“It’s going to be really hard returning to the office and not being able to kiss you when I want to,” he whispered against her mouth.

“My office door locks,” she whispered back.

He chuckled. “That’s good to know.” He ran his hands slowly down her back, then pressed his mouth against her jaw. “You need to take your time, you know, returning to work. I can handle things at the office for a while.”

  “Mmm,” Amelia said. “We’ll see.”

“I’m serious,” Grigg said, lifting his head.

She only smiled, which only made Grigg want to kiss her again, so he did.

“I think I’m addicted to you, Mills,” he murmured.

“That’s a good thing,” she said. “Because I think the curse is broken, which means that you’re number one on my list.”

“Last man standing, huh?” he teased.

  “Yep.”

“Well, that’s good news,” he said, holding her gaze. “Because I’m in love with you, and I don’t ever want to let you go.”

Amelia’s eyes widened slightly, then her mouth curved upward. “What about the curse?”

  “What curse?” Grigg asked.

The smile spread across her face. “You sound pretty confident, Mr. Edison.”

“Oh, I am, Miss Ambrose,” Grigg said. “Besides, should I meet an untimely death, I’ll die happy, knowing that every day leading up to it I spent with you.”

“Sounds like you have big plans.”

“Oh, I do,” Grigg said with a grin. “And the first plan is to kiss you senseless. Then you’re going to take a nap while I sort out a few work details.”

“Are you going to update the Lampton’s Furniture spreadsheet?” she asked.

“I am,” he said. “I need to put in a few scenarios for Lampton to consider before we agree to fund their new upgrades.”

“Oh, I like it when you talk numbers,” she said. “Kind of sexy. Makes me love you even more.”

“Even more?” he prompted, unable to keep the smile off his face.

“That’s what I said.” She moved her fingers along his jaw, and Grigg was pretty sure his entire body had broken out in goose bumps. “I love you, Grigg, and I’m sorry it took me so long to work out the mess of my life.”

He captured her fingers in his hand. “You were worth every minute of waiting.”

She smiled, then her blue eyes searched his. “Now, weren’t you going to kiss me senseless?”

“Yes,” Grigg said. So that’s exactly what he did.
