Carrie forced her eyes open. She needed to see Devon. The pull she felt to watch Devon making love to her felt foreign and yet completely natural at the same time. Foreign in her past. Natural with Devon. Devon was unlike anyone Carrie had ever known. Her fingers wound themselves in the soft, blonde wave of Devon’s hair. Carrie had loved. She had. Carrie had never been in love—not like she was in love with Devon Brine. Loving was an intoxicating blend of exhilaration and tranquility. Carrie had never known that the two could exist in the same breath. As Devon made love to her, Carrie realized that ecstasy was defined by that possibility—safety amid vulnerability. Loving Devon was where that was found. Ecstasy was found in total surrender. Devon glanced up to meet Carrie’s loving gaze. Carrie felt her heart rise and swiftly fall in surrender.

Devon’s hands mapped out every inch of Carrie deliberately. She lowered her kiss to Carrie’s center, a breath away from tasting the woman she had fallen helplessly in love with. Devon felt the tender caress of Carrie’s fingers on her scalp and gently allowed her tongue to explore Carrie’s softness. Carrie’s head fell back onto the pillow. She was helpless to resist Devon. Devon was tender and loving, her hands and her tongue moving in time together so softly that Carrie thought she might explode from the emotional tide that was threatening to spill over. She called out to Devon. “Dev, I love you so much.”

Carrie’s words embedded themselves in Devon’s heart. She made love to Carrie as if she were kissing her, imagining Carrie’s tongue as it danced with hers. She was beginning to grow dizzy. Carrie’s sensual moans were sending small shock waves through her center. She could feel Carrie’s body as it began to quiver in a crescendo that Devon was certain would thrust them both into oblivion.

“Devon, please,” Carrie begged. Her body thrummed and hummed. Her heart was racing, and her throat had gone completely dry. Carrie had never wanted to let go before. In fact, she had feared it. So much so, she had always held back. When she did allow herself to fall, it had been akin to a leaf drifting slowly away from its branch. The drifting she had felt with past lovers could not compare to what Carrie felt with Devon now. Carrie was spiraling higher rapidly, and she was positive that she was going to crash just as violently. For once, she craved it. Devon sensed Carrie’s urgency and slipped inside of her with tender force. Carrie cried out as her descent began.

Devon held onto Carrie firmly as Carrie’s body shook violently. She wanted to continue. She wanted to take Carrie even higher, but she felt Carrie’s arms reaching for her and understood that what Carrie needed now was the safety of Devon’s arms. Devon pulled Carrie into her embrace just as Carrie’s tears broke forth. “Shhh,” Devon comforted her lover. “Carrie,” Devon kissed Carrie’s head. “I’m right here.”

  “I’m sorry.”

“No,” Devon silenced the apology. She shifted her position and looked at Carrie. “I’m not going anywhere.”

“I know,” Carrie confessed. “And, that scares the hell out of me.”

“Me too,” Devon admitted. “We’ll be okay,” she said.

  “Yeah?”

“Yeah,” Devon replied. “I’ve waited a long time for you; you know?”

  “For me?”

“Yeah. I just didn’t know you were you.”

  “Oh, shit!” Carrie sat up.

  “What?”

“We left all the groceries on the counter!”

“Who cares? Why, are you hungry?”

  “A little.”

Devon laughed. “So, we can always order a pizza.”

  “Pizza?”

  Devon shrugged.

“I’m going to be a thousand pounds. I can see it,” Carrie said.

“What are you talking about?” Devon asked. Carrie chuckled. Devon propped herself up to look at Carrie. “Oh, I get it.”

  “What?”

  “Making love makes you hungry.”

“Yeah, well, it is physical exertion, you know. You burn a lot of calories.”

Devon climbed on top of Carrie.

“What are you doing?” Carrie giggled.

“Well, I want to be sure we keep you on a diet plan. Calorie burning commence,” Devon said. She leaned in and kissed behind Carrie’s ear.

“God, help me,” Carrie took hold of Devon’s head. “I see a lot of pizza in my future.”
