Bound by Forever, page 4
Devasena let out a contented sigh while her eyes drank in the beautiful sight of the lake. They visited the Lakehouse twice or thrice a year to spend a few days away from the outside world.
“I dragged you away before you could have your meal.”
Devasena smiled. “You didn’t drag me away. I was already waiting with our packed bags when you arrived. How was your meeting?” she asked.
From the moment Abhimanyu had whisked her away from their home that morning, and during the time it took to drive to the Lakehouse that afternoon, and even after they arrived, they were too busy with other things to have conversed much.
“Even this scientist said the same thing,” Abhimanyu replied and gave her the details. He always told her everything he did for their people and valued her input.
“You feel we should begin our preparations?” she asked.
“Yes. I don’t know why most people still don’t believe in science and facts. But if we are not prepared, then the next two generations might see one of the worst droughts in our history.”
She kissed his chest to soothe him. “Don’t worry, we’ll convince everyone. It’s just that when they see how rich and prosperous all of our lands currently are, it’s hard for them to believe that there might be a dire future. And—”
A surprisingly strong kick in her stomach made her gasp and interrupted their discussion.
Devasena laughed. “Looks like our second child will also be as demanding as our Vijay.”
With a smooth move, Abhimanyu gently rolled her to the side. Then giving her a quick kiss on her lips and another one on her softly-rounded stomach, he stepped down from the bed.
Devasena turned to her side and admired her husband’s powerful, muscled form while he picked out some fruits and laid them on a silver platter before bringing it back to their bed.
He began to cut the fruit using a jewelled knife.
Abhimanyu Singham’s weapons collections were well-known far and wide. But the only weapon he always carried with him was the jewelled knife she had gifted him on the twenty-first day of their marriage.
“Eat,” he ordered. “It’s not supposed to be good for pregnant women to remain hungry for long.”
Devasena laughed. “Do I look like I am starved? I am already huge now even though I’m only five months pregnant!”
“You look beautiful,” he said. He ran the back of his fingers appreciatively over her curves while she ate. “You’ll always be beautiful to me.” Her dark, brown eyes dancing with amusement, paired with a mischievous smile, only enhanced her beauty.
“Are you saying you are glad you didn’t divorce me, Singham?” she asked cheekily.
Abhimanyu shook his head with an exasperated smile. His wife always teased him with that one reminder.
A year after their marriage, there was a lot of violence and unrest in their province. Abhimanyu had demanded that Devasena travel to London and live there in a house he had already prepared while he settled the matters at home.
Devasena had refused. Abhimanyu had demanded that she at least stay with her parents in the Senani Mansion which was relatively safer. She had refused even that option. Despite his demands and even dire threats to divorce her if she remained stubborn, she still didn’t budge.
“I am a Singham. No matter how hard it gets, I will remain here like you. And you promised me forever,” she said haughtily.
Even though at that time, he was furious and worried, he had been secretly relieved that the woman he loved was stubborn and would remain next to him. So were the rest of the people in their province. Their firstborn, Vijay, was conceived during that turbulent time.
“Yes. I’m very glad, my love,” he replied and kissed his beautiful, feisty wife.
No matter how many passionate fights and arguments they would have over the years.
No matter how many times she would challenge his authority.
And no matter how hard and dangerous it got in the world outside.
One fact was always constant and would remain so until eternity—they loved each other deeply, and they were bound together by forever.
The End

BOOK EXCERPT
Vishal woke up to the sound of feminine giggles.
“That tickles.”
“You’re so naughty.”
More giggles.
Vishal was irritated. He had gotten back to the Gulati house during the early hours and he had barely slept in the last forty-eight hours. And now, someone was having a secret fling outside his room. He closed his eyes, determined to shut out the disturbance.
“I know you like it when I touch you like this. Don’t you?”
Vishal’s eyes popped open all of a sudden when he finally recognized the voice through his sleep-fogged brain.
How bloody dare she!
Intense fury filled him, and he threw the bed sheet aside before going to the door and kicking it open. He stormed out, ready to kill the man she was with. But as soon as he saw her, he stopped short.
Bhanu was on her knees. And she was playing with a puppy that was wiggling in her arms and trying to lick her face. She looked at him in surprise, maybe because his face must be still reflecting his fury.
“What are you doing here!” he snapped.
She slowly and gently let the puppy out of her arms which promptly skipped away. “I live here. You know, because this is my house and you work for me .”
The damn brat never missed a chance to remind him of that fact.
“Well, this part of the house is assigned to me. While I’m here, stay away from this place.” He knew he was being ridiculous. But the irrational rage and jealousy thinking she was with another man was making him lash out at her. And his realization from the previous day of wanting her added to the fury.
She didn’t care about the rage on his face. In fact, she seemed pretty pissed, too.
“I’ll go where I want and when I want,” she taunted with a raised chin. “And right now, I want to go inside my barn room. Who’s going to stop me?”
She stood up and began to stride towards his room.
He stopped her. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her towards him until her body crashed into his.
She let out a shocked gasp which he ignored.
The soft curves and the familiar smell of her subtly perfumed soap drove him crazy. He wanted to drag her inside his room and keep her there, until the ache she created in his body, and the confusion she created in his mind were all gone.
As soon as that thought passed in his mind, he sobered up immediately. What the hell are you doing!
He immediately let go of her.
He expected her to slap him or at least scream for help all the while threatening him dire consequences. And she was more than justified for grabbing her like that.
But she was watching him. Not with an offended look but with a curious look. That bloody look heated his blood. “What?” he snapped once again.
“What’s that on your neck? Is that... lipstick?”
He frowned, and he got reminded of the previous evening when a woman had made a pass at him at the hotel.
“Did you kiss a woman?” Bhanu asked when he remained quiet while continuing to glower at her.
The reminder also made him pissed that he rejected the advances of that beautiful, available woman because he only wanted the brat standing in front of him.
“Have you slept with many women?” she prodded further.
“None of your business,” he snapped.
Instead of being offended at his rude tone, her curious eyes seemed to bore holes in him. “I noticed that sometimes… you look at me as though… I don’t know… as though you… uh… want to kiss me.”
Kiss was a tame word compared to what he wanted to do to her right then. “That’s because you have a hot little body,” he said in an irritable tone. He was hoping to goad her into anger so that she would storm out before he said or did anything stupid.
She wasn’t angry and that damn speculative look continued to stay on her face.
“What’s going in that head of yours?” His tone came out moody. His brain must have stopped working because of lack of sleep and because the woman in front of him was making him crazy with lust and annoyance.
She continued to watch him. The way she was slowly moving her eyes over his body began to arouse his body. Since he was only in his shorts, she could see what effect her staring was having on him. This was the second time she had caught him this way.
And instead of being embarrassed or outraged, she raised her head to look him in his eyes. “Kiss me,” she said all of a sudden.
“What?” He was more than stunned by her request. Surely, his mind was hallucinating due to his lack of sleep and unrequited lust for the woman in front of him.
“I said kiss me,” she repeated.
“No!” The woman was going to drive him insane.
Her eyes flashed and she had a challenging look on her face. “Come on. I know you were thinking of kissing me just now. You also think I’m hot. I’m giving you permission to kiss me.”
He sucked in a breath. “It’s my day off, so leave me in peace. Get back into the house right now!”
She raised her eyebrow at his order. “Fine. If you don’t want to, I’ll find someone else to kiss.” She turned and began to walk away.
