a minute for me to come and as my body convulsed in pleasure he started to slam into me even harder, coming just moments after me. He pulled out of me and then lifted me up off of the vanity and pulled my skirt down.
“Just showing you another reason why it’s better being with an older man.” He grinned as he zipped himself up. I stared at him, my face red as he winked at me. “Now, I need you to do me a favor.” He frowned. “Do not come back to the party for ten minutes. I’m going to leave, and I need you to not antagonize Lucia, do you hear me?”
“So I’m the little slut that has to hide out in the bedroom?”
“You’re not a slut.” He grabbed my hands. “I can’t tell you more, right now, Emily, I just can’t.”
“Tell me one thing, is my dad in trouble?” I asked him, praying to God that somehow I had it wrong and my dad wasn’t into anything too deep.
“Honestly, yes,” he replied. “I’m sorry, Emily, but I have to do what I have to do.” And with that, he walked away from me and opened the bathroom door. “Call me tonight.”
He pulled my panties out of his pocket, sniffed them, and then winked at me. My jaw dropped as he laughed and closed the door behind him, leaving me standing there in a state of confusion and worry.
I had no idea what trouble my dad had gotten himself into, but I was going to try my very best to get him out of it.
No matter what I had to do.Chapter Ten
I slipped out of the bathroom and headed to my bedroom to get a clean pair of panties. There was no way I was going to be hanging out in the living room panty free. I still couldn’t believe I’d just had sex in the bathroom with Matteo. It was perhaps one of the kinkiest things I’d ever done in my life and while a part of me was disgusted that I’d allowed him to fuck me, even though he’d lied, the other part of me felt high and excited. That was the problem with physical attraction. It made all of your sanity leave you. And I must have been 100% attracted to Matteo because every piece of sanity I’d ever owned had walked out the door the moment I met him.
“Emily, what the hell is going on?” Charlotte rushed over to me as soon as I walked back into the living room.
“What do you mean?” I said flushing, wondering if she knew what I’d just done.
“What do I mean?” She twisted her lips up and glared at me. “No need to be coy young lady. Your face is flushed and you look guilty as hell. When Matteo left just now, he looked like the cat that had just got the canary.”
“He left?” I felt disappointed at her words. Of course, I knew he was going to leave, but I had hoped to have seen him before he left. I wanted to see his friend as well, Lucia, to see if she could tell what we’d just done. I was going to hell. I really was.
“Yeah, he left about five minutes ago...” She pursed her lips. “And before he left he seemed to have a long conversation with your dad about something and your dad looked nervous.”
“He had the conversation or the two goons did?” I asked with a frown.
“He did.” She stared at me. “I know you’re attracted to him, Emily, but he’s just not a good guy.”
“We don’t know that, for sure.” I wasn’t sure why I was defending him as I was pretty sure he wasn’t a good guy at all.
“Emily.” She rolled her eyes. “I’m not going to get into this with you here, but we need to talk. Like really talk. Want to come over tomorrow?”
“So you and Max can tell me off?” I made a face. “No thanks.”
“No Max. Me and Anabel.” She grinned.
“Where is Anabel?” I frowned. “I thought she was going to be here.”
“She had some sort of continuance or something.” Charlotte shrugged. “I’m not sure exactly, but she sent her apologies.”
“Man, her job really sucks.” I sighed. “I wonder if she’ll be home tonight.” I wondered out loud. Anabel was my roommate but I barely ever saw her. When we’d left college, she had gone straight to law school and Charlotte and I had gotten a job. We’d all lived together for a year, but then Charlotte had gotten her own place and left Anabel and I to live together. When Anabel had graduated she had gotten a job in a big law firm and had started making six figures a year, I’d been worried that she would leave me to move to her own swanky apartment, but thanks to a hefty student loan balance, she had decided to remain in the same apartment with me. Part of me liked to think that she just didn’t want to move out and leave my company. It was funny because while Charlotte, Anabel and I were all close as best friends, Charlotte and I were the most open about our entire histories, whereas, Anabel was very tight mouthed about her childhood and previous relationships.
“Don’t go changing the subject, Em.” Charlotte shook her head. “This isn’t about Anabel’s job, this is about the mess your dad has gotten himself and you into.”
“I don’t know what’s going on, Charlotte.” I shook my head. “Matteo didn’t tell me.” I was thoughtful for a few seconds. “He did insinuate that my dad is in deep shit though.”
“Oh no.” She sighed and shook her head. “Are you going to speak to your dad about it?”
“No.” I bit down on my lower lip. “You know my dad won’t tell me anything. He’s so tight-lipped. It’s so frustrating.”
“So what can we do?”
“I have Matteo’s number now. I’m going to call him tonight and figure out what the hell is going on.”
“Do you think he’ll tell you the truth?”
“Honestly, I have no idea.” And I just looked at her with worry in my eyes. Everything was so complicated and complex and I had no idea just how dark and dangerous this situation could end up getting.
You ever get that stupid, mind racing, belly dropping, teeth biting, fingers itching, crazy feeling where you just have to have someone? No matter how many voices in your head are telling you to run away? No matter how many red flags are waving saying danger ahead, danger ahead? That’s how Liam made me feel. All it took was one smirk from his sexy juicy lips to have my heart pounding. And all it took was one night for me to realize that sometimes danger lurks in the places we can’t stop ourselves from going to. And even though I knew that the man I knew and had given myself to was not the man I thought he was, I still couldn’t stop myself from wanting him and getting to know him better. It was like there were two individual and distinct parts of me: one that wanted to help my dad and figure out what the hell was going on and another part that just wanted to be consumed by Matteo wholly and fully.
The clock struck 8PM and all I wanted to do was grab my phone and text Matteo, but I still wasn’t ready to contact him just yet. I was still mentally confused about the situation I found myself in. I was still trying to process how I could be so attracted to a man that was obviously walking the thin line between good and evil. I grabbed my phone and input my password to open the screen and started scrolling through my text messages. I was about to enter Matteo’s number from his plain black and white business card to text him when I stopped myself. If I was honest, I didn't really know what I was going to say to him. Everything was so weird and awkward and I didn't know if I trusted myself to keep my cool. I knew that if I was smart I should speak to Charlotte and Anabel before I did anything. I just didn’t know what to tell them without feeling like a fool. Because the hard truth was that I had so many emotions running through me when I thought about Matteo that I didn’t know how much my lust for him was blinding the way I was acting.
I closed my eyes and thought about everything that I wanted to say to him, everything that I thought he needed to know, everything that was in my heart. As a whole list of questions passed through my brain, I had to admit to myself that I was being stupidly delusional. Why would I think that one night meant anything to him? How could I admit to myself that one night had meant so much to me, but likely really didn’t mean anything? Obviously not having had any sort of commitment or intimacy with any other man in such a long time had made me lose my mind. And if I was honest with myself I had most probably never had such a fun intimate time with anyone before in my life, not even Jeff.
Have you ever noticed that when you really want to talk to someone time always seems to go so slowly? It's as if the time gods know that you want time to go faster and just to mess with you, the seconds seem to tick on even slower. I looked at my watch and hoped that many hours had passed but was disappointed to see that it had only been five minutes since I had last checked. Now I wished that I had given him my number so that he could be the one to call or text me. I didn't know what I was going to say to him and for some reason I was scared to find out that the man I'd made love to was not a good man. It shouldn't matter of course. It had only been one night and we hadn't even exchanged numbers. I'd never expected to see him again, though if I was honest that thought had disappointed me. I’d wanted to see him again. I'd hoped that one day I'd be walking down the street and he would also be walking down the street and we’d pass each other and our eyes would meet and we would both stop and laugh and say hello. Then we’d give each other an awkward hug and a sly once-over and then he'd ask me if I wanted to go for a drink. And of course I would say yes and then then we go to a seedy little bar and drink dirty martinis and spend the night laughing as we eye fucked each other. When midnight struck we would then go back to his place and have mad crazy sex. Then the next morning he would make me breakfast and then he would put his number into my phone. That had been the fantasy, the dream in my imagination, though I hadn't told Charlotte and Anabel that. In my daydreams, I’d thought that maybe he’d be an attorney or an accountant., He'd have some safe job, a little boring, but something that made a lot of money; not that I was a gold digger or anything. I certainly hadn’t fantasized or expected him to be in the Mafia. And while I didn’t know that for sure, from all accounts it looked like he was not only in the mafia, but the Mafia boss. The Don or whatever they called it. And I couldn’t imagine that that was a boring safe position. I knew that movies didn't show members of the Mafia in a positive light and I couldn't imagine that they were exaggerating that much. I'd heard and read stories about Al Capone and other mob bosses and I knew that violence was a huge part of Mafia culture. But when I thought about violence I just didn’t think that Matteo was someone that could be violent, he had treated me so beautifully. His hands had been so delicate when he’d touched me, so loving, and when we’d made love he had looked like he wanted to ensure that I was okay. Even when we fucked at the party, he had made sure I’d come first and he was the one asserting pressure on my father. It was hard for me to reconcile that the man responsible for bullying my father was the same man that I was so deeply attracted to. It angered me that I was so drawn to: his strikingly attractive looks, the alluring glint in his blue eyes, and his dangerous charming smirk. I wanted to listen to Matteo’s voice and sink into my bed, but I had to remember that the only reason I was calling him was to figure out what was going on with my father. I had to protect him. That was more important than anything else.
Growing up my father had always been loving and kind, even though he had never been successful and while I had always loved him I knew that a part of me had always been resentful towards him. I'd gone through so many ups and downs with my father during the years, what with his excitement over different inventions and new jobs that never seem to pan out. My dad had let me down so many times that a part of me just didn't really trust men anymore. That was why I loved my friends Charlotte and Anabel so much; they always had my back and everything they said they were going to do happened. And their love for me was never dependent upon the things that I could do for them. However, blood was still thicker than water and I knew I had to help my dad and get to the bottom of why he was up and moving to Florida.
I was scared to talk to Matteo, scared to find out the truth, scared that someone else was going to disappoint me greatly in my life. Which was ironic and stupid I suppose – because why should I even care? It was weird how much Matteo had gotten under my skin and I couldn't stop thinking about who the hell Lucia was to him. There had been one moment at the party when my eyes had made contact with her and if ever there was someone I would nickname the ice queen it would've been her. Yes she was beautiful but she looked like she didn't have a heart. I didn't know about Matteo but I could never be with someone who made me feel like being with them was like living in Antarctica.
As I sat there all I really wanted to do was cry and scream, but I knew that if I made too much noise Anabel would come to my room to see if everything was okay. I had asked Charlotte not to say anything to her about what had happened at my dad's party and even though I was going to tell her I wanted to do it in my own time. I knew that Anabel was worried about me and my relationship with my father. Having lived with me for a couple of years now she had seen the looks on my face after I'd gotten off the phone with my dad. She'd seen the disappointment in my eyes when yet another business venture had failed. She'd seen the tears when my mom had called me and told me about yet another job she'd gotten to help look after the family. I didn't want Anabel to think that my dad was a loser yet again and I certainly didn't want her to know about Matteo’s involvement. Anabel was such a goody two shoes that I felt like she would most probably want me to go to the police or something and that was not really something that I was interested in doing. I decided that I’d spent enough time moping and overthinking; it was time to call Matteo.
