Her father would be rolling his eyes, her mother applauding her faith. Time would tell who was right. She glanced up, and was embarrassed to find gray-green eyes regarding her steadily, a hint of amusement lurking in their misty depths. She was definitely out of her league with this one. But somehow, she had the feeling it was going to be worth the ride.
“Shall we go, darling?” Even though she knew his words were spoken for their audience, they teased her with their intimacy and she shivered in response. If he could do that with words spoken without meaning, imagine what he could do with true emotion backing his verbiage. Multiple orgasms were probably an understatement.
Chloe met Charlotte’s amused gaze and blushed, certain that she’d been reading her mind. She opened her mouth to respond, but was cut off when Matthew bent his head to kiss her, his lips warm against hers.
“Just keep smiling,” he whispered against her mouth. Like that was going to be difficult. “I’ll come along with you to your hotel. We still have to talk about what happened.”
Chloe breathed in the smell of aftershave and Matthew, and wondered if it was a sin to thank a corpse.
