Sandy waves to her with a giant smile and Paige’s chest warms with happiness. It feels damn good to have a partner to share this with again. Her last steady partner was over a year ago. She has brought women home that she met out at nice bars and nightclubs while she’s here in Miami. But she hasn’t had a partner back home in Chicago that she has wanted to share this with, not till things started with Sandy. She wanted to bring Sandy with her two weeks ago, but she didn’t ask because she knew Sandy had plans with friends.

Paige smiles as she leans back to float in the rolling water. She loves this. She loves the ocean. She loves all bodies of water, actually. If Chicago wasn’t so close to Lake Michigan, she would have to find a new job. The thought has actually crossed her mind more than a hundred times since she bought her house here. This is her dream home, and she hates how little time she gets to spend here. Her smile widens as she thinks that maybe it’s time to get serious about making the move.

She dips below the water for a moment, catches a wave, and starts swimming quickly to ride the wave in. As she comes out of the water dripping with rushing curtains of water, she slicks her hair back and adjusts the waist and cups of her bikini.

“You look so fucking sexy right now. And you looked really happy out there.”

Paige grins as she grabs a towel and starts drying off. “Thank you. I love it here. It’s my favorite place in the world.”

“I know I’ve only been here less than two days, but I’m really loving it too. It’s going to be hard going home.”

Paige sits down next to her on the oversized lounger and kisses her lips. She wants to ask Sandy if she would like to live here, if she would be willing to move here with her. But she already knows the answer. Sandy would move here in a heartbeat if Paige asked her to. Paige decides it’s not fair to pose the scenario till she has a plan in place. She doesn’t want to put the thought in Sandy’s head before it’s necessary as to not make her anxious.

“I love seeing you lounging out on my beach. Are you getting hungry?” Sandy turns onto her side to face Paige with her bottom lip between her teeth, but she doesn’t say anything for several moments. Paige tugs her bottom lip free from her lips, and patiently asks, “Are you going to answer me, Sandy?”

“Sorry, I am, but I was thinking I would try to write.”

After giving her a kiss on the lips, Paige stands up, saying, “Then write. I’m going to shower, then I’ll work on lunch. I’ll let you know when it’s ready.”

“I need to get my laptop. Is it okay to sit on the deck to work?”

“You can sit anywhere you want.”

Sandy watches Paige walk up the beach to the deck, and as she walks into an outside shower to clean up, Sandy releases a giggle and jumps up and runs to the deck. As she opens the door to the shower, Paige doesn’t look at all surprised to see her. She loops a finger through the front of Sandy’s bikini top and tugs her forward.

  “Took you long enough.”

Before she can answer, Paige has her arms around her under the warm shower and her mouth locked with hers in a passionate kiss. The taste of salt water on their lips and knowing they are technically outside with the sky above them and several inches of their legs visible is an invigorating experience.

As Paige latches onto her neck with a firm sucking kiss, Sandy groans in pleasure, and quietly says, “I love you, Paige.”

“I love you too.” She unties Sandy’s bikini top and drops it on the stone floor. She tugs at her bottom lip with her teeth, and with their mouths brushing together, she adds, “We’re going to do this together to save time so I don’t distract you from your writing for too long. But tonight, I’m going to really take my time with you.”

Taking that as her permission, and with a grin of excitement, Sandy thrusts her hand between Paige’s thighs. Their lips clash with urgency and their hands fly over each other’s bodies, squeezing, caressing, and grinding together. The sounds of their love-making mixes with the crashing ocean and shower cascading over and slapping down on the stone beneath their feet. With their fingers knuckle deep in their tight sopping wet pussies and their thumbs circling each other’s engorged clits, they cum within seconds of one another. Gasping for air and shuddering in ecstasy, they pull their hands out of each other and wrap limp arms around each other’s waists.

“I hope this didn’t kill your spark of inspiration.”

Sandy smiles really big as she shakes her head and wipes water off of her face. “If anything, it helped.”

“Wonderful. I think we should wash and get out of here so you can get to it.”

This place and Paige have Sandy’s hormones in overdrive and even though she is feeling inspired to continue writing her first attempt at a romance novel, she wants Paige even more. When they get to the bedroom, she falls to her knees in front of Paige and grabs her ass in both hands, pulling her groin against her mouth. Paige releases a small surprised moan of pleasure and grabs Sandy’s head.

“What do you think you’re doing, naughty girl?”

Sandy just groans as she continues firmly lapping at Paige’s sex with the full flat of her tongue. She dips inside Paige with her tongue and pumps in and out of her, pushing in as far as she can so her nose bumps her clit. She sucks, tugs, and nibbles on Paige’s lips and clit, trying to taste and feel every part of her sweet hot sex. As Paige cums, Sandy greedily licks and sucks at her entrance, trying to drink every fresh drop of arousal flowing out of her.

After her aftershocks turn into jerking spasms, Paige tugs on Sandy’s hair, pulling her away from her groin. Sandy licks her lips while looking up at Paige with an adorable smile.

“Get up here.” Sandy jumps up and throws her arms around Paige, kissing her firmly on her lips. “You are making it very difficult for me to be responsible and allow you to follow your creative impulses. Aren’t you supposed to be settling down with your laptop and writing a romance to make the hearts and pussies of every lesbian and bisexual woman melt?”

With a proud grin, Sandy counters, “Actually, you are helping me with my writing by giving me invaluable love and romance experiences. I think I’m ready to behave now though, unless you don’t agree.”

Paige laughs as she spanks Sandy’s ass once very firmly. “You are very naughty. I love it. However, I’m going to make you wait for what I want to do to you. It’s time for you to get dressed and get to work.”

“Yes, Miss Matthews. Whatever you say.”

Sandy kisses her with a grin and spins on her heels to go to the dresser to get her clothes. After they’re dressed in shorts and tank tops, Paige goes down to the kitchen, while Sandy gets her laptop out of her carry-on bag that she still hasn’t unpacked from yesterday.

As Paige is setting some ingredients down on the counter, Sandy sits down on a stool across from her.

“I thought you wanted to work on the deck?”

“I changed my mind. I want to be in here with you. Is that okay?”

“Yes, Sandy. Would you like a drink?”

  “Yes, please.”

Paige fills two glasses of water from the fridge, then adds a slice each of a lemon, lime, and orange. While she takes a drink from her own glass, she turns to grab a cutting board and knife.

Because her visits to Miami are so short, Paige doesn’t want to waste any time by having to go grocery shopping, so when she knows she’s going to be flying in, she schedules a grocery delivery to arrive shortly after her plane arrives. She thought it was adorably amusing yesterday when Sandy thought this was “celebrity treatment,” even though anyone can do the same thing, and many people do to save time. It reminded Paige just how simple of a life her lover lives.

She looks over at Sandy, expecting her to be staring wide eyed in concentration at her computer screen, but she’s leaning over the counter with her chin resting on an upturned hand staring at her like she has cartoon hearts in her eyes. Paige laughs as she licks her lips and walks over to her. She leans over the counter, resting on her forearms, and gives Sandy a kiss on the lips and nibbles the tip of her small pointed nose.

“Aren’t you supposed to be writing the next best seller in lesbian romance?”

“I was. But then I realized I was going to be stepping out of my own perfect real-life romance to fall into an imperfect fictional one. Doesn’t that just seem so illogical and completely regrettable? I don’t want to be foolish or have any regrets about this relationship, so if it’s okay with you, I’d like to remain present with you.”

And just like that, Sandy melts her heart like she never has before, making her feel weak and tingly, as if someone just shot her veins full of a wonderful drug.

  “Come here.”

Sandy slides off of the stool and walks around the kitchen counter with a level of gracefulness in her long thin legs that further weakens Paige. She wraps her arms around Sandy’s waist, pulling her in flush, and kisses her lips. Taking a deep breath through her nose, she parts her lips, engaging her in a long sensual kiss. This kiss is unlike any other they’ve shared. This isn’t about lustful passion that will lead to hot sex. This is about emotions and expressing them since Paige doesn’t have the words to say them, at least, not like Sandy can.

But maybe she’ll try. Paige pulls away, taking a deep breath with her eyes unfocused and releases a small overpowered sort of laugh. “Well, that was an incredible kiss.”

Sandy looks just as stricken from the powerful kiss and stumbles over her words as she blinks a few times, saying, “It was the best kiss of my life.”

“You were so unexpected, Sandy. I’m sure you’ve heard horror stories at work about how quickly I go through assistants.” Sandy giggles as she blushes and bites her bottom lip as she nods, but she doesn’t say anything. “I am a very picky woman and even more particular as a boss. I was just hoping to finally get a good assistant who could manage to meet at least eighty percent of my expectations. Not only have you exceeded my expectations at work, you have exceeded my expectations for a lover and a partner. And in case you didn’t really hear yourself, I just have to tell you, what you said just a few moments ago was one of the most romantic things I’ve ever heard or read. I know you just started your first romance novel, and I don’t want to put any pressure on you, but I think you found your niche.”

“Thank you. I think you bring it out of me. You, Miss Paige Matthews, are a very romantic woman. None of my previous partners have been much into the romance, especially my last partner.”

  “The bartender?”

“Yes. Her idea of romance was mixing me a cocktail and rubbing my feet while we watched TV. Which was nice in the beginning. But when the foot rubs stopped and it was just drinking a cocktail and watching TV, it was just drinking and watching TV. It wasn’t romantic anymore.”

  “So, you like foot rubs?”

Sandy laughs and playfully slaps the top of her chest, saying, “Stop that. I’m not hinting at anything that I want you to do. I like how you operate.”

“Operate? You make me sound like a player. Is that how you see me, Sandy?”

Sandy gives her a stern pouty grin with narrowed eyes. “Why are you teasing me?”

“Oh, I’m just giving you some experience with silly banter between lovers. You know, for your writing.” Paige winks with a smirk, then pats her ass as she releases her. “Now we’ll do the whole cooking together thing so you have that experience too. Come here, beautiful.”

Sandy groans dramatically as she wraps her arms around Paige from behind and firmly kisses the side of her neck. “God, I think I just fell in love with you even more.”

“Me too. Now, come stand next to me. You’re not getting out of this with your cuteness.”

“I don’t want out of this. I gave up writing for this, remember?”

“Ah, see, you’re good at lovers-banter.” Sandy smiles really big as she lightly bumps her hip with Paige. “Do you know how to cut a mango?”

“Yes, Miss Matthews. Is that what you would like me to do?”

“I would, but I’d like you to dice those bell peppers first before your board gets slippery. Then you can cut and dice the mango. You can put all of them together in this bowl.”

“Yes, Miss Matthews. How do you know how to cook so well?”

  “I learned from my parents.”

“Wow, do I finally get to hear about your family?”

Paige shrugs a shoulder and goes to the fridge to get a bottle of white wine. She pours two glasses, and after setting one next to Sandy and taking a sip of her own, she says, “Okay, in the spirit of inspiring your writing, I’ll tell you about my family.”

She winks at Sandy with a small laugh, but Sandy doesn’t smile or laugh. She sets the knife and bell pepper down to face Paige with a serious expression.

“Paige, I don’t want you to share anything with me that you can’t openly share without reservation. If you don’t trust me without having to joke about it, then you shouldn’t tell me.”

Paige takes a sip of wine, licks her lips, then walks across the kitchen to get a grill pan out from a cabinet to set on the stove. She turns the burner on, then drizzles the pan with oil.

“When someone cracks a joke about something serious that they’re about to share with you, it’s usually because it’s a very difficult subject for them to discuss. Cracking a joke makes it feel just a bit less intense for themselves.” Paige turns to face Sandy again. “The joke has nothing to do with you or how well I trust you.”

“I’m sorry, I was just… Well, you were on this inspiration roll about things and I just thought… Anyway, I’m sorry I misread the situation. Do you still want to tell me?”

The last time the subject of families came up was just over two months ago and Sandy was still just her assistant, not her lover. They were out celebrating two successful meetings and the air quickly became filled with a sexual charge that was like electricity tingling on their skin. It was the only question Paige could think of to kill the mood so she wouldn’t act recklessly and kiss Sandy. But she quickly regretted it when the question was then turned on her. Sandy was sweet and understanding when Paige dodged it and she hasn’t brought it up again. But they’ve been together for about a month and they love each other. It’s time.

“If you haven’t already guessed it, I’m an only child, much to my parents’ disappointment.” Sandy walks forward and tentatively places a hand on Paige’s hip. Paige takes a deep breath and grabs Sandy’s hips, tugging them against hers. “They didn’t always feel that way. We had some good times together, but most of the time they regretted having me at all – like they would have preferred not to have any children.”

  “Paige, I’m…”

“Don’t. You don’t need to say you’re sorry or anything like that. I appreciate the thought, I really do, but it really is their problem, not mine.”

Sandy still looks upset, so Paige gives her a few soft kisses on her lips, making her expression somewhat soften.

“My parents met in their early twenties. My mom was a chef at a restaurant and my dad was hired there as a line cook. Long story short, they hated each other at first, then after surviving a major kitchen disaster without the night being completely ruined, the ice thawed and they started to get along. After several months, they were dating, then my mom was pregnant a year later and they got married. My parents worked really long hours, but we still struggled financially and they were always really good about reminding me about it. Every time I needed money for something, whether it was for school or when I had to have my appendix removed and they were uninsured at the time, they were never shy about discussing the money problems in front of me. As soon as I was legally able to work, I got a job and my parents took fifty percent of every paycheck. Which usually only left me with twenty to a hundred dollars.”

  “What? That’s horrible.”

Paige shrugs a shoulder and takes a sip of wine, then offers her glass to Sandy for a drink. “At least I can say I did my part to help, on more than one occasion. I saved everything I could because I knew I would need it in college. My parents weren’t able to help with tuition or anything, so I had to take out loans and I worked all through college.”

“I had to take out loans too, but not because my parents are bad with money. There’s just so many of us. They can’t afford to send four girls to college.”

Paige brushes the back of two fingers over Sandy’s cheek and traces her bottom lip. “Would you allow me to pay those off for you?”

Sandy’s eyes widen as they pool with tears and her jaw drops. She stutters in response and has to clear her throat to ask, “Are you serious?”

“Why would I ask you such a question for any other reason? Yes, Sandy, I would like to remove the burden of your debt so you can focus on building the life you want.”

“Paige, I…” She releases a small sob as she darts forward to kiss Paige. She thrusts her tongue forward, pulling her into a wet, sloppy emotional kiss. When she pulls away, she wipes her eyes, and says, “I accept. Thank you. I love you so much.” She kisses Paige again. “I can’t believe I almost didn’t take the interview to be your assistant.”

“Really?” Paige laughs, and asks, “Why were you hesitant?”

“The whole loyalty to your craft thing. I was afraid of taking a job that wasn’t related to writing and then losing my skills and drive or becoming irrelevant. A couple of my friends made me feel like I’d be a sellout if I took a job at a huge company like Crofton Financial.”

“What made you change your mind?”

“The money. I thought it would be a good way to chip away at my loans a bit faster.”

“And you were right.” Paige flashes a cocky grin and winks, making Sandy laugh and dart forward to kiss her again. “I’m glad you decided to come work for me, Sandy. You’ve been the best damn assistant I’ve ever had. And you’ve done something not many have accomplished – you made me fall in love with you.”
