A Very Beary Christmas (Infernal Sons MC 1.5), page 2
I am full-on ugly crying. Bear laughs and hugs me close.
“Last one,” he says.
“Oh, I don’t think I can take anymore,” I say through my runny nose.
“Open it, baby,” he whispers against my neck.
He hands me a large black envelope. I open it and take out what looks like a certificate. Bear grabs it from my hands before I get a chance to read anything and stands with me cradled in his arms. He takes us onto the porch and sits down on the steps.
“I love you so much that it physically hurts,” he says.
My tears are already falling, and I have no idea what he’s going to say next. My body is just getting itself prepared, I guess.
Bear reaches up and wipes away my tears. Then laughs when more replace them.
“I had a hard time finding the perfect gift,” he says. “But then it just came to me. It’s so hard to explain my feelings for you. I’m afraid that if you knew the extent of my obsession, you would run away screaming.”
“Bear.”
“Let me finish, baby. I love you more than each grain of sand on this planet. My body burns for yours so fiercely, that the sun weeps with jealousy. I’m an addict baby. I can’t go long without seeing your face, hearing your voice. Tasting these lips,” he says, ending his statement with a sweet kiss. He turns my body, so my back is against his front, my legs hanging off his lap.
“I once heard that each star you see is actually a galaxy of many different suns. Each speck in the sky holds billions of stars. Some of which have their own solar system.”
He places tender kisses along my collar bone.
“The universe is vast, sweet Rose. It’s so fucking big.” His arms tighten around my waist. “But even then, it’s not vast enough to hold the amount of love I have for you.”
“Honey, you have to stop,” I beg, trying to catch my breath as tears fall down my face.
“Not yet, baby,” he whispers in my hair.
He shifts his body to grab something behind him then wraps his arms back around me, holding the envelope. He opens it and pulls out the certificate I saw, and a folded paper.
When he unfolds it, I see that it’s some sort of map.
“This is a star map,” he says. “You won’t be able to hold this gift. But you will be able to look up at it and remember how much I love you.”
He points to a star on the map. “Do you see this star?” he asks, and I nod. “If you look up, baby, you’ll see this perfect star trying to outshine you. Her name is, La Mia Bella Rosa.”
Oh my.
“It means, my beautiful Rose.”
I give up trying to keep my face dry.
“That’s your star, beautiful. But it just didn’t feel like enough.”
He holds the map out and points to nine more stars. I glance at the map and then look to the sky to find each one he points out. It takes me about ten minutes to find them all.
“Do you see each star?” he asks.
I will never forget where any of the stars are for the rest of my life. I look up and locate each star with ease. Bear is silent behind me as if waiting for something.
Then I see it.
“Oh, Bear,” I gasp. “It’s a heart.”
“That’s right, baby. Those ten stars, starting with, La Mia Bella Rosa, make a beautiful heart for my beautiful Rose. I call the constellation, Guiding Light. Because that’s what you are, Rose. You’re my guiding light. Whenever I feel lost, all I have to do is look at my perfect wife, and she’ll always guide me back to her.”
I stand up, turn around, and straddle his lap. I don’t have the words to express how I’m feeling, so I do the next best thing. I kiss my husband.
As always, he grabs my head and takes control. He stands with me still wrapped around his body and takes us inside.
“Let’s go to bed so I can worship my wife,” he says.
“God yes,” I moan, as he licks his way down my neck. “OH WAIT, NO!” I yell a little too loudly. Bear stops moving and just stares at me.
“Sorry,” I say with a chuckle. “We forgot about your present.”
Growling, he says, “It can wait.”
I wiggle my body until he finally gives in and stands me on my feet. I rush to our room, grab the building keys, then rush back.
Grabbing his hand, I walk us back outside. I’m so excited that I keep jumping up and down, to Bear’s amusement. Once outside of the building, I unlock the door and stand aside.
“Go on,” I say through my excitement. “Open it.”
He grins, gives me a kiss that has me rethinking this present thing and going to bed instead.
He pulls back, gives me a knowing smirk and opens the door.
Chapter Four
Bear
Ican’t keep this stupid grin off my face. I felt so cheesy buying stars in the shape of a heart. Then they asked me if I wanted to name the constellation. I knew what I wanted, but damn. Hawk is going to laugh his ass off when he hears what I did.
But, I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I never like to see my wife cry but seeing as every single drop was one of pure joy, I allowed it this time.
It’s taking everything I have not to throw her over my shoulder and run back to our bed. But, she’s so excited for whatever is in our building that I push the thought aside.
I kiss the fuck out of her and chuckle when I hear her breathing increase.
Let’s go see what my baby got me for Christmas.
I open the building door and my jaw drops. Inside, barely fitting beside my bike is a new motorcycle.
“I know you guys like to shop for these types of things yourself. The bike chooses the biker, kind of thing.”
“You’ve been speaking with Hawk,” I say, as I move toward the bike.
“Yes, he took me to the bike store and showed me the one you would like the most,” she says, shyly.
I chuckle, look back, and say, “Bike store, huh?”
“Oh, hush,” she says, blushing. “Go get a closer look.”
Rose flips on the light switch and I get my first good look at my new toy.
It’s the new fucking Road Glide that I’ve had my eyes on. Rose loves riding with me, and the bike I have now doesn’t equip my little back warmer with enough support or safety.
This bike has full back and side support for her. That alone was what originally drew me in. It’s also large enough to hold my big ass. Not to mention it’s a fucking beast on the road. Perfect when I need to go on long runs with my brothers.
“It has a touch screen Boom Box,” Rose says from behind me. “Now we can listen to music when you take me for rides.”
I turn around and pull my woman into my arms.
“Thank you, baby,” I choke, I’m not going to fucking cry. Trigger will know from wherever the hell he is and never let me live it down.
“There’s one more thing you haven’t seen,” her muffled voice says against my shirt.
I reluctantly let go and follow her to the other side of the bike. Rose steps aside and fiddles with her hands while looking at the floor. Something she always does when she’s nervous.
I look at the bike and freeze. On the side of the tank is a beautifully painted rose.
“I thought…uhm…your trips,” she sighs, closes her eyes and tries again. “I figured when you have to leave for hours, or even days, at a time you would think of me every time you looked down. I know a rose isn’t very manly, but…yeah.”
I don’t say anything. I just watch as my wife stands there feeling unsure of herself. I wait until she looks up, giving me her eyes.
It takes her a minute, but finally, she looks up.
“Bear?”
I grab her and kiss her fiercely.
“First,” I say, when I pull back. “This is perfect. It’s the best physical gift anyone has ever given me. Second, there isn’t a single moment when you’re not on mind each day. Especially when I’m gone for so long.”
She smiles that perfect smile before saying, “Uhm, there was one more, but it’s so silly that I’ve changed my mind.”
“No way. Give me the silly gift,” I say with a grin.
She shakes her head but walks to the back of the bike and opens the top box.
Her face turns very red before she closes the lid and looks my way.
“Never mind,” she says quickly.
I see that I’m going to have to get it myself. I open the storage trunk back up and pull out a stuffed bear. The bear has both of its arms wrapped tightly around a rose.
I smile.
“See,” she says with a nervous chuckle. “It’s so silly. It’s just that when I saw it, I felt peace. Because, my Bear wraps me in his arms just as tightly as this stuffy does with its rose, and I’ve never felt safer. Your arms are my favorite place to be. I just wanted you to have this so you can…Oh, I don’t know. I just wanted you to have it because it reminds me of you.”
I put the bear back and turn to my woman. “It’s perfect,” I tell her. And, it is. It’s the most perfect gift she could have gotten me.
“I’ll take it with me everywhere I go, baby. I love that little bear.”
“Oh, you don’t have to say that. It’s just a silly little toy.”
“It’s my silly little toy and I won’t hear another negative word toward it. Really, baby. The bike is nice, but the bear is perfect. It’s absolutely perfect. However,” I add. “I know that bike was expensive. I told you not to spend the money Josh gave you on things for me.”
“Honey, you know I don’t want that money. My father was a horrible man and I don’t want anything that reminds me of him. Josh insisted that he give me at least half of the inheritance. I wanted to do something good with it. So, I bought your bike and I donated the rest. I wanted something good to come out of so much evil. Please, don’t be upset.”
I lift Rose and wait for her to wrap her legs around me.
I’m not, sweet Rose,” I say, kissing her nose. “I understand.”
“I love you, Bear,” she says against my neck. “Thank you for giving me the most perfect Christmas.
This woman filled my empty heart with so much love that sometimes it’s hard to breathe. My eyes burn as I walk us back to the house.
“I love you, too, baby. Forever.”
