Nick glanced to the party. “I know I promised to have a life outside football, but…you wanna get out of here?”
“And go where exactly?”
His words heated through me. “Back home.”
I drew him closer, delighting us both with a soft kiss.
“Home is anywhere you are, Nick.”
He bumped his forehead against mine. “Home is anywhere I can take you without getting arrested for public indecency.”
“Anyone ever tell you that you’re a total romantic?”
“You didn’t fall in love with me because I swept you off your feet.”
“No…” I wrapped my arms around his neck. “I fell in love with you because you’re everything I needed.”
“And I almost let you slip away.”
“Don’t worry, superstar. I’m not going anywhere now.”
“You’ll stay with me?”
I smirked. “I’ve gotta. Mom’s already planning her grandchild’s wedding.”
“Good.” He caressed my cheek with a soft hand. “I might’ve ruined our past together, but I promise…you will want for nothing in our future.”
“You’re the only thing I want, Nick.”
“Then I’m yours, if you’ll have me.”
And I couldn’t imagine a greater man.
