His Rejection, page 9
The last test, I thought. I opened the bathroom door and nearly fell out. It was literally spotless. I turned to him with accusing eyes.
“Who d'you get to do this,” I asked.
“What makes you think someone else cleaned it. Why couldn't I have done it,” he answered faking hurt. He had dropped the bags in the middle of the floor and kicked the door shut. I smiled at his eagerness, but I just kept staring at him. I wanted the truth.
“Okay. I got the Omega and his wife to do it for a hundred dollars,” he confessed. I giggled. “What,” he asked.
“You did all that just to try to impress me?”
He scoffed and smacked his teeth, “No.”
I began to stare at him again. He avoided my gaze, but I knew that wouldn't last long because ten seconds later he sighed and threw his hands up in frustration.
“Okay, so I did it to impress you. I knew you were a bit freaked out by the mess, so I got them to clean my room and bathroom.”
“Aww,” I cooed smiling. “Was that so hard?”
“Yes,” he mumbled. Irritation dancing lightly in his voice, but a smile was slowly forming on his lips to show he liked the attention I was giving him.
I giggled. Male wolves were in a sense like dogs. You show them attention and they were willing to do any and everything to make their masters, or well in my case, mates happy. But as soon as they misbehaved you shove their face in the mess, or in my case just leave until they realized what they did was wrong. Maxon chuckled. I knew he would've been listening to what I had to say. I was going to start putting up blocks.
“That's not fair.”
“What's not,” I asked dumbly.
“You can read my mind, but I won't be able to read yours'.”
“It's okay baby,” I purred. “I'll teach you how to block your thoughts,” I told him as I wrapped my arms around his neck. It wasn't easy either. Maxon stood a whole foot and a half taller than me, so I was on my tippy toes.
Seeing me struggle, Maxon picked me up and wrapped my legs around his waist. We now faced each other, inhaling each other’s scent. I leaned my head on his, waiting for him to make the first move, I had gotten us this far he could at least do some work. He growled and smashed his lips onto mine. Our lips began to move in sync, me making his pace and then him making mine.
I broke the kiss after some minutes to catch my breath, while Maxon took this time to travel down my neck. He planted little kisses here and there and then every so often gave my neck a little lick.
“Maxon,” I moaned into his neck.
We were now both attacking the other's neck, daring each other to go the next step. I gently nibbled on the sensitive area where my mark would go, he growled fiercely and threw me against the wall.
He ripped off my shirt and bra all in one fluid motion. I mentally sighed. I liked that bra.
I'll buy you another, he promised. Even his mental voice was thick with desire, so I wondered what his voice sounded like. He was still attacking my neck.
The feelings running through my body were sharp and direct. There was no confusing them. Lust and Desire and... Love. I slowly realized that this was it. This was the moment when I truly became his and he mine, the moment where our lives would be forever intertwined together. The moment when he would become the only man I ever saw.
I let out a squeal-like moan and that seemed to have excited him more because his already long, thick, hard... um uh... package? Yeah, package grew even longer, thicker, and harder.
Yup and it's all yours. And it's going inside of you, he said. My wolf and I shivered at the thought.
Suddenly, I couldn't wait until that moment happened. I moved his face back to mine and sexily licked his bottom lip causing him to do the sexiest growl/groan/moan I would ever hear. I ripped off his shirt as he began to take off his pants and boxers. I reached down to take off my jeans but somehow had he gotten me completely naked in the process without me feeling it.
Fates, that was sexy, I thought. So here we were, both completely naked, and I firmly planted on a wall with him armed and waiting to shoot into me.
“Maxon.” Fates, was that me?
“Yes,” he asked. Yep. His voice sounded the same.
“Are you sure you want this,” I asked. Just to make sure. It wasn't like I was trying to stall or anything...
“Yes. I swear on my life that I want this. I want you. Are you sure,” his voice dripped sincerity. That was all the confirmation I needed. I nodded my head as I smiled. His eyes lit up. He brought his lips to mine slowly and passionately kissed me.
“Do them both at the same time,” I murmured against his lips.
Nodding his head in understanding, he positioned himself better and then placed his lips where his mark would go and so did I. Just soon as he was about to thrust there was a knock on the door.
Maxon growled loudly, but whoever was at the door wasn't going away. I sighed angrily and shouted, “Who is it?”
“It's Alex.”
“Dude! I swear if you don't have a great reason for this, I'm so going to kill you,” Maxon growled.
“What's wrong Alex,” I asked ignoring Maxon.
“It's Noni,” he sounded worried. I quickly went through Maxon's drawers until I found a t-shirt big enough for me to use as a dress and pulled open the door completely forgetting that Maxon was still naked.
“Nova,” he shouted as he ran to the bathroom.
Sorry, I sent to him. I turned my attention back to Alex.
“What's wrong with Noni?”
“She's fighting and I can’t get her to stop.” I laughed. Is this it really?
“Fighting who,” I asked giggling. I heard Maxon growl from the bathroom.
Still sulking Loverboy, I asked Maxon.
It's not funny Nova! I have been waiting for months to be with you, but we have interruptions, he whined.
We have time Maxon, I assured him. He seemed happy with that answer, so I turned back to Alex. I was about to speak until I heard a crash.
“What the hell was that,” Maxon, and I screamed at the same time.
“Noni and Natalie fighting,” he said as he shot off down the steps with me hot on his tail. That bitch Natalie was about to learn a valuable lesson.
chapter 13
Nova
Alex and I raced down the steps. With me forgetting that I was only in a t-shirt, I was bound to get a ton of stares, both good and bad, and have one angry Alpha coming down the steps for revenge. There were now kids joining around the girls fighting, and from the looks of things, Noni was winning.
There was blood all over the floor, but I couldn't tell whose it was. Noni's, Natalie's or maybe both. I pushed my way through the kids and pulled Natalie and Noni apart. Once Noni realized it was me, she calmed down, but Natalie just got angrier. She was swinging wildly, making herself look crazier than she already was.
“If I'm hit, you're going to have two pissed wolves on your ass. So, I suggest you calm that down,” I told her. I didn't use my Luna tone just yet. I wanted to see what the real problem was, because knowing Noni, she could've started it.
Maxon
I was completely livid. How'd we get so close, but fail, I asked my wolf.
He didn't even answer, he just kept growling. Somebody was in for it. I knew Nova, Alex, and Noni couldn't catch hell, but I knew of a few who could. Natalie being one. I reached down to pick up my shirt, instead, I pulled up pieces of my shirt, and the same went for my jeans. I sighed.
It did get heated in here, I mused to myself remembering and fantasizing about what could have been. I was yanked out of my memories by the sound of something shattering again.
“Oh no. I swear that better not have been what I think it was,” I growled to myself. I pounded down the stairs wearing only my pajama pants. I could hear my baby talking.
“If I'm hit, you're going to have two pissed wolves on your ass. So, I suggest you calm that down,” she told who I'm guessing was Natalie.
“You bet your ass you will,” I added cosigning under my breath.
I doubt anyone could hear me though. All they heard was Noni and Novas’ French babbling. I could only make out a few words like bikini, Alex and goodies. Only the Fates know what they could be really talking about.
The closer I got the angrier I got. There was blood on the crème rug that my mom had brought, glass from the coffee table was everywhere, and a vase was broken. I inhaled deeply and stiffened. I smelled Chanel perfume and ashes.
No. No. No. No, I screamed in my mind.
Instead of heading over to where Nova was, I followed the smell. I pushed people out of the way until I saw it. What I was hoping it wasn't it was. I knelt on the floor and picked up the pieces of glass. Therefore, I never allowed fighting in the house.
“Shit man,” I heard someone say. I looked up and saw Alex holding Noni looking down at me. I turned back to the ashes on the floor.
“Hey bro, are you OK,” he asked.
I shrugged my shoulders. My emotions were all over the place. I was angry, hurt, sad, everything all at once. I heard a huge intake of air and suddenly felt arms going arms my neck. I was numb to the feelings.
“I'm so sorry Maxon. I didn't know,” Noni apologized.
I shook my head to silence her. I mean I was mad at her, but it was all her fault and she's right she didn't know, but Natalie did. She knew not to fight in the house; in my house, she knew what was in this vase. She knew it was my mother's ashes she knocked over…
“Natalie,” I growled. I could hear the whimpered that left her lips.
“Everyone who wasn’t involved clear out. NOW,” I shouted using my Alpha tone. Everyone shuffled out. Nova got up to leave, but I grabbed her arm and held her in place. I was going to need her to keep me calm.
“How come she gets to stay,” Natalie sneered. Nova growled.
“Because she's my mate, Natalie. But that's beside the point. Look at what you've done,” I growled gesturing the bits of glass left on the floor and the ashes.
“Ok she,” she said pointing to Noni, “made me knock plant dirt on the floor. Give me a broom and I'll clean it up,” she finished nonchalantly.
Nova and I both growled this time, but she was the only one to speak. I didn't trust my voice.
“Are you sure you're even a werewolf? Can you not smell that those are ashes, his mother's ashes,” she struggled through her teeth. Novas’ voice was tight. I could hear the anger in her voice. I knew most of it was coming from me, she was supposed to be calming me down, but Natalie had that effect on anybody and everybody.
“This has nothing to do with you reject. This is between me and my Alpha.”
“I am your Luna,” Nova said with power. It almost brightened my mood to hear her confirm something that hasn't even happened.
“I see no mark,” Natalie replied.
“Well, we were interrupted,” Nova came back, looking pointedly at her.
“Back off bitch he's mine!”
“Are you even listening to what the hell is being said? She's my mate, Natalie. And there was never a point in time when I was yours,” I spoke fiercely.
“We were working on it,” she whispered.
“You're delusional! You were just all over Alex,” Noni chimed in.
“Listen cow, you and fatty over there aren't even a part of this pack so your voices don't need to be heard. Why don't you go back to where you came from,” Natalie spoke.
Her words were only adding fuel to Novas’ fire. Her emotions were coming in clear to me, and all they said were killed.
“Yeah well, we're not going anywhere bitch. And let me make this crystal for you, if you even think about touching Maxon or my brother again I WILL KILL YOU where you stand and not think twice about it,” Nova warned her. I had to admit that even I was frightened for a moment, but once that feeling was gone my wolf and I was extremely turned on.
“Oh yeah if she's your mate why didn't you know months ago? Why are you just getting together now,” she asked. Nobody answered that question. We all just stared at her quietly.
“Oh. I get it he rejected your fat ass then, so you thought that you lose a little weight, dye your hair, wear skimpy clothes and come back.” I could tell that Natalie struck a nerve. Novas’ already hot skin began to boil, and her face was turning red. This was going from bad to worse to a big fucking nightmare. I tightened my grip on Nova to make sure she didn't lash out at her.
“YOU STUPID BITCH! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN US SO JUST STAY THE FUCK OUT OF IT. STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM US AND GO DIE, YOU ARTIFICIAL BIMBO,” Nova screamed. Her full was in full Luna mode. It made even Alex and Noni tremble. Natalie had taken a few steps back and her eyes were as wide as a jawbreaker.
“Nova babe. Calm down,” I whispered gently in her ear. I could feel her relax slightly. But when Natalie growled at our closeness, she tensed up again. Nova broke free of my grip and hurled herself at Natalie, I went to reach for her but again Nova was just so much faster than me.
Nova sidestepped me and made her way to Natalie grabbing her by the hair and dragging her out of the house and into the backyard. She slung her into the open space. Everyone was looking on and walking trying to figure out what was happening. Nova must have noticed all the wondering stares.
“Natalie here thinks she is the Alpha's mate,” they were a few laughs that rang throughout the pack, “she's wrong. I am the Alpha's mate and therefore your Luna.” she announced, looking at every onlooker in the crowd.
“YOU ARE NOT HIS MATE! I AM,” Natalie screamed again. Nova totally ignored her and continued talking. “So, since she thinks she is his mate we are going to fight for the right.” Everyone gasped, including me, and gathered around waiting for it to begin.
Nova
“Pick your form,” I said to her.
“Wait, we both didn't agree to this,” she whimpered cowardly. I scoffed. She was wasting my time, time that could be better spent with Maxon, in my new bed in my new home.
“If he is your mate, you would surely want to fight for him,” I replied sweetly.
She looked from me to Maxon and then back to me. “Fine. Wolf.”
“I think I'll just stay in my human form,” I replied nonchalantly.
This was going to be a piece of cake. Natalie was a weak wolf, and if I remember correctly, she was just too good to go to training with everyone else. So, she was horrible in combat. The gasps and laughter throughout the crowd fueled my desire to win. I was going to show all these bastards that teased and tormented me, that I wasn’t one to be messed with.
“Your funeral. It is to the death right,” she asked.
“If you feel like dying today then yes.”
“To the death.”
“Okay,” I said watching her shift. She was a dingy brown colored wolf with dull gray eyes. There was nothing special about this girl in any way.
Maxon announced that the fight had begun, which caused Natalie to charge at me. First mistake. She jumped in the air trying to land on top of me, but instead in caught her midair and slammed her into the ground. Now werewolves were strong, but I was stronger and faster even in human. She struggled under my grip trying to claw at me but couldn't reach.
“Not so easy huh,” I whispered in her ear.
She growled and used all her might to push me aside so she could stand up, scratching my arm on her way up. I could hear Maxon growl, but I just wiped at the blood and kept going.
She lunged at me again, not understanding that she wasn’t fast enough to catch me. We had been doing this for at least thirty minutes. She was tired, and I was tired of the onlookers shouting things for us to do. Especially the teenaged boys, I was only wearing a t-shirt that was almost completely shredded.
“Stop playing with her Nova! End this,” Noni shouted. I laughed and lunged for her neck using all my strength. She shifted and yelped. Pinning her down, choking her I screamed, “Do you yield?”
“Yes,” she shouted.
“Leave Maxon and Alex alone,” I growled at her. She nodded and got up and ran into the woods, but I knew this was far from over.
This won't be our last fight with her, my wolf said. I nodded my head in agreement.
She was weak. We didn't even use our gifts.
Yeah, but something was off about her wolf. She didn't quite smell right. Did you notice, my wolf asked me.
I did when we were in the house and I was in her face, I remembered.
“Nova,” Maxon said snapping out of my internal conversation. I looked up at him with questioning eyes. “I want to clean your cuts and we have to start getting dressed.”
“OK. But they already starting to heal.” I ran up to him and jumped onto him and landing into his arms. He smiled and carried me bridal style into the house, but I couldn't get past the feeling that I, we were being watched.
Unknown
I watched as she jumped onto him, smiling. She was so happy. I wanted that. I wanted to be him. I wanted to love her despite what she was. Despite what she does. We had all heard stories of Nova.
The things she did to rogues and vampires alike were already legendary. You could say I was a huge fan. I wanted to be her mate, and I wanted to spend the rest of my life making her happy, but I knew she wouldn't want me. She just fought for her mate and won. I stiffened when I heard someone running towards me. I got on the defensive and braced myself.
“Who are you,” the voice asked with a growl.
It was the girl who had just lost. It must have been difficult to deal with the embarrassment of losing a fight and not being able to die like you were supposed to. But it wouldn't matter to her what wolf customs were, because she wasn’t a wolf.
“What are you,” I asked.
“I asked you first.”
I thought for a moment. Trying to figure out the best answer, and when I thought of it, I smiled.
“I'm the guy that's going to help you get what you want.”

Maxon
