Janus the Arrival (The Janus Trilogy Book 1), page 4
From that moment on, Janus kept pondering the situation over in his mind and was not prepared to continue putting up with the dreams for much longer. What he saw as a possible solution suddenly came to him out of the blue one evening. He’d been busy looking through some paperwork he’d been putting off for a while, when all of a sudden the answer appeared all too obvious. He then knew that he had to get in contact with Vicky as soon as possible. There was certainly some sort of link. It all made much more sense when he thought it over. The woman was definitely hiding something, and he needed to find out exactly what it was, no matter what she thought. He still resented the way that she’d rejected him, but putting that aside, the fact remained that he desperately needed answers.
Having slept unusually well that night, he was pleased that he’d finally made a definite decision. As soon as the morning arrived, he leapt from his bed, showered and set about working out the finer details of his plan.
It wasn’t until the following night that the young man’s darkened figure climbed up over a gate and crept along a well-used gravel path, as he set about his approach to the silent house. Using a screwdriver that had been purposely placed in his pocket, he entered the building through an old sash window, which led from the back garden directly into the main bedroom. Having lowered his feet to the floor without making any noise, Janus gazed at his surroundings and sensed a strange familiarity with quite a lot of the artefacts lying around. He realized immediately, that Vicky must also have studied the eastern cultures at some time. This only helped confirm his suspicions about the woman even further, and he then felt fully justified in the actions he was taking, as he settled down and lay in wait for her eventual return.
Fortunately, the waiting didn’t last very long, as ten minutes later he heard the distinct sound of a key turning in the lock of the front door. Having never been a great believer in beating around the bush, Janus decided he’d go straight for the direct approach. The instant the woman set foot in the room, he boldly strode over and stood directly in front of her. The two of them faced each other in silence for what seemed like an eternity, and although he’d half expected her to scream or react in some form of protective manner, she never did. Janus found that extremely odd behaviour indeed and automatically reached out to probe her mind to find out why. Searching for some kind of answer, all he could sense at first, was the fact that she’d been expecting him for quite a while. This in itself, explained to a certain degree, why she hadn’t reacted to his intrusion, but he certainly needed a lot more than that.
Once the pressure had finally eased off, Vicky casually turned and walked away to hang her coat up in the bedroom before reaching under the bed to retrieve her slippers. This was one of her simple pleasures in life, and she wanted to feel more comfortable for what was about to occur.
On re-entering the living room, she found that Janus was already sat at the far end of the sofa. Catching the look of satisfaction etched across his face, which could easily have been interpreted as one of extreme arrogance, she simply walked over and slumped herself down beside him. It wasn’t long before they were deep in conversation, and they spoke together as if they’d known each other for years.
Janus couldn’t help but notice how she tried her best to avoid direct eye contact the majority of the time, while he went ahead and updated her on everything that had happened since their last meeting. However, it was the moment he mentioned the letters DNZ that the expression on her face changed completely. This was immediately followed by a slight hesitation before her next words were finally released.
‘I guess the time has come for you to know the truth. There’s not much point in delaying any of this any longer.’ She stated.
Vicky then stood up and reached for a somewhat ancient looking book from the bookshelf beside her, before blowing off a layer of dust that had settled along the top of the cover.
What followed would have sounded unbelievable under any normal circumstances, but this was a very unusual state of affairs, and so Vicky sat back down and got ready to explain.
‘A large range of mountains exists along the Chinese, Tibetan border, in which an unidentified flying object was reported to have crash landed over twelve thousand years ago. For some unknown reason, the whole incident was conveniently forgotten about until 1938, when a group of children from a local village were playing around in a set of caves. Returning home, they then talked about seeing some strange dead monsters inside one of the chambers, which of course surprised the parents but got everyone talking. It was only by coincidence that a group of archaeologists led by Professor Chen Lee just happened to be in the local area conducting an expedition, when they first caught wind of the story.’
Looking up, Vicky couldn’t help but notice an inordinate amount of concentration, mixed with a total look of astonishment imprinted on his face, just before she carried on.
‘Evidently the children were quite innocently playing a game of hide and seek, when without warning, one of the boys started to scream and suddenly burst into tears. Naturally the others ran over to where he’d been standing, and were quite amazed to find he’d fallen into a hole in the ground. It appears that he was trapped up to his waist surrounded by a large amount of earth, which seemed to worsen every time he struggled to get free. The story explains that it had taken all of their combined strength to pull him free and it was only at that point that they noticed the monsters lying buried below. After tracking down two of the older children, Professor Lee managed to retrace their steps, which led him and his colleagues to a very complex network of caves. Once inside, it appears that they eventually confirmed the story, having located a set of partially hidden graves, which really motivated them all even further, as you can imagine. A delicate operation followed from then on, with all sorts of equipment being required to do the job properly. Fortunately the Professor had excellent financial backing due to his previous successes and after many months of careful digging, the graves and the surrounding areas were finally unearthed and found to contain some very peculiar looking bodies.’ Janus was totally captivated as she pressed on with the amazing story.
‘The excitement could not be put into words, as it turned out to be one of the most important finds of all time. Further investigations established the bodies were not of human origin and although the work continued under the Professors strict guidance, governments, politicians and scientists all started to take a much bigger interest. This was even more so, when a series of further excavations uncovered a well preserved collection of large stone discs. These were fully examined, following a great deal of controversy and red tape from various authorities, but eventually they were found to exhibit a whole set of unknown inscriptions on them, which also included something that appeared to represent the letters DNZ.’
Janus immediately looked up as she paused to take another breath. He could also sense the hardship and torment in her mind. At that point, he realised just how hard this whole thing was for her to do.
‘These I can confirm, are the initials of a species known as the Dra-Na-Zee.’ she continued. These are also the exact same letters as those you’ve been seeing in your dreams!’
At first, Janus sat in silence not wishing to speak. He found the whole thing so extraordinary. He took a few minutes to ponder over what he’d just been told before finally turning to Vicky and then accusing her.
‘You knew this all the time didn’t you? All that time I spent with you and you never let on once. I guess you also know a whole lot more about those frigging bodies along with the discs don’t you?’
‘Yes!’ She admitted almost immediately, becoming very unsettled at the sudden change in him. ‘I know much more! But please bear with me Janus. This isn’t exactly easy for me either!’
He was about to reply but finally relented, before settling sat back in his seat and letting her carry on with the rest of the story. He was not in the happiest of moods however, and he was really trying his best to stay calm.
‘The letters were the initials of the race that produced the discs. Sadly it was the Dra-Na-Zee whose remains lay in those graves. They originally lived many light years away in another solar system on a planet called Pagos. They had been sent to earth over the centuries in order to prepare the way for the legendary Chosen One. It was written that he would appear one day and restore the Dra-Na-Zee to their rightful place.’ Janus shifted uncomfortably as she continued. ‘The reason this whole thing occurred, was that even with their superior knowledge and advances in science and technology, these beings had managed to foresee their destiny, which would eventually result in the total destruction of their home planet. These creatures, who never gave up on hope, spent as much time as possible devising action plans well in advance of that fateful day. The Chosen One was essentially their last chance for survival, as they knew the past would never be the same again, which meant starting all over again on another world.’
Vicky stopped to catch her breath and looked across at Janus to gauge his reaction before she carried on.
‘The Earth had already become a playground to the Dra-Na-Zee, whose past involvement with humans had included providing the Atlanteans with guidance. A good example of this would be the way they helped to set up the lay lines through Mount Erabus on Ross Island. The Egyptians were also very good pupils and they really benefited, as history shows only too well!
Naturally, within this period, the planet Earth having become so familiar to them, eventually became first choice for their new home, regardless of the fact that it was already inhabited.’ Janus looked hard at Vicky. He could still see the emotional turmoil she was suffering, as she struggled to continue. Yet he couldn’t quite understand how she, as an individual, was linked into the whole scenario.
Vicky sensed his eyes questioning hers as he stared. They were searching for hidden answers, but she carried on regardless.
‘The preparation and planning had taken the Dra-Na-Zee many centuries to establish. Yet the spacecraft’s crash landing was down to a totally unexpected miscalculation in relation to the earth’s lay-lines, which had shifted ever so slightly, following all the checks that had taken place. There were many other underlying factors, which I don’t fully understand, such as earthquakes and tidal waves. In fact the list is endless, and there still many more to come. So eventually the Dra-Na-Zee Elders held a few more meetings until an overall agreement was finally reached. Two earlier descendants of the Chosen One were dispatched to continue to assist the human race. You’ll already be familiar with Nostradamus. He was a physician and astrologer who worked from France. The other one was Leonardo Di Vinci, a painter, sculptor, architect, engineer and scientist based in the fantastic country of Italy. During their time on earth they met each other in secret on a regular basis, but unfortunately, during this period, an unforeseen incident occurred in which Leonardo became ill and sadly died. This was caused by a virus found on Earth, which Nostradamus frantically attempted to find a cure for.
Unfortunately, by the time it was eventually discovered, his body had also become badly infected and he also died from the same strain in 1566. Yet despite all of the setbacks, they’d still both managed to accomplish their main tasks. Having learnt a great deal about many of the diseases prevalent to Earth, the Dra-Na-Zee produced the relevant antidotes and immunized their race enough to allow them to survive inhabiting this alien planet. It must also be noted that the stone discs still continue to confuse the world’s top scientists even today, although they have tried many times to uncover their well hidden secrets’.
Vicky stopped once again and regarded him with an extremely serious expression etched across her face.
‘I’ll tell you right here and now, as it’s partly my duty to do so, that these discs contain all known records of the Dra-Na-Zee to date. They can only be accessed using a mind link control by the Chosen One, and this can be done from anywhere in the world.’ Let me just explain that a bit further. ‘The Earth’s lay-lines generate a vast amount of untapped energy and have the ability to employ certain ancient monuments, such as Stonehenge and Avebury, as a form of aerials to boost the required signals.’
Janus could only admire this race for the amount of work they’d carried out in order to achieve such amazing results. Yet how come someone like Vicky seemed to know so much? Why was she letting him in on such sensitive information and then going on about it being her duty?
Unknown to Janus the most amazing revelations were yet to come.
CHAPTER 4 – Nectar of Acceptance
Noting the confused expression on his face, Vicky decided she best continue at a more leisurely pace.
‘Excuse me for a moment please!’ she uttered, rising from her chair and entering the kitchen, only to return a few minutes later holding two very generously filled wine glasses. Janus thanked her as he accepted his drink, which was a little bit sweeter than he’d expected. He felt a warm sensation in his throat as the liquid eased its way down while he drank. The feeling was slightly odd. He knew something was wrong because the skin on his body had started to pulsate. It tightened up for a few short seconds before suddenly releasing again. Yet Janus remained calm and placed his glass back on the table before sitting back and trying to regain his composure. He took a few deep breaths and felt much better before looking questionably at the woman sitting next to him. That was the moment he noticed the tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. Vicky had been told at the time of her abduction that her fate would finally be sealed once this task had been performed. Therefore, battling on, she managed to pull herself together and knew she had no other option than to explain herself to the man who sat staring and waiting for some kind of answer. Vicky took a deep breath and with nothing left to lose, she clarified what he needed to know. She detailed how it had all started when she’d been strolling across a field, used mainly by locals, on her way back from one of the university buildings to her student flat many years ago. She relayed how she’d noticed a series of strange lights shining through the trees that ran adjacent to the path she’d been using. She also recalled the sense of being followed and how she’d stopped to get a better view, when for no apparent reason her nose had started to bleed. It was when she’d begun to clean herself up that something had hit her hard in the side of the body, flinging her to the ground with an incredible amount of force. It wasn’t until she’d regained full consciousness that she realised she was no longer in the same place and tried to gather her wits about her. Vicky’s immediate reaction had been to look for some sort of exit to escape from, but her inquisitiveness got the better of her as usual. As a consequence, she’d ended up gazing in wonder at the unfamiliar surroundings and felt unusually calm considering the circumstances. A blue pool of light had then appeared from overhead. This had completely surrounded the whole area in which she’d stopped, which was under what looked to be a large arched roof. Evidently, she’d simply stood where she was in the centre of the room before setting eyes on a tall black structure packed with a large selection of crystals of differing shapes and sizes in a wide array of unusual colours. Wondering what purpose these things could possibly serve, she’d gazed down at her left wrist and found that a strange amulet had somehow been attached to it without her even noticing. This appeared to glow whenever she moved around. Then, in an attempt to remove it, she automatically received a minor shock that made her feel extremely nervous and quite worried about her safety. Vicky said she was pretty damned sure that she was being watched at that point. Then the sound of a door sliding open behind her had caused her to turn, while the amulet had started to glow ever so brightly on her wrist. From what she could remember, although she still felt a little vague about certain aspects of what had happened, the first sight of her abductors had eased her fears an awful lot as these appeared to have been instantaneously banished from her mind. What stood before her, were not the big scaly monsters portrayed in so many of the movies she’d seen, but beings very similar to humans, apart from the fact that they had the deepest blue eyes she’d ever seen. They gave off a certain sense of serenity and appeared rather shy, until one of them had moved towards her holding a strange orb in the palm of its handed. She remembered how this began to glow with a soft blue light before letting forth a blinding radiance that had surged forward and encircled her at least three times before it finally entered her body. Vicky confirmed that she’d certainly never experienced such a wonderful feeling before, and a deep love had filled her soul, causing her senses to increase their awareness. It felt as though she was one with the whole universe and became totally caught up in a wave of euphoria. Vicky admitted that she would have loved to have stayed like that for the rest of her life if she’d had a choice. Yet that was not meant to be, as an eerie silence had descended on her, just seconds before a whole set of instructions flooded her mind.
After what seemed like days, with nothing but messages being implanted into her head, Vicky had no option but to submit herself to these beings who she now knew to be a race called the Dra-Na-Zee. Checking to see that he was happy to carry on, she continued with the story and described how she eventually, after almost being brainwashed to the point of total madness, had finally understood their intent. This effectively resulted in her agreeing to help their cause, despite knowing it would finally mean her giving up everything.
Nothing quite made sense to Janus just yet. He sat contemplating what he’d just been told, before noticing that Vicky was already getting ready for another session. Before she had a chance to start, he gestured with his hand for her to remain seated, then he rose, entered the kitchen and returned a few minutes later with a cup of tea for himself and a hot lemon mixed with honey and a small drop of brandy for Vicky. Somewhat gratefully, the young woman put her hand out and accepted the drink, which she hugged close to her body.
