  CHAPTER 18

The actual nerve of him! Natasha was so confused. He had the nerve to make it out like she meant something to him. He was acting like a jealous boyfriend. He had no right, he didn’t want her, she was the one who tried to keep them together, but her just let her go like she meant absolutely nothing to him. Natasha was so angry. If he wanted her, he needed to tell her, he needed to beg her to return to him, he needed to show her how sorry he was. Needed to prove himself to her. Not the way he was doing things. Not this way, hell no. He had no right to tell her who she could talk to, how she could act. This was her livelihood, she needed to get her name out there, she needed the world to be curious about her life. It was the only way she was going to survive her father giving away her millions. Nobody understood her predicament. She was stupid to have fallen in love with Isaiah. That was her downfall. Had she not felt anything for the idiot she would have been able to make this transition easily. She wouldn’t have cared what he had to say, she would have seen to ruining him. But there she was, totally in love with the one man who didn’t want her. Or maybe wanted her, he had a weird way of showing her he cared. That’s if he cared, hell she didn’t know anything from anything when it came to Isaiah. Natasha was not going into work, not looking like she was. Her face was bruised, she looked like she had received a beating of all beatings. It was humiliating to be seen this way. She could not seem to keep her life in check. She thought she was doing great, she wasn’t. Natasha believed that she was moving on and getting over being hurt by Isaiah, biggest lie ever. She was at a mega loss. It was so tiring to keep up this bullshit all the time. Isaiah was in her face, she tried to avoid him, but he was always there. They were bound to bump into each other. She gave up, she needed to set things straight with him. Isaiah needed to understand that she was her own person. Despite wanting to be with him like crazy, she would never allow him to hurt her again. She needed to shield her heart from him. Sure the sex was amazing, nothing in the world compared to that, the feeling of being one with him, the feeling of him wanting her so badly, it drove her insane, but that was it, it was purely sex. She would never ever let him rule her like before. She had given herself totally over to him and that was the reason she was so heartbroken now. He broke her… He broke her and she was still trying to put the pieces back together of her shattered heart. Natasha found him in the office, he looked so sexy, jeans, a simple black tee shirt, nothing fancy, but so bloody sexy. His body was to die for… His inked arms… “You okay?” He asked looking up at her. Natasha shook herself to keep from daydreaming. “Um, yeah… Yeah.” She was lost. Why was she here again? “You wanted something?” He asked her after a moment of pause. “Um…” Fuck. Get it together girl. “Yeah, I think we need to talk.” “Okay…” He was looking at her strangely. “Sit.” Natasha moved into the office and took a seat opposite him at his desk. “Look… We need to come to some sort of…” “Of what?” “It’s wrong. I can’t continue on like this. I can’t be here with you. I don’t know what you want, I don’t know what you think is going to happen… Or want to happen.” Isaiah rubbed his earlobe. He was thinking hard. “I want you.” Oh… How sweet. “Not going to happen. You hurt me.” “Yeah? And you hurt me first. Let’s call it even.” “I can’t do that. I let you into my heart… A first for any man…” “You told me you let me in for money.” Yep, she knew he was going to throw that back in her face. “I said what I had to. It doesn’t matter. We are never going to be. Not that way.” “Why?” “Why? You need to ask me that? You have it all. I have nothing.” “Here we go again. I have it all. What do you want? I have given you everything you want. You are getting a lot of fucking money, and when you want to purchase something ridiculously expensive I buy it for you. Pray tell me what more you could possibly want?” He did have a point. Truth was that it wasn’t about the money any longer. “It’s the principal of the matter.” “Oh bullshit. You don’t know what to say, you have nothing.” “Okay, well, I just don’t want to be with you.” She said lying through her teeth. “Are you sure about that?” He asked. She could tell he was becoming edgy now. “I have to be sure. We are wrong for each other. You and I… I guess it was fun while it lasted…” “You after what exactly?” He asked tilting his sexy head at her. “I’m after getting a life of my own.” “Right, and think to be dating and what not?” “You can’t be involved in my life. I have to move on.” “See, I don’t think I can let that happen Tasha… I have this thing where my jealousy seems to be taking a mind of its own… And I don’t think I can handle you being with anybody.” “Stop Isaiah. Enough. You are not doing this to me. I am not your property.” “You want to leave?” He asked tapping the desk. “You want to fuck off and live your life?” She didn’t know what she wanted. She wanted him to understand that he was not allowed to treat her this way. She was not going to let him control her. “I will ask you to stop being ridiculous. You are behaving like a madman.” “Don’t really know what you want me to say. I mean, I am telling you as plain as day that if you leave… If you go, I will not be responsible for my actions.” “You’re insane.” “Maybe.” “Isaiah, you are too much. I can’t be with you… You scare me.” “I will scare you so much more if you leave me…” She rolled her eyes at his logic. “Idiot.” She said shaking her head. “You tried to live with your mother, remember that? She killed your life.” “She wasn’t as bad as you.” Natasha mumbled under her breath. “Okay, look, how about you sleep on it. Have a think about it.” “I am not going to let you dictate my life.” She was over him not taking her seriously. “Don’t be a fucking flirt and I won’t need to dictate your life.” “I have to find a husband.” She blurted out. “Don’t you see? I’m almost twenty four, my time is limited. I need to get married. I am running out of time.” “What the fuck are you on about?” He looked very confused. “You’re twenty three… You have the rest of your life to worry about getting married.” “No… No I don’t. You are causing so much shit for me. I had a clear vision of how my life was going to end up, you screwed it all up. Why the hell did you have to come into my life?” She was pissed. “You came into mine remember? I was minding my own business.” “Oh you know what I mean.” She was frustrated now. He was doing her head in. “What’s the rush with marriage?” He asked in all seriousness now. “If I don’t find somebody to marry me soon, I will end up settling for anybody. I can’t do that. This is my time now. My mother was right, you are just delaying me from seeing to my future. I am nothing to you. I am just here because you told my father you would make sure I am okay.” “Your mother is such a wise woman. Has your best interest at heart? Marry a man you don’t love? You think you can do that?” “I have to do it.” She said shaking her head. “It’s my only chance.” “Okay, now you are pissing me off. Shut up. Your mother is a fucking moron as are you for listening to her bullshit.” “You have nothing to worry about, you sit here knowing the money will never run out. You have it all planned out. You want me to have nothing, you want me to stay here and beg for every dollar.” “Beg? What planet are you from? Beg? You are a fucking piece of work.” She frowned. “It’s just as bad as me begging. I have to ask for everything I want.” “Oh poor you.” He was mocking her now. Jerk. “Go die.” He pinched the bridge of his nose as he eyed her out. “Okay, you want to leave, go. You want to date, I will do my best not to interfere. Go. Go get married.” He said calmly. He was looking at her like she was insane. “You will stay out of my life?” “Yep.” “And I still get my money?” “Yep.” Oh… Well, did that mean he was giving up on her? “Okay. Thank you.” “You’re very welcome.” “You are not going to do anything are you?” “Nope. You have a free pass. Go… Be free.” That was a week ago. Natasha was unsure whether or not he was messing with her. She had not left the mansion yet, she wanted to find a place that was worthy for her to move. She found a gorgeous beach house. Worth a few million, she loved it. Natasha was going to insist that Isaiah buy it for her. That was the least he could do. He didn’t look too shocked when she spoke to him about it. “So, yeah. I want it.” “You want it? Just like that?” “Yep.” “You want to spend all that money on a house… You can live here. This is your father’s house, you grew up here…” “It defeats the purpose, I am trying to move on with my life. You promised you wouldn’t interfere.” “I’m not. You are involving me. You want me to buy it for you. How is that fair for me?” “Just buy it.” “I don’t think I will. You want to be a big girl and live out there, you can go ahead and work this one out on your own.” “That’s not fair Isaiah.” “I think it is. I will continue to do as we agreed. But that’s it.” “You are just power tripping it.” “I am not. I’m doing what I believe is right.” “Fine. Fine Isaiah. I’ll work it out.” She said pissed off. She didn’t care what it took she would prove to him that she didn’t need him. That she was doing it on her own. She had enough money to rent the place. She could do that, just until she figured out how to get the money to buy the property. It was so much harder than she thought. Natasha was in debt in no time at all. If word got around she would be shamed. Fuck! It was not enough, the money she was earning was not enough to cover her rent and her high style of living. She wanted to return to the mansion, especially after receiving a visit from the landlord’s goons. They warned her if she did make payment, they would get it themselves, any means necessary. Two big men at her door scaring the shit out of her. Natasha caught Isaiah at the hotel on a Friday afternoon. He was talking to the girls at the reception. “Isaiah. Can I have a word?” He was all professional. He nodded his head and moved away from the front desk. “In my office.” She said walking in front of him to the lifts. He followed her into the lifts and leaned up against the wall eyeing her out. Boy he was good looking. She felt her face colour and was so very glad when they reached the office. Isaiah walked in after her and took a seat on the sofa leaning back. “How can I help you.” “I’m in over my head.” She was not going to beat around the bush. “I am in so much debt.” “Right…” He was not giving a thing away. Jerk. “Isaiah. I owe so much money, I can’t do it.” “I see.” “Oh my god. I need your help.” “I’m sure you do. But that would mean I’m interfering in your life.” “Can you not be a dickhead?” “You are making it hard to want to help you.” “I don’t want to ask her for money.” She said daring to look into his dark eyes. “Her? Your mother?” “Yes, please don’t make me ask her. She is waiting for me to flop. She is pissed cause I didn’t marry one of her would be son in laws.” “But she has your best interest at heart right?” “Are you going to help me or not?” “Not sure yet.” “If you had just brought the house for me I wouldn’t be in this trouble.” “Or, if you just live by your means…” “That is my means.” She snapped. “You don’t think that maybe, just maybe you are okay with what you have? Why always wanting more?” “I don’t need this lecture. Will you help me or not?” “I will have to think about it.” “My landlord is an asshole. He sent two men to my house.” That got his full attention. “What?” “Said that if I didn’t pay up, they were going to come and take what I owe in any means necessary.” “This agent is private I’m assuming?” “Well, yeah…” “So he’s a drug dealer?” “No… I don’t know…” Um, he could very well be. Great. Just great. *** Isaiah stared at the world’s dumbest girl. She was just a fucking idiot. She was now caught up in some serious shit. He shook his head not getting why she always chose the hard way. “You don’t know…” “Well thanks a lot. Now I’m just scared.” She was blaming him? That was rich. “Yeah well, I guess you’re a big girl, you can handle this one on your own right?” “Seriously?” Oh she was just too much. She expected him to run to her rescue? She was the one who wanted to leave? Wanted to venture out on her own. “And how do you suppose you pay me back?” “What? You know I can’t pay you back? It’s my fucking money.” She snapped. He raised an eyebrow at her. “Oh I beg to differ.” “Isaiah, I… What if they come back?” “Oh well…” She looked at him with her big blue eyes as though shocked to hear him say that. “You are not going to help me?” Isaiah shook his head at her. “Nope.” “For real?” She was not getting it. “For real. I’m sorry Tasha, but you wanted to be out in the big world, there you go. It’s not as pretty as you believed it to be right?” She was going to cry. He could see her try and swallow back her tears. This was good, it would teach her a lesson. “So what? You are going to sit back and let them hurt me?” “I am only doing what you want. I am staying out of your life. I’m keeping right out of it babe.” “Okay. Well… I guess I was wrong to come to you.” “I guess so.” He said getting up. “Is there anything else?” She was freaking out. He was waiting for it. He wanted her to beg for his help, just to teach her that she needed him. Teach her not to think that she was better than him or anybody else. “No.” She said. Her voice sounded defeated. She wasn’t going to ask anymore? Oh… Well. “Okay then… I’m off.” He said as he walked out of the office. The first thing Isaiah did was call to find out who was the landlord. He had a good old chat to this asshole and warned him if any harm was to come to Natasha that he would be a dead man. Isaiah then followed through and paid the man. He told him not to say anything to Natasha, to deal with him from now on. He warned him again that if anything was to happen to her, he would not stop to ask questions, they would all be dead. Isaiah knew that Natasha was scared to go home. He wanted to know if she as dumb enough to return home. Did she think she could take on the goons? She was stupid like that, didn’t think of what was to come. He wasn’t too shocked when she showed up at the mansion that same day. “Hey… What you doing here?” He asked as he pretended to be busy looking through his phone. He was in the living room when she walked in. “Can I stay here for a few days?” “What?” He asked looking up at her. He was elated that she was back. “Can I stay here? I’m… I need to work out how to get the money to pay for the rent.” “You are doing it again Tasha. Involving me. We have discussed this.” “Oh shut up. I’m staying.” She said flopping down onto the sofa beside him. “Ever since I laid eyes on you again, my life has gone to shit.” She said. She was speaking to herself. “Right, and it’s been an absolute blast being around you too.” He said clearly mocking her. “What am I going to do? Can’t you just pay him? I’m afraid to return.” “I can pay him, but I won’t.” He loved how troubled she appeared. “Isaiah…” She was whining. Oh god kill him now. Anything but that tone… “Nope, you made your bed you can lie in it.” “You are a jerk. You need to go and die.” “Yeah, I’m gonna help you so much with that attitude.” “Whatever.” She sat there and look into his eyes. “I’ve had a few offers of marriage.” She was lost in thought. He didn’t like hearing that. “Yeah?” “Yep… I should just go with it. I mean… Why not. They can solve this dilemma for me.” “Have them pay for the rent you owe? You would marry them for that?” “Well, it’s that or die. They will hurt me. You didn’t see these guys.” “Wow, you are so smart.” She squinted her blue eyes at him before she spoke again. “I need to borrow your gun. I think I need protection.” He laughed. He couldn’t help himself. He had to laugh. She was so stupid at times that it was downright adorable. “What? Shut up.” Again in that whiny tone. “You with a gun? Yeah okay.” “They are going to hurt me!” Natasha was frustrated. Isaiah laughing at her didn’t help matters. “Well, you should have known better than to leave. I mean you left and returned how many times now?” “You think I like that you are my only option?” She was getting herself worked up. “You think I like having nowhere else to go?” She was upset for real now. “So what you’re saying is that you need me.” “I need you because you and my father plotted this entire shit.” “But you need me?” “Yes idiot. Yes I need you.” He smiled as he put his arm around her shoulders and moved her into his body. She was adorable. “I’ve paid them.” He said wanting to get her out of her mood. She gave him a what the hell look. Her face changing once she realised she had just admitted to needing him and carrying on. “What?” “I paid them.” “Oh… You son of a bitch! You let me think that they are coming for me?” “I should have let you think that for longer. You are a stupid fool to think you can deal with people like that. You are putting yourself in a lot of danger. You don’t think, you just do what’s in your head and then when it doesn’t work out you have no way of fixing it. Time to grow up babe.” “Marry me.” She blurted out. It took a while before it registered what she had said. Isaiah cursed under his breath. “No.” “Why? Why not? Don’t make me marry somebody I don’t know. Just marry me and that’s it.” “What do you mean that’s it?” “It means that I don’t have to keep going like this.” “And what do I get out of it?” “What?” “Me? What do I get out of it?” He could see her thinking hard. “You will have me.” Oh how very modest of her. “You want me right?” “Want you? Yeah… Yeah I want you, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to marry you. Do you honestly believe that I am that stupid?” “Stupid? To marry me?” She sounded shocked by his question. “Stupid not to get you to sign a prenup.” “Oh my god. Really?” “Truly.” “It’s my money.” “Nope, it’s mine.” She shook her head and shoved him away from her hard. “Why my father loved you I have no idea.” She snapped as she made her way up and left him sitting there. He knew she was going to her room to have a cry. He let her be. Marry her? What planet was she from. He knew the minute he mentioned the prenup she would not be into that plan any longer. She was funny. She thought all her problems would fly out the window if she got married. No idea where she got that information from… Her mother… Her mother must have filled her head up with this shit. Isaiah walked into her room later that night and found her asleep. She was gorgeous. He couldn’t’ help himself, he moved into the bed beside her and pulled her into his arms. She moaned something before nuzzling her face into his neck. Fuck she was cute. “Tasha… You asleep?” He asked stroking her face. “Tasha… You asleep?” “What? Yes, what?” She was trying to open her eyes. “I’m sleeping. Get lost.” “Oh. I did ask you if you were asleep.” He said kissing her nose. She didn’t pull out of his arms, if anything she seemed to make herself more comfortable before falling asleep again. Isaiah’s heart hurt like hell. She was killing him. He wanted her to be here with him so bad. But she was not the right girl for him. Too high maintenance. He could not do it, she would have him in the grave before his time. The following morning he found her looking at him. She was sitting up in the bed and was looking at him as he slept. “Morning.” He mumbled stroking her bare legs. His dick jolted to life. Natasha slapped his hand away. “Okay.” “Okay what?” It was too early in the morning. She needed to be a little more specific. “I’ll marry you and sign the prenup.” Okay, way way too early for this shit. “Tasha…” He shook his head and made his way out of the bed. “What? I’ll sign it.” “No.” “No what?” “No I’m not going to marry you.” He snapped. “Why not? I can’t take your money… Not if I sign the contract.” “Tasha, enough.” “Enough? What’s the reason you won’t marry me?” “Just stop already.” Isaiah left her and made his way out of the room and down the stairs. She just fucked his morning up. Natasha followed him down the stairs. She was not done. “You are a real asshole! You keep going on and on about wanting me. About me returning to you.” “Returning to me… Not fucking marrying me.” “So what? I’m good for a lay here and there and that’s it?” “Tasha, for the love of god, stop.” “Fine. I will marry Carlos. I have made up my mind. I did try, you can’t say I didn’t try right?” She was fucking with his head now. She needed to stop. “Okay, you do that.” She looked at him as though really hurt. “Yep, thank you. This was exactly what I needed.” “You are a fucking idiot.” He snapped hating that she was even talking about this Carlos. “I sure am. The fact that I came to you… Biggest idiot alive.” Isaiah didn’t know how to fix this. She wanted it all. Natasha actually believed that life was her telling people what to do and everybody doing it. Isaiah didn’t stop her when she left that day. She needed to get her head screwed on. He didn’t think she would be stupid enough to take this marriage thing further. He would wait and see what her next move would be. Isaiah was not going to freak himself out just yet. He would wait patiently and see what she was planning to do now. He didn’t have to wait long to find out. Natasha gave in her resignation a few weeks on. Isaiah was shocked to his core. This bitch wasn’t fucking around. He met her at the office on her last day. “What the fuck Tasha?” “I’m out of your hair. You should be happy with that right?” “What the hell are you doing?” “Getting ready for my big day.” “You are really going to see this through?” “Yes. Now, if there is nothing else…” She was leaving. It felt like somebody had spilled icy water down his spine. Isaiah was about to lose his mind. “You are making a big mistake babe.” He needed her to wake the hell up. “It’s my mistake to make. I won’t be seeing you after today. I am going to be a married woman.” “You’re are insane, this is not going to fix anything.” “I am leaving all of this behind.” “Leaving this all behind?” “Need a fresh start.” Isaiah could do nothing but watch her leave.
