He responded with a heart emoji, and my heart clenched again. My fingers rubbed the phone as if they were a lifeline to my old life. I looked back up at the women and Jonathan, then dropped the phone back into my apron pocket, noticing that I still had on my wedding band. I studied it for a moment, then slid it off and into the pocket with the phone.
Perla’s eyes met mine. I shook my head lightly. I wanted to tell Rodney my decision before I told Perla and the other ladies. That was only fair.
In the meantime, I was surprised to realize what I was feeling was contentment. I looked around the room. Books, coffee, and friends.
Not a bad way to spend the summer.

About the author
When Jacqueline M. Green first heard of “cozy mysteries,” she thought her sister had brilliantly made up the term. She was delighted to discover it was a genre all its own, with tons of stories about crafting, quilting, knitting and cooking. Her first cozy mystery series was set in a fictional yoga studio in California. Jacqueline loves to travel and fell in love with England’s Lake District, so her second cozy mystery series is set there.
Jacqueline is a public school teacher, so it made perfect sense that this cozy mystery series should involve a school teacher!
