Chapter Two

  They were invisible...tucked away in the shadows of the alley...scanning the passers-by of the twenty-first century. There were no counter-measures for the personal cloaking fields they'd brought with them...they'd yet to be invented. One of them was examining the placement of a red dot on a holographic map being displayed on a wrist-mounted device...with their target locked they looked up toward Jane and Remi as they perused the wares of a roadside vendor. They'd been following them for the last five blocks. "Is it?" asked the second of them.

  "The oscillation of the frequency is a match, but something isn't right. We're going to need a closer look," said the other.
