off. Amanda kept telling him Dozer was her brother, and it was his job to
bring her home, even if it was to Amanda’s, not their own house. It
didn’t help.
Two hours after Dozer left to get her, he finally turned into the
driveway. With a big smile on his face, Vinny went out to meet the
truck. Charlie smiled and waved at him before he reached the truck and
opened the door.
“I thought you two were never going to get here,” Vinny said.
“You know how slow hospitals are, and I had to get her
prescriptions filled. That took time,” Dozer said, turning the truck off.
“It’s not all about you, Vinny.”
“Hi!”
Dozer jumped in his seat. Samantha stood at his window, a big smile
on her face, her green eyes lighting up. “Damnit, Sam, stop doing that.”
“It keeps you on your toes.”
Charlie laughed. “That it does.”
“How are you feeling?”
“Better, now that I’m out of there.”
“You look good,” Sam said to Dozer. “Hope you brought your

appetite. Mandy wouldn’t let me cook, but we did order a ton of Chinese
food.”
“Sure, I can always eat,” Dozer said.
“Great.” Samantha pushed away from the truck and skipped back
toward the house.
Vinny opened Charlie’s door, and Charlie turned to her brother. “I
think she has a crush on you.”
Dozer snorted, but Vinny spoke up. “Stay away from my sister.”
“Like you stayed away from mine?” Dozer said.
“Not the same thing here,” Vinny stated.
Dozer snorted again. “She’s a baby, Vinny, and shame on you both
for even thinking like that. You know my rules about girls her age.”
“Rules are meant to be broken,” Charlie said.
Dozer gave her a dirty look, and Vinny instantly squirmed over the
whole conversation. “How about we change the subject, please.”
“Yeah, Charlie,” Dozer said. “Don’t make him cry because now he
has a baby sister to worry about.”
Vinny scowled at Dozer and scooped Charlie out of the truck. Dozer
took her crutches, and the three headed for the house.
“You’re a dick,” Vinny said to Dozer.
“Suck it,” Dozer snapped back at Vinny.
“If you two are going to start fighting again, then put me down and
hand me the crutches,” Charlie said.
“We’re not fighting,” Vinny told her.
“Not yet, anyway,” Dozer grumbled.
Vinny carried her inside and took her over to the couch. He grabbed
the footstool and put her leg with the cast on it. “Comfy?”
“I’m fine, Vinny.” She smiled. “You don’t have to be a mother
hen.”
“Sure I do. I’ll go fix you a plate and be right back.” He quickly
kissed her cheek, then moved to the kitchen.
“He keeps hovering like that, and I’m going to give him another ass
kicking,” Dozer stated. Charlie giggled at him. “I mean it. He’s driving
me nuts.”
“Everything drives you nuts.”
“Yeah, well, he’s on the top of my list.”

Vinny’s Vow
While Vinny was gone Jessie came sat down. “Hello,” he said with
a wave.
“Oh, yeah!” Charlie smiled and waved back. “How do you like it
here so far?”
“For a small town, it isn’t bad.”
“How long are the two of you planning on staying?” she asked.
“Oh, well, um, I don’t really know. Sam really likes it here, which
kind of surprised me.”
“Why?”
“Guess I just never figured she’d be happy in a small town when she
grew up in a city.”
Charlie looked over to where Samantha was standing. The girl was
leaning on a counter, her eyes glued on Dozer. Could that be the reason
why she wanted to stay? If so, the girl was going to have one major rude
awakening.
“What did you do in the city?” Charlie asked.
“Flipped houses.” He grinned. “I still do it. I have a partner back
there who’s handling our latest project, which is a large one. Kind of feel
guilty for leaving him to deal with it all on his own.”
“Do you think you’ll start doing that here?” she asked.
“Vinny mentioned there were a few places that could use it. I’ll have
to see. If Sam really does want to stay and settle here, I might give it a
try by moving some business here. I’m not sure if my partner will like it,
but we’ll have to discuss it.”
“Jessie, you better get in there before Dozer takes it all,” Vinny said,
coming back with his hands full with two plates loaded down with food.
“Sam baked, and his eyes have found it.”
Jessie laughed and got up. “Nice talking to you,” he said to Charlie.
“You too.” She turned her attention back to Vinny. “Why is
everyone staying in the kitchen?”
“Because I want some alone time with you.” He put the plates down
on the table and sat down next to her, putting his arm around her
shoulders and hugging her close. “You’re not getting tired, are you?”
She shook her head. “No, I’m fine.”
“No pain?”
“No.” She laughed. “I’m okay. Really. Glad to be home and a bit

worried about Dozer carrying me up and down the stairs at home. He
should’ve left my bed where I had it.”
“I don’t think he’s going to mind.”
She could feel eyes on her and looked over his shoulder. The others
were hanging out in the kitchen, acting strange. “What’s going on? Why
are they in the kitchen watching us?”
“They’re just waiting.”
“For what?” She was still looking at them, frowning slightly and
trying to understand what the hell was going on.
“To see how you’re going to react.”
“To what?”
“To this.” Charlie looked down and in his hand she saw a ring box.
The lid was open to show a princess cut diamond ring. She gasped, her
hands flying up to her mouth in complete surprise. “Will you marry me,
Charlene Rivers?” Vinny asked.
“Vinny!” she cried, her hands still over her mouth.
“I love you,” he went on. “I’ve never felt this way about anyone
else. I don’t want to lose you. I don’t want to sleep alone or wake up
alone—hell, I’m just tired of being alone. You have my soul, now I’m
giving you my heart.”
Tears filled her eyes and slipped free. She looked up at him and
simply nodded her head. She couldn’t get the words to come out.
“Is that a yes?” he asked softly.
She sniffed back the tears, took a deep breath, and breathed out,
“Yes.”
Vinny had her in his arms in an instant. He hugged her close,
forgetting how tender she might still be.
“You’re hurting me,” she moaned.
“Oh, sorry.” He pulled back, smiling. “I’m, oh man, Charlie...” He
couldn’t seem to get the words out. He took the ring out of the box and
slipped it on her finger. It fit perfectly. “She said yes!” he yelled to the
others.

The group came out of the kitchen and surrounded them. Amanda
held Charlie’s hand up, looking at the ring. Off to the side Vinny and

Vinny’s Vow
Dozer started in again. She couldn’t make it out, but her brother had his
finger pointed right at Vinny. Most likely telling him things like how he
was going to treat his sister and what he had to do to gain his approval. It
had her smiling and laughing, not really listening to what Amanda and
Samantha were saying.
“Charlie, are you listening to us?” Amanda said.
“Umm, no,” Charlie said, tearing her eyes off her brother and Vinny.
“I’m making sure those two don’t start in again.”
Amanda waved them off. “Forget about those two nuts. You’ve got
a wedding to plan as well as finish healing.”
“What about a fall wedding?” Samantha said. “She should be healed
and done with therapy by then.”
“Good idea,” Charlie said. “The leaves falling in autumn are always
so pretty.”
“Outside wedding then?” Amanda asked.
“Why not?” Charlie smiled in agreement. “I can’t stop smiling.”
“Good,” Amanda said. “That’s the way it should be. Now let’s eat
and then get started on your wedding plans.”
Her plate was handed to her, but instead of eating she watched her
brother and Vinny. They were still having it out, and she wished she
could hear what they were saying to each other.
Dessert came, and they finally stopped. As for her knowing what it
was all about, neither one would tell her. Charlie shrugged it off. Her gut
told her that from now until whenever, those two would always find
something to argue about. They always did when they were kids, and
why should they stop now?
It was late when the ‘party’ ended, and Charlie was very tired. She
was ready to go home, but not ready to leave Vinny behind. However,
Dozer made it very clear she was going home to rest, and Vinny had to
stay here. From the look in Vinny’s eyes she knew he wasn’t going to
stay home. It excited her.
Dozer took her home, carried her up to her room, and she kicked
him out, stating she had to get around on the crutches on her own at
some point. Thankfully, his room was at the other end of the hall, and he
a heavy sleeper. When he left, she hobbled around, getting clothes,
tossing them on the bed, and then made her way to the bathroom to get

ready for bed. Having a cast that went all the way up her leg made doing
something simple so damned hard, even using the toilet, Washing was
even more difficult, making shower or bath impossible, sticking her with
a sponge bath. By the time she finished all of that she was about ready to
drop. Hopping out of the bathroom she just about screamed. Vinny was
in the room, waiting for her.
“I thought you’d never get out,” he said.
“Me, either.”
“Let me help.”
“Please.” He took the crutches from her and tossed them both
toward the bed, then scooped her up as if she weighed nothing. He took
her over to the bed, sat her down, and moved the crutches where they
would be out of the way, but close enough if she needed to get up. “How
did you get in here?”
He dangled a key right in front of her. “Sort of still have the spare
key.”
She grinned and shook her head at him, then started to get
undressed. Vinny stood back and undressed as well. When his shirt came
off, however, she stopped and watched him. His eyes locked on her, but
his hands didn’t stop. The clothes came off, and he stood naked in her
room, a perfect vision for life.
“Undress me,” she breathed out. Breathing normally seemed to be
very difficult.
Vinny dropped to his knees and helped her out of the sweats she was
forced to wear, because of the cast. Nice surprise for him—no panties.
She heard his quick exhale of air right before his head moved in, and a
light kiss landed between her legs. With her cast leg up on the bed she
was open for him.
He kissed her sex again. She fisted both hands into his hair and
waited for more, only more didn’t come. Vinny didn’t love her with his
mouth like she thought he was going to. Instead, he stood back up, took
her shirt off and moved her more onto the bed, on her side where the
casted leg could rest better. He came onto the bed behind her.
“You sure about this?” he asked. “I don’t want to go further if
you’re not ready yet.”
Charlie moved her good leg up and over his, took his hand and
134
Vinny’s Vow
placed it between her legs to let him feel her wetness. “What do you
think?”
She turned enough so they could kiss. His hand stayed between her
legs, rubbing and teasing her flesh. Her clit throbbed, and she couldn’t
stop moving her hips, teasing his erection with the curve of her ass.
Vinny stopped playing with her sex. His hand picked up the good
leg, and one of his legs moved between hers. The head of his cock
touched her flesh. Slowly, with tenderness, he entered her body, and she
welcomed him one inch at a time.
He wasn’t rushing. Vinny moved slow and easy, kissing her neck
and her shoulder. When she turned her head, they found each other’s
lips, but the slow and easy pace was driving her nuts. Her body hummed,
throbbed for faster, harder, to attain the climax that was within reach, yet
felt so far away.
“Harder.” She panted, pushing back against him as much as she
could. “I’m getting close.”
“I want this to last longer.” He panted back, the strain in his voice
clearly telling her he also wanted to go faster but was fighting it.
“I don’t want slow.”
“Then you better bite down on the pillow. We don’t need Dozer
coming in here and catching me with my pants down again.”
Charlie grabbed a pillow, and Vinny gave her what she hungered
for. He withdrew and thrust hard. It stole her breath, and a moan slipped
free before she could press her face in the pillow.
He gave her what she craved, and luckily for her, she listened to
what he said and had the pillow in her mouth. With each hard thrust she
cried out, her body tightening up more, the humming between her legs
becoming almost unbearable.
Vinny stopped, only long enough to change positions, had her one
good leg up in the air, on his shoulder, and he was positioned between
her legs. He moved again, and she got the friction she needed against her
clit. The new position allowed the special spot inside to be rubbed too.
She pressed the pillow to her face once more and cried out with each
thrust he gave her. It felt so good, so right, she didn’t want it to end, yet
at the same time she didn’t think she could handle much more.
Then she reached her goal.

Charlie screamed into that pillow, her body exploding. She couldn’t
breathe. Couldn’t move, and yet Vinny moved a bit more before he
exploded, then she heard his faint shout. The climax that hit her had been
powerful, more powerful than anything she could’ve dreamed about. It
seemed to just go on and on with no hope of ending. Every nerve ending
in her body felt like it was fixed right between her legs. Just when she
thought she might pass out from the pleasure, it began to fade away. She
could open her eyes and release the pillow. Looking up at him she started
to giggle. Vinny also had a pillow in his mouth, and his eyes were
closed.
“Does that mean you’re a screamer, too?” she asked, wiggling her
body.
The pillow dropped from his mouth, and he groaned. “Please don’t
do that.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m very sensitive at the moment.”
She giggled again and stretched, which had him groaning once
more. When he slipped from her, she moaned in protest over the loss, but
Vinny was quick to wrap his arms tightly around her body.
“You know I’m going to have to sneak out of here before he gets
up,” he said.
Charlie sighed. “Yeah, but give me this right now. I need it.”
“I’ll give you anything you want.” He snuggled closer, his face in
the crook of her neck. “I love you.”
Charlie smiled. “I love you, too.” She sighed, right before letting
sleep take her away.

Samantha sat on the window seat in her room, cell phone in hand,
staring out at the night. She watched the bright full moon, wishing like
hell she had a clue what to do with her life. She was turning nineteen in a
couple of days and wondered if her father would remember. This time
next year Vinny and Charlie would be just days away from getting
married. It didn’t bother her to share her twenty-first birthday with her
new brother on his wedding day. Having a father who never
acknowledged any of their birthdays, made it another day like any other,
