An Excerpt from Elvwist History as Taught to Humans in Childhood’s End School:

The Elvwists are a species older than any of the ones of Earth. They began sending out probes and scouts thousands of years ago, and planted colonies on all the uninhabited, livable worlds they could find.

If the conditions of a world they found were close enough to what was needed, and if there were no higher life-forms there, they terraformed the planet to make it habitable for their people before sending them out. This is what they did for the planet they named “World of New Beginnings”, which we call “Boucher’s World”.

On this world, they prospered and over eight hundred years, their numbers steadily increased. When the Humans arrived, they considered it good news and telepathically contacted their home world, assuring them they had found new friends.
