Riley shook his head. "I'm trying to. Really. Give us some time to think. I'll ask Tyrone to wait for you at the lobby."
"You're sending me away? No, we have to talk this over. We can't ignore it like this—"
"We need time."
I stood in the middle of the room, shell-shocked. I tried to think of something to say and help redeem myself. Apparently, blatant trust wasn't enough. "Don't you love me?" I squeaked.
No answer.
Fighting back tears, I made my way to the exit. Just yesterday, we were in the happiest relationship imaginable.
As I walked out, I heard a frustrated roar and the sound of something getting knocked over. Stunned, I turned around. It was Ryan knocking down a chair.
Riley stared at me with his sad, green eyes. "We do."
