Kurt, page 12
“Then it’s water under the bridge?” Natalie asked.
“Water under the bridge.” She didn’t need further discussion. They were good.
Kurt passed out bottles of beer. “Everyone, I have an announcement.”
“Can’t be that we’re out of beer,” Bentley said.
Sarah joined Kurt by the table. She wasn’t sure what he was about to announce, but that didn’t matter. Her life had finally evened out, and that beat any announcement.
“Sarah and I have had a rocky road to this moment, but we’re here, and we’re together. We’re also getting married.”
Sarah held up her hand. She’d almost forgotten he’d proposed. All the girls crowded around her to look at the ring.
“One more thing,” Kurt said. “The spell that brought us together is real, and it obviously worked. We might not have thought we needed love or our friendship, but we do. You are all our family. Guys, you’re the brothers I never had. Thank you for giving the magic the chance to work.”
“You know,” Jimmy said, “this wouldn’t have worked if you and Sarah hadn’t split in the first place. You two started the magic. We just benefitted.”
Jimmy was right. If she and Kurt hadn’t broken up, then no one would’ve decided to ask for a love spell. Sarah held up her beer. “To friends, love, magic and finding those bad boys. We all hit the jackpot.”
Everyone cheered, and Kurt tucked her to his side. “Is there a spell to promote longevity and protection for life?”
“Not that I know of, but I can look.” Sarah laughed. “We have everything we need because we have each other. That’s the best magic ever.”
“Agreed,” Kurt said. He kissed her. “To all of us.”
Sarah stayed beside Kurt and drank in the view of her friends all together. When her sister had died, she thought her world crashed down. Then her parents died, and her world collapsed. Kurt brought her out of her depression, but her fear destroyed the good in her life.
Now she had hope. Not just that, but she had a great circle of friends, a family of her own choosing and the truest love possible with Kurt -- her bad boy.
God, she loved her magic.
