“That’s a good summary, pretty boy.” Tor walked into the kitchen with the rest of the crew and pulled Julia in for a kiss. “Den is coming back with us tonight, and Aaron is going to have a sleepover I think. Right, guys?” he asked his younger brother and his date.

“We didn’t really talk about anything, but I guess I’m not going home?”

Nolan grabbed his youngest brother up in his arms. “No, Den. You won’t be going home. I didn’t want to make any decisions for you and hoped we could avoid that. But things didn’t work out like I hoped.”

“Did he hit you? Is that why your cheek is red?”

“Yes, and that’s why I don’t want you going home. I never want you there by yourself, okay? Did he hit you before?”

“No, but he got all sorts of mad the day I left. That’s why Tor grabbed me. I think he really wanted to hit me, and it freaked me out,” Riorden said softly as Aaron hugged him tightly.

“It will be all right, Den. You have us. We’ll never turn our backs on you,” Nolan said fiercely.

“And us! You have us! And a whole bunch of my family thinks you are all sorts of adorable. A few of them wanted to keep you after the spa day. So if you ever need rides or anything and your brothers aren’t around, you just give us a call,” Jazz said. Her eyes were brimming with tears, but she sounded excited at the same time.

“I want you to always make decisions for yourself, Den. I know it’s hard to feel forced into things because you aren’t old enough to be on your own yet. Believe me, I know. But for right now, the plan is for you to stay with Tor for the holiday. Things will be a bit hectic once school starts back up again for both of you, so I’d like you to come stay with me then. This house is plenty big, and we’ll set up the guest room for you, okay? We’ll get everything straightened out with the school in the meantime.”

“Yeah, that sounds good. I… thank you—”

Nolan cut him off with a huge hug. “Never thank me for loving you, brother. We’re a family, and we’re going to stick together,” Nolan said roughly.

“Hey, I’m pretty sure Dad was going to get me a sweet ride for Christmas this year. Since you’re taking over the role, does that mean you’ll take me car shopping this week?” Den asked brightly.

“In your dreams, smartass,” Nolan replied, ridiculously happy with his brother’s resilient spirit. “Now you guys get out of here. It’s late, and I think we all need our rest.”

“If that’s what you’re going with, bro,” Tor muttered, before Julia grabbed his arm and dragged him out, the rest of them following and laughing.

  Nolan

“WELL, THAT was about as bad as it could possibly go,” Nolan said as he sank down on the seat after the door closed.

“What happened with your folks?” Skylar asked quietly.

“Oh, Den’s father tried to kick us all out but have us leave Den there. Since things had gone south before Tor rescued him last week, I didn’t feel it was safe to leave him, Sky. So I had to resort to blackmail.”

  “Blackmail?” Skylar asked.

“I have a video of him beating me the night he threw me out ten years ago before I went and lived with my grandmother. I haven’t used it before, but I’m glad I kept it as a just-in-case.”

“And your face? Did he hit you again?” Skylar asked, running his finger tenderly down the side of Nolan’s face where he could still feel the impact of his stepfather’s hand.

“Yeah, he was really angry,” Nolan said, startled by the flash of anger on Skylar’s face.

“Shit. I should have gone with you. Mrs. Amwith was fine with the boys. Never again. He doesn’t ever get to lay a hand on you again,” Skylar said, staring intently at Nolan.

“I’m fine. Really. I’m more upset by my mother’s reaction tonight than anything else.”

“What about your mom?” Skylar asked.

Nolan smiled bitterly. “She didn’t say anything really. Just insisted how wrong I was. But she left with her husband when he stormed off. I mean, it’s not like I didn’t know he was the most important thing to her. But I had hoped that she would step up and truly be a mother for Den and love him unconditionally. I had really wanted that for him, which is why we went to that stupid party tonight. What a waste.”

“Oh, hon, it was many things but not a waste. While it may not be the answer you wanted, you now know what the plan is for your brother. And he’ll be loved and protected. And my mother is going to be all over that boy. He won’t know what hit him,” Skylar said with a wink. “And besides, it got you all dressed up in this tux, which has made me hard all night. It’s a good thing we didn’t stick around for dancing. I don’t think I could’ve moved without pain.”

Nolan laughed, feeling suddenly light-hearted, and grabbed Skylar up in his arms. “I don’t know how you do it, but with you, I feel like it will actually be all right.”

“Of course it will, once you get to work on my reward. Remember the one I get for coming tonight?”

“Oh, you’ll be coming tonight. Let’s just see how many times we can make that happen.” And with that Nolan crushed his mouth down on Skylar’s, feasting ravenously on his lips. He gave thanks for the fact that all the blinds had been closed and languidly began to undress the beautiful man in front of him. He bent down to untie his shoes and help him out of his footwear before moving on to the rest of his clothes. He carefully placed the amazing outfit on a nearby chair, then lifted Skylar up onto the table. He gave further thanks for his obvious foresight in furniture selection, the piece being an artistic masterpiece in wood and stone that had been bolted to the floor. It was beautiful and extremely sturdy.

He leaned over and stared down at Skylar, basking in the sight of his lover beneath him, as contentment snuck into his heart.

“Nolan? Is this okay? We don’t have to if you need time to…. I mean, I was only kidding about the payback and you don’t—”

Nolan took his cock in his mouth and sucked for all he was worth. Inarticulate cries were wrung from Skylar’s lips as Nolan focused all of his attention on this one moment, on this one man.

He reached into the inside pocket of his tuxedo and drew out the supplies he had stashed there. He placed the foil packet down and quickly opened the lube. With slicked fingers, he gently probed Skylar’s entrance, and his finger was drawn into the welcoming heat. The cries grew louder and more desperate until he had three fingers in his lover’s channel and that beautiful cock deep down his throat, and then there were only whimpers.

“Stop, please, I want to come with you filling me up. Please, Nolan, I need you inside me….”

He withdrew his fingers and shucked his pants, drawing out his cock. He stood up and slipped on the condom, then slicked himself up quickly. He positioned himself and thrust deep, knowing Skylar relished the entry and burn. He stopped once he was balls deep and slowly stroked Skylar’s cock.

“You gonna start moving there, bad boy?”

“Bossy bottom.” Nolan laughed as he glided in and out in a teasing rhythm.

“Move, damn you, move!” Skylar demanded as he reached up and twisted ever so slightly on Nolan’s piercing. Damn. That felt amazing. Giving over entirely to the sensations, he thrust over and over until he was almost at the edge and then plunged right over it when Skylar cried out his release and his channel spasmed in rhythm with his orgasm.

“Okay, so it was table sex rather than wall sex. Still works,” muttered the man sprawled out all over said piece of furniture. Nolan laughed as he carefully withdrew, grabbing a towel that lay nearby and cleaned them up before carefully covering his lover’s body with his own, propped up on his arms so he could admire the man beneath him.

“Only one problem. The bed is all the way over there. I’m not sure I can make it. I think you wrecked me.”

“Hon, if I had truly wrecked you, you wouldn’t be able to talk right now. We’ll have to work on that. In the meantime….” With that Skylar levered himself up, somehow taking Nolan with him and lifting him over his shoulder before carrying him into the bedroom and throwing him onto his bed.

  “Dang tricky ninja.”

“Hey, I have a ninja hippo to try to live up to now. I need to step up the training, I think.”

“You can train on me anytime.”

“I stepped right into that one, didn’t I?” He smiled down at Nolan. “You’re still wearing most of your clothes, including your shoes. It’s kinda cute, but not exactly comfortable for bed. Let’s get you undressed.”

As Skylar reached for him, Nolan caught his hand, bringing it to his lips.

“Stay,” he ordered. “Stay the night.”

“I had planned to, remember? I have my overnight bag stashed in here already.” Skylar smiled at him fondly.

“Fair warning, I want lots of overnights. And eventually, I want the bag to be unnecessary. I want us to wake up Christmas morning together. And kiss on New Year’s Eve. You’re mine. I knew that from the moment I saw you in my bed that first morning, when you enchanted me beyond reason.”

Skylar was quiet for a long moment. “And do I get to keep you too?”

“Always. Always yours, Shimmer. Please never let me go.”

“Never. Always yours,” Skylar said as he carefully helped Nolan undress. Nolan drew the smaller man into his arms and closed his eyes, happiness washing through him in endless bounds.

  “Love you, Shimmer. Always you.”

KIM KATIL patrols the Universe with her dignity of dragons during the Harvest Moon. The rest of the time, Kim lives in the mythical and contentious territory known as Central Jersey. Originally from South Jersey, she is still unsure if Central Jersey is a real place or a Fae construct. Her movement from the lower to middle band of the state was interrupted by time spent living in Ireland, Boston, Uzbekistan, Maryland, Trinidad, and Florida. So far, she has only been asked to leave one country. She currently shares a house with two other adults, three teens, two dogs, and four snakes.

While Kim would love to have a writing cave, she is content to make due with an imaginary yurt that she brings with her for use in airports, on planes and trains, and in hotels. Work-related travel is an unfortunate side effect of the day job but allows her to meet new and interesting people along the way. She has been known to have dinner with random strangers in airports and at street fairs. This level of “peopling” has caused shock and horror in her writers’ group.

A happily ever after is a necessity. Kim loves to give her characters a fun adventure to get them there and a plethora of family and friends to help them along the way.

She’d love to hear from you on this journey:
