“Yes, it was, Day. He just–”

“Try water-based lube next time,” Day interrupted, causing God to choke on his eggs.

“Day, fuck.” Syn tried not to grin, but when he thought about it, it really was funny.

“I knew I’d get you to smile. Have some breakfast Sarge, we gotta go question the crazy chicks. You know how much people feel like sharing when they’ve spent a night in jail.”

  “Damn. Alright, just let me–”

“Wow. Something smells great.” Furi’s deep voice reached them from down the hall as he made his way to the kitchen. “You cook babe? Who knew? I’ll have the Gladiator portion.” Furi used his best Roman accent as he sauntered into the kitchen with his hands on hips and his head high.

Syn turned just as Furi noticed God and Day.

“Oh, fuck, shit, Jesus Christ!” Furi stumbled, his eyes darting wildly between all of them. “Damn, I’m so sorry.” Furi looked at Syn trying to gauge exactly how much he’d fucked up just now.

Syn smiled at him and Furi immediately lost the horrified expression. Syn held his hand out and mouthed to him 'it's okay.'

“Damn.” God’s sharp green eyes roamed Furi’s practically naked frame. His intricate body art on full display, wearing nothing but boxer briefs. The hard smack from Day to the back of his head cut his appreciation short.

“Did that feel good, God?” Syn said amusingly.

“I’m s-s-sorry, did you say, G-god?” Furi looked confused.

“Chill out, man. You’re not in purgatory.” Day winked. “You’re in Syn’s apartment, so it only looks like it.”

  Syn huffed an annoyed breath.

“Figures,” Furi said like he was disappointed. He smiled, motioning that he was going to put some pants on. Furi yelled from down the hall. “Figures, God couldn’t be that damn hot.”

Syn rolled his eyes when he saw the shit-eating grin on Day’s face. Wonderful.

“Your guy thinks my man is ‘hot.’” Day slowly pulled out the other dinette chair, sitting gingerly, crossing one leg over the other, carefully placing both clasped hands in his lap in a classic psychoanalytical posture. With one eyebrow cocked high, he asked Syn in a monotone, “So how does that make you feel?”

“You know what? Get out. Both of you.” Syn pointed to his front door.

Furious came back in still laughing. He easily lowered Syn’s pointing arm and kissed his slack mouth. Syn thought he'd feel uncomfortable kissing in front of other people, especially his bosses, but he didn’t. Besides, his bosses weren’t exactly typical. Syn pulled Furi in and kissed him properly before releasing him to sit.

Furi would swear his heart stopped for about ten seconds when he thought he’d embarrassed Syn in front of his coworkers. The Gladiator comment was an obvious jibe that Furi had really put it to Syn last night. He thought Syn was alone, cooking for him, otherwise he never would’ve said that, but Syn was okay about it.

Furi was shocked when Syn pulled him in for a sexy kiss right in front of his hot ass friends and damn, they were fucking hot. Furi sat down and glanced over toward the stove. “That smells awesome. What is it?”

“It’s a bacon, potato, and egg breakfast casserole,” the shorter of the duo answered. He was all smiles and funny energy. “Help yourself.”

“Make sure you fix yourself the Gladiator portion,” the big scary one said roughly. His voice was raw and gritty and there wasn’t the slightest hint of a smile on his tight mouth. Furi wondered what the man sounded like if he got in your face and yelled. He hopefully would never know.

Furi ignored the comment and got up to fix himself a plate of the delicious-looking dish. After he sat back down he thought it appropriate to introduce himself. “I’m Furious,” he said extending his hand to the short one first then to the huge one.

“We know who you are.” The man smiled charmingly. “I’m Leonidis Day but you can call me Day or Leo, and this is my partner in every since of the word. He’s Cashel Godfrey, you can call him Cash if God is a little too off-putting for you ... it is for people who aren’t used to him."

“God seems fitting,” Furi said in a low whisper. He watched the big man pull the corner of the paper down and wink quickly at him.

“Fuck, I think I’ve just come.” Furi winked back.

“Holy shit. I love this guy!” Day laughed loudly. “Syn, your boyfriend is a riot.”

“Yeah. He’s a regular fuckin’ Jim Carey.” Syn gave Furi the evil eye, obviously not liking his ‘I’ve just come’ comment, but Furi blew a kiss at Syn, loving that he didn’t try to correct the use of the boyfriend title.

“So you guys work with Syn?” Furi asked around a mouthful of bacon and eggs

“Yep. We’re his Lieutenants,” Day answered, picking up the largest coffee cup Furi had ever seen and taking a huge gulp. “You guys had a trying evening last night, so we thought we’d check in on you.”

  Syn just nodded. “Hmm. Right.”

“Nice bandage.” God peeked around his paper again angling his head at Syn’s hand. “Nothing broken?”

Syn looked at his hand. “Furi wrapped it up for me last night. Just a little torn skin, it’s nothing really.”

“He tried to be all tough but I had to blow on it to make it feel better.” Furi’s teasing had Syn smiling.

“Glad you’re okay, Syn.” Day winked mischievously.

Furi looked at Syn. “You just don’t realize how awesome it is to have such great bosses. Came to check up on you, considerate enough to bring you breakfast, I mean just all around awesome guys.”

“Just wait for it, Furi,” Syn cut him off.

“What?” Furi’s brow creased in confusion.

“All the warm compliments you’re giving God and Day ... just wait for it.”

Furi looked confused. “I don’t know what you’re–”

“What else did you have to blow on to make feel better?” Day said around a snort. “Really hate to have missed that show, spanky.” Day smiled broadly at Furi.

Furi groaned and dropped his head as he ran both hands through his hair. “You guys watched my videos.”

  “Hell yeah.” Day grinned.

“For evidence and research purposes only,” God chimed in.

“Five times,” Day yelled, punching God in his large bicep.

“Okay guys. Shut up," Syn huffed.

“I’m just saying, you lucky fuck. You get to date a hot porn puppy and we can’t say anything.” Day stared at Furi, completely ignoring Syn’s fuming.

Furi laughed and got up to put his plate in the sink. He mussed Day’s head on his way back to his seat. God had a smile on his face when he turned the page of his paper. “Syn go get your ass dressed, we gotta go. Ro should be calling any minute.”

Furi watched Day’s eyes travel down Syn’s muscled torso. Furi was fascinated. These men had a type of camaraderie he’d never seen amongst co-workers, especially cops.

Day pointed at Syn’s hips. “You got a little fruit hanging out of your loom, Syn.”

Syn slammed his hands over the flap in front of his boxers and turned abruptly, heading to his bedroom. “Give me fifteen minutes, assholes.”

Furi chuckled and got up to follow.

“You got five,” God yelled. “We don’t have time for spanky to beat your meat first.”

‘You Do Your Job and I’ll Do Mine’

Syn was still shaking his head in disbelief when he started the shower. As soon as he stepped inside the clear doors, Furi came in, leaning his tall frame against the sink. Syn washed quickly, watching Furi brush his hair back into a thick ponytail that reached mid-shoulder. Syn remembered running his fingers through the soft strands and pulling on it when pleasure overtook him. His cock hardened, making him smile at how bad he already had it for this man. Furi had his shirt and shoes on as if he was also preparing to leave.

“What are you doing?” Syn asked over the running water.

  “I’m getting ready.”

  “For what?”

“I called Doug. He’s on his way to get me,” Furi answered.

“What!?” Syn yelled. He shut off the water and flung the door to the shower open. “I don’t want you leaving, Furious. Your ex could still be in town and I want to be one hundred percent positive we’ve got the person that tried to run you down. I think you should stay here.”

Furi stared at Syn like he’d lost his damn mind. Syn wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped closer to Furi. “Okay, that came out a little harsher than I intended.” Syn put his hands on Furi’s waist and closed in until his damp forehead was resting on Furi’s shoulder.

“I understand,” Furi whispered in his ear. “But I can’t stay holed up here. I have things to do, Syn. The property manager for the shop is meeting us with to do a walk-through and sign the lease today. I also have to meet with a couple of mechanics that we hired.” Furi smiled wide. “Then I have to go and pick up the assignment for my final so I can graduate.”

Syn stared into Furi’s sparkling eyes. He brought one hand up and tenderly brushed Furi’s cheek. “Congratulations.”

“Thank you.” Furi kissed his lips gently. “I’ll be fine. I’m a big boy.”

“I know you are.” Syn winked.

Furi flushed with embarrassment. “Shut up. Don’t start something you can’t finish.”

“I’ll finish it later,” Syn promised. His look was pure lust as he pushed his rising cock against Furi’s jean-clad thigh.

“Fuckin’ right you will,” Furi moaned against Syn’s cheek, rocking back against him. “I’d fuckin’ take you right now if your bosses weren’t in the front room.”

  Syn groaned.

Furi gripped Syn’s cock in a firm grip and stroked a couple times, wrapping his other arm around Syn’s back to hold him close. He nipped at Syn’s stubbled chin, peppering sweet kisses along his jaw to his ear. Furi flicked his tongue out and pulled the fleshy lobe between his soft lips. Furi’s lips were pressed against his ear as he spoke in a low, sexy drawl, “I’d bend you over this sink and fuck you until you yelled my name and begged me not to stop.”

“Fuck,” Syn moaned. Heat tore up through him at Furi’s nasty words.

“Fuck you hard, just how you like it, baby.” Furi increased the speed of his stroke.

“Oh fuck, fuck. No. Stop honey,” Syn protested weakly, his balls already throbbing with the need for release.

  “Why?” Furi hissed.

“Because I fucking refuse to let Day hear me come.” Syn put some room between their bodies and kept backing up until he hit the wall. He tried to control his breathing, but staring at Furi’s gorgeous, flushed face didn’t help.

“You guys are crazy.” Furi shook his head.

“Day’s pranks have no boundaries. I wouldn’t be surprised if my moans are broadcasted over the loudspeaker in the office today.” Syn opened the bathroom door and gestured for Furi to look out into the hallway. “See.”

Furi busted out laughing at Day standing there in the hallway with his cell phone in his hand, studying the non-existent art on Syn’s bare wall. He whistled like he was just lounging around not looking for trouble. Syn just flipped him off and pulled Furi into his bedroom, slamming the door behind them.

“Oh my fucking god. That shit is too funny.” Furi laughed while he put a few things into his backpack.

“Yeah, because you don’t’ have to deal with his silliness.” Syn hurried to get dressed.

“Is he a good cop?” Furi asked without looking up.

Syn smiled. “Believe it or not, he’s awesome. Put him with God and they're unbeatable, otherwise I wouldn’t have come all the way from Philly to work for them.”

Syn finished clipping on his phones and badge before snapping his weapons into his holster. He walked over to where Furi sat on the bed watching his preparations. He nudged his way in between his knees and cradled Furi’s face in his palms. If the gesture shocked Furi, he didn’t show it, he just lifted his face up to stare at Syn. “If you have any problems.” Syn took a deep breath, silently wishing Furi would just stay where he knew he’d be safe. He wasn’t Furi’s keeper and he wouldn’t bully him, he’d already had enough of that in his life. “Get someplace safe first, then call me immediately.”

Furi put his hands over top of Syn’s and slowly brought their hands down. He stood and wrapped his arms around Syn’s neck and Syn hugged Furi tightly to him. Their mouths came together hard and hungry. Biting and licking each other, like one of them was leaving for a long journey. They kissed like it could be their last time, and it unnerved the hell out of Syn. He didn’t like this feeling, he didn’t like the uncertainty of this whole fucked up situation. He needed to fix this. They weren’t in bed right now. Furi wasn’t on top of him or inside of him, grounding him. They were heading back out into the ruthless world and that was Syn’s domain, that’s where he took back control. If something happened to the man in his arms he’d never forgive himself. “What’s Doug’s phone number?” Syn asked breaking their kiss.

Furi looked at him for a few seconds before rattling off the few digits. “I’ll only use it if I can’t reach you,” Syn said, programming the number into his personal cell.

Furi released a deep sigh, making Syn look up. “What’s wrong? Are you nervous?”

“Actually, yes, very much,” Furi confessed and Syn desperately wanted to put him at ease.

Syn lifted Furi’s chin so they were eye-to-eye. “I’m only a phone call away. If some shit pops off, I can have someone to you in seconds, do you underst–”

“That’s it right there,” Furi cut Syn off. “I’m not nervous about my ex or Sasha’s angry bitches. I’m nervous about you.” Syn started to speak but Furi put his hand up to stop him.

“I know I fought you tooth-and-nail before. I was a jerk to you and that’s only when I wasn’t acting like an unappreciative brat. You’ve saved my life more than once already, and I..." Furi seemed to search for the right words before he could continue. “I don’t want you to give up on me when you start to feel like this is too much work. You can’t be focused on your already demanding job if you’re worried about what trouble I may be getting into. You have to keep your head together so you can lead your team.”

Syn was shaking his head no before Furi finished talking. “That’s not true. I don’t throw my hands up in surrender on anything.”

“Have you had many boyfriends or girlfriends, Syn? My guess would be no. It’s stressful at best. You definitely don’t need it affecting your ability to do your job.”

Syn pointed out his bedroom window. “Out on those streets, I can handle that all day. Let me do what I do, Furious. Let me handle it.” Syn gestured around the room. “This here in my bed, I’ll let you handle that, and everything will balance itself out.”

Furi smiled at Syn’s suggestion, hopefully liking it.

“Furious.” Syn stepped in closer and put his mouth on Furi’s long neck, inhaling the masculine scent and the intoxicating sandalwood fragrance that lingered in his beautiful hair. “Now that I’ve had you, had you inside of me ... I’m not going any fuckin’ where.”

Syn leaned in for another kiss and was just about to deepen it when he heard God bellow from the front door for him to 'bring his ass.'

“I gotta go.” Syn kissed Furi’s cheek. “I’ll call you later. Be safe.” It felt like something else wanted to emerge from his lips but he tamped down that unfamiliar feeling and left out the room.

  ‘Verbal Vomit’

Sasha Pain was an incredibly beautiful woman. She sat on the other side of the cold metal table staring at them with a look of shock and fear.

Ronowski had already got Shelia McIntyre; also known as Sasha Pain, to confess to conspiring with Lady J to commit murder and buying laced ecstasy to drug her coworkers. He’d done all that before they even arrived in the office. Syn gave Ro a congratulatory pat on the back, while they walked to their office. “Good job, man. Real good work.” Syn smiled.

Ro squinted his eyes, giving Syn a peculiar look, as if he were trying to figure out what was different about him.

“What?” Syn said nervously. He opened the door to their large office, noticing that most of the team was already there waiting on their assignments. God and Day were marking off names on the white board. He plopped down in his chair, fidgeting with some files on his desk. Ronowski leaned casually against the side of his chair, staring down at him. Syn huffed, trying to hide the chuckle that was just underneath his grin. “Why are you looking at me like that Ro?”

Ro smiled back at him. “No reason, you just look, um. I don’t know ... happy, I guess.”

“Oh he’s happy alright,” Day yelled across the spacious area.

Fuck. Here we go. Syn knew Day wouldn’t keep his mouth shut.

“Sarge is very happy.” Day turned to look at him. “He feels like a fuckin’ room without a roof, don’tcha Sarge?” Day gave him an exaggerated wink and Syn just barely resisted the urge to dump his trashcan all over the top of Day’s desk. He settled for flipping him off.

Ro cut Syn some slack and got back to their case. “Ms. Pain is not a male basher – well not as bad as some of those BTNSers. She admits to trying to scare Furious by chasing him off the road with her car, but claims she wouldn’t have hit him.” Ro's voice was thick with sarcasm.

  “Bullshit!” Syn snapped.

“Calm down, Syn. We’re gonna nail this,” God said walking over to them. “What’s she saying now?”

Ro turned to look up at the big man as he practically stood on top of Ronowski. Syn thought God was closer than was strictly necessary to ask his questions. He was so close that Ro could lay his head on God’s chest if he wanted to, but whatever.

“She’s scared right now and willing to cooperate,” Ro told them.

“Is she willing to cooperate regarding the ecstasy dealer?” Syn asked.

“Only one way to find out,” Day said, scooping up the file on his way toward the door.
