Research geneticist Andrew Collier returns to his homeland, the strange and isolated island of Nakoa, purchased by his family in 1850 during the selling off of the Hawaiian lands. Known locally as the Mystery Island, this dark and cut off place becomes the perfect spot for him to conduct his obsessive genetic research, and in a make shift laboratory he builds in the homestead’s back yard he attempts to coax one of earliest known life forms, cyano-bacteria, to mutate and rapidly re-evolve into the next known biological life form, the worm.
