“I hope Earth is equally adaptable,” Captain Jenkins said. “They’re going to need to be when they find out what I’ve gotten them into.”
“I think you’ll be surprised, Captain.”
“That seems to be the theme of this trip,” Jenkins said wryly. Then he sighed. “Well, goodbye, Father. And good luck.”
“Thank you, Captain. I hope you have a safe voyage.” They shook hands and then Captain Peter Jenkins turned toward the door and ultimately home. As he reached the port, he put a hand on the jamb and turned back to the priest.
“Oh, Father, one other thing.”
“Yes?”
He grinned. “Are you sure your name shouldn’t be Peter?”
Father Simon smiled back. “Time will tell,” he said.
