He waited patiently, a white-and-tabby shadow of a cat, invisible in the mottled shadow of the bush.
The three little birds hopped closer, flirting their long tails. Now one of them separated from the others.
His belly almost touching the ground, Freddy moved slowly, silently towards it.
The two male birds fluttered upwards, sounding the alarm – See! See! See! – but the female, slower, stayed on the ground.
Freddy pounced.
