Telepath

ARNOLD ASH, in his own opinion, was an unsuccessful writer, vaguely dissatisfied with his lot, and equally vaguely reconciled to being a man of no particular note. His first experience with telepathy shook him badly. He was astonished, frightened, repelled and fascinated. His partner in this experience—for obviously it could not be a one-sided matter—was also badly frightened. And outraged at the invasion in which her own mind was the chief betrayer.Ash agreed never to see her again, and there the matter might have rested if he had had an even moderately good opinion of himself. But he did not. This new-found ability represented a power he could not bear to ignore. He desperately needed to know more about it, and he thought he didn’t particularly care what happened as long as he could find out what the power could mean. In learning about himself, Arnold Ash grew up—and discovered his self was like no other human before him.
